This Restaurant is classified in the category of American restaurant.
The solitary location fits this quiet, relaxing establishment. White table clothes, soft lighting and light jazz track playing softly set the mood for a delightful menu. I had the candied walnut encrusted salmon with sautéed zucchini straws and spinach; brilliant presentation, combination and taste-$21. The service was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable-excellent! I could not have been more pleased to stop by chance on my way to to the Marriott. I'll look for a chance to come back
The food is amazing. The service was wonderful and welcoming. The acoustics are pretty bad. Very loud echoing inside. All in all. We loved it. And those that complain about the prices are just silly. Everything we had was well worth it.
The brisket want seasoned well, a touch of salt with various flavors, and cooked superbly. The best, though, was the chocolate beignet. I will be returning just for those.
Take time to enjoy their Unique entrees and great pastries
Once antique decoration tasty dishes and they have cappuccino it is very rare to have them both
The food and service are always great. We have the same server every time we go for lunch. She recognizes us, remembers our special requests, is patient, and always has a positive attitude.
Went there with a large group on short notice - they were stellar. Food wonderful, service great. A little more homey than foodie, but first rate in Lincoln.
The food here is AWESOME.... lobater bisque is excellent Steak tenderloin salad excellent Girlfriend had cup of libster bisque 1/2 xlyb sandwich with salad. No complaints at alll

Solid selection of nice French dishes, well prepared.
Their sunday brunch menu is always fantastic. Recommended menu are duck steak and crab cakes (egg benedicts).
Fantastic dessert. Of course, the Green Gateau!
Great food. Great service. Great value for excellent meal. We are in town for one night and are very pleased with our choice.
Great brunch. Fine dinner with a wine selection that is far and away above the average!
Hands down must go always go whenever I drive to Lincoln the best damn restaurant I think. From the people to the food to the wine to the amazing desserts this place is top-notch.
Prices are good and food.
Every dining experience has been exceptional! Last night I had the mixed grill and the steak was cooked to perfection, cut easily and the shrimp was delicious. Thank you!
It is always busy on weekends, but the food never disappoints and is worth the small wait. We go here for special occasions like birthday dinners and brunch.
Great mother's day brunch!
This is one of the best restaurants in Lincoln. One of the only places in this entire city to get brunch. The prices aren’t cheap, but you get what you pay for. The food is some of the best in town, and the friendly service can not be beat. I highly recommend the beignet with lemon curd!
I can't believe I waited so long to return here. I was last here in 1995. Regardless, today was 6 stars but there are only 5 available. If you enjoy food and you're in Lincoln, you must give this place a try. Service here is always so professional. The food is perfect every time. Our beignets where the best and the lemon curd was amazing! Expect about $20 per person out the door (includes a larger than you can eat breakfast, tea/coffee, and generous tip)...but what you get for the that $20 will bring you back again and again.
Experienced the brunch / breakfast menu . Food was great , service was good , will be going back for lunch / dinner!
We attended a wedding reception. The staff was incredible... they even brought out crayons and coloring books for the little ones.
Wonderful food. And they were about ready to close, but served us anyway. Customer service at its best!
Holy cow... absolutely wonderful breakfast. I'm not what I liked best, the lobster Benedict, duck hash or gourmet french toast.
Always excellent food and service!
The waiter was charming and the best waiter I've ever had in my life, extremely good at his job. The food had an excellent presentation with a variety of flavours, the best I've had in Lincoln. It has a pleasant atmosphere, perfect for a romantic date. The price is a little higher than the average restaurant, but the quality of the entire experience is well worth the money. We left the Green Gateau happy and with full stomachs.
Very. Very wonderful. Great people working their.
French onion soup! Cannot be beat!
Excellent food, service and patio
Quite possibly the best restaurant in Lincoln. The food is fantastic and great service to boot. For the quality of the food I feel the price point is too low. I haven't found a better deal in town.
Delicious food and attentive staff! Would definitely come again, for a nice evening out!
A small, cozy restaurant with a good variety of food and drink choices. My crème brulée came out with and eyelash, but was quickly replaced by the waitress and was not charged on the bill.
