REVIEWS OF New Pine Garden IN New Hampshire

Mr Harvey

We started coming here once a month after moving to the Seacoast. Hands down, the best Chinese food that you’ll find locally. The owner, Johnny, is wicked personable and very thankful for your patronage. His staff, ensures that everything comes out perfect and run smooth. We’ve never had to wait too long for a table, and takeout is always an option. Try their traditional menu some time — sushi as well makes a great lunch.

Thank you to The wonderful staff at New Pine Garden for providing such a welcoming atmosphere for our son and his fiancee's Wedding Rehearsal Dinner. The service and food was excellent and our guests were very pleased as well. Next time we visit New Hampshire again we will definitely be coming back to dine with you again. Kind regards, Sharon Allen

I had what is probably the most disappointing Chinese food lunch ever. It was an ordinary appetizer combo with vegetable lo mein, not a complicated order. The chicken wings; one would expect some Chinese seasoning and fried till crispy, it was BATTERED and no seasoning, totally not what is the norm. The other apps were okay (boneless ribs and crab rangoon). The vegetable lo mein seemed like it was nothing more than regular spaghetti with a bottle of soy sauce dumped on it, and instead of a nice amount of bright crisp veggies, it looked like a few dull, gray, limp vegetable scraps. I was so disappointed in my meal, I felt like asking for a refund, but I’m never going back, so I guess that’s not gonna happen.

Chicken Lo Mein was good. Egg drop soup, Fried rice was ok. Never had to wait too long, may be because I have been there during late nights only.

it was ok, the wait for the food was pretty long and the ingredients didn't seem that fresh.

Staff is super nice and welcoming, but the food was not very good. Hard egg rolls that seem to have come from a freezer section somewhere and doughy, bland chicken in the sweet and sour chicken dinner left me and hubby disappointed. Fried rice was, however, very good.

Tasty Szechuan Chinese food. Always worth the trip from central NH.

Chinese American restaurant located over the border of Exeter in Stratham in a small mall area. The owner is Johnny and runs the restaurant with his wife, both of whom are very nice. It was their first anniversary as they bought out the place from the previous owner and refurbished the place and updated the menu . The menu is geared for locals but if you want some 'authentic' dishes, you'll have to tell management at least 3 days in advance so they can order then prepare the dishes for you. A Chinese menu is available but it's really no different than the English menu since the selection of items are still limited, primarily since there's a small Asian population in the surrounding area. Almost every Chinese American restaurant in the NH area has a Japanese sushi section for whatever reason. The sushi dishes are delicious and prices are comparable and relatively reasonable to a Japanese restaurant. The portion sizes are good, dishes can be accommodated as in 'less salt, less soy sauce, no msg' but Tell the waiters! Sometimes the owner makes up some new dishes and have it available for customers to try since he needs to test the food and the customers' reception. Don't expect 'authentic' Chinese food in NH! There's not enough Asians in NH to warrant that much less in the Stratham/Exeter area. The food is good and reasonably priced and it does carry the typical Chinese American fare that many Americans eat. Try the tempura plates as it's delicious :)

The New Pine Garden is always a pleasure to visit. Food is always fresh and attractive, as well as priced Right. The wait staff remember customers orders and likes and are attentive and fast. We were glad to see Johnny and Betty return to Exeter!

This place is the best. The service is always fantastic and the food is second to none! My girlfriend and I don't bother going anywhere else for Asian cuisine because we're only going to be disappointed.

Super! small but pleasant.

My boyfriend and I are regulars here. We come at least once or twice a week and have never had a bad meal. Everything here is fantastic, but I especially recommend the traditional Chinese menu, where you can find items not common at a lot of other Chinese restaurants. The service is phenomenal; we are treated like family since we come so often, and our orders and preferences are always remembered - sometimes Sarah knows what we want before we even do! The restaurant is clean and open, and never so crowded that it slows down service. There are many Asian restaurants in the area to choose from but we always end up at Pine Garden because we love the food and our friends Debbie, Sarah, and Vicki.

Great place!! I love their Crab Rangoon! But the location's kind of odd. I mean, its practicly smooshed by that Mexaican restraunt. And its a bit of a drive, But the food DEFEINETLY is worth it! :)

Megan Redlon

New owners apparently. They do not use new england style duck sauce aka made with apples, they use apricot based duck sauce like they do in other parts of the US and it's too sweet. Also, do not expect veggies in the veggie spring rolls, it was just fried mush.

This used to be the best Chinese food restaurant in the area. Since being sold and re-launched as *New* Pine Garden the quality has significantly decreased. The fried rice is mushy, the vegetables are more squishy and soggy, and the meats are often tougher. On the plus side, the menu options are more extensive now. Verdict: This place is just average, at best, now.

If I could give it less stars I would this use to be my favorite restaurant use to get garlic broccoli and hot and sour soup last time I got it was the worst lunch I have ever had I couldn’t even eat soup smelled like raw sewerage and garlic broccoli was cold the person I brought agreed he also said he had stomach issues the rest of day stay away total garbage gross new owners New gross taste

Paul Langer

Best Egg Drop soup ever. Had tofu and fresh tomato pieces (surprisingly good). Beef Lo Mein had sliced steak instead of the usual shredded beef.

Travis Mendola

This place is a little gem. They have good sushi, the waitstaff is pleasant and always around if you need something, and the pricing is actually reasonable.

Amory Kezar

Good lunch specials. And dinner.

Hands down the best Chinese food I've ever had!

Yasin He

Really good food. Not that long of a wait. Highly recommended.

Ordered takeout: spring roll, seaweed salad, ma po tofu, moo shu vegetable. the items in the bag were as ordered. Pickup service was good, and quick, even with the front desk being busy. Although I was ravenous, I found the food very disappointing. Moo shu was the best dish that we had: veggies were cooked well, but not a lot of color (carrot, peppers) mostly cabbage, and the flavor was bland; the pancakes were ok, but stuck together and tore, which was messy to eat. Ma po tofu: flavor was somewhat unpleasant, but bland enough to cover with hoisin sauce. Seaweed salad was less crunchy than I am used to, and lacking in flavor. It probably didn’t help that we ate at a great restaurant in Boston’s Chinatown last night; by comparison, NPG was a major letdown. Stars are for good customer service and presentation of food; the food itself was meh at best.

This is not a strong area to live in for Chinese food, but this is the best of all of them. People seem to love Szechuan Taste the most, and we'll they're wrong. This place is consistent and friendly and tastier than the surrounding Chinese spots

Sam VanKirk

Exceptional food and service as always!!!

Myrna Christensen

pick up a quick supper. very good

Doug Vaughan

People are nice, the food is odd. Even the duck sauce has a sour to it. The batter for things like chicken fingers is also not palatable. I was asked if I was not hungry because I didn't eat much.

The folks who think the food is great must not get out much. The food is mediocre at best and this restaurant would not survive in San Francisco, Seattle or any major city
