As you know, we do not usually bother to set evaluations when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of American restaurant.
The dishes were nuanced, balanced, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. I had a house cocktail and a traditional Old-Fashioned, and both were well made. The service was on point, with confident knowledge of the menu and an engaging demeanor that managed to improve what was already a delightful experience.
Food was tasty. Brunch portions were good. Prices were $$, so not the worst. We waited a really long time for our food but got a percent off of it for the wait. However, our server went completely out of his way to give the men on the table the check, even though they were the farthest from him (picture attached for reference).
Excellent food, great waitstaff
Patricia Williams and then you have opinion
Awesome little find with a unique menu. Went here for brunch for the first time, would definitely recommend!
Best drinks in town. Get the bartender's whim.
Great place with excellent food. The bar staff were equal measures of masterfully efficient making drinks and personally attentive when making recommendations off the menu. The duck confit and cod tacos were both exceptional. The beer selection, while not huge, provided excellent options.
Food is excellent staff is awesome
Went twice during our visit. Yummy food!! General tso's cauliflower was on point as well as the chicken and waffles and the breakfast sandwich. I def recommend.
The Birch is just amazing! They have awesome plates of food (tapas) that are great for sharing. They switch it up regularly so every visit is not going to be the same. They do the same with drinks and they even come in just to test out new concoctions during closed hours so they always have a fresh drink menu too. It's a new age kind of place that is not like any restaurant I've ever been to before. Highly recommended!
Excellent service the food is incredible. This is a must go for all and get the word out.
The chef is vegan and made us some special vegan meals that weren't on the menu. Everything was so good, definitely recommend going there
tremendous tapas & superb service
Best food in Manchester, hands down. Menu changes every season. Food is interesting, unique, and cooked to perfection. There is a real chef here. This goes the same for the drinks which is an extensive list. They made me a custom drink that was too good to be true. Awesome brunch spot and even better dinner spot
I really love the Birch, their classic cocktails, clever creations, and low key atmosphere make it a great place for a couple's night out
Delicious brunch options and handmade cocktails. The breakfast black rice was a unique and the delicious take on brunch. The handcrafted cocktails were the icing on the cake. Will visit again when in the area. A hidden gem!
Absolutely fabulous. The food was phenomenal. Everything we had was cooked and seasoned perfectly. HUGE compliments to the chef, bartender, and wait staff. Cannot wait to go again.
lunch recently, smallish, darkish place with a huge canoe hanging over the bar....pleasantly greeted upon arriving..drink variety great and watching the bartender , carefully made, though not huge....menu very different, we had the octopus app which we both thought was great, i had the braised tongue tartine and wife had the shrimp and grits, both excellent and nicely presented...you sort of have to look for this place or at least know the address as it would be easy to miss.....don't!!
Great menu that changes frequently, amazingly fresh and locally sourced ingredients, always a great dining experience.
Phenomenal handcrafted cocktails.
Great Cocktails. Bartenders are fun to watch. Great food.
Excellent cocktails, go for brunch
Great food and service. Make sure you try the octopus chunks. Our server (Dan) did a great job with the recommendations.
I've been here twice and both times it's been a wonderful experience. Our first visit really sums up my thoughts on BoE... Went there with my husband and our two friends and after perusing the menu we decided that instead of telling the waitress what we'd like to order... We told her what few items we did not want to try. We had one of almost everything, including the desserts and every dish exceeded our expectations. Our waitress was phenomenal and we got a kick out of it when she reported back from the kitchen and said that the chef was thrilled to have us at the restaurant. The drinks are top notch and the restaurant itself is small but very warm and inviting. This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Manchester and I look forward to going back soon!
Our family was in Manchester looking for something different and walked past this restaurant. From the outside it looked like so many other eateries on Elm Street, but upon entering we knew this would be different. Cozy seating and the open atmosphere were pleasant, it was instantly obvious this isn't a high-volume restaurant. Good music played in the background, which appeared to be adjusted to the background volume perfectly. You can have a conversation without being loud, and when you were quiet, the music came through. The food offered is in a "tapas style format", so it is best experienced by sharing your meal. Our (unadventurous) appetizer was simple homemade bread - it was delicious, and obviously just came out of the oven. The whipped butter and accompanying pickles were just the right flavor. Want to be more adventurous than me, just try the Octopus Nuggets. Throughout the evening our meals were served, fresh from the kitchen when ready. This is not a place that will hold a dish until the others are ready, so you are assured of a freshly prepared and presented meal. Of course, that means we were sharing from each others' dishes. We ordered Crispy Pork Belly, Italian Sausage Stuffed Bao, and a Gnocchi. We each had our preferences, but all agreed that each was incredibly tasty.