We love The Green Gateau! We were in town for the Michael Bublé concert and, of course, we ate brunch at The Green Gateau. I made reservations and we were seated immediately. Our server, Conrad, was great and made recommendations, which were very helpful. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu Crepes and they were AMAZING. If you haven’t had them, I highly recommend!!! And, the White Sangria paired perfectly with it - Conrad’s recommendation

Went here for brunch on a Sunday morning. The service was fast and efficient and the food was great. The party I was with ordered a variety of brunch entrees and we all sampled each entree. They were all good... I personally had the pancake sandwich which was amazing. The portion size was huge and I was only able to easy about a third of it witch was probably better for my waist.
Sunday brunch The food was hot and delicious! I love the corn beef hash but be sure to order the red pepper Cooley sauce on the side because it is overpowering for the dish! All four of us enjoyed our meal and the Ruben burger looked amazing! I have eaten here many times over the last 15 or 20 years however long they been open. They have fabulous breakfast lunches and dinners. I have enjoyed it so much that I chose it again to celebrate my wedding! And for that occasion in particular we had a super nice waiter. The wait staff is trained to give excellent service without stopping at your table to frequently. The food is almost always a ten. The atmosphere is especially charming.
Birthday dinner with my dad and Jody and rest of family
Really great food and friendly staff to make you and your friends/family feel comfortable.
Been our favorite place for years. A very romantic setting. Always great service and always amazing food!! The chicken Au Poiver is absolutely addicting! If you havnt heard about this place or have not tried it you are missing out on one of Lincolns finest restaurants. Thank you Green Gateau for all you do!! <3
Beautiful interior, knowledgeable staff, fantastic food.
Always great service and fabulous food.

Great place for breakfast or dinner by our experience over the 8 years we've been visiting Lincoln.
I have eaten at the Green Gateau numerous times, but this week they hit it out of the ballpark with their Seafood Combination Special! I would say this was one of the top 10 meals of my entire life! There is a reason why the Green Gateau is rated the #1 restaurant in Lincoln! Don’t let the unassuming exterior deter you from this unique dining experience. PS - try the desserts!
The food was awesome. I had the pasta and those with me had steak everybody was 100% satisfied.
Zach was our server. He was excellent. And the food was outstanding, too.
Amazing place
Excellent food and wonderful waitress. Quick service, friendly staff.Truly care about customers!
excellent. had a great time, awesome food.
This is very special restaurant. Fresh farm to market food, attentive service, and excellent preparation. Go when you want to get away from the world for a little while.
Excellent food and service. Great place to get together with friends and catch up.
Beautiful atmosphere and delicious food!!!! One of my favorite places to eat. Highly recommend!!!!!
My daughter and I love to dine here when I visit. Lunch or dinner you will not be disappointed.
Great food and friendly service. The only thing I don’t like is having to decide what to order because everything is amazing.
So we came here for brunch, the wait was about 20min even though we had made a reservation. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with the scone of the day, I was given a different scone (which was actually a better choice since the oatmeal raisin was blah) anyway my food looks, and tasted great. The biscuits and gravy are absolutely delicious! My friends ordered the French toast special, lol it was so sad it came with 1 egg, one piece of toast and one sausage patty, the other got the hash, which didn't look too good, it resembled a pile of potatoe. For the price I was expecting more from this place, I probably won't come back.
Always a delight.
Excellent service and food. Great environment and beautiful decor

Highly recommend. A little pricey for Lincoln but worth it. This is one of the few good brunch places
Such a cute restaurant and the food was great!
Service was good. Atmosphere was calm. Prices are reasonable. Good lunch spot.
One of my favorite places downtown. The brunch is always good and the food is delicious.
Great service, very well prepared tasting dishes and Wow desserts!
It's a really nice place with great service and the food was fantastic
The food and customer service was excellent!
The service was very good and the food and drinks were amazing.
Great food and bloody Mary! Not a huge brunch guy, but will definitely be back anytime I am in Lincoln.
Possibly the best food I've ever eaten
Food was good ! Service was good! I would rate it 4 1/2 stars!
Great food, nice atmosphere, and very good service
Fun place, high quality, competent staff. $$$
A great "jewel" of a restaurant with an amazing menu. Breakfast for two - one ordering quiche, another a more "traditional" bacon and eggs breakfast. Food was amazing. Service was above an beyond. Going back.
Dinner and presentation was excellent.
