This is a must go to place in Manchester, NH. The bar menu is the best in the country and I am not exaggerating. Primo...down to the hand stuffed blue cheese olives, the bacon and spinach stuffed baked oysters 3 for $5.00 or the 6 oz filet mignon with sour cream mashed potatoes for $15.00. At the bar only and valet parking of course. Bon appetit...

One of my favorite resaturantrs. The service, the food and the wine is the best. My family and I were there this past Easter and had a wonderful dinning experience. Love this restaurant. It is one of my top three. Easter dinner for me was the Surf and Turf. The Filet Mignon was cook perfrectly, the lobster tail was like butter coupled with an enjoyable Cabernet and you have the receipe for the perfect meal. My friend and daughter both enjoyed the Sea Bass. The restaurant is very accomodating and will adjust meals to meet dietary restrcitions. Hanover Street Chophouse is one of the premier restairants in Hew Hampshire. Always look foward to retuning.

The Most Expensive Meal I've Ever Hated Ever since moving to Manchester last spring we have been told to try this place, and knew it would be a fancy date night. Walked in at 5:01pm on a Friday and was told there would be no tables for two until 7:30pm. We waited for a seat to open at the (reserved) bar, and split their nightly special- 16 oz Wagu NY Strip for $75. We ordered it medium well. It came out rare, like not even really warm in the middle type rare. And when we asked for it to be cooked further, we got some attitude from the bartender. The steak was re-fired and came back charred and very well done. The vegetable medley that came with the steak was mostly raw carrots and under cooked green beans + onions in a light sauce. The best thing of the night was the fruity Martini, until we ordered our second round which were so strong (and not at all fruity) we couldn't even sip them like the first . Overall very over -rated, expensive and inconsistent quality. Won't be back, feel bad for those who spend all their money here regularly 'cause they're bound to be massively disappointed eventually

Went there for my 22nd Birthday. The waitress was very well versed in the food being served, which being a cook was much appreciated and a refreshing change. We arrived a half an hour early and planed on waiting at the bar but they were able to seat us early. The food was excellent. I had the Sunday grand prix and my Husband had a 16oz steak with a lobster tail. The steak was a perfect medium rare. The only down side in my eyes is something they have No control over is the neighborhood it is in.

My wife and I love restaurants. From the corner bistro to the 5 star upscale. We chose the Hanover Street Chophouse for our friday dinner and, while the staff was nice, the piano was great and the wine list was impressive, the restaurant was not. The presentation and the food itself was chain quality and not at all impressive. You may consider a night out at one of those places you see on television ads narrated by a guy with an Australian accent. The valet was nice and expected but once we walked into the front door, we immediately got the family diner feel. That is the best way to describe this place. A family diner trying to present itself as upscale, that forgot the elegance, and which has absolutely mediocre food.

From the point of entry, it was smashing! The hostesses were charming. Our waiter, Basil, was so attentive and the perfect pairing to our fabulous meal. We had the salmon and an 8 oz filet dinners. Both were perfect. The pastry selection needs a bit of work as our carrot cake was way dry. The wine selection fantastic and my pear martini was great. We will be back.

We've had several incredible dinners here. The filet is always a favorite! Our service is fantastic, Catherine and Nikia are excellent btw! Classy, cozy, with a darker dinning room associated with high-end dinning. Gluten-free bread is some of the best we've ever had! Dinner jackets and an occasional piano player make this place a nice upscale place. Great wines too. The bar is a little more relaxed and you can eat there too. Open kitchen area, clean, and welcoming atmosphere. Enjoy a delicious steak or seafood entree here, you won't be disappointed.

We ate here a few weeks ago for a family members birthday. One of my favorite things about this spot is the valet! (Pulling up literally 10’ from the entrance just makes things so much easier) We had a little bit of everything from the menu, seafood, sides, salads and of course steaks. I got the bone in ribeye med rare and it was to my liking. Everything was great and the service from Our server Marin made the food and overall experience that much better. I don’t eat steak often but when I am looking for it I will certainly consider HSC.

1st time great second time poor. We reserved a table at 7:30. It was made most clear by wait staff/chefs they wanted to go home. (Didn't take coats, Didn't keep refilling glasses near the end of the meal, cold vegetables, didn't cook steak properly. No big deal if you are going to Applebee's but the best restaurant in Manchester????) So I recommend coming early otherwise you might be disappointed. My table still tipped as if it was a michelin meal but felt no satisfaction. Sad, because often times it is the best restaurant in Manchester but not tonight.

As far as real steakhouses go, this is it for NH. The staff are amazing, the food is incredible, and the bar is phenomenal. What more could you want? A slightly bigger place. With valet parking, it solves some of the problem. It’s great, everyone knows it, everyone eats there, ergo it’s busy. Worth the wait!!!!!!!

