This Restaurant belongs to the category of Korean restaurant.
There aren't many options for Korean food in Nashua, but Shira Kiku is a great place to choose. The staff is very friendly and they provided me and my friends with great service. The food is pretty standard for good Korean place, and they also offer some good quality sushi. Just watch out for the closing times on the weekends, they seem to like closing a bit before the posted times. At some places I'd be a little upset about that, but it seems like an older couple runs this place and I can understand stand that staying open for an extra hour for one or two tables isn't really worth it for them. Give it a shot!
Spicy pork was almost as great as the hosts!
Great restaurant, friendly owners and staff, many unique menu items.
They treated us like family. The food and service was amazing. I am coming here every time I come to nashua, worth every penny.
Very authentic Korean food. A bit expensive though
Food is good, the service is slow. If you have time to relax and enjoy then check it out. Don't judge a book by the cover on this one. It looks like a house on the outside and a bit cluttered at the front entry but the food is good. Nice family run business.
Wonderful food Great service will go again
Gear food and even better overall experience. Great family owned restaurant!
AMAZING food. Best sushi I have ever eaten! The staff is kind and once prepared a meal that wasn't even on the menu for me! Problem is, it is QUITE expensive, but totally worth the cost!
Friendly Staff and the food was second to none. Jeany & Rob enabled an excellent atmosphere and a most enjoyable evening. Thank you both
A restaurant with friendly service and even better food. The kimchi is home made and outstanding!
The people who own it are very friendly and the food is tasty. A bit on the expensive side, but worth it.
Wonderful food.
taste so godd and very kind grandma ^^
LOVED this place!! Amazing food!!!
Excellent sushi and Korean dishes. Family owner and run. Very friendly and great food.
Food is great. Wait staff, not so much. The place closes at 10pm, we got there at 830pm. We got to our table within 10 minutes. Waited another 10 to get our orders in. After 10 minutes, a couple of people came in, sat and less than 5 minutes they got their drinks! Meanwhile, we were still waiting on ours. The same guy that took our orders asked us if we wanted water. Reminded him that we were waiting on our ordered drinks. Few minutes later drinks finally at our table. Following that, the entrees started coming in. Towards the end of our meal...the miso soup came! If it weren't for the great tasting food I had already left. In addition to confusing wait staff, the bus boy dances around, amusing but inappropriate at the same time. I felt bad for the two mom and pop korean owners. They were very nice and wish that the two persons working for them would give the same behavior as the owners.
Great food and lovely staff. Lots of fun!
Very authentic Korean food.
This place has set the sushi standard for me. Very few places come close in taste, display, or friendliness of staff. Always a good time. Highly recommend this place if you like sushi.
Korean food is hard to find in these parts. This place is like Mecca to a Muslim if you're a fan. It's totally worth the trip, even though I live 45 minutes away!
The food was great
Good local food
This is our favorite restaurant. We go here at least once every two weeks, sometimes more often. The meals begin with complimentary banchan - about 6 little dishes with a few bites of assorted goodies that vary each time, but which always, always include a sample of their wonderful kimchee - the best kimchee I've ever had. We know that the rest of dinner will be so delicious that we'll eat until we're much too full. But sometimes we just can't resist having a little sushi - one of our favorites is the Moon River maki roll, with unagi (eel), avocado and scallop. Then we select one of the main dishes on the Korean Special menu. We've tried and enjoyed everything on the Korean Specials menu, but here are the ones we keep coming back to: Japchae (mild comfort food in the form of glass noodles, vegetables and beef); Kimchi Tofu Jeyook Bokum (spicy kimchee, pork, rice cake and tofu) - totally addictive; Kalbi (short ribs marinated for 3 days & so succulent they melt in your mouth); Pork Gui (spicy grilled sliced pork, also thoroughly addictive); Soon Dobu Chigae (mildly spiced stew of seafood, vegetables and soft tofu); Stonepot Bibimbop (rice crusted in a hot stone pot with all kinds of goodies & a spicy sauce on the side so you can adjust the spiciness from nothing to very spicy). It's a family run restaurant, but everyone is so friendly that it feels like your family.
Great pho, amazing sushi, and very friendly staff in a cozy setting. You can't go wrong here.
