I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR!!! I came here 1 month ago with a group of friends and my father (we are all Black). My dad is a much older man, over 70 years old, and was not allowed in the restaurant without showing his ID. We thought it was a joke at first, but the man at the front was very adamant and rude about my dad showing his ID. For contrast, we went to many other bars in Lincoln and he was not asked to show his ID at any of them. We felt extremely uncomfortable and that the workers were watching us the whole time we sat there. We ended up eating very quickly so we could leave. I will never go back here and do not recommend it for any other Black people!

HopCat has a huge selection of beers and drinks to choose from, and the atmosphere is awesome - very cool wall designs and chandeliers to look at. However, last night there didn't seem to be a ton of people there, but the service was unfortunately slow. It took awhile to receive our drinks; we could have tasted more beers if they had been made quicker. Very cool place though.

What's not to love about this place? The burgers are always well-made, the fries are out of this world, and there's over 100 beer options. Not only that, but the servers are always welcoming and kind no matter what time of day it is. Happy hour can't be beat either. $5 off of the burgers and half off the fries?? No other place I've been to has such great deals for the quality of the food. My husband also consistently comments on the great music selection they always have coupled with the beautiful interior including the "record" ceiling. My only complaint is that there isn't more of these in the country. We definitely need one in southern California because we would be there more than any other place every month. This is THE burger place to go to in Lincoln. It is miles better than Honest Abe's.

The food was very good. I checked before I went to make sure they had a kids menu, and they did. Unfortunately the food on the kids menu wasn't as kid-friendly as it sounded, so my son wouldn't eat it. Even the French fries had too much pepper and seasoning for him to eat.

Not impressed by their service. My brother in law ordered the fish and chips, asked for cocktail sauce and no one knew what it was!?! (How can a place that serves fish not have cocktail sauce on hand?). His food was also cold, and had to be remade. They were out of the cider I wanted (granted, it was a popular item, but it was not marked as out on the menus). Music was a bit too loud for decent conversation at normal voice levels. Will probably not go back mostly because I'm not a huge drinker.

Great place. Food is solid. Nothing local, and likely not made from scratch. But it's bar food. The place early in the day is kid friendly . Their craft beer game is good. Be sure to check the taps or beertenders as the beer menus aren't updated as frequently as they should be. If you are into craft beer and are in the haymarket, definitely frequent this place.

Wasn't a big fan. The vibe is nice, but that does not make up for the flaws. I ordered a plain coffee, and it was lukewarm, verging on cold. Not many cheese free options (even before going dairy free, I always found foods drenched in cheese to be lacking in real flavor), which made me hesitant. Got a chicken sandwich, it was fine, chicken was a bit stringy. The service itself was fine but we had to wait a decent amount of of time before being served, with not many customers in.

Waited over 45 minutes for food, drinks took 15 minutes a piece. Just assumed they were busy from the outside patio being full but upon walking inside it was nowhere near capacity. Was assuming the waiter would offer some sort of discount or at least apologize for how long it took but that never happened either. Food was okay but overpriced, drinks were bad and overpriced. Overall will not be going here again.

Sloppy Joe covered in cheese sauce! Need I say more? My partner ordered the Mushroom and Swiss stuffed burger. He said it was full of flavor and cooked just right. Service was fast and friendly!

My friend and I enjoyed meals with beer on a Thursday evening. We were promptly seated and after a short wait had our beer. Hopcat serves 130 beers, many from area brewers. He ordered the Angry Bird sandwich with crack fries. The chicken breast was tender and juicy and the sauce had just the right amount of kick. I ordered the turkey wrap and crack fries. The wrap was full of turkey, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese and so large I took half home. The fries were hot with just the right amount of pepper.

Hop Cat in Lincoln, NE have yo ? If this location is having financial issues??? Saturday Aug. 31 for first Nebr. Football Saturday- only bar in Haymarket not open before game. After the game only half the place was open. They refused to sit people at all the empty tables inside and out because they did not have staff. On a day when every restaurant/ bar was doing banner business with overflow customers for Hop Cat to only operate at half capacity is hard to explain. We will never go back there.

Their food is good, but inconsistent. I've had over and undercooked burgers. So, I guess I should say their food potentially is good. Cosmic fries are always ridiculously good, though. I don't think they technically meet the definition of a fry, but that's a philosophical debate for another time. The place does have a lot of taps so they have a great variety of beer and it's always busy.

This restaurant is located right in the middle of the downtown Lincoln/Haymarket area. There are quite a variety of items on the menu, including signature burgers, poutine, mac and cheese, etc. Service is amazing - I ate dinner with a large party recently and the staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful. The decor of the dining space is also very nice - one wall has a very fancy black and white painted mural. I definitely plan on visiting again soon!

Typical craft beer bar atmosphere. Beer selection is something for everyone. I do not drink beer and was able to get a glass of adequate red wine. Better than what a lot of craft beer places offer. The pub food had enough diversity for everyone to find something they looked forward to eating. Casual, fun, and no pretense - just beer, food and good company/service. This is the second year we have gone to HopCat before taking our family to a Husker game...once again it didn't disappoint! Great service, lots of seating and fabulous food and BEER!! Make sure you don't miss the crack fries!!