Waited for our table at the bar. Had an old fashioned with Blanton's burbon and Luxardo cherries. Superb. Just the fact that the bar had these two says something about the level of quality. Bone in dry aged rib eye confirmes their reputation as a quality steak house. If you're looking for a great dining experience this is a good bet. A bit pricey but worth the quality

My husband and I went there to celebrate pur anniversary. All the foods exceeded our expectation. We had crab and scallop cakes and carpaccio to start. Both were amazing! We shared delmonico as entree and it was definitely the best steak we've ever had! We also had lobster mac and cheese as extra side. The portion was way bigger than we thought and of course, delicious. We had their seasonal pumpkin torte as dessert. I don't like pumpkin, but that was one of the best torte I've had. We both had such an amazing experience! The server and hosts were very friendly. We definitely recommend Hanover Street Chophouse!

Casual but stylish appearance and atmosphere. Food was delicious, well cooked and made. They have their own baker and pastry chef. Live piano player adds to the charm. Friendly service. I had three servers to take care of me. I sat at the bar and had a relaxing time. A bit crowded but it could not be helped. I recommend reserving seats if two or more, especially if it's the weekend. Valee parking available, but, parking on the street is free on weekends. I had the Hangar steak ,marinated steak with creamed spinach and grilled potatoes. I wish it had more steak. For dessert I ordered carrot cake drizzled with caramel and served with nuts and vanilla bean ice-cream. Fresh baked bread was served before the meal. Three different types of bread were served. The entrance staff should take your name if you are waiting for a seat at the bar. I still recommend a visit. I didn't have to wait long for a seat at the bar though the bartenders were very busy.

We took a client to Hanover Street Chophouse, and she loved it. Each of us chose a different wine by the glass, and all were excellent. I started with a rutabaga soup -- something I had never tried, but certainly found soothing and tasty. My colleague had French onion soup and found it delicious on a cold, rainy night. Our guest and I both had one of the evening specials, a cod that was grilled. It was perfectly prepared and oh-so-delicious! The fish was accompanied by some potatoes and a few vegetables that were all very tasty. My colleague had crab cakes and found them good. We were too full for more. We were a table of three women and were treated well.

The food was pricey but worth every penny! I had the sea bass over risotto and the fish melted in my mouth. Exquisite. The decor is what you'd expect from an up-and-coming scale steal house: dark wood and white table cloths, but the staff was friendly and helpful while allowing us our space. Valet parking took off the burden of where to park on the popular streets, and the young gentlemen were polite. I can hardly wait to go back.

I have been here twice. This is definitely a place you will want to dress up for - most diners were in suits or jackets for lunch. The bar is a bit more casual, but not a lot. The place sort of has a private club feel to it. I got the impression that a lot of the local financial services sector eats here regularly. That said, the lunch menu was reasonably priced, and the staff was very helpful, if somewhat "stiff" in an "English butler" sort of way. Many reviewers are saying that this place serves one of the best steaks you can get, but I think that depends on the breadth of your experience. It is very good for New England, but can't shake a stick at many steakhouses in Texas or even NYC. I also had a salad with candied walnuts, which was very good. As an appetizer, I tried their thick-cut chipotle maple bacon appetizer. It was alright, but again, I have had better versions elsewhere (try the Millionaire Bacon at the Taylor St. Cafe in San Francisco if you want to see it done right). So overall, I would say that this is the best place to go locally if you are trying to impress a high-end client that is more interested in a pricey steak menu and upscale environment than really appreciating a unique culinary experience. The food is excellent and the service is impeccable. But beyond that, nothing really stands out about the experience.

Overpoweringly smoky special. Hard to taste what I ordered - meat and potatoes - through the smoke! Also, cubed potatoes were still hard in the middle. Drinks looked very strong- probably best bargain here. Atmosphere - dark. Bread - classic American style, bread not warmed, best were the crispy wafers. Menu overload. 3 menus - food wine beer. Very complex with many options - didn't bother reading them. Staff - very attentive. Valet left his post, though - with the key box open - outside as I walked in. Ingredients were of good quality and vegetables were fresh.

The four stars are for the quality of food served. I'd probably only give 2.0 stars for customer service. I went in without reservations as it was a spur of the moment decision to go there. The hostess made a frowning face as if it was such a chore to find seating. Not everyone makes reservations and no one should be treated less because of it. Anyone's money is green just like the next. We sat at the bar. The bartenders were pleasant but one seemed annoyed customers showed up as several others were leaving. I will say the rack of lamb was delicious! It has a little more fat than I prefer but it was hearty and sides that came with it left me feeling satisfied. I applaud the Chop House for holding dining to a higher standard in Manchester but don't act snobby about it. You're in Manchester NH, not Boston.

Went here for my birthday and was very happy. Food was top notch and the server was very friendly and very pleasant. Only recommendation I would make would be to try the creme brulee and the cheesecake. Tried the dessert sampler with those as well as the boston cream cake and chocolate cake of some sort. Those were ok, but the cheesecake and the creme brulee were amazing.

This place is amazing! This is the third year my boyfriend and I have made reservations to celebrate my birthday and I swear it just keeps getting better. The filet is always perfectly cooked, this year we tried the Chicken Parmesan and that was incredible as well. The scallop and bacon appetizer was delicious, and the lemon cheesecake desert was even better than I expected. This is a birthday tradition now and I look forward to coming back every year.