Awesome korean restaurant with good value!! I like their stone pot dinners and they have very friendly service. I highly recommend.
The food was excellent. The wait staff was kind of disorganized, but I seems that this restaurant is mainly run by the chef and his wife, who are old and have to take their time when taking your order.
Loved the staff, they make the place. Great food, too!
Great service and food!
The food and the service are amazing the sushi chef is outstanding.
Authentic, delicious, Korean dishes and sides. Top quality and high marks on flavor. The menu has so much to choose from with excellent descriptions/explanations and includes a long list of sushi, maki, and sashimi. The owners are very friendly and discuss their food with passion and enthusiasm. The dining room is quaint and comfortable, but can accommodate large parties. Don't miss this Gem the next time you are looking for an amazing meal! I'm adding Shira KIKU to my favorite restaurants list!
Nice
The food was okay but the staff gave us food we didn’t order and added $75 for that.
Cute and cozy little restaurant. Not too crowded during normal week days, which is perfect for couples. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the ambiente makes you feel like you just wound up in a small town in South Korea (there is K-pop on the radio and beautiful Korean paintings). Furthermore, there is free wifi and the bathrooms are clean and tidy. The Korean meals and the sushi are just fantasic! I recommend Bibimbop, Bulgogi, Kimchi Chigae, Tang Su Yuk and Yuk Gae Jang. As a starter you always get home made Kimchi (the lady who makes them is happy to explain to you what exactly it is that you are eating and how it is made). The main courses are usually served with a bowl of rice and served sizzling or boiling hot. The staff is super friendly and polite. If you have any questions, they are happy to help you out. Shira Kiku is just a great place to eat. Delicious, cozy, congenial.
You need TIME to eat here. This is a mom and pop sushi spot and they choose the most exceptional fish and ingredients. Sushi takes a while to come out, but it is worth it. Be careful about the prices - one roll can cost you $17! The miso is so damn good.
Like so many things, it is not what is outside but what is inside (your belly) that counts....(Yes, that's a modified Disney quote.
Food is ok but a bit pricey
Best Sushi I've had in this area! The drinks are delicious too! Hidden treasure. We love it there! :)
A local gem. The matriarch makes the kimchi and her husband masses the sauces. Service can be slow on busy nights and the bill creeps up pretty quick but the sushi, while minimal in options, is the best quality I've had in the area. Also, their rice is always amazing. I have no idea how Asian places usually have mediocre rice but that has never been an issue here. My favorite dishes are jeeyook bokum and hot basil fried rice in addition to the sushi.
Shira Kiku is our favorite restaurant in Nashua. The food is always good.
The service is great, and the food is made fresh every day. Made fresh to order. Best flavors, truly great food. Just love that it is family owned and operated.
If you want to try something new it is something different.
Amazing food; great staff! We called ahead and requested samgibsam (off the menu) and Korean hot tea (beudicha - also off menu). It was amazing, and they were so kind. Definitely make the stop if you're looking for great Korean food.
God but a bit pricey
Awesome service, awesome food, but it's kind of expensive.
Very expensive. Not many oplther options. Not kid friendly.
Nice people, good food, cozy location = AWESOME!!! COME HERE NOW!!!!!
Love the owners of the place. Food is authentic and delightfully good! Would love to come to this place again.
The best sushi in the area. We eat there regularly it's always great
Always great food, great service, they have a definite dinner rush at 7pm!
I'd give it more stars if I could.
This is a wonderful place to come for a family dining experience with some of the best Korean side dishes around.
Updated September 2019: I can no longer recommend this place. I ordered a tofu soup, and I was served the pork version. When I complained, the waiter literally tried to hand pick out the pork pieces and hand it back to me to eat! Lol, thankfully he missed some pieces and I complained to the owners who had the soup remade, without meat. The woman owner simply said "oh it's ok, he (the waiter) doesn't know Korean food." Therefore, I won't be returning here and can't recommend to anyone with dietary restrictions or vegetarians. When I first encountered this waiter, I thought he was just new, but he's been there for at least 8 months now. It's a shame. I really love the food and the couple who owns it are so sweet. The help they've hired to staff the dining room though is rude (the owner hollers at him to take my order, and then he just comes up to the table and stands there, annoyed, without saying anything like hello or what can I get for you, just awkwardly stares at you) and a hazard (ordering tofu version of soup, being served pork, and then trying to pick out pork by hand and give it back to me to eat) . Original posting from 2016: Best korean around. I drive an hour just to eat here. (Photos are from 2016)
Great Korean food and friendly atmosphere. A lot of locals that keep coming back.