The place is nice and the service too. The food is pretty good. What I didn't like is that considering the small portions, I found it a bit overpriced! We tryed 3 main courses (all of them very small), 1 shared appetizer, 2 beers. 90$ before tip is honestly too much. It would be a reasonable price if the main course was a real main course and not just a taste of it. Btw the server was very good.
They make some of the best drinks in town!
Unusual food, but very good, staff very helpful. Parking could be a problem
Way over priced, $30 for two drink (one being a beer). I've been here twice, first time we split a dish and the food was good. Over all experience was not impressive, took us a year to come back. Second visit was disappointing. We tried...
Incredible farm to table, tapas-style restaurant. Clean, calm atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food. Each dish is lovingly crafted and thoughtfully created with flavor, texture, temperature, and appearance considered and weighed. The love and respect the whole staff has for their ingredients shines with every impressive mouthful. Each bite was more delicious and delightful than the last, fresh and bright, leaving you satisfied but craving more. Seasonal menus ensure constantly fresh product. Everyone at The Birch on Elm, both back and front of house, is brimming with passion and love for good, fresh, appealing food.
Food was delicious, excellent beer selection, atmosphere and service were great!
I've been going to the Birch on Elm since it's opened a couple of years ago. They have a young and up and coming crowd with choices between classic cocktails and tiki inspired drinks! The food is in fact amazing and they do a good job in that department. The only thing that I always warn people about, and the only thing that would make me give this place an absolute five star review... Is how they bring out the food. And I understand and I have understood since they've opened, that yes, they bring it out to you "tapas" style/ as it's prepared. And this is fine if you are by yourself and your shareable/appetizer got to you before your meal. (sometimes it does not) However, if you go with friends or family, the problem becomes everyone gets their food at a different time, and I am not going to eat my food (despite the urging of the staff, I'll get to this in a minute) in front of my friends because I see that as rude. Now, I all ready know that the food is brought out this way, but I don't need to be reminded by the staff that "it says it right on the menu" and the last time I was there, I did not appreciate the attitude that was served to me. Now everyone has bad days, and the Birch has had very friendly staff in the past and I've known the bartenders and the servers and it's great! But the last time it was a little embarrassing. And despite the urge and the explanation from the staff... I am still waiting for my friends to get their food so we can enjoy and imbibe the same experience. Because food brings us all together, and we should all share that, and I certainly don't mind the price, it's well worth the quality being served to you.
Brunch was really great! Food was really well prepared and presented. The interior looks amazing as well. Service was fast and friendly.
Great little spot with exceptional food! Fish tacos and foie gras hash were excellent.
It's been in my list of places to try for awhile. So very glad we made it in tonight! Everything was delicious, we tried a quick bite and 2 tapas, plus dessert, every single dish was amazing. The staff was helpful and attentive. The menu is interesting but slightly limited for nut allergies but there is no bad choices!
Always incredible food and drinks. The staff is always friendly and accommodating! Will definitely be back here and would recommend to anyone!!
My Rating: 4.6... It's a newer concept for the Manchester, NH food scene. Small plate Tapas! Fun but expensive date night of share dishes and conversing which dish tasted the best. Talented Chef with a rotating seasonal menu. Crafted cocktails and good service add to The Birches charm.
Excellent food and cocktails with great service. Has a cool upscale yet chill vibe. I was alone at the bar, but I'd highly recommend for a date. Can't wait to try it again for brunch!
Very good food and atmosphere.
Always amazing, the craftsmanship and attention to detail in their drinks is unmatched. A little expensive but what definitely on par for what you get, great date night idea !
Great food, great service with excellent selection of mixed and local beers. Looking forward to returning.
Excellent!!!
Best restaurant in NH by far. Also a real kick ass bar with old school drinks and modern concoctions!
Great bartenders and location
Just finished brunch. The food was amazing! I cannot get over how much flavor was in the food. The drinks are great and well presented. I would recommend this place for any occasion!
