We visited for Sunday brunch. Waitress STARTED quite attentive, perhaps a little distracted. We finished eating and waiting for check. She was no where to be found. We were in no rush so we waited. I already had my card waiting to give to her - about 10 minutes - but she put the bill on table and walked away. She came back about 15 minutes later. We waited a few more minutes before we got up to ask around to to just sign the credit card receipt and leave. To be fair, she seemed to be very busy. To make matters go from not bad to aggravating is that the manager on duty and other wait staff were standing around chatting. Manager said he had no idea we were waiting and apologized and said they had a rough day. At other Common Man locations, manager would come around and check on tables to see how they're doing and if they're enjoying themselves. I shouldn't have to feel sorry when I have to listen to their excuses.

A great restaurant. The food was very delicious, the salmon salad, the burgers and the cake were all well made and special. The design of the place was nice and catchy. On top of that THE SERVICE; from the moment you walk in you will be greeted with smiling waitresses, and the service at our table was superb. Arial with her lovely laughter and positive energy added to the experience a great value. A place that I would go back to for sure. Well done everyone

Comfortable and convenient pub to visit after snowshoeing Hamlin recreation and conservation area or winter hiking nearby mountains. All you can eat cheese and crackers. Casual pub for craft beers and burgers. Salads also available for healthy diners.

Friendly welcome, surprised I couldn’t have a plan salmon no sauce etc.. so a plate of fries, note, they need to make them fresh each time they are ordered not double fried though. The table placement was near the kitchen area which was fine until a staff member loudly dropped a plate? Into a large bucket. Geez! It’s really unnecessary fir the guests in the restaurant. Then he did it again! Now really you have my attention. And can you believe a third time in five minutes. I was in a conversation so I couldn’t mention this to anyone at the time. I will try the restaurant again as it has a great ambiance. Kick it up a notch! You have a great clientele who wants great food and service with ever returning visit. To sum it up, try this spot if you aren’t finicky

If you’re looking for a classy place to enjoy a great martini, great apps and a calming atmosphere, this is it! The location is ideal, too as it is right off the highway. I loved it here and will definitely be back! Our bartender, Katie was awesome and treated my sister and I like we were her own family. Can’t wait to visit again

Service was terrible. When asked where the seating was the hostess rudely said “just upstairs” and did not bring us upstairs. We found a table upstairs and they said this room is reserved and so we waited outside for a table. Waited 20 min for a table for 5 people. We asked if they could clear off a table for us and 7 min later no one cleared off a table. As we were leaving they said we can seat you right now and we said no we’ve already waited 20 min for a table. Customer service was very terrible. Staff was rude and not helpful. Have been to common man before and very disappointed at this experience.

I tried the breakfast buffet for the first time. I went at 10am (opening). I was disappointed many items were dried out or soggy. The $20 charge per person is excessive for what you receive. The dessert bar did have an excellent selection and is the only reason I gave two stars.

The Common Man restaurants are a fixture of life in New Hampshire. There is always something for everyone on the menu, and you can help yourself to cheese and crackers from the cheese-and-cracker station near the entrance. The interior is very quaint, rustic and cozy. There is a nice bar with a good drink selection. So why not five stars? I've lived in NH for twenty years, and there just isn't anything there that totally knocks my socks off. It is a lovely reliable stop for lunch or dinner, and it is great for kids.

I love the ambiance in this restaurant. We were seated upstairs off to the side. Perfect seating to allow for my daughter and I to have a somewhat private dinner which allowed us to have great conversation without distractions. Out waitress was courteous, efficient and helpful. I love the cracker and cheese table that you can help yourself to if you want to nibble on something before your meal. The food was fantastic and reasonably priced. A great dining experience!

Best post-hike restaurant on I-93! We've come with groups of fifteen people before and they've always sat us at a single table and split the bill with no problems. There's almost always some live music and the wait staff is superior to almost any other restaurant I've been to in the northeast for this price range and above.

Sadly, this is not the first time we have had this happen. Previously we had waited it out, but we are pretty done with the bad service, so we left and went to a different restaurant.

I love common man but I dislike Concord a little bit because I find it pretentious and a wannabe "hip' city. I say that because that is what this common man mimics. The food is all trying to be fancy instead of sticking to the tried and true real food. The chicken pot pie was like chicken soup with a big flat pastry on top, the steak tip kabob had a weird sweet taste to it and the rest of the menu was slightly weird to me. The Baked onion soup which is french onion soup everywhere else was delicious even though they use swiss instead of more expensive cheese. The service and management are great as they always are at common man restaurants. Just really did not like all the plays on food and options that were so "concord' in style. I am a foodie and I am from NY that might sound pretentious in itself but good food and fancy or upscale food does not have to be weird and hipster in nature.