Very good food. Food did take forever to get and one of our people didnt get their food. It just wasn't entered in. I liked that they tried to fix it but I just dont think it should have happened. Plus it was going to take another 20 minutes to get it. I would have made sure it was done asap.

Looked like a cute place to stop for a drink and a meal. Menu has quite a variety which is nice. I had the grilled cheese with tomato Apple soup and it was unique and delicious. There menu talks about their French fries being amazing so I was exited to try them. But very disappointed they were cold and dry. Between that and being pretty pricey we probably won't visit again. Two entrees and two beers were $50.

Used to be a 5 star, but the last few times I visited, they were unable to cook a burger to order. No matter how you ask for it, it's always well done. It also wasn't this locations decision, but HopCat as a restaurant removed the best thing on their menu, the Vladimir Poutine. It was amazing and I've lost all desire to visit HopCat for their food.

The fries are seasoned nicely! Our server was attentive and friendly. The rewards program gives you a free appetizer if you sign up right there, so that will save you $10, too!

As we visited back home we were told of this "brewery" Let's just say this...NOT a brewery BUT does offer an array of beers Both Local and Import. Atmosphere was stuffy the bar tender was not very attentive and Did NOT offer my (DD) designated driver any FREE coffee or soda -even after being asked about it the bartender stated "they Don't do that!"_WTF? At any rate it's not likely we will Ever be back again!

Fun dining experience and very cool interior decoration. Food is fun and creative, however, every time I eat there I remember why I don’t come more often. Their stuffed burgers are good but beyond that there really isn’t a menu item that sounds good enough for its price. Yeah, Mac and cheese sounds good but it’s just too expensive. The beer selection is AMAZING... but once again pretty expensive. tl;dr creative fun menu with cool dining experience. Big beer selection. But overpriced. Good for the occasional date night!

This is one of my favorite places to go whenever I make it back to Lincoln. For a lot of people, the big draw is the beverage selection, but I'm a fan of the cheese curds, crack fries, and macaroni. Their burgers are also pretty good, but the three above tend to be what I get and what I suggest for my friends when I bring them there.

Forgot to take photos! Dishes are usually visually pleasing. Our friends love the chili mac and the pulled pork mac and cheese. We all had pretzel bites appetizers which are delish - esp horseradish that comes with! Potent. I had the 3-cheese grilled cheese and red pepper soup....good. Husband had fish sandwich- also good. Really good onion rings! Typically very noisy but early evening and students gone made it low enough noise we could talk comfortably. That's a nice switch. Later at night + school year puts noise at level I wont go there to eat!!

Amazing food with an endless drink menu that will take your mimosa mondays to a whole new level. Cosmic fries are probably the best thing to grace the earth and the grilled cheese will put you into cardiac arrest and straight to cheese heaven. This small restaurant is in an exciting building right against the street, but inside it is very pleasant. I was with a group for Lunch on a Saturday and we were seated in a room off to the side and it was amazingly quiet. We could easily hear each other around the table for eight. I wasn't keen on the idea of "green cake" but the Green Gateau turned out to be a wonderful chocolate cake with chocolate mouse in the center. The icing was a lovely swirly spring green (reputedly from pistachios, though I didn't detect that flavor. It is said to have been Monet's favorite cake.

They have a breathtaking selection of beer, and the staff is very knowledgeable about the different types and work to make sure you have an awesome time. In addition to the beer, the food is also out of this world. Everything, from the stuffed burgers to the mac and cheese to the wings, is incredible, and do not even get me started on the crack fries. It's free to sign up, and you can get discounts and free food coupons. I think you even get a free order of the fries just for signing up, so it's a win win situation. They even had a member appreciation month recently with a ton of really awesome deals. They also hold cool events every month, and they love their trivia nights. What a cool place! Checking out the college and did a a self guided brewery tour, this is a taproom. No in-house brews, but you don't miss them, selection on tap is abundant! Art, decor, and the circular bar are inviting and make you want to stay for a few. Only reason not five stars is that I didn't try the food. Hope there is a next time!

BEST. FRIES. EVER! We were visiting from our home of Texas, where we're pretty proud of our food, and were recommended this restaurant by someone we met, and we loved it! We ended up ditching our entrees for the fries with cheese sauce. So GOOD! The atmosphere, decor, and location are also good and the service is very friendly.

Super fun and trendy spot in the Haymarket district. The decor was so awesome. Love the album art on the ceiling. We had a graduation party with 14 people. Excellent service and the food was great. Definitely give this place a try. The beer menu was huge. We all had a blast! Thanks, HopCat!!

Awesome atmosphere, good Sunday brunch, as always, the best craft beer selection on tap anywhere (bartender was spot on in recommending pairing with brunch item). As always...CRACK FRIES WERE SPECTACULAR! I've never had a bad experience at HopCat Lincoln South Haymarket!