Great food at a premium price. I had the chicken parm - enormous service and delicious. My young son had bacon mac and cheese - three adults at the table and all agreed it was some of the best mac and cheese they'd had (unfortunately too rich for a 4 yo palatte - where knowing your audience is key, but the adults liked the leftovers). I took off a star because after a lengthy conversation of how to order the cook in his steak that he wanted (final ruling: rare plus), it came out medium/medium plus. They took it back, the manager (?) came over to apologise, but it took quite awhile to get his new steak out, so his milestone birthday celebration had him watching us eat. Though not necessary, I was surprised nothing was adjusted on the bill. Moving onto dessert, everything was too notch as well. Valet parking was also provided and our server was very nice.

They added a waygu rib cap steak to the menu and it is the best steak I have had in the state. Perfectly cooked, eat bite was meant to be savored. I passed on the sauce that came with it and added truffle butter. Exquisite. And if you are a lamb fan, though the size changes depending on where it is sourced, it is always sublime.

I live in Manchester and it is significantly more convenient to come here instead of Ruth's Chris or Abe and louie's in boston. The food always seemed a step below, but close enough, to the experiences of the high end steak houses in boston. Tonight me and my wife went for our first wedding anniversary. We started with a ceasar salad for her and the carpaccio for me. The flavor of the carpaccio was fantastic but the portion was very small. The plate was smothered with arugula and about 4 or 5 bites of carpaccio. This is acceptable but a bit disappointing. Our meals come and I had ordered a new York strip steak. It came heavily over seasoned where the strongest taste and only after taste was pepper (which was also offered at the table and I declined). They made a second steak that was unseasoned which arrived as my wife was finishing her meal. It is usually customary for the manager or server to remain present for the first cut into a second steak to ensure it is properly cooked, they did not stay. I love a rare steak, and I'll admit though it was over seasoned the first steak was cooked skillfully and a perfect rare. This second one was entirely raw in the center. Very mushy and unpleasant, the marbling was visibly still formed, not edible. At this point the server offered a 3rd steak. I declined. After seeing I was upset she refrained from communicating with me and only spoke directly to my wife until we left. The manager did not return to follow up with us. They did not pull up our valleted car as the servers do with each table prior to our leaving. We still had a bill which we paid. My steak was removed but our bill was still 100.00 and that is with no alcohol. I'm frustrated and upset that a place me and my family frequent and trust with important moments did not handle this situation with the professionalism I would expect from a fine dining experience. I did not get to eat dinner with my wife on our first anniversary, and it cost me 100 dollars. We will not be back. I would also like to note that I have never made a google review before. I was so frustrated tonight that I felt the need to make an account and do so.

We go here once or twice a year for special occasions and they always deliver. The food is excellent. While the prices seem high the quality is well worth it and by comparison to other places the prices are reasonable for a high end steakhouse. The service is attentive to your needs. Can't wait till my next visit.

This place was smaller than we anticipated so our group had to split but it was fine. The food was great. I had the open faced turkey and made everyone in our group try it...excellent!!! My daughter had the mini waffles with strawberries and whipped cream, also delicious! Huge portions! The poutine was a great starter. We loved being recognized...

My husband made a 7.45 dinner reservation for my birthday. We arrived a little before and didn't get seated until a little after 8. We ordered a bottle of wine but no starters. Ordered our food around 8.30 and did not get it until 9.15. When we questioned about what took so long our waiter said that people usually get starters and we didn't so that's why it felt so long. She also said that bc my husband got a special that added on time. There was no sorry that it took so long or the kitchen was slammed. It was somehow our fault that the food took so long. Then we spoke to the manager barely acknowledged us and he gave us $45 in tokens. No, apology no taking ownership. The food definitely isn't worth the price and we won't be going back. Save your money.

The blond waiter at the bar completely dismissed our company and much more preferred to joke around and service old men in suits sitting next to us. We were four people , overdressed, ordered nice meal, yet she didn’t care to even talk to us or come back and ask if anything is okay. That’s the first time we’ve ever experienced that while traveling for business. Food was alright, but not fantastic, steaks were not impressive. In general, we enjoyed the atmosphere and music, but the service itself and food were not up to scratch.

My experience there was superb! The weight staff was so professional and nice in every aspect of the evening. I also have an allergy, and they went above and beyond switching some ingredients around if needed, answering any of my questions I had and didn't make me feel like a nuisance (which most restaurants do because of this). The ambiance was very romantic (as this was an early valentines day dinner for my fiance and I), and the food was top notch. By far one of the best places I've been to all around. You get what you are paying for!!

Everything was pretty much amazing and as advertised and imagined from a place so renowned. I have two legitimate complaints however; first, my fried avocado side was so badly overcooked that it was barely recognizable, texturally, so avocado at all. Completely gone was the soft creamy avocado meat. And second, when food was taken by the server to pack in a take home bag, she took it upon herself to leave my potato side out the box. I may go back again, but this was disappointing. I'd feel remiss if I didn't close by saying that the swordfish entree I had was the BEST piece of fish i have had in many, many years, and I was born and raised on the seacoast. It was cooked to absolute perfection!!!