We have eaten at the Common Man before but will never go back. Even after calling ahead we still waited an hour and twenty minutes for a table. After that, we waited another hour and fifteen minutes for our food which came out completely cold. So nearly three hours later it was either send the food back and wait again or just leave. We choose to just leave.

Awesomeness! We stumbled on this place and it was an amazing experience. We stopped in without any idea of what it was. We were greeted by a quaint and friendly place but we had no idea how great it would be. The dining room downstairs is nice but we wanted something a little more intimate and they pointed to a spiral staircase to the second floor and we found just what we wanted. There was a bar and an eclectic group of seating and table options. We ordered a couple appetizers and slowly people kept coming in and before you knew it we realized that it was an open mic night. We didn’t expect much but the musicians were amazing! We enjoyed a delicious dinner and had a ton of fun with the waitstaff and other people who sat around us. It could barely have been better. NOTE to Google staff: I was just trying to find this on maps by searching for “the common man,” but this location doesn’t appear for some reason. There are several other locations listed for other restaurants under the same name but this isn’t showing up. Worse some of the pictures and reviews for this location are showing up on the other location across from Loon mountain.

Google wrong again!!!!! Did not go here recently. And about a year ago food was lousy. I a crab " cake. No crab just bread. Change name to crab flavored bread. My wife had homemade chips with blue cheese sauce. Chips were ok. Cook just dumped a while container of Bleu cheese. No care taken at all. When complained. Mgr invited us back. It was so bad I would not go back. BTW the woman next to me ordered the crab cake and confirmed that it was crab barely flavored bread

Absolutely loved this place. The waitress was a sweetheart and the atmosphere is delightful. I 100% recommend the upstairs lounge. I got the Boursin Burger and it was just right. Char-grillled flavor with bacon that wasn’t too crunchy and provided just enough of the smoky flavor without making everything taste burnt. Will definitely be here again on another NH trip.

The Common Man Restaurant has the best food in Manchester, NH by far! It is known for its fish dishes. Some family members enjoyed that. Service was great and the food was even better. My choice was the Half Roasted Chicken with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies of zucchini and squash. I was in heaven. I also had an appetizer of Bacon and Cheese Dip with homemade chips. Fantastic!! I even had my favorite cocktail of a Brandy Alexander! That hit the spot. I would recommend this gem of a place to all who are looking for a real New England experience! You will not regret it. Bon appetit!!!

Horrible service every single time and the manager could care less. If I could get my money back for each time I would. Drive to Tilton and go to a restaurant that isn’t affiliated with the common man. They clearly could care less about good service and getting your order right.

We don't expect buffets to be the best food we've ever had but we expect a little effort to be put in. That cannot be said for the Common Man Windham New Hampshire Sunday buffet. I'm not even sure where to begin with either the atrociously no tasting food or horrendous service. The buffet consisted of the basics, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash brown and a few lunch type dishes. A Sriracha chicken and a Haddock piccata. The Haddock piccata was basically Haddock in what tasted like a bland flour roux with absolutely no indication of any lemon juice, butter, and although there were Capers they had no flavor at all. The Sriracha chicken which should have had a little heat and flavor to it tasted like chicken in red food color, exactly no taste. There was no omelet station and these days most Sunday buffets have an omelet station. The Common Man did include, and I'm not exaggerating, a very young boy with a chef's cap standing in front of a piece of steak about the size of half a deck of cards. Basically two forkfuls worth of steak on his carving board. Next to him were two giant vats, one with caramelized onions and the other with horseradish sauce. No other meats available no turkey, roast beef or ham as is usually seen at a breakfast buffet There were Belgian waffles which is one of my favorite things, however they as well had zero taste with the consistency of a kitchen sponge. Our service was truly worse than the buffet. After being seated we waited a few minutes until a waitress walked by and glanced at us and said oh hi I'm Lisa I'll be taking care of you. And taking care of us was not in her agenda. We got two coffees and two waters, she dropped off the coffee with no cream and no spoons. I had to search for cream until another waitress said she would bring it over. I then had to get up and look for spoons until a third waitress saw me and said she would bring some. Not too much later we saw a customer get up from her table and head to the waitress station and pour herself two glasses of ice water, my guess is she had the same waitress as us.There were also three floor managers, they seemed to be anyway, walking around, two guys that were basically just walking checking on things and one woman who seem to be doing quite a bit of extra side work. I don't even want to get into the desserts, most of them were dry and stale. All in all it was a very sad visit and I've been a fan of the Common Man since its inception in Ashland New Hampshire. I will tell you for $20 per person I could have just gone to a regular nice sit-down breakfast and paid half the price with much better food. I would recommend not wasting your money or the close to half an hour wait time and go somewhere else.