The food is excellent the service is great
I've been coming here since right after they opened in October 1992.. Weekend brunch is very good, I always get an order of Beignets with some lemon curd & share them with whoever comes with... I've tried most things on the brunch menu & the only thing I can complain about is they took the Oatmeal (the old fashioned kind) with multiple toppings off the menu.. They lunch & dinner menu have lots of choices to choose from & again, over the years I've tried alot of it..My current favourite is the Mac & Cheese, it comes with 2 add ins & you can choose more for a nominal price... They do serve wine & cocktails.. The desserts are Oh Yea Yummy!!! Don't hesitate to go here as you won't be sorry & it has plenty of ambiance...
My second time at this place while visiting Lincoln. Really good gluten free options and vegetarian good! Very cute and quant. Busy, but good service, a definite stop!
Excellent service and great food. We were greeted immediately and seated right away. I would recommend Green Gayeau to all.
Delicious food. Lovely service. Definitely reasonably priced!
I am visiting from Minneapolis and have worked in the service industry for 11 years, so finding a truly enjoyable dining experience can be few and far between. The food was great and very reasonably priced. Everyone in my group very much enjoyed the service as well. Our server (I think his name was Zach) was professional and on top of the special requests some of us had made. I'll definitely be returning the next time I'm in town!
This is an top-notch restaurant with incredible staff and amazing food. Located conveniently in downtown Lincoln, there is plenty of nearby parking. There is a diverse menu with plenty of options. The desserts are also amazing. I definitely plan on coming back soon!
The Green Gateau is nice, yet small for a place to eat. Rather than typical paper napkins, you get a decent size cloth napkin. Nicely decorated. Food can be somewhat on the pricey side, depending on selection. Staff is friendly. You do not need to worry about running out of water, as they give regular refills. Great food no matter the time of day! Weekend breakfast is amazing! The French toast is delightful! The ambiance is great for couples or a family is just as welcomed! Customer service is fantastic!!!
Dinner was great, wine pairing was good. Made for a nice date night.
Artichoke chicken was so good! Nice atmosphere and great servers!
This is my favorite "fancy" restaurant in Lincoln. They have excellent quality food and a relaxed dining experience. The service is always above par, we've actually had the same server every time who now recognizes us and is very warm and friendly. They even accommodated our toddler when we couldn't get a babysitter for date night. They were warm and friendly with him.
Excellent cuisine, service, experience! Make a reservation and enjoy!
Excellent Food and Service

A family favorite with so many delicious choices! Wonderful decor and top-notch service! Very welcoming. Don't leave without trying the creme brulee!
Green Gateau has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants to go to. Great food AND great servers/service. Last night, my hubby and I went for supper. My entree was a bit much as we had ordered an appetizer as well. When we were finishing up, our waiter took my food to box it up for me. He came back rather sheepishly and stated that my "leftovers" had accidentally been thrown away when he turned his back for just a moment. He then offered me 2 choices: they could remake my meal (the whole entree) to go OR a gift certificate. I chose to have them make me another meal (I was planning on the leftovers for lunch today). So, kudos to our waiter and to Green Gateau for taking care of your customers. We will be back AND be recommending you to others as well. Thank you for doing the right thing and maybe a little extra by going beyond what was expected. ❤❤
Wonderful fun place
I really enjoy Sunday Brunch at Green Gateau, the dishes are original and so are the flavors, and its not too expesinve. So to say the dishes are consistent. However, service is slow and waiters tend to forget things like refilling water glasses, etc. But I continue to come, because its a great spot and I recommend it, and recommend ordering the beignets and the truffle fries.Delightful and delicious Wanted to try everyone’s choice!!!! We had a private room which was wonderful. Good service. Beautiful atmosphere. There wasn’t a dish served that I didn’t want to try. Need to come back again!!!
It was amazing always get the creme bru le and was the best creme bru le ever
This is, hands-down, my favorite place to eat in Lincoln when we visit from KC. My wife and I are always amazed at the quality of the food and the super-low price. We were in particular sticker-shock after our recent trips to Vegas and Hawaii. The amazing entrees at the Gateau are cheaper than the drinks in the places we'd just been. Amazing! I don't know how you do it, but KEEP DOING IT!
Eclectic spot that has unique food. The French toast was amazing and the eggs delish. Super busy and popular place with quite a few servers on staff. The place was clean, well lit and the restrooms were clean. It is a tad pricey but you get what you pay for.
