Hiya, I had a beautiful dinner of steak and all the trimmings at the homestead,scallops were immaculate, I'm travelling from Australia and was blown away by the level of service and care. Food was exceptional,well presented and priced. Serves were generous and bar for a few minor details (probably cultural,like Bernaisse sauce is cream and taragon based in oz, and side of broccoli could be steamed a little more) I really couldn't fault your fine establishment. The old house is a buzz too. Keep up the good work people! Thanks.

I came in tonight at 7:30...and didn't realize I wasn't supposed to sit myself. I should have realized when the waitress met me so ANGRILY. I'm sorry I did't realize. And then I pulled out my laptop, two iphones and a ton more of electronics....I'm the CEO of a company down the road...I travel most of the time, I can't work without my computers and 3 phones..... I don't know what I did wrong (I don't say anything wrong ever) but the waitress leaving me sitting there for and PURPOSELY not waiting on me was HUMILIATING....so good job if that was your intention. Food was GREAT, the service was good, MANY options, prices are reasonable, family atmosphere. The only complaint I have, if any, is the acoustics aren't good so when its crowded its SOOOO loud it's a strain to hear conversation. Other than that, I highly recommend this place.

If you'd like to revisit Grandma's home-cooked dinners, this is the place to find them. Even the burgers are hand-shaped no pre-made patties here. Staff are delightful and give you your space but are attentive when it's needed. Dining atmosphere is rustic. Even in the mid-afternoon Saturday the parking lot was full.

Basic, old school New England family style restaurant. Nothing fancy or pretentious about it. Good sandwiches, burgers, soups etc., plus some really nice entrees. A bit dated inside, and it always seems too hot inside regardless of season. Service is always very good and helpful.

It was really warm out tonight so we sat on the patio. Very nice. We had the special lobster dumplings with chili sauce. They're a lot like crab rangoons. Yummy! My husband had the fish tacos and I had the grilled chicken arugula with lemon aioli. The tacos were good but I think we like another restaurant that we go better. But this isn't where you'd go specifically for those; was just in the mood for them. The pizza was good and I brought some home to our teen daughter and she liked it. She asked if she could take the rest for lunch.

I had the fish and chips.. Very disappointed all batter and no fish. The frozen fish Isle at Stop & Shop would have been 100% better.. I have heard good things about this restaurant , It was my first time there and I don't think I will ever go back . Service was good and friendly but the food was awful I wouldn't recommend it to anybody

This is such a nice place the inside is dining room has a beautiful big fireplace plenty of seating . On the other side is a complete bar .the food was great and the waitresses are down to earth and pleasent now the DESERT EXSTRODENERY apple crisp we had topped with the best real vanilla ice cream and not just a little scoop more like two scoops topped with whip cream with drizzle Carmel this is big enough for two to share.. the homestead is a great place to eat that well not break your wallet .

Consistently good service and delicious good food. I normally stick to club sandwiches and burgers and enjoy them from the booths around the bar. It's great to have a place like this to count on when I need a quick sit-down meal before a Rhody basketball game or another event in town.

Have to agree with the other reviews I've seen. It's a good family restaurant which to me means food that is decent enough, inexpensive, and the service is attentive and friendly. Not fine dining or pretentious but great for a random weeknight meal especially if you've got kids in tow.

We enjoyed our dinner right near the beautiful Stone fireplace in the lounge relaxing atmosphere and the food was delicious. My husband had chicken and ribs which he said was delicious. I had chicken marsala and it was tender, moist and delicious! Will be back often!

Popped in on a Friday night as a drive by. The restaurant looks like a house from the outside, but it's pretty big inside with a large bar on the left side and tables and booths on the right side. It was packed when we walked in, but we're lucky enough to get a booth immediately. They had lots of good seafood to choose from along with a variety of diners and sandwiches. The staff was super friendly and made our meal an experience. Definitely worth the visit.

So good! We found this place through Google Maps, reviews were good so we gave it a try. The food was excellent. My husband had Seafood Platter- clam stuffy (something new to us), stuffed shrimp, flounder & Bay scallops. All was very tasty. I had veal with mushroom gravy and claer clam chowder (another new to us). Everything was excellent.

Food and service were excellent. Celebrating our wedding anniversary. Only unfortunately we had a trio of elderly that had no manners about yelling , arguing and making calls about test results during our meal. At first it was cute then not so much. I know that establishments won't ask patron to quiet down but it makes for an unpleasant dinning experience for others.

One of our favorite food destinations! Nice selection on their menu and we have never had less than a terrific meal here with terrific service. Several rooms to sit in to eat and all have a nice atmosphere. Our fave is the larger room in back with the real working fireplace. They just added a new tavern area that's gorgeous!