It’s hard to tell whether NH culture is reflected or determined by the Common Man. This restaurant is a great experience for someone who want to get a feel for New Hampshire. The decor is rustic and playful. The staff is friendly and hospitable. The food is amazing. Vegetarian options here are quite good. The veggie burgers are their own design and have a wonderful nut flavor (look out though, I think I was charged $1 for ketchup). My wife has the polenta and liked it and my kids were happy with the grilled cheese. We didn’t get to try the quinoa stuffed pepper. We spent just under $70 for 4 people with tip, no appetizers or alcohol.

I loved it as a teenager while up in the winter after a long day of skiing and now I love it spending a romantic evening with my wife by candlelight. This is my review for the Concord location... being told there are more locations but independently owned... My party of 4 - Wednesday night not busy... a full star for the waitress - she knew her stuff... another star for location and ambience... this spot can cater to large crowds- has 2 levels - both with its niche-... The food was okay, when I walked to my table saw some very well dressed plates that look yummy... So we ordered tuna app ( what a let down - it wasn't pan seared and served - it was done ahead of time and served cold...) the other plates were fine - except mine - I ordered the Nantucket Pie which is the sea food platter (another let down - for its price, it had baby shrimps that were not clean - could of served 3-4 large shrimps- lobster almost invisible - 2 large scallops- and it was covered with penco crushed breading.. and it was served in a small oval petri dish - the vegetables needed color and variety like red peppers or seared cherry tomatoes - not cooked red onions......). They definitely need help with the presentation and flavor on the upper platters but overall I will return for some of the simpler finger foods.

Had my first Easter brunch here just last Sunday and I must say I was pleased to see a clean and we'll kept dining room along with a handful of tasty offerings. Was disappointed that were seated upstairs when I request a table downstairs due to my disabilities, but it was less noisy so I can forgive that. Was also disappointed that they only offered one meat (ham) at the carving station and no mashed potatoes and gravy either. Staples I consider at my Easter dinners made at home. Overall I think it was satisfactory and would be willing to go back at least once more to see if they have made any improvements.

It was busy when we came as a large group. But they did well to accommodate us. Both my and my wife's orders were lost so our meals didn't come out in time with the rest of our groups food. However, once the waitress spotted the mistake she was very kind and apologized and she did her best to fix it. The family went to dinner at the Windham location after a fun day at Canobie Lake Park. My husband and I really like the Common Man family of restaurants even though I do not like the owners (as previously mentioned the owners have been known to be extremely harsh and disrespectful to their employees which I do not appreciate as a human being) however the food, atmosphere and service is awesome!! The employees really know how to do their job!!! Kudos!!! It was fun because our kids and their friends have never been to the Windham location (Ashland is our favorite). We used to go there before the renovation and haven't been there since so it was interesting to see the new interior. I think it is a little tight on space and probably won't go back to this location as I felt we were eating on top of each other as there is not much room between tables or rooms. In fact there was a party right behind us that was actually quite loud disrupting the atmosphere. We'll probably stick to the Merrimack location when we're home and savor the Concord and Ashland location when we're up north.

The common man was one of the best sit down restaurants I have been at. The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was very good for just hanging with your family or great for a date night. There was Christmas lights and a tree in the entrance and you also get white chocolate at the end of your meal! Overall I would recommend to anyone that wants a nice peaceful night out and amazing food.

Nice service, delicious food, but it took a long time for the food to come. We were there at 2pm on a Saturday so it wasn’t too busy. To their credit, we were given 10% off our bill and the manager spared us excuses and just apologized. Well handled, but it was a problem because we had our 86 year old parents with us. I also have to say the decor hasn’t been updated since the restaurant opened over 20 years ago, and it’s very tired. Time for a refreshing of the decor. There are ways to keep the colonial tavern feel without the mid-80s feel. Good location, parking on site, very good food.

