This Restaurant is included in the category of French restaurant.
I want to start out by saying I support local businesses. Things that went wrong during my experience: 1) the stairs are dangerous and there's no ramp; 2) the restaurant was smelly; 3) after finding out that the non-alcoholic beverage list consisted of coffee, tea, sprite coke and diet coke, the waiter tells us they are out of tea. He came back to correct his statement only to reveal they were out of sprite. 4) It was very pricey! For those prices I would have expected quality ambiance like Olive Garden. The wait staff was really nice though. Suggested Improvements: remove the metal railing; have the stairs redone to include wheelchair access ramp; remove the wood fence out front; fix up the outdoor area; repave the parking lot; and have the restarurant smelling like French bread.
Despite saying 'casual" I feel something at least semi-nice should be worn when you go! The inside is small, but quaint and very lovely. Food is absolutely delicious all the times I've gone, the desserts are to DIE for! I'm not an alcohol drinker, but they seem to have quite the diverse selection, I cannot input on the quality or variety on it though. Do expect to pay a hefty sum though.
Such a nice little intimate place...Food and service have always been great.
Upscale restaurant with great staff.
The food was a tad expensive, but well worth it for special occasions! They had some of the best duck I have ever had. I felt the salmon was slightly overcooked, but I still wrote home about it! Both meals were piping hot. The atmosphere leaves a bit to be desired, but I go there for the food- not the ambiance. I will be returning! It's a great little hidden gem in Lincoln.
Great dining experience!
Authentic French food.
Wow, what a find! Did take out, which is NOT the best way to try a chef's dishes, but it was FANTASTIC! Steak au poivre was perfectly prepared and sauce was excellent! Chicken with a cream mushroom sauce was awesome, and sauce was not overpowering. Creme Brulee and crepe were a perfect ending. Now, i am ready to try the rest of the menu. Big fan!
Great French cuisine, made fresh and changed seasonally. The atmosphere is cozy and the staff warm and friendly.
It is a wonderful French Bistro. The food is always great! Quiet environment which makes dining a pleasure.
The service is wonderful and the food is fantastic. Worth every penny!
The location used to be a sports bar, and prior to that a Mexican restaurant, and it shows. They've put on a fresh coat of paint on the walls, but the carpets are worn and the ceiling has seen better days. Large multi-socket outlets unceremoniously remain where the sports bars TV's once were placed. It has been spruced up with a few French knick knacks, but it is due for a complete renovation. The croque-monsieur I had for lunch was fairly bland and felt small for the price. The plating was also unusual. They placed the sandwich in the center of the plate, surrounding it with a ring of salad, resulting in a fair amount of dressing on the bread and béchamel on the greens. The creme brulee for dessert was also under-torched, leaving a lot of raw sugar in the custard. The best part of the experience was the wait staff. The servers were attentive, friendly and helpful. But, for the price, I just expected something more from the atmosphere and food.
Good food, good service.
Love this place. Food and service outstanding.
Went for lunch after hearing many good reviews. Was skeptical at first as I have not had French cuisine. However, I was blown away from the favors. Will definitely be going back.
Cozy little restaurant food was good and plentiful.
The service is the best in Lincoln, and is nothing compared to the food. We took the advice of our server on our selections. The Best meal I have had in years.
Really very nice French country cooking. Tastes like my own cooking, frankly, so I'm inclined to go elsewhere for a night out, just for the change. My friend brought takeaway, so I can't comment on price, but she was impressed by attention to detail and how anxious the chef and his spouse were that everything be just so.
Eric & Emily are fantastic hosts. The food is amazing. Everything is so fresh and flavorful. Definitely our favorite neighborhood restaurant.
Excellent food and service. Great quality local restaurant.
We hosted my son and his fiancé’s rehearsal dinner here and we could not have been more pleased. All of the dishes were delicious and the service was top notch. It was such a special evening! Every little detail, from the personalized menu to the crème brûlée, everything was amazing. Thank you Emily and Eric for such a lovely and memorable evening.
This has become our go-to restaurant for special occasions. The food is phenomenal! My fiance proposed to me here, and we look forward to creating many more memories at The Normandy!
A quant little restaurant with great service. Not the cheapest place to take a date but the food was excellent and filling while the French inspired ambiance made for a great atmosphere.
The food is just exceptional. I’ve been here many times and eaten almost everything in the menu and I’ve never been disappointed. Seasonal selections and friendly, attentive service. I recommend going on a day of a chef’s tasting with wine flight. Or try brunch sometime - I generally get their ‘savory and sweet’ full brunch option. A filling portion of delicious food and coffee for a decent price. It’s rare to find an experience like this in Lincoln.
Best place in a hundred miles!!!
Great food and excellent service
Stopped in on a Friday without a reservation and they made room for us. Very kind wait staff and the food was wonderful.