Oh my goodness the food was so good the biscuits are by far the best I have ever had.
We took my stepdad here for father's day . Long wait but great food

Love this place, we went there for our anniversary dinner . I had grouper and my wife had the wagyu beef. Both were excellent. They paired a good wine and appetizers to with our meal. They did not disappoint us.
My husband and I are foodies from Portland, Oregon, and we visited Lincoln for a week and this was the best place we ate! They clearly care about food on a level beyond other local places. The service was superb and attentive, and the seafood special so fresh. We tried several local restaurant recommendations and in the end we wished we would have eaten here every night. It's is rumored as just a fancy date place, but they also have burgers and less expensive options, so just match your taste buds to your budget.
Went there for Father's Day and called ahead to make the reservation. Was put on a waitlist without an explanation that it meant first come, first served. We waited 35 minutes and left disappointed. Went to Wilderness Ridge and had a great buffet with no wait. Overall was horrible experience trying to get a table at Green G and will not go there again based on that. eric lemke needs to change things. The guy working at the host stand could have been more professional and basically said "leave if you don't like it"
Absolutely wonderful service and food. Definitely will be back.
Wonderful service and excellent food. We enjoyed the atmosphere, fairly priced food and drinks.
Good for first time visit. Good vegetarian options. Nice staff
High quality food and staff. Had amazing fettuccine and shared a raspberry lemon cake dessert for about $25 including tip. Waiter was very friendly and kind. One of the best restaurants in lincoln.
The food, service and atmosphere was great. Some of the entrees are pricey, but well worth it. Lincoln is know for very bland and basic restaurants. Good but not great. This restaurant stands out to the point where you forget that you’re in Lincoln, Nebraska. This is easily the best restaurant in the city.
Food was too amazing and so was the service.
Definitely my favorite place to eat in Lincoln! The food is amazing, I've never tried anything I didn't enjoy. I'm a college student and I feel like the prices are very reasonable. I would say the only negative thing is sometimes the manager is rude to his staff (giving them a hard time in front of customers), very awkward. It's happened now on a few of my visits there.. but honestly even with that guy it's an amazing establishment.
We were going to a show in Lincoln and a friend recommended this restaurant. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. He gave great recommendations and his service was outstanding. We had the truffle fries as an appetizer. Our entrees were the featured specials. Trout and a flatiron steak. They were delicious. We opted to share dessert. Fabulous. This was a great experience. I highly recommend.
Good place to grab lunch. I recommend the California burger!
The atmosphere is second to none! The food out of this world! Every employee greets you with a smile!!!☺☺☺☺
Excellent food and service. Very friendly and competent.
This has been my favorite for years. Never have had bad thing there in the 20 years I have been going there.
The most velvety filet. Our server was just outstanding, too.
The wait staff made sure we're had everything we needed and did it in a timely manner. The food was excellent as well.
Oh my goodness, heaven in my mouth
This place has the most amazing breakfast and quite the nice outdoor patio. The mimosas here are the best way to start your Saturday mornings in this small town!
Love this quaint place. You know it’s good because it’s packed every time I go in. The food is phenomenal and so is the atmosphere.
We love the Green Gateau so much that our wedding reception was there. We went today for breakfast for the first time. It was a big time thumbs down unfortunately. I had the eggs florentine. The wheat English muffin dominated the flavor of this dish and the english muffin should have been toasted ahead of the other ingredients being added. The hollandaise sauce had no flavor. I ordered a side of pancakes and they were almost an inch thick.. it might just be me but that's not my preference. I left half my food as I left. My husband had biscuits, gravy, and sausage. He said the gravy had tomato base and the sausage had no flavor. We'll be back for lunch or dinner, but no breakfast. So disappointing and then our waitress didn't give us the change back from our payment. Therefore, the tip was much smaller than it would have been.
Stopped for coffee and dessert after the Symphony. Wonderful desserts. It was not crowded. We were able to visit with our elderly guest.
This place is very nice. It is more for couples than for family with kids. Prices are a bit higher than average but it is really worth it. They have an excellent wine list and a good choice of local beers (all in can). The food is amazing and worth every single buck. The staff is very polite but reserved - no big chit chat. Highly recommended for couples.
Delicious! Try the cream Italian sodas.
Biscuits n' Gravy
Good food and drinks. Pleasant employees. Little pricey
Wonderful place for a gathering. Great service.. exceptional. Fantastic food.