You can't go wrong at any of The Common Man restaurants. Their food is fantastic, we've always had good service, and each restaurant is unique. Whether you're going to Common Man or Italian Farmhouse or any if their facilities, you won't be disappointed. They all offer something similar in their general operation, say cheese and crackers when you walk in or white chocolate when you leave. But some places you get bread and dark chocolate instead. And yet, these restaurants will have completely different themes and menus that impress every time. Another yearly destination for us in our annual NH trip.

It can get busy on holidays, especially ones like Mothers Day, etc. That may cause a major delay getting in the door and might slow down the service, but the food is still very good. Their holiday buffet specials can be good too, as they offer a wide variety of choices. I think the quality is a little higher on their regular menu, but the buffet is still worth it.

If we were living in Boston this would be our favorite go to place. It will be for our visits. Three of four of us are vegan and we all tried different dishes and shared. All loved them. Very well prepared and very flavorful. Dessert was also quite nice but one of the cupcakes was slightly overcooked. Still, all in all, a wonderful experience that we hope to repeat.

We go here for family occasions around the holidays for their buffets. The establishment is immaculate, staff is friendly and the food is superior. Naturally, they will be busy and crowded for an Easter brunch. Reservations are necessary for those types of events. Seating can be slightly cramped. If you want to avoid going up and downstairs for the buffet then sit on the lower level where the buffet is located. There is an elevator to the 2nd floor. They will also do private events such as wedding anniversary parties etc. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food and services provided.

The food was as good as the one in Clermont. We had no complaints. The staff was friendly. The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is because of the layout. It is definitely not handicap friendly. It's an old building, and like many old buildings in Concord that's not up to date to accommodate wheelchairs or in my case even people with canes. It was also very difficult to find any parking whatsoever let alone handicap parking, because they do not have enough handicap parking spaces available.

My boyfriend and I decided to go for a late dinner. Upon seeing the dining room closing in 30min we decided to come back another night as we felt it would be cruel to the staff. As we walked away the hostess came out calling us to come in and explaining that they had been having a unique night in which the hours would be extended. We were seated promptly, staff was all very friendly and the food was delicious. We are excited to return to try more options on the menu. My only complaint is that my appetite isn't big enough for all their delicious add ons!

My partner and I ate here for lunch the day on Friday, July 5th. First, the mushroom barley soup was the best I have ever tasted. I had a kind of "Harry met Sally" moment, just gushing over how wonderful it was. Truly, I never thought mushroom barley (which has disappointed me so many times in the past) could be so good. Their homemade potato chips were also outstanding, and I finished my partner's in record time. He had some kind of sandwich thing which I don't remember, and here is why: the service was very, very slow and left a lot to be desired. While at first, the crayons and brown paper covering the table were fun, after (a half hour, more?) of waiting for food, we turned to hangman, then became listless. Once our food was (finally) served, we weren't checked on again more than once, and I finally gave in and started to write, "HELP. Please bring our check" all over the brown paper. (My partner guilted me into coloring over it.) For a simple lunch, we spent WAY TOO LONG at this restaurant. Another couple remarked that it was the slowest service they'd had there. I got up, located our server, and requested the check. There was an error, and we later regretted pointing it out, as we had to wait, again, for the adjusted check. The part that was remarkable to me was that no one acknowledged the situation--not the server, not the hostess (or manager or whatever). We tipped 15%, as I didn't know if they were short-staffed or had an emergency. I have a lot of server karma to burn off (from when I waited tables in college), so I give the benefit of the doubt. My main issue was that, for a holiday weekend, during high travel season, the restaurant could have been better prepared for a not-crowded lunch service. No one seemed to be hustling or apologized for the long, long wait.

This is a true "find" that's hiding in plain site. The downstairs restaurant has quite a few cozy nooks and crannys perfect for couples as well as booths and larger tables to accomodate groups and families. Open since 1971, the building itself is much older with plenty of charm and character. The menu is New England comfort food with a great selection of apps, entrees and desserts. We had the Yankee Pot roast but we'll be back to try the rest of the menu. The wait staff was polite, helpful with suggestions, quick and attentive. Be sure and check out the upstairs pub, longe and outdoor deck. There are several seperate lounge areas with comfortable overstaffed chairs and sofas.

We stopped here for lunch while passing through town. The restaurant is lovely. Our waitress was very sweet and extremely competent. My husband and I both ordered the lobster and crab chowder. It was heaven in a bowl. Rich and creamy with a nice portion of lobster meat. In addition, we both got the BL Fried T (a bacon, lettuce and fried tomato) sandwich. The sandwich was delicious. Don't hesitate to stop here.