Good food, with great service
Really disappointing. One of the worst steaks I've had in my life even before cost comes into it.
Stopped in for a nice evening. I love neighborhood restaurants as they are usually hidden jewels. The business is owned by a wife and husband duo and she was actually our hostess. Great customer service. The sauces can change day to day depending on the what they're trying out which is refreshing to hear. The couple that we went with had previously been there and had gotten the Filet Mignon but it had a Bearnaise sauce that they raved about. This time it was a wine and mushroom sauce which was still delicious. When asked about the Bearnaise sauce Renee (Co-owner and our host) offered up saying call well ahead and we'll make it for your which is a welcome surprise :). However, after finding this hidden jewel I was saddened to hear that the restaurant would be changing hands in December 2017. I hope they keep the hospitality and cuisines on par with current ownership. I'm also happy for the Lawrence and Renee for this next big step forward in their lives
Great food
Food and service was great.
Great food great staff
The food is excellent, while the service is quite personal. What they lack in ambiance they make up for in taste. This is a lovely married couple who own and run the place by themselves. I highly recommend Emily's lemon tart, it is by far one of the best things I've ever had.
Had a wonderful evening. Food was fantastic.
Their food is always good. The owners take the time to get to know you as well. You are never rushed and it always provides a great atmosphere to foster good conversation.
Service was acceptable, quality, quantity, and price of food were not. Cassoulet was lukewarm. Appetizer and soup were uninspired and bland. Kitchen staff were standing around carrying on, which detracted from the atmosphere. Very disappointing.
The Normandy is a neighborhood treasure. The food is always excellent and the people are just gems.
Delicious lunch crepe menu for a meal or dessert. Larger menu for evening meals. Very cozy atmosphere.
The staff members were great! But, unfortunately, the food was pretty disappointing. The chicken was the cheap variety, so it was rubbery. The pork belly was overcooked. The desserts were very good, however.
My meal was absolutely delicious. Great service too.
This place was fabulous! The food was amazing, service was outstanding, and we will most definitely be back! Comfort food at it's finest.
Great place for quiet date. Not cheap. Excellent soufflé.
This is an excellent place. They know food, and how to provide great service. A little pricy, but so worth it.
Great casual French Food. You won't be disappointed.
Perfect French cuisine
Exquisite food wine and Atmosphere! I loved it!!!
What an amazing brunch I had here with my dad. Outstanding. Can't wait to come back.
Where to begin. This is a very very small venue. They opened up at five and we had reservations for six, on a Saturday. By time we arrived to the restaurant three out of ten entrees were out; my wife and I went solely on the premise of rack of lamb. Point being: go early. Now that the bad is out of the way, onto the good. We ordered muscles as an appetizer and it was one of the most amazing dishes I have had made with muscles, my recommendation is to order them and dip their fresh bread into the leftover cream sauce. Total fatty move but worth every calorie. For our entrees we ordered steak and scallops. Small portions for the price, that was expected so not really an issue. Everything was seasoned perfectly. From the goat cheese named potato to the pork belly treat it was all amazing. Unfortunately my wife and I are no longer drinkers so I could not provide any information on their bar, but from past experience; they have an extensive wine list and what looks to be a great spirits selection. Over all the only disappointing part being that they ran out of the entree that my wife and I were excited about; but being a Saturday options for market are quite limited. Everything else was amazing!!!
Wonderful for date night, dinner or Sunday brunch! Locally owned and authentic French cuisine. One of our favorites.
For me The Normandy is a real treat for dining in Lincoln. I have been there 3 times this spring & summer and have tried a variety of dishes from starters to desert; they were all delicious with a detail of taste, texture and finish rare to my experience in Lincoln. The service was flawless, the wine was wonderful, and i was thrilled to see a place that still had white table clothes. I was once turned away because I did not have a reservation, but they explained they were making sure they did not over tax their staff as they were training someone new in the kitchen, it is exactly how it should be done to keep such high quality in their product. Don't let the humble building fool you, this is fine dining!
The risotto changes daily and could be hit or miss. Otherwise everything is great.
Great food. Nice quiet semi formal atmosphere. It even feels like a cozy European brasserie.
Service was good, food and place was very unsatisfactory. We spent $98, pre-tip and our steaks were tough and tasteless. Would not recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine. Our experience was exceptional and have added this restaurant to our "favorites" listing.
Lovely people bringing quality french dining to a neighborhood location. We enjoyed all courses. Rissoto and Salmon entrees were especially wonderful. Homemade bread to die for (sadly only one half slice). Highly appreciated this new find.
Exceptional, albeit expensive, food.
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had.
Date night at The Normandy. This restaurant has really impressed us this time around. I would highly recommend the Smoked Salmon Canapes to start. For entrees, the cassoulet and Filet Mignon were amazing. They tasted like home cooked …
Excellent French food, amazing service, wonderful atmosphere.