I was a bit disappointed. I read there road sign indicating fish fry. In the past it has always been all you can eat. When I asked for an additional piece I was informed the option for all you can eat had been discontinued. So I paid $16 for a fried haddock dinner. I could have driven to 104 dinner and paid $13 for all I could eat. So I probably won't be dropping by for haddock again. Also no draft beer

Food was good but that's where the positive part ended. Atmosphere was terrible. We chose to eat in the restaurant part rather than the lounge. When we got there, there was a party of 10 or 12 people already there. There were three, maybe four kids running around the tables and fooling around. The parents did nothing to curb it. Then the kids started making paper airplanes and flying them in the restaurant by the tables. I think they were using paper placemats. When the planes landed on the floor. They would pick them up and fly them again, sometimes landing on clean tables with napkins and silverware. When I finally had seen enough. I went out and complained to the manager. I told him that if he didn't talk to them. I was going to. No one ever said anything to them. As a favor to people I was eating with, I decided to just count to ten and shut up. Now here is the worst part. These disrespectful people left about 15 or 20 minutes before we did. None of the staff came in to clean and reset the table that the dirty paper planes had landed on. I wonder, would management like to eat at that table knowing what went on before they were seated? It's hard to watch disrespectful people like that. No wonder the kids wouldn't behave with parents like that. And the restaurant should be reported to the board of health for allowing this to happen.

My husband and I went at the right time at 4:30pm. Maybe I shouldn't say the time. So people don't go at that time on Sat night. Joking. The people where very nice that work there. The food was very good. You get your own cheese an crackers. The place gets busy around 5pm. This is winter now. I bet it's really busy in the summer, with the mass people come up to N.H. we'll be back.

My partner and I went here Monday night - it was his first time going and we were both disappointed to say the very least. Our waitress was unfriendly, rushed, and didn't even introduce herself. They seemed a bit understaffed, which we would have understood had they at least addressed it instead of ignoring us or being rude. It took 45 minutes for us to even get bread or to place an order. And for the price, the food was not as spectacular as expected. I've heard so many great this place but that was certainly not the experience we had the other night.

I can honestly say that after 55 years of eating in every corner of the world that I've never had a worse meal in my life. If I could give it zero stars in post this I would. My friend and I spent about 6 hours on the road and were anxious to get here for an evening meal. I can't even describe how bad it was. The wait staff was great but that couldn't make up for what was served on my plate.

We moved up last summer and we've been here a couple times. The food and portions are good and you can have a quieter dinner in the old rooms or a more lively experience in the newly added tavern. They have some big shoes to fill compared to our last haunt but so far they have done okay.

Not everyplace can do this but the homestead has done it 100% of the times I have been there. There is one very close to my summer camp so I have been here many times and the severs are always polite, friendly, and very attentive. They have amazing deserts and all though I do not eat seafood my family loves it here. Freshly remodeled they have a very large brand new bar area that you can eat at. They also have multiple dining rooms in this transformed Farm house as well as outdoor patio areas where food is also served.

Great ambiance. Sat by a warm log fire. Service was great. Drinks were fabulous. Steak tips and mashed potatoes were fresh and prepared as asked. Seasoned well. Next time I return I plan to have a steak and appetizers. Looked great from neighbor's table.

If I could give six stars I would. Everything from the maple syrup drizzled bacon-wrapped scallops to the generous prime rib to the hybrid ambience both quaint and chic. Our waiter Sean was most genial and competent above his years. The crème brûlée was the perfect bookend. We will be back next year on our annual visit North of the Mason-Dixon to the Lake’s Region!

First impression was nice appearance. However, we were seated in the restaurant area at 5:00 pm on a Monday evening. Nobody ever came to our table to even offer water, althouth there were 5 other occupied tables being served. Finally after we realized it had been 40 minutes since we were seated I went to look for the manager. I walked up to 3 of the wait staff who were just standing there chatting and asked if there was a manager I could speak to. They told me she was speaking with another customer and asked If they could help me. I explained that we had been sitting there for over 1/2 an hour and nobody had ever offered us water. One immediately went looking for our waitress and the other went yo get the manager. Since I already had a headache from not eating we decided not to stay.

The salad was very fresh. The potatoe was great and the filet mignon was incredible. The prime rib was a nice cut and tasty. Try the scallops and bacon. It's worth the trip from laconia. Waited 10 minutes. Very well worth the the trip. Will be back again my next trip.

So disappointed. Our "seafood" chowder was lukewarm clam chowder. It did taste good ...the bread arrived after our reheated chowder was long gone. Our server had clearly not received much training and was very awkward- not fair to him or to customers.

Nice cozy atmosphere and great food. I had the maple marinated pork chops and they were the best pork chops I’ve ever had. Very flavorful and tender. I don’t usually order chops because they could be dry but these were exceptional. They give you soup or salad, warm rolls ands fresh vegetables. Enjoyed a very nice dinner on a beautiful, late September day , on the new outside patio, at the Homestead Restaurant in Bristol, NH. Our hostess, Anita, was warm and friendly. Our server, Mellisa, was attentive and very thorough. Excellent appetizers, drinks, and a great meal, made for an excellent day . Make sure to visit the newly renovated Tavern, with fireplace, warm wood interior, very cozy and inviting. A job well done.

Disappointing this time. We've dined here many times which is why the 3 stars. If we rated it on this last trip only it would have been 2 stars at best. They are going through an expansion and update. The Seafood Paella was very heavy and starchy. Staff was very good. They had a fried clam appetizer. When I asked the server if it was breaded or battered he very uncertainly responded "battered ". He came back a few minutes after we placed our order for some and fessed up that he asked the chef and was told that it was not battered. We kept the order in place and they were delicious.

Delicious home style food with great flavors and ample portions. The old farmhouse is a charming setting for dinner while the new tavern is bright and spacious. Service was very friendly and helpful and was happy to look into options for dietary restrictions. Pricing is reasonable given the quality and portions. This is a slower paced dinner but a great place for dates or for family dinners.
