Took my elderly parents for a nice meal while on our vacation to what we thought was a very nice restaurant. As soon as we went to be seated my father asked if we could sit by the window as there were 4-5 empty tables and the hostess said no those tables are for reservations. Only one table was occupied during the 2 hours we were there. The wrong dinner entree for one of us came and had to be returned & by the time it was corrected the two others had completed their meals. No complimentary coffee's or drinks were mentioned even though we were not able to have our meals together at the same time. Manager and server apologized and were nice but, we really should have been comped for something as from the time we were seated until the time we left it wasn't a very good experience. Food was okay, but not as good as we were expecting ( way too much peppercorn!!) . Was too bad as this was our vacation and we were excited for a night out to a nice restaurant for a pleasant meal.

Was looking forward to a lovely meal here. The boat house atmosphere looked intriguing.The caesar salad was very good with garlicky croutons. I ordered the fried chicken and waffles for my entree. When it came out I was surprised that the single piece of fried chicken ( $20.00) was literally the size of a flat deck of cards. When I cut into it , the chicken had apparently “flown the coop”. There was maybe 2 oz of chicken and a whole lot of fried batter. I complained to our waitress who said she would tell “them”. No one approached us and 15 minutes later we were handed the check. I mentioned our disappointment on the way out and one of the hosts apologized and took it off our check. I hope in the future the management trains it waitstaff to inform management if a costumer is dissatisfied with their meal.

This place was amazing. Great place to bring the family or for a romantic dinner. The mac and cheese is the best in NH. Large drink and wine list for any occasion. Parking can be limited in the lot but the resturant offers a shuttle service.

We went here for our anniversary and were seated in the Tavern, which was our choice. The tavern was nice and not very busy, making us one of only three parties to be there. Food was good, however overpriced. We found our waitress, Emily, to be less than courteous. A party of two was seated 10-15 minutes after us, but received their meal well before us. We also noted that when some regulars and all male parties came in they were treated by the same waitress with much more enthusiasm. Emily never asked us how we were or how we liked our meal and very rarely made eye contact. She never returned to our table after we received our meal and only returned when it was time for the check. It would have been nice to receive the same treatment as the regulars or all male parties did. We were very polite with her and not demanding, yet we were treated like she had somewhere better to be. Another reason why tipping should be based on service and not the price of the bill!

Was there too early for the dinner menu (bad planning on my part and I was a little disappointed but 100% my fault). The Canoe chips are a MUST TRY! I had the Lobster Mac n' Cheese and my Wife had the short rib stroganoff. BOTH were excellent. Service was great, attentive, and friendly. Overall a great experience and will be back next time we are in the area.

It started with the hostess desk .. we were promised one table, then that hostess walked away and did not communicate this to the next hostess who proceeded to give our table to someone who came in after we did .. we were offered a table downstairs .. it was so loud that not only could we not hear each other, but the waiter had a hard time hearing our order (it did not help that the table next to us was so loud given that they were competing with the music and other guests) .. Our food took exceptionally long to get to us after our appetizers .. although my three other guests were pleased with their meals (they had been there before) .. my pork tenderloin was very dry and the potatoes were cold .. I had them sent back and they returned cold .. at that point I lost my appetite and just wanted to leave .. the waiter never mentioned the mishap to a manager, and I paid for a meal I did not eat .. I will not be returning for another meal.

Very nice, relaxing, the waiter is a very nice and kind gentleman and attends to your needs. Dinner was good, I got the special for Valentine's but to be honest it wasn't something I liked alot. I loved the shrimp and their size but for the money the lobster tail with shell still on it didn't have a good piece of lobster in it, and it was hard to remove the lobster.

Our server was prompt and friendly, however the food was meh. The fish tacos lacked any flavor other than a nice fried fish flavor, the slaw and pico was bland. The chop salad was not at all colorful and the grilled chicken was quite dry. Ryan, our lovely server, did get another piece of chicken however it was just as dry as the first. I think they were probably pre-cooked then heated for the salad topper. Bottom line is the chips with blue cheese and bacon were tastey. Ryan had the salad taken off the bill, which was appreciated.

They don't take reservations after 6:30 so be prepared to wait, they have 2 bars but when we went they had the downstairs closed for a function. It was busy and they may be understaffed. That said the, service was very pleasant, although busy, and somehow we got a seat at the bar. Fried oysters and Orange chicken we're amazing. Lobster Mac n cheese (1/4 lb serving of lobster, you can choose) was pretty good as we're the steak tips (a little over seasoned for me, but still good) with fries and haricovert. I'd definitely be back to dine again.

We had just arrived in Center Harbor, New Hampshire and reviewed a number of restaurants near our resort. The Canoe Restaurant was close by and seemed to fit our needs. The staff provided a welcoming environment and ensured our dinner was enjoyable. The Canoe was recently renovated and the interiors showed a contemporary but also a cottage chic ambience. Our meals were well prepared and enjoyable. Reservations are recommended for weekend dinners. Enjoy.