The food was fantastic, with great portion sizes. Highly recommended for an upscale food experience. However, the decor does not match the food and looks a bit thrown together.
Excellent service and food!
Moved here a few months ago. Took my partner on our first date. My partner is a chef and we absolutely loved this place. Food was perfect, staff were pleasant and personable. Everything was so lovely. Plates could use an upgrade, but the food was done to perfection so no complaints. :) a must go to spot and we will be back.
Don't let the outside of the building fool you, the quality of the food is incredible. Made from scratch, authentic, and excellent staff
Lovely little restaurant. Food was super good and authentic plus the waiters are really nice!
What a gem in Lincoln! Authentic, well-prepared, delicious French food!!
Very enjoyable meal. Everything tasted great and the service was fantastic. I will definitely return
Excellent food. We had a chef special of some sort with things I wouldnt typically order but it was nice to try some different things.
Amazing dining experience at The Normandy in Lincoln, Nebraska. French cuisine at its finest in a modest setting and incredible service! The mushroom soup is the perfect start to this fine dining experience and the Filet Mignon is beyond perfection. Layers and layers of flavor with Cabernet glazed mushrooms and caramelized onions atop heavenly whipped garlic mashed potatoes. I hope to return next time I'm in Lincoln. Merci and encore!
Cozy, comforting atmosphere. Attentive staff and delicious courses. Had cream of mushroom soup, filet mignon and the lemon tarte to finish. Satisfied with each dish completely.
Amazing food and service, my table shared two appetizers, four entrees and dessert. May go sample Sunday brunch with sweet and savory categories and $2 Mimosas Relaxed atmosphere. I recommend getting the blue mussels in garlic and shallot cream sauce and sopping up the leftover sauce with the bread with honey butter. They should advertise themselves more.
Great food, the Filet is awesome! Great atmosphere, great service. Don't miss it!
Food is fabulous and wine is the best. Suggest the duck, with cheese plate with wine and you'll be in thoroughly enjoying yourself. Easy parking and a quiet atmosphere.
Came in for brunch, and got the crepes of the day with fruit. Everything was delicious and service was great.
The food is the best in town!
We had an excellent brunch here. They offer three levels varying from a pastry with coffee to a large brunch with dessert. The food was very good, the quiche and the cream sauce was divine. Very calming atmosphere, also. We will go back.
Outstanding chef and service.
Humble with excellent service and good food. The owner is so sweet and doesn't mind taking s few minutes to chat. Lovely dining experience - definitely going back soon.
Amazing Chefs & Service!
Absolutely perfect casual French. Stupendous food and the most marvelous staff. Don’t miss this gem!
This place’s food was super gross. Do not recommend. Do not order steak.
Nothing else like it in Lincoln.
We were so impressed! The food was exquisite with wonderful pairings of flavors. Be sure to order the delicious lava cake with your meal as it takes 25 minutes to make it fresh. The service was great as well. This is definitely the best use of your date money.
Great dining experience. The filet is amazing and so was the risotto!
Excellent service, quality food, nominal prices. Ordered the Boeuf Bourguignon, which was tasty, but was obviously warmed up having been cooked the day before. Portion was somewhat small for the price. The ambiance is lacking, due to the …
I think it is in the 3 top restaurants in Lincoln. My favorite one.
I'll start off by saying the food was good and service was okay. I love French food and my girlfriend loves to get dressed up and try new restaurants but being in Lincoln Nebraska it's hard to find a place to dress up and not feel out of place. The pictures of the restaurant make it look fancy. White table cloths and candle light, so I took my girlfriend for our anniversary. In reality the place is very rundown. The carpet looks like it was recycled from a really really old office building and it's ripped and dirty. The candles looked like they had been brought from home after being used and abused. The menu is just a cheap laminated piece of paper... if you are gonna charge an average of 25 to 30 dollars for a meal you need to have a real menu and take some pride in your establishment. Just get some better carpet. Hang some curtains on the windows to give it some intimacy, get decent candles and menus and for got sake take the butcher paper off the table. It just seems like they don't care. Also their wine list is tiny and terrible. Overall I was very disappointed and felt like a jackass for telling my girlfriend it would be fancy. Too much money for a below average dining experience. Wish I could find a good french restaurant in Lincoln.
Amazing food and staff - the only improvement possible is the design. One of my favorite restaurants.
Sooooo delicious!!!
Excellent food, atmosphere & service.
Delicious
Absolutely fabulous!! Fantastic food, service and mood. Ask for Lawrence
Did Sunday brunch there with friends. The brunch menu is pretty straight forward. It is a bit pricey - but you know that going in. Food was interesting in regard to the selection. However, the flavors were not exceptional. Between that and the fact that the building is somewhat rundown, I probably would not make it a recurring activity.
Amazing Food