One of the best restaurants in Manchester. The interior is semi-formal and cozy and fits the style of the venue well. Menus are fluid to reflect the season, locally sourced crops, and new inventions of the chef. Ingredients that don't sound compatible all seem to form delicious small plates. Servers have always been wonderful and possess significant knowledge over the food and drink menus. Cocktails are prepared to entertain your senses, with many common, new age, and old school options available. Well worth the price tag. Worth a visit. If I could give a sixth star I would.
Good food but pricey.
Impressive food. The drinks have unique names and live up to those expectations.
My wife and I just ate here for the second time In a year and it was great. As some reviews state it isn’t the most cost effective establishment on Elm, but I don’t think the owner is looking to attract bargain hunters
Brunch is incredible! The staff were knowledgeable and helpful when making a decision and kudos to the chef for their amazing flavors and portion size, definitely recommend!!
I truly can’t say enough amazing things about this place from their staff to their food, cocktails, service, and ambiance. Back in September, two days before our rehearsal dinner in Andover, MA, we found out that our venue had to cancel due to the gas explosions. My husband and I were extremely stressed searching for back up options and never expected our “back up” would be one of the best and most memorable parts of our wedding weekend. We got in touch with Kaitlyn from The Birch on Elm. She quickly spoke to the owner, allowed us to rent out the entire space at an extremely reasonable price, shared options for a family style dining menu (which was unreal) within a few hours, and put on the most amazing night for our 45 guests. Our guests (and my husband and I) were blown away. The staff let us come in and set up for our night early, they accommodated our guest’s food allergies and allowed us to choose custom food options for our less adventurous family and friends. They even brought us what octopus they had on such short notice because I told them how much I loved it. Every detail of our vision was made a reality because of this place and we are forever grateful. We cannot wait to visit again and eat our faces off. One hundred star review on all fronts.
Great atmosphere and a really inventive menu. Octopus nuggets? Never thought I'd like them, but I loved them: tender, perfectly fried, with an awesome Korean BBQ sauce. It's all tapas style so you can get a few dishes to share. Street corn, tacos, pork belly, and a ridiculously tasty dessert rounded out a truly excellent culinary experience. The drinks menu is similarly inventive and on point. Only downside is they don't do reservations, but i didn't have much of a wait either time I visited. Could be an issue just prior to shows at nearby venues, but if you get in early, you should be fine.
Great medium plate tapas restaurant. If you have 2 or three people you can order multiple random plates share and be happy and full by the end of the night. Service was relaxed and knowledgeable. Super happy to eat here. We will be back
Food was good, but pricy
Amazing cocktails and delicious food. The service is great too. I’ve been 3 times and will be back many more!
Love this place. They keep coming out with new and wonderful dishes seasonally. Very much looking forward to the new place they are opening up across the street.
So incredibly good, the service is impeccable and the food even better I eat here often and it is other worldly every damn time. Dan is the man
Great cocktails with an elevated feel from much of the rest of the city. Part of the new wave of restaurants/bars in Manch that are bringing exciting foods and delicious drinks. Definitely worth of visit, with super friendly staff. The octopus hot dog is absolutely worth a try, and I love the Bobby Vegetal cocktail!
Went to birch with a few friends for brunch. Food was good but I didn't like how everyone dish came out at a different time.
Very good drinks. Unique and great presentation.
Just looking for a not-diner option for breakfast and stumbled in for brunch. HOLY %$@% THIS FOOD IS AMAZING. I will dream of this pork belly Benedict for months.
Wish we had come here for dinner. The drinks were amazing!!! If you want to try something new, just tell Jeremy what you like and enjoy! Edit: We could not resist trying something. The homemade sourdough, octopus bites, brussel sprouts, and shishito peppers were delicious.
My favorite restaurant in Manchester and possibly all of NH. The menu changes with the seasons and always feels fresh. The food is so, so good here. I don't really understand comments about this spot being expensive. We typically pay $8-10 for apps and $15-20 per entree --hardly out of the norm for good food. The cocktail menu is not to be missed --truly, can't be stressed enough, these are really high quality, thoughtful recipes. The guys behind the bar are impressive mixologists and will never let you down. Atmosphere is great. Good for a relaxed night with friends, just as good for date night.
Amazing. Everything was delicious. The waiter was great and very personable. Loved the atmosphere. I can't say enough good about it. I was so happy that we found this place in our travels. Highly recommend.
Perfect drinks
NJ
I definitely enjoyed the food and I give high marks for the bar and the vibe too. Good service. I feel a little burned by the prices, though. Two Tapas, one cocktail, and two cokes was $55 without the tip. Ouch. I would DEFINITELY return for the food, but not often because of the cost. Ownership: if you ease-up on the prices a little bit, you will have the finest place in Manchester- hands down. Please think about it.