This has some of the best sushi I've ever had. The only place I'd trust to order any sushi plate and know I'd enjoy whatever he brings me. Best korean food including the kimchi, everything is always delicious and the family who owns it is incredibly friendly.
Food was excellent. Staff was excellent and helpful. Definitely going again.
Excellent food
Let me start off by saying this place surpassed many of my expectations of Asian food in the U.S. It was like real Korean food and we were served special Korean side plates before our meal. The only thing that was kind of a downfall for them was that I thought they were far more expensive than many of the other Asian restaurants that I frequently visit. My sushi order came with cucumber when I had asked for no cucumber. However all the other foods we were served had more than made up for that. Their restaurant was much cleaner than many local Asian restaurants. Their service went above and beyond. Our waitress was ready to serve us or help us with anything and she was upbeat and energetic. Our dinner meal was excellent in every way. It came piping hot on a hot plate and both meals had the perfect amount of sauce and flavor. UPDATE: Went back and my meal was perfect and so was my waitress. The food is still very very expensive though and I spend 100 every time I go.
Food was great, and we were served by Jeannie, the proprietor. She made us feel like family with her energetic, colorful personality.
Addicted..that is all
This is not only my favorite Korean restaurant but my favorite restaurant overall in Nashua. Classic mom and pop restaurant with homemade complimentary kimchee, friendly service, awesome mai tais, what more could you ask for?
This place is amazing! Delicious food, hilarious and super friendly waitstaff. They remember us and look forward to seeing us again. Very accommodating to vegan needs as well. Highly highly recommended. Best vegan food in the area.
Like there bi-bim-bap and basil fried rice
Great food and staff, sushi to meals
Very good Korean food! Even though some may think it is on the pricey side, the food is very similar to what you would get in South Korea. The stone pot bipimbap is served in an actual stone bowl, allowing the rice to really crisp up. The kimchi is homemade, and the kimchi stew, korean style is great(watch out for bones)!
Seriously amazing. Great service and authentic Korean food. Could not be more excited that we found this gem. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced. The waitress is THE BEST! She is so friendly and funny. I see some people complaining that she is too loud. Honestly, that is why we keep coming back. She makes you feel like family! I like to try something new every time we go, and everything I've had is incredible. This is the stuff you have dreams of and crave non-stop. If you like Korean food... don't miss this place.
Disclaimer: We did not actually eat the food here, which is the sole reason I am not giving only 1 star! My boyfriend and I had to try this place after seeing the rating and reviews. We went around 1230PM for lunch before my boyfriend had to go to work, probably an hour and a half before he'd have to start driving to work. We waited 10 minutes in the front lobby before anyone greeted us. We were then seated in the dining room, and our server told us to take our time because "we're eating" (referring to the entire staff). The 4 staff members on duty at the time were all seated together in a booth in the dining room, and had just begun eating their lunch. We shrugged it off and looked at the menu. When we placed our orders, the server gestured to the group of them that were eating and said, "You're not in a hurry, yes? It will be a bit of a wait." I understand this is a Mom and Pop restaurant, however it should be shut down for lunch if the entire staff plans to have a sit-down lunch during restaurant hours. We ended up saying never mind, that we were in somewhat of a rush because we could tell that no one was planning to forgo eating to make our food when no one set aside their lunch after we placed our orders. This was extremely uncomfortable to the point where I noticed I left my sunglasses at the table after walking to my car and didn't return because of how awkward we were made to feel when we said we actually were in a little bit of a hurry. I'm sad to say I won't be giving them a second chance, because I really wanted to have a place for good sushi and ramen close to home.
Great food. LOVE the seafood pancakes. A little pricey but good.
Incredible cuisine!! The traditional Korean Bi Bim Bap is addictive, and they go out of there way to make you feel at home!!