I often order take out from canoe as they have good food. I often order the ahi tuna. This is the third time I have specifically asked for sauce and got none, also no wasabi and a huge pile of pink. Not to mention there were FOUR pieces. In a small order? That's ridiculous. I even had the waitress read the order back to me. Obviously you don't care much about your take out customers since this is the third or forth issue- my husband also got a burger that wasn't cooked. Maybe look into your take out orders s little more. Thanks

Just want to say this had nothing to do with our server (John) he was great........Came in at 7 and we're told there was a possible 1 hour wait time, for a party of 4 my wife and her parents. Fine, it's summer by the lake, we get it. We eventually find some seats at the bar and order some drinks. We're told our table was ready and it was pointed out. Gave our seats up at the bar for others and went to sit at designated table. Wife was told we could not sit. I speak with girls at front and they tell me we can. Now we wait...no menus for 10 minutes, again I get it they were busy. We finally give drink orders and appetizers. Appies come out quick and they were decent. We give our dinner orders and 1 hour later food finally arrives. My steak came out right my mother in law's did not both were overly peppered and I like pepper. We decided due to the time, now 9:30pm to let it go rather then to try and get it re-made. We did mention it to the server, but at this point in time being so late what could we do (now 10). Manager never came over to apologise for the long wait time for food or the discrepancy in the quality. Maybe it was a bad night I don't know, we have been here before and it was good. But if you follow the reviews things have been lacking lately.

Orange chicken with fried rice was almost soup like. Steak tips were absurdly tough but cooked to order as requested. The turkey tips and Reuben was on the money. We did mention the steak tips to the waitress and she mentioned it to I'm assuming was a manager but they never checked back in with us to see if they could address our concerns. Great waitress but not go for managment. The table across from us ordered a salad wedge with steak tips and judging by her expression, not so good. This was ordered on 6.30.2019 at roughly 2:45 pm...there was eight of us..

First time dinner guests at Canoe this evening. The four of us were celebrating my Mother's 74th birthday. Our initial server was very inexperienced and immature, and when his deficiencies were privately brought to his attention, he chose to make a scene in the dining room, which prompted me to alert his manager. Taylor (Manager) was very sympathetic, acted like a professional manager, and made the remainder of our 1st time experience very pleasurable and valued. Thank you Taylor ! We'll be back for delicious dishes and desserts.

Have gone to Canoe for many years. If last night had been the first it certainly would’ve been the last . Waiter was terrible, food was mediocre at best. No steak knife for tips, couldn’t even cut two of them, $16 for a cosmopolitan, never got the coffee ordered twice. No olives in the martinis, of the four meals none were great.

We have a boat on Winne and had dinner here with my inlaws after a day in the sun. We were really looking forward to this meal. Sadly, it did not come close to fulfilling our expectations. Absolutely the worst crab cakes that I've ever had! Honestly, they weren't much bigger than a silver dollar and were all breading and tasteless. Huge disappointment since we really like their sister restaurant, O Steak and Seafood. Will not be returning.

Food was good but the service left much to be desired. Extremely loud inside when I went. It was almost deafening. I don't know why they have nothing to absorb the noise (carpets, drapes, windows, etc.). They let a patron have her dog hang out in the dining area even though it wasn't a medical assistance dog which was disgusting. No soap in the bathroom which makes me worry for the staff's cleanliness. To top it all off, they let just about anyone take your reservation. Ours was taken by some random drunkards who came in after we were waiting for our table.

Superb service and food, undoubtedly one of the best dining experiences in New Hampshire, Canoe sits atop lake Winnipesaukee like a crown jewel. Flavors burst though their preparations like motorcycle engines through the summer doldrums on Bike Week. The ambience is most relaxed and comfortable, soothing for a troubled soul, and is punctuated by classic, wooden canoes hanging from the ceiling. You can't go wrong ordering. Enjoy!

If you are looking for really good food, The Canoe Restaurant is the place for you. Located in New Hampshire, Canoe sits on the shores of Lake Winnipesaukee and provides diners with breathtaking views. The inside of the restaurant is reminiscent of an old boat house that you would find on any lake in New England. One can see why it is called Canoe because the rafters are full of old canoes. From the upstairs dining room you can see much of the lake which is just a short walk away. As you would expect, Canoe does seafood really well. The lobster mac and cheese is rich and creamy with fresh chunks of lobster. Also, the lobster rolls are consistently good with large chunks of fresh lobster meat. By far the favorite menu item is the Canoe Chips. Start with a plate of in-house made, thick-cut potato chips. Smother these in a mouthwatering blue cheese sauce and top it off with bacon bits and chopped scallions…heaven on a plate! The service was OK. When we walked in, they seated us right away. The waiter was very attentive. He kept our drinks filled and was helpful with menu questions. He had great recommendations like the Canoe Chips. If the memory of your meal at Canoe and the Canoe Chips aren’t enough to last a lifetime, you can pick up a Canoe T-shirt on your way out.

Sad, we have frequented this restaurant for 8 or so years and in the last 2 we have been very disappointed! There are not many "nice" restaurants in the area and the Owner has opened up a couple new "tavern" type restaurants. Seems like the attention are those other endeavors. Curry shrimp bowl for $24 was 5 medium shrimp, broth and noodles!!!! Could not taste the curry but plenty of broth and noodles and barely a taste of cilantro. Husband had pork with mash potatoes with cream spinach. He enjoyed the dish, missing enough of the pork dressing for half of his serving and sent the plate back to warm potato/spinach portion. Slivers of "bread" with oil as table greeting. Used to be bread sticks with oil. Everything has been halved and cheapened in the last 2 years. For us, over priced and slim portions, but then we are comparing it to 2 -3 years ago. Won't be going back for quite some time. Again, sad.

Limited menu but the now have a nice pub area. A bit pricey. We have not had great luck with staff in the they can be very unfriendly especially the hostesses.

My family has been celebrating Mother's Day at 'The Canoe' for the last five years and it has always been a most pleasurable experience. Food is great, waitresses always knowledgeable and efficient, and the atmosphere is so relaxing and comfortable. We will be going back again this year!