Most satisfy with customer service. Food taste great and not fat
Had a delicious dinner celebrating a birthday at Green Gateau. The lobster fettuccine was FULL of seafood and very flavorful. We also enjoyed the crepe cordon blue, mixed grill, sun dried tomato fettuccini and salmon. We started the meal with the truffle fries and calamari which came with unique dipping sauces. Would love to give a five rating but the service left something to be desired. It took at least 10 minutes to be waited on for our order. Then waited 10 minutes between appetizers and dinner. Once our meal came, we were half way through before they refilled our water which we had to ask for. After finishing our meal and waiting over 15 minutes to be asked about dessert, we decided to go elsewhere worrying it would take an additional hour to get it. We will be back, only because the food was so good!!
This place gets a 4.5. I went for brunch and they had a really good selection of food. Dress a little bit nicer if you come here but I was wearing jeans and a husker shirt and wasn't shunned away. Servers were all very nice and the food was really good. Didn't blow me away good but I would go back and try there dinner meal for sure.
Always amazing! Excellent food and service!
Great brunch spot!
Great brunch. Classy place and delicious food.
Went for my in-laws 60th anniversary. We had a great time and great food.
Great variety of food choices, excellent prices, friendly service.
Terrific restaurant. We almost never give 5 stars. All items were great as was the service. Monkfish wrapped with salmon on risotto with shrimp was unique complex and every aspect was very good.
Had to ask for more coffee other than that it was amazing food and great service would suggest this place to anybody
Nice, unique place to eat and chat. A romantic atmosphere and easy place to talk. Will take some small groups - suggest calling in advance for groups. Desert is really special here. Also love the Raspberry tea.
Excellent food. Good service. Good wine. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars was the fly that was buzzing around for our entire meal.
Nice place. Good food.
I was very impressed with or seafood the salmon is excellent and they have a great variety of desserts
Definitely felt the French connection.
Never disappoints. This is a must in Lincoln, NE
Quickly makes eating breakfast anywhere else feel like eating out of a dumpster.
Excellent service and good food. Reasonable price as well.
A favorite restaurant. Lots of vegetarian/vegan options, and they are willing to customize the order. Top quality french style cooking.
Breakfast and later burgers. Very good. Nice atmosphere. No TV's. Or big red junk. Relaxing.
I've been to a lot of restaurants in Lincoln. This is by far the best. Food is fresh, tea is amazing, service is wonderful and everything is perfect every time. It's pricey but worth it. If you want quality, you have to pay. But with this place, you won't regret it. Thanks Green Gateau :D

Great food, amazing fries, decent service

The place itself is nice, but the food tastes like someone poured sugar and fat over it. Probably the biggest disappointment in Lincoln.
Wonderful food!! Definitely worth a visit. Cody is a great server - attentive and pleasant.
This was a very good place to eat.
Doug the waiter was amazing, the manager (don't recall his name) was very helpful. Food was spot on, well presented and cooked to perfection. I would go here all the time if my budget would allow it!
Friendly staff. Awesome food. Cozy atmosphere inside. And prices are great for what you're getting.
Nice food and nice atmosphere
Great food, great service, great atmosphere!
Great food, but service can be slow, especially when it's busy. Tends to be a tad more expensive, but portions are generous. Solid brunch spot in Lincoln.
It was worth skipping appetizers so we had room for the wonderful desserts.
Delicious food and outstanding service! Quaint little restaurant for a romantic date. I'm looking forward to my return. I'll make sure to save room for cake next time:)
Great food. Slow service.
We had a wonderful breakfast there. It was one of the fanciest places that I have had breakfast. The food was good.
This place was good lot of food.
I loved this place, Excellent food at a reasonable price. Friendly staff
Love the plain beignets with lemon curd. Although they are delicious on their own.
Brussels sprouts $9 - These roasted brussels sprouts were amazing in their maple cider glaze! All the flavors worked really well together and the brussels sprouts were tender with the right amount of char. This was my favorite dish of the night. They came with 3 dipping sauce, but they were too delicious to eat with sauce.Truffle Fries $7 - These fries were good and not overly truffled. They came with 3 dipping sauce, but they were tasty on their own
Entertain my friend from Las Vegas who was impressed with the menu and wine slection