Tasty and unique food you wont find anywhere else in New Hampshire. Many items on the menu are exotic and they come in smaller portions. More casual than you think.
Place deserves five stars for food and service. It gets three because they won’t take reservations regardless of party size or circumstances. When I have a large group, I’m not going to take a chance not having a reservation, so they lose that business.
The food here is very good, however the management is extremely sketchy. I had a verbal agreement with the owner to host a party and for four months he ignored my phone calls, emails, and visit to the restaurant. I couldn't even get him to say that he would no longer honor his verbal commitment. Extremely poor management and business practices.
The Birch on Elm is always a great dining experience!
Always a great atmosphere, amazing drinks and awesome food!!!
The vibe of this place was incredible. I had a wonderful time relaxing and letting the worries of the day fade. Blood and Sand was a delicious and sweet drink that had a bit of tang. I also was able to try the penachillin' (w/o the mint garnish) and it was great ! Chocora Rye Whiskey sold here
These guys know what they are doing! Delicious food and amazing cocktails! The ambiance is superb and different from anything in not alone in Elm but in Manchester and NH all together ! Check them out, you won't be disappointed.
Nice little spot of you like to split a few tapas with a loved one. All the food is local and fresh.
Went for a Christmas party and had a blast.the food was spot on and so were the cocktails. Will Wheaton's doppelganger mixed me some bourbon drinks that were delicious. Going back for brunch. The staff was accommodating and fun.id give it more stars if I could. Edit 3-1-19 Went back, again the food and drink was so fresh and prepared perfectly. We enjoyed 6 items from the menu and 8 different cocktails amongst the 3 of us we sit at the bar to watch the mixologist at work, which is a whole element itself. Octopus, pork belly, chicken and waffles, succulent general gao cauliflower, Italian sausage bao and cod tacos and a macaron to finish ,(not to he confused with a macaroon).the mixologist Devon created some of the best cocktails we ever had including mocktails for our DD. Can't say enough .just go and see for yourself.
This place goes above and beyond to give you good service! All the food was amazing. Ian was fabulous! The heart and soul in this place is very obvious. A must!!!
Really cool place. Delicious beer and appetizers.
Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing passion. I spend a fair amount of time in Manchester and have dined at almost all the restaurants on or near Elm worth going to. The Birch is easily the best of the bunch. Even better than XO or Republic. The passion and joy are definitely here.
Awesome food
My brain is still asking my tongue and stomach "did that just happen?" ;)
It was a small crowded place but cute. Tables are a bit close making conversations easily overheard. Drinks are definitely artisanal to say the least with very unique flavor combinations. I had a drink called clouds and dirt, but I think they forgot the clouds part. It legit tasted like alcoholic dirt. I try not to judge drinks by their name and instead go by ingredients listed, but despite liking all the ingredients for this drink, I apparently don't like them together. However if you like dirt, then I say go for it! The food combinations were alright. I had salmon with cabbage mixed with chorizo. Not the best flavors for accentuating the salmon. If anything the chorizo overpowered the salmon leaving a greasy "sausagey" feel. Not to mention the citrus foam that resembled spittle. Seriously. My friend loved the duck confit with goat cheese. The presentations of the chocolate dessert was a bit... Ahem interesting, sort of a bit unappealing. Just look at the picture. So all in all, would I come here again? Eh, probably not, especially when I have given 5 stars to Firefly Bistro and Ignite Bar and grill. But if you want a memorable meal experience for better or worse, then come here. Otherwise the service was fabulous with a very knowledgeable waiter . We had 4 alcoholic beverages, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts for $116.
Great vibe, super atmosphere, food was uniquely spectacular ... Some items simply too pricey for what you're getting.
Awesome place to get drinks and delicious food ! Good people and solid atmosphere too.
Enjoyed the coconut lamb curry ramen special -- dead on perfect cold weather food. A couple excellent beverages and of course the octopus nuggets, every time.
The food was fine but it was too expensive for what you get. For those prices I either want my food to be super fancy and absolutely delicious, or large portions, and it was neither. The staff also took like 25 minutes to pour our drinks is which was weird and then didn't acknowledge that fact or offer us a free drink. If you're trying to be a super nice restaurant, you should practice over the top customer service.
Good food, forgettable cocktails.