Best stone pot ive ever had good drinks great atmosphere server's make you feel like you're at your own house
Best sushi I've ever had! Moist rice (not dry at all) and they add sesame seeds! They have some delicious Korean entrees as well.
Best Korean food in town!
Excellent Korean staples and the staff are super friendly. They are one of the two places in Nashua that you can get ramen, the other being Yoshimama. If its your first time eating Korean, try the stone pot bibimbap.
Family run, you can taste the love they put into the food. Surprisingly vegan knowledgeable with many options.
Incredibly amazing food and the asian owners are very very nice people
Very good stuff. Parking's tight, but never been a huge problem for me. I still remember the time they had a Facebook contest and I won a glass of Korean liqeur that the owner's daughter got on her wedding day. Wish they were open on Mondays.
Used to go there to get my home country food fix but simply their price on food is not affordable for most of people. You can drive 20 minutes down south to Allston MA and get better food for 1/3 of the price.
Great food, service a little slow
the service is a little different but the food is amazing. worth the price! i love the stone pot bibimbap, the pajun, and the sushi
First time here but wont be the last. Ordered the Beautiful Roll and it was on point. The Pork Bibimbop was some of the best. All the pickled veg was great as well. Very nice staff and the food was out quickly. The hour drive was worth it.
Dinner and a show! 10/10
Cozy, authentic food, it's like your being invited into their kitchen.
Fantastic food, fantastic owners and staff
Small family run business, all good and food homemade on premises.
Delicious food, welcoming atmosphere.
Excellent authentic Korean food. It is pricey, though.
Super friendly staff. Love bringing my family there. Bibimbop and kimchi are great
Seriously the best Korean restaurant I have ever been to in New Hampshire. And trust me, I am very picky when it comes to Korea food authenticity. Their homemade kimchi is to die for. Really hits the spot if you're craving authentic Korean food. Move to NH from Washington and I thought I'd never find anything as authentic. But darn it, this place was AMAZING. Staff was so friendly and extremely welcoming.
This is the place to get kimchi! It's all home made and very authentic. Their fatty salmon nigiri was the best I've had, though they were pretty messy with their presentation.
Homemade touch! We loved the service, friendliness and authentic touch of this place. Thank you!
Very good food , good service.
Great food. Unfortunately like most Asian restaurant in New England, very-over-priced.
Service was outstanding! Food was worth every dollar, tons of flavor, awesome mai tai's too!
Great food , great atmosphere ,great family.......
Wonderful food... authentic... dynamite sushi..and great drinks ❤️
Absolutely amazing! The food, the drinks, the service...all great. Very quaint and unique! So good! A little pricey but you definitely get what you pay for and more!
The food - fresh, flavorful, amazing. The service was super friendly and engaging. It's a family atmosphere that makes all the guests feel like they belong. I look forward to going again.
Food quality: I ordered the kimchee bibimbap and it was pretty good, I have no complaints about the quality of my dish and the side dishes. However, my partner ordered the fried rice with beef, and he said that the dish was bland and was something anyone could cook at home easily. This would have been fine if it were not for the price of the entrees. Price: The prices are way too high! My partner and I have been to quite a few Korean restaurants (mainly in Toronto and Ottawa) and we were very shocked by Shira Kiku's prices. I paid $17.00 for my kimchee bibimbap, my partner paid about $17.00 for his very basic fried rice dish. Overall, the wait staff was perfectly kind and respectful, the food was alright but not wonderful, and the prices were way too high. With this in mind, I would NOT recommend this place to anyone, the trip was not worth the price.
Food is average, and over priced.
Very nice people, very good food!
Five of us arrived at the restaurant. The young male server saw us and ask how many. He then walked into the restaurant sitting area and left us standing at the door. We hear him talking and laughing in the seating area. 5 minutes later he came back out and walk pass us and into the kitchen. Another 5-10 minutes went by and we were still not seated or acknowledge. We got fed up and left to go to a different restaurant that value their customers.
Good food, quite salty on the 2 dishes we got.
Fantastic Korean dishes and sushi. We've eaten at Shira Kiku dozens of times and it's never been anything short of excellent. My favorites are the stonepot bibimbop and the spicy pad thai. And all the sides they bring you are great too. I can't recommend it enough.
Always great!!
