Consistently good food, attentive service. Update 2018: again, wonderful experience. The chef has been here for 13 years, and we 've been coming here for about 10.

This has been one of my favorite restaurants for years and whenever I go it's a treat. That's why it was so disappointing to recently get a meal that was, frankly, depressing. We went on a Saturday night. First, my wife ordered a drink with hot cider. Instead of using cider, they used iced tea (???), somehow didn't notice a cloudy drink was miraculously clear, and then we overheard the bartender telling the waitress we were full of it when she remade the drink. (The fact that our waitress agrees with us is the only thing that keeps this from being a one star review.) We got lentil soup. It was boring, but lentil doesn't usually knock your socks off. Then we got fondue as an appetizer. It was separated. They told us to stir it, and we did, but this did nothing. After two pieces of bread, we gave up, and told our waitress to just bring us the mains. We figured a place like this would not charge us, but they did. So that was about $20 for two pieces of bread with stringy, rubbery cheese and a thin, winey broth on top. I got the stew, which was dry, and lacked much in the way of vegetables. My wife got the chicken, and the sauce was too acidic. I can't understand how a restaurant that was so consistently good could produce a meal like this. I wouldn't have said anything, but charging us for that junky fondue was beyond the pale. The whole night, we alternated between disappointment and stressing over whether we wanted to send things back or ask for things to be remade. I sincerely hope that this was just an off night and they go back to the way they were. But I don't think I'll be driving 40 minutes to blow money on mediocre bistro cuisine anytime soon.

Service was inattentive, I had to share my water with table mate as no one came around to refill glasses. Appetizer plate was an after thought, other drinks were brought out only after we mentioned to another staff person that our 2nd round was never delivered. The duck was inedible, too tough, front house manager offerred to cook it more (????). The waitress was able to get it removed from the bill, but manager never offerred that option directly. I will not visit again.

My husband and I have been there several times and have always had a delicious meal. Don't expect it to be a fast food restaurant, it's not! It's high quality, local, organic food made just for you. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Thank you Burdick's!

Burdick's is an expensive place to eat, but very much worth it. You can tell they are using the best quality food. It's an experience, not just a meal. The hot chocolate tastes like you are drinking a chocolate bar. Photos: My son in heaven with his fries and grilled cheese. My stepfather very excited about the Creme Brulee. The 'leftovers.'

We've been going to Burdicks several times a summer for many years. It's consistently excellent, one of the best restaurants in NH.

Had lunch with a friend. We introduced a drink to the bartender and she named it after us. Go and try the Gaby!

We had a great brunch there. Steamed buns were great! Apparently filling changes every week. These were pork belly, almost like a banh mi sandwich, but light as a pillow. The traditional brunch dishes were beautiful. Service was friendly and well paced.

All the tables had brown paper covers over the table linens, which gave the impression that guests are viewed like messy children who can't be trusted not to spill. The lobster bisque was more of a broth, & the chocolate mousse (which was stuffed into a ramekin like playdoh) was so bitter that it was practically inedible - considering that I adore dark chocolate, I was rather surprised. Truthfully, even the whipped cream wasn't properly sweetened. Could have been much better for a $300 dinner.

Really disappointed. We were feed and out the door in less than 50 minutes....after asking them to keep space between courses waited longer for wine than the food...was done with dinner when we got the wine...after asking. Where us the Burdicks we knew and loved! Food was fair at best..not that we had a chance to taste it before the check...wow..

A remarkable restaurant in a picturesque, quintessential, New England village. A dynamite menue from appetizers to desert. This wonderful place is warm and welcoming and partially owned by a famous documentary producer who's privacy I'll respect while giving him full credit.

Took 45 minutes for them to come back so we could order, portions were extremely small, and extremely expensive. Waitress was nice but only saw her about every 20 min or so

Joy Simeone

Had a reservation for 1:45 and arrived 20 minutes early. Waited at the host stand for 15 minutes and had not been greeted. There were at lest six empty tables that had not been bussed and the line of waiting patrons was out the door. We left. To be SO understaffed on a holiday weekend is shameful. The service is equally poor at the Brattle Street Cambridge location. We will not be back.

Alexis Malandain

Strongly recommend. As a French couple leaving in the US we were craving a taste of home. There was a very successful modern touch to it. Wines are inexpensive and very well selected.

Beautiful. Food had fantastic presentation and taste. The service may have started out slow at first, but our server's energy was phenomenal so you could hardly remember.

Best Chocolate, in a great atmosphere. You can choose the full Resturant or the Cafe. Also her is a tip: the dark chocolate hot chocolate is so chock full of chocolate, which is great, yet perhaps for some it's just over the edge. So you can ask for 1/2 strength, which is so good. The full strength version placed in a fridge kinda turns into a chocolate mousse!

Burdick's was pretty solid. Been here once before and they meal was stellar. This time around it was good but not as great as last time. I had the lamb with parsnip puree. The lamb was cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning. Puree was fantastic. Wife had the seafood squid ink pasta. That was pretty darn good. Desert was the creme brulee and whipped chevre with poached pears & honey comb...the whipped chevre was insanely good, tasted like a deconstructed cheesecake. Overall great experience. Definitely coming back.

Was just there for Oktoberfest, made a reservation to dine inside. I have dined here many times, I am not one to write a review but this has been bothering me. We were seated, given menus and ordered. Appetizer came out with the light dinner, specifically ordered them to come out separate, we were not done with those two servings and a different waitress is standing at our table with our dinners! Talk about rushing us! We never look at prices, we want good food and service. But what we paid for and what we received are very different things. Food was not up to par...sorry. Will not be back for a while, just not so good anymore.

When We walked in, we knew we were not at a typical roadside eatery. Decor was wonderful and menu very limited and a tad pricey. However it was delicious and very nicely prepared. Even tried a decadent chocolate dessert. Service was slow but realized everything was prepared to order. That was special.

The chocolate is amazing, if you can deal with the bad service. I have never been impressed with the kind of service I have received during my year of living in Walpole and visiting the cafe.

The food here is really good, and the service is friendly. When we went there were some very rude customers ruining the dining experience for us. They were eavesdropping on our conversation and yelling at the waitress the whole time. Besides the jerks the experience and food was wonderful.

A gem of a restaurant. Go.