This is a relatively small place. During the week it's a tapas bar, but at least on the weekend mornings, it also does brunch. That's what we experienced. The menu rotates seasonally, and is quite good. The food is well done, the staff is friendly, the service is quick, and the prices aren't unreasonable. I would definitely recommend someone try them out.
Good service and awesome cocktails. The menu is pleasantly surprising!
One of my favorite spots Manchester, I always stop here when I go out! Must have the bees knees!!! The food is also to die for!!!
The food was excellent and came out fast. The crazy cocktail list was impressive.
Decent food but way overpriced! $15 to $20 for essentially appetizer portions.
Best Octopus i have ever had. Great staff and very friendly 10/10!
Great cocktails and friendly staff
As always, the staff were very personable and attentive, food was amazing and unique, warm inviting atmosphere. Love it
Amazing staff, food is a bit pricey but the quality of it is well worth it. Great cocktails
A warm, inviting tapas bar/restaurant with interesting and unique dishes as well as delicious cocktails
Really interesting food. Went there for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. First, the place looks great. Small, but a lot of character, good decor, and clean. The menu is small, but they have a lot of twists on standard brunch fare. We ordered the octopus nuggets, chicken and waffles, pork bellies BLT, and biscuits and gravy. First came the the octopus nuggets which were fantastic. Not too heavily fried, fluffy exterior, and delicious taste. Highly recommended. The BLT came next, also super yummy. Chicken and waffles were different. Scallions were cooked into the waffles and they were less sweet than I expected, which suited me perfectly. The biscuits and gravy came with lamb pieces which were excellent and broccoli rabe was cooked very nicely. Presentation of the food was also excellent. The only criticisms I have are that the portions are on the small side. Would like to go back for dinner some time and see what else they have.
Pork belly tacos, octopus nuggets (pictured) , and the duck confit with brussels and scrambled eggs special were all phenomenal.
Creativity in food, combine with excellent service, young enthusiast ownership and great atmosphere without being pretentious. Menu change quite often and every visit is an exciting surprise.. NH have been waiting for a place like that for many years.
Delicious food, 3-4 plates is plenty for two people.
Great tapas, amazing drinks, super staff
Exceeded expectations. Great tapas. Try the tempura fried octopus, burrata, beef tacos, crab cakes.
Although small, great atmosphere. Went to a special dinner event here, it was fantasic!
Great place with an amazing staff. Nice drink selections and delicious food.
Such an interesting array of cocktails and delicious small plates. Got to get Rob for your server, he's the bestest!!!
Fantastic food.
Great food, great atmosphere, excellent service. Found this cute and cozy place while looking for a place to have dinner. Walked in and was greeted by the hostess who offered to take our jackets. The waiter was funny, charming, personable, and offered help when picking out drinks and menu items. Spot on with drink selection! (The drink was named after him). Will deffinently be heading back for further dinners or lunches.
Great food and drinks! Try the sofrito cuscus! It was so good! Every tapa was excellent and I'm typically pretty critical.
Wow. Great small plate meals. Great cocktails. Great service. Not cheap but worth it.
Have been here twice, once for dinner and a second time for brunch and I cannot recommend Birch enough! I'm almost afraid to give it a good review because we have been able to get a seat very easily and don't want the place swamped with entitled yuppies like other good restaurants in Manchester. But The Birch deserves a 5 star review hands down. I would describe the food as modern American tapas with an emphasis on farm to table and locally sourced ingredients. The menu is very well priced and changes seasonally. The main tapas are well portioned and if you get a couple or three with an app or two, for two people you'll be more than satisfied. The wait staff are exceptionally knowledgeable and attentive. They are able to well articulate both the drink menu and the food menu, including ingredients and flavors. Also if you tell them what you like, they can recommend dished and drinks. I don't drink but the bartender was able to craft me and my wife a mocktail suited to our palate. The bar also has it's own house-made bitters, shrubs, and aromatics. The dishes that were memorable were the French onion poutine, the duck confit congee, and confit pork belly for dinner; all excellently prepared and presented. Brunch was even better with fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, and a special chorizo eggs with hollandaise. The dessert pumpkin cheesecake was also outstanding. I've been to some of the top restaurants in Manchester - The Foundry, Mint, Cotton - and I can say this is on par if not better. I think The Birch is more original, more flavorful, and overall more enjoyable than any other restaurant in Manchester. I've also eaten at some of the best restaurants in Boston and The Birch holds its own as a very worthy dining destination.