Amazing food and fun staff. Kind of a hidden gem. Nashua isn't exactly a foodie paradise, but every now and again you find a place like this. Very popular for dinner and seating is limited so show up early.
One of the tastiest korean/JP place I have been. Korean beef soup was very yummy, too.
I Called for delivery and the lady on the phone was so patient and helpful. She let me know the charges and the payment and made sure I was satisfied with the order and the price. It is my first time trying there food and it was beyond amazing and tasty. Never wrote a review on a place before, but I had to for them. CALL AND ORDER YOU WON'T REGRET IT. Can I give this place more stars.
My new favorite restaurant in all of New Hampshire. I would give it 10 stars if I could. The food was perfect. To start, Nia (who's such a character she deserves her own tv special) gave us a sampling of delicious Korean appetizers on the house. Then she brought an incredibly flavorful soup followed by extremely fresh and tasty sushi, and it was all made better by the welcoming atmosphere and excellent service. Thank you Nia, we'll be back very very soon!
Upon arriving, there was a wait- but the waitress was quick to offer me a drink while I waited- they took our order as were waiting before we sat down, to ensure we would not be waiting too long for our food. The waitress was a bit sarcastic, yet very humorous. I had the stone pot Bibimbap with chicken. It was the best dish that I've had at a restaurant in a long time. The prices here are a bit high. Ex: an avocado eel roll was $17! Additionally, The Mai tai's were on point! I can't wait to go back to try more deliciousness!
Went there for dinner tonight on the recommendation of a friend. My wife and I both ordered Korean entrees - there are a ton of decent sushi places, but Korean is hard to find in NH. My wife had Japchae with beef, which she was very pleased with. I sampled and found it flavorful but not at all spicy. I'm not a huge fan of glass noodles, but she loved them. I had the Tang Su Yuk with pork. It was a bit spicier than I've had elsewhere, on the border between mild and medium, and very good. Service was good, and our waiter was careful to let the kitchen know that I had a peanut allergy, so they could take extra care to prevent cross contamination. My wife also raved about the homemade Kimchee. I can't stand the stuff, so I'll take her word for it. We'll definitely go back.
A truly wonderful dining experience is to be had at Shira Kiku! Ever since Goffstown lost their Korean restaurant, I have been wanting authentic Korean dishes for quite a while. I had no idea Shira Kiku was so close to where I work in Nashua. My childhood favorite dish of Jam-Bong (pronounced Chyam-Bahng) was hard to find - but Skira Kiku made it exactly the way I remembered! I tried their sushi... you need to try the Firecracker... soft, sweet, savory, crunchy - a DEFINITE palate-teaser! You are greeted by very a warm and friendly family who make you feel like you are in their home.... I am definitely going to be going back again.
Either get there early or make a reservation, it's a small space that fills up quickly. Excellent service, boozy mai tais, food is very good albeit slightly high prices.
The kimchi pancake is heavenly!! We get it every time we go. The restaurant is on the pricier side but the food is delicious and the family that owns it is very pleasant. (I've never tried the sushi here, so my review is based on the Korean parts of the menu)
this was well worth the drive. me and my family were very happy with the service and the food. the place was very clean and well kept also. for the food, i liked the dukbokki and the bibimbap the best. the desserts were very well decorated as well. the waitress was very nice and very attentive. she even took our picture! over all, i would give this place a 10/10 for both the service and the food. i'll definitely be coming back!
Very very very expensive place within 15 miles of Nashua for sushi and not much of a difference in quality verse's price. Don't come here for sushi. Never gonna come here again. Should at least have soup go along with a 10 piece sushi, but they don't. Really wish I went to that sushi place on Amherst st. In Nashua for sushi. Much more resonareas
A lot of food. Nice family run place. Good kimchi.
The food was amazing!
Stopped in because Korean food sounded interested and I saw their sign. Their Korean dishes are amazing, their sushi is the freshest I've had, their prices are reasonable, and their service is good. Their spicy dishes are spicy and their other flavorful dishes are just bursting with flavor. The sushi, let me tell you about the sushi. It's fresh- very fresh...as in the freshest sushi I've ever had. They don't have 50 thousand different rolls to pick from- but they have the staples and then some and they are all very well done. The restaurant is run/staffed by a family who is very helpful/kind. As a loaner in their for lunch for the first time- they made suggestions/guided me to an excellent meal; and when I went back with family, then friends- it was the same. A truly great restaurant in Nashua. It doesn't have the fancy decor, lighting, or furniture; but its clean and well organized. You have to try it.