My girlfriend and I went here on date night and the food is fantastic. She got the blackened chicken with mango salsa and lime, and I got the New York Sirloin Steak. We shared the mud pie ice cream sandwich. It was TO DIE FOR. The walls are decorated in americana, and the environment is warm and welcoming. Server was patient and friendly. Highly recommend!

I have mixed reviews about this restaurant. The 2018 Thanksgiving buffet dinner they had was excellent, no complaints. And in fact we made reservations again for this year. However, I went with family for dinner in July and it was bad all the way around. They stuck us upstairs in a stifling hot corner and we had a 3mo old baby with us, we were all sweating. It took over an hour to get our food after ordering, and there was barely anyoneelse there. When we finally got food 4 out of the 5 meals were cold. And the only reason the 5th meal was hot is because it was baked and served in a cast iron skillet. They gave us all free dessert to make up for it but even that took almost a half hour to get once we ordered, and it wasn't that great. The only bright spot was our waitress, she was great, and it was her first day! I'm hoping they just had an off night but we'll see.

We usually love all of the Common Man restaurants but something was off this last time in Concord. Our Server was amazing and should get 10 stars. The food was not as great as it usually is. The Nantucket Pie which is usually very saucy and full of big chunks of seafood was very watered down and the shrimp were so small they looked like they came out of a can. My fiance had the crab cakes and there was far more stuffing than crab. It also had an odd taste. Not a great night but we'll be back.

I really like to go there with my husband, we usually seat at the bar dor drinks and appetizers, my favorite drink there is Raspberry Rum Runner is soft but the fruits flavors makes me feel at the Caribbean, as an appetizer the Flat Bread Pizza is delicious, the staff is so friendly and the atmosphere is so cool to talk and to have good times with friends, family... 2 parking lots available, outside tables for summer season with a lot of flowers to see.

Perfect for comfort food. We always stop here when going to White Mountains as a tradition. Favorites are the mussels and escargot apps. Uncommon salad is also great. Any of the entrees are a twist from basic home dishes. Ambience is casual country style and staff are always super friendly. The bill comes with shaved white chocolate.. yum!

After going here multiple times I can with great honesty say the food and staff are absolutely fantastic. On my latest visit I got the fancy grilled cheese (dont remember the name) the flavor was perfect along with the everything being cooked perfect it was the right amount of everything. I ordered turkey Shepard's pie. There was basically NO turkey in the entree. This first attempt toke 30 minutes to come to the table. I did not eat this serving and found a Manager to express my disappointment. He was apologetic and took it back and ordered a new for me. While I was waiting the manager offered a soup for free for me to have while waiting . I took the offer and the soup was good , but of course by the time it came I was quite hungry. After eating the soup I waited another 20 minutes for my entree. When it came out I dissected it to see if it had any turkey. It did have a few more pieces . Alas at this point I was filled by the soup so took the entree home. I want to point out this is a kitchen issue. As server was as pleasant as she could be throughout this food ordeal.

The common man is always a remarkable experience. The setting at the Ashland store is absolutely amazing. You feel like you are over the river and through the woods at a beautiful antique farmhouse. The one thing that wasn't perfect was the behavior of our three year old and five year old. They were all over the place being obnoxious yelling and throwing ice. Thankfully the other patrons laughed it off and identified with their own experiences raising little children. The service was spectacular and of course the food was awesome. A lot of value at reasonable prices. Highly recommend

They did forget to punch in our apps, but were kind enough to offer a dessert and gave us coupons for the next visit (which we will definitely use). My only recommendation is for the servers to explain the cheese station to first time guests, because I had no idea what that was about. Keeping the 5 stars because the food was that good!

A frequent visitor to the Common Man in Concord. Love to go hang with friends at the bar. We usually get appetizers, dinner and drinks and if we stay long enough someone convinces us to get dessert! The bar tenders and staff are fun, friendly and always polite. Food is always hot and timely. If there is ever an issue, it gets fixed right away. The management always comes by to see if we need anything and make sure we are enjoying our meal. If I'm not with friends, I am very comfortable going there for dinner alone, too. Great atmosphere. The only thing that freaks me out is the lady talking in the bathroom!! Please stop!

This place has a great country feel. Their food has been consistently delicious every time I have visited. I have been to the locations in Concord and Lincoln, NH. The staff is really friendly as is the overall atmosphere. They are unique in the way they point you towards the cheese and cracker station instead of serving rolls at the table. This is a family friendly place with seating for large and small parties alike. You won't be disappointed.
