If you love country music, football, beer, whiskey, burgers, wings and the like... then you have to give this place a go! There is a great selection of drafts and many options for liquor (specifically whiskey). The last time I came here with my mom, she got the Mac and cheese, which came in a cast iron skillet, and was so delicious. She also got a bucket of bacon, which we expected to be much larger but it was delicious. We also came during happy hour, which had an awesome deal of $3 drafts! We always sit at the bar which always has awesome, attentive, bartenders. Everytime I come to Portsmouth, I have to stop here. You should too!

The Goat was alot if fun. I would go here all the time if I lived in Portsmouth. They had good food, lots of whiskey options, and had a full house. I would definitely go back. Lots of Patriots fans here just an FYI. Presumably the goat is a reference to Tom Brady.

I really like it here. I only come here for breakfast so I cant say much about anything else. But the food is actually really decent. Sometimes the home fries dont come out that great but I guess every restaurant struggles with that. The coffee tastes sooo good. Like I dont understand but man, it's good. Nothing like good tasting coffee to start your morning. They also have decent sized mimosas and other alcoholic beverages for when you want to start your morning off with a kick. Overall this is my go to spot when me and the bestie want to get breakfast.

Staff are really nice, especially with my family when we get pretty drunk at dinner..... Burgers are solid... Was a little disappointed in the tots quality as a tater tot connoisseur, speaking from personal experience. But I recommend this establishment For Sure

Place is moderately busy and loud. While we were seated quickly on a Saturday afternoon, we waited for quite awhile until the waitress, who was chatting at the front door with coworkers, finally came over to take our order. Our drinks and tater tots came quickly and were delicious. The portions here are very generous.

The Goat is a shiny, clean, well designed, friendly place. I didn't sample the food, tempting as it was. But the whiskey selection, and prices, are great. Jo was my server, and she was wonderful. If you want to drink and you like a proper Irish bar or high end tequila...here's a great option.

Not usually an omelet gal, but I had one of the best and most delicious omelets at "The Goat". Being able to tailor our bloody marys was also really neat! Hope to be back soon!

Awesome sports bar and even better if you're a New England fan!! Our server JJ was super nice and she was very attentive! Perfect location in downtown Portsmouth. They serve food till ten which was nice since we got there at almost 9:30. The Steak Tacos were huge a so good. The steak was tender and not fatty. I didn't catch the name of the girl that was singer this past Thursday night (8/8/19) but she could sing!! Definitely will be going back there again, great atmosphere and friendly staff!!

I've been to The Goat a few times now since this new location opened. I find the food pretty decent. Prices aren't too bad but some things are overpriced in my opinion. Sides are expensive a la carte, so it's best getting them with your meal. Breakfast on weekends is really good. Tater tots available in lieu of hash browns. Service is hit or miss. Last visit started great, then our server just disappeared for some reason. Other servers attending to us. Then original server appears. Gets the bill I signed and just takes it. No, "thank you" or anything. Seemed annoyed to take my money! Could have been an off day.

Atmosphere is a big bar and mostly high top table around. My chicken tenders for lunch were not good at all and the waitress did not even notice I did not eat. My hubby food was good. Very surprised at the small draft beers pick. We will go to the one in Hapton and see if there is a difference

Awesome bar/restaurant! They serve breakfast all day which is delicious! Only place I've seen that had a poutine omelet. They have good/spicey bloody Mary's and are open until one AM everyday. Live music too!

First time here. It was crowded, and loud on a Friday night. Bit of a wait for a table but that's on us for going late. My drink was mixed perfect for me. I had a burger and fries for food. I ended up eating it with fork and knife as it was difficult to hold and eat. Tasted good either way. The server was on her game and very attentive. Towards the end of the night a two-man acoustic group played and sang. Nice tones. I'd go back.

This place is awesome! I just wish they would fix their fries. The brunch is amazing and so is lunch and dinner. For brunch the mimosas are in a grey goose bottle so it’s a lot of fun!

Received appalling service at this restaurant. Came here with my girlfriend from PA for brunch and she had her ID confiscated on suspicion that it was fake when she tried to order a coffee with baileys. The manager treated us rudely and with condescension. He threw us out and we weren't given an opportunity to provide a second form of ID. We had to get a POLICE OFFICER involved to get her legal, government-issued ID back. My email to the owner has gone unanswered as well. If you are from out of state, maybe skip the hassle and don't go here. I know myself, as well as my friends and family in NH won't be.

My Rating: 4.6... I love The Goat, it's bar food, well the way it's supposed to be. I hope you expand to Manchester, NH because it's in need of a greasy, fatting, Fresh, and amazing hand cut thin French Fry place like The Goat! Love the Specials, 10 cent wings on wednesdays, two for one burgers on Monday-Tuesday. Bernies, Wally's might make a killing $$$ but I think The Goat is the crown jewel of this Restaurateur! Cheers

Went for lunch on St Patrick's day. We were obviously not locals and were treated as such. The food was okay - had corn beef hash and eggs. Wasn't great, but scratched the Irish itch. Service was okay - not great, but okay. Probably won't go back next time I'm in Portsmouth.

Needed a bite in a hurry, ended up paying $14 for the worst chicken tenders I've ever been served. Ate one, left the rest on the bar. Dry, and flavorless, no redeeming qualities.

So far i’ve been to The Goat twice. First time was almost a year ago and I ordered a burger, unfortunately I don’t remember which one however it was deliciously messy and came with a ridiculous awesome amount of fries. The second time I came in was on a Wednesday last month, we waited about 20 mins to be seated but totally worth the wait. Got the garlic parmesan wings and by far one of the best wings I have ever had. Everything came in a timely manner, our waitress was great and attentive and love the country style atmosphere. Definitely will be back especially for the wings.

Seated next to door and they did not pull the curtains to keep the cold out. Had to ask for a waitress. They gave us a empty ketchup bottle and kept giving us just about empties to replace it for 7 people. Had to wait for the check still waiting for someone to come by to get the credit card and cash me out. You decide! Ok so the food was good.

This is a fun restaurant/bar to visit. Service was friendly and attentive. Drinks are moderately priced - $10 for a Mimosa. Serves all day breakfast as well as regular menu items. Food was very tasty. Only complaint, none of our Visa gift cards worked in their system.

The goat has the finest of drink with an immense selection of beverages and the food is incredible! Burgers are massive and inexpensive, the wings are by far ranked my top 5 spots to hit and I travel for work all over. If you pass this place up, you missed one of the best opportunities for a good time. Plus they have a lot of t.v's if you want to watch a sports game

Food is really good, creative drinks, and sometimes good staff. The last two times the waitresses sucked, took forever to help us, and practically threw the food at us. I gave a 4 because I do like this place I just hope they get better staff.

We came here for dinner last night! Margaritas, food and service was EXCELLENT. The waitress was tentative and personable. It was so good that we finished our get mini vacation with lunch here today. The bartender clearly doesn’t love her job or needs to give a little effort in the personality area. We did come back for the .10 wings, I mean who wouldn’t. The wings were great but nowhere does it say that you have to purchase a beverage to get the wings (not a big deal because of course we had margaritas) but that could be misleading to others ALSO the wings are dine in only which makes perfect sense however if I want to take my left overs with me I should be able to do that. So throwing the leftovers away makes more sense than letting me take them home?!?! Doesn’t even make sense to me. I really hope they at least go in a bucket and get fed to the goats out back! We will be back but it’s super unfortunate that a second visit can never be like the first.