Great food and great staff. Authentic Korean food.
Food is good. However, the restaurant is small and expensive
Great food.. nice people. .. will be going back soon and telling people how great it is
Very good Korean food!! Hit it at opening time, staff ready, service great. Moderately priced.
Best service around! Unique dishes you can't get anywhere else!
Great food. The waitress had great personality. Worth a try small and sometimes odd hours but so worth it.
Love the food, excellent service and great people! Definitely 5 star!!
Friendly service, tasty Asian food; will be back
Delicious bibimba!
Traditional Korean Fare at it's best.
Best place in southern nh for fusion Korean/ Japanese cuisine. Get yourself in here and get some hot pot now.
We love this restaurant. Great sushi today. Great bi bim bap. Always friendly, and we will always highly recommend this restaurant.
Best Asian cuisine in Nashua.
These guys appear to love their job, you can sense the authenticity and taste it as well. Excellent!
I was excited to find a Korean restaurant near me in New Hampshire. Food is fresh, authentic, and delicious. Will definetly go back many times.
One word.... Amaaaazing! From the side dishes to the entree! Went there with my family, and everyone was satisfied. We will be back soon!
The BEST bugolgi and kimchee in the area by far! And top rated sushi to boot!
The best Korean food! Great when you can share multiple dishes with a group.
Amazing service, amazing employees, amazing food! I definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Asian cuisine.
Good food as long as you keep to off beat Asian foods. Foods common to the America pallet like bulgogi aren't the best. However, lesser known dishes to Americans are awesome.
Yum!
Awesome and friendly as usual.
I was at Barnes and Noble with a friend and we got hungry so we googled the closest Korean food near us and just happened to come by Shira Kiku. So happy to have tried this place. The food was very yummy and the waitress was very polite. It was a very nice and new experience from the usual routine.
Great Korean food and sushi here and always great service.
Sat at the bar with friends and the sushi chef catered to everything we wanted and needed.
It is the best restaurant I have ever been to among the American located Korean food serviced restaurants. He is very kind and gentle. His wife is an excellent chef for all kind of Korean foods she does use the original Korean process as she must be learned in South Korea. I and my companies have really enjoyed her cuisine so much. I will come back to this restaurant when ever I visit my business principal around this area. I have registered the location at google map in my smart phone.
1)Food was horrible. 2) I call to speak to a manager to give them just a feedback but the person who pick up the phone told the manager wasn't there and hang up the phone at me, call back again and did the same thing. 3)I love Asian food but this wasn't a good experience. 4)Never again for this place.
Great food! Small restaurant, but worth the wait if its busy! 4 stars only because it might be helpful and more efficient to have more than 1 waiter working and someone to help in the front of the house. Food absolutely delicious!
This place is fantastic! Excellent food, super friendly staff, nice cozy location... We'll definitely be back!
Delicious Korean food. Generous proportions. Staff is fun and funny. It's casual while still being beautiful. Nice balance.
Great Sushi. Firecracker Maki was delish The little waitress cracks you up. Great service from all.
One of the worst meals I have ever had. I feel nauseous just thinking about it. I had sushi (made with barely a shred of salmon and with grossly sweet rice). My boyfriend had bibimbap and it involved a raw egg and daikon that tasted like rotting feet. So so bad. Do not go.
No waiting staff, charge extra for refill side dishes, the waitress clean up the table before we finished the food, very rude!
The outside of the restaurant looks unassuming but there is quite a homey feel once inside - no loud music, background tv playing sports, or other distractions so it was much easier to hold a conversation. We ordered bibimbop (pork, beef), kalbi tang, and bulgogi, which all came out quickly and tasted very much like authentic korean cuisine. The price is a little higher than what you would expect. Despite this, I would still definitely recommend this restaurant for those who are looking to try korean food, or want a bit of a different restaurant experience.
Came here within working hour, but was closed
Very entertaining plus great food. Nice family.
Great authentic food. Jeanie is great!
Sam is the man!