Our experience was exceptional. Service from Dan, cocktails, plates and desserts were all something to write home about. I will 100% be back and recommend this restaurant to my friends
Cocktails were amazing as was the food. The Octopus Nuggets are some of the best octopus I have ever had. I also recommend the Tomato Tartare. Very surprised by this hidden gem in Manchester. Have to go back.
Great place! The cocktails are classic yet innovative and the chef is on point.
A number of items on the menu sound weird but everything was delicious.
Fantastic place to eat and enjoy a fine beverage. Good whiskey selection and fantastical cocktails!
The chicken with mushroom sauce was amazing and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. The service and hospitality was exactly what you would like it to be, not overbearing but not invisible at the same time.
My family decided to try this place out for lunch. The place wasn't too busy during lunchtime and had highchairs for my toddler to use. The food is tapas style so food comes out as it gets done. I really enjoyed the breakfast taco that had tasty pork belly and got an order of the frites. My husband got a mimosa and my father-in-law got a cold brew coffee to go with their food. Both enjoyed their drinks a lot. The food is a good sized portion for the price and the server was very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place and would go back again.
Great bartenders, food and atmosphere
Excellent place for adventurous eaters. The Octopus Nuggets are the best! The care and excitement that everyone on the staff at Birch has for food really shines through. Everything from drinks to dessert is amazing.
Great food, great service, great drinks. HIGHLY recommend!
Great farm to table food and amazing cocktails
Excellent. Highly recommended. Do try the octopus. The cocktails are incredible.
Spectacular food!
Loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious!
Delicious food and unique cocktails
Like the best of Boston in Manchester. Unique menu. Steak was perfect! Awesome specialty drinks. Talented staff. Great experience. Just go.
The cherry cork dessert...had it with a mini- french press of coffee an cream - fantastic!
Creepy to weird staff. Three times I felt the same vibe. Why was the male bar tenders hitting on the clientele? Did they forget about the customers??
Lamb Poutine was amazing!!
Some of the best food in Manchester. Service is great. Low-key ambiance. Highly recommend.
Small and tasty portions make it worth a place to eat.
Delicious food, comfortable atmosphere, strong drinks, and the staff have magnificent beards.
It’s difficult to find classy places in Manchester to grab some unique and tasty drinks and food. This is your spot!
Always a great stop
Great specialty cocktails, nice friendly bar. The food looked great, just dropped in for an after dinner drink, happy to see this in Manchester
Great tapas and cocktails
The CEO!
This place is amazing. Great cocktails and insanely good food. Their bread is the most ridiculously good bread I’ve ever had.
Come in with an open mind, blindfold yourself and throw darts at the menu to determine your selection. You won't be disappointed. If you're skeptical about selecting things at random, the octo-nuggs are on point.
Great place to share tapas. Very laid back ambiance.
Incredible food with impeccable service.
We arrived too late to sample their menu, but Dan was kind enough to warm up some of their delicious homemade bread to enjoy with our cocktails. Jeremy (I believe that was his name) behind the bar makes amazing drinks. Can't wait to return for dinner!
Excellent cocktails
So I'm not really one to post reviews, but I feel that this restaurant is worth reviewing. I don't know where the chef trained or if he is professionally trained at all, but their food taste like a five-star restaurant and they deserve a five-star review. I ate there for the first time last night and although they're on the more expensive side I regret none of it. We ordered grilled octopus, a rabbit dish, the short rib dish, a lamb and pumpkin seed Curry, and a pork bun dish. We also got quite a few drinks. I love the option of the bartenders whim where you get to pick a liquor of your choice and get surprised with a drink not on the menu. Their bartenders are very good and their selection of alcohol and beer is wonderful. I love that they locally-source as much as they can and make as much from scratch as they can. I think it's fair to say that this restaurant is one of the best I've been to since moving to Manchester thus far. I look forward to going again sometime and their new seasonal menu.
Really innovative cooking. Naturally, some dishes don't carry it off, but it's a pleasure to graze through an assortment of smaller plates, trying new things you haven't seen before in Manchester restaurants. The drinks are well concocted and pack a real punch. Small venue, attentive service, helpful without over-doing the forced intimacy. Prices are in fact high; this is not a spot for penny-pinching, but for what it is - an upper shelf tapas spot - it's not unreasonable. My wife is a vegetarian, and Birch always has a number of dishes that work for her. Definitely 5 stars.
Amazing food
