We have a steakhouse that we usually go to….since we were gonna be in downtown area…my hubby decided to make a reservation at FlatIron to celebrate my birthday :) this is how it started that night: we stucked in a traffic…so i called to let them know…the guy on the other side of the line..when picked up the phone didn't even say hi…or anything…he was talking to someone else…so I politely told him we will be late…he just OK… second: when we arrived…they didn't ask ask us if we wanted to check in our coats..no hi …no how are you this evening..its like oh we got enough customers that we don't need to be nice to everyone who comes here to eat! 3: they set us on the table where I didn't think it had a RESERVED sign!!! We were asked to move to another table because that table was reserved for someone else……SOOOO when my husband called to make a reservation THAT was not a reservation? huh….so we moved…and when I asked it doesn't say reserved he told me well there is MENY on the table so it means RESERVED! WTF? 4: when I ordered my kale salad , asked what kind of salad? what kind of dressing an detc…so he looked at me like ok..you stupid foreigner…he is like Its KALE…without even telling me what dressing did it have….so he brought my kale salad…it was awe full…dressing was yogurt with big crumbs of blue cheese..which I'm allergic too…I literary throw up in my napkin….. SO EVERYTHING WAS TERRIBLE! Oh and PRICES! for that money that you pay you need to expect a PERFECT service …explanation of what kind of food it is…SKIP this place… I am not writing this review just because…..when you pay $160 for a dinner 2 times a year….and get this treatment….its just not right!

Service is always good when I go, for for the most part is very good. Desserts are excellent. However, my tastes are very simple, and most of the food has very extravagant flavor. It is quite pricey, I'd range the average price per person around $80. That's appetizer, salad/soup, entree, dessert, and drink.

This is a really fantastic restaurant with amazing service and wonderful food. The waiter suggested a really wonderful drink and took time to explain each step and each dish. A great view from the restaurant on all sides of the Omaha cityscape. Be sure to put coins in the meter as I saw people getting parking tickets while having a bite. The duck I had was phenomenal. The glaze they use is really superb.

Go somewhere else in the market! The steaks lack taste and quality. The prices are through the roof, especially the specials on wine. ASK PRICES, they are worse then a used cars salesman at up selling their average product. The owner is touch with all the woman at your table, he is quite a weird person. AVOID at all costs, and we have dined in Chicago, Los Angeles and other place --- this isn't special.

The food is amazing. But be warned, it's not a cheap cafe. Google lists them as a $$ and that's wrong. Entrees are $40-$50. Two adults with 1 drink each, 1 shared appetizer, and 2 entrees was $122 before tip. Don't get me wrong, it was one of the best steaks I've ever had, and the portions are generous, but if you go in there expecting to drop $50 you're gonna have a bad time. Not the restaurant's fault, I'd still recommend eating here if you can afford it.

Took the wife here for her birthday and we both loved it. All the staff here was very friendly and knowledgeable regarding the food and drink menus. I really enjoyed the pace at which each course was brought out, plenty of time to sit and enjoy the meal. You are not rushed (unless you have a show to catch and they ask that once you are seated). The appetizer, entrees and deserts were amazing, this is definitely a place that we will return too.

Butter tasted like was prepped days before and let sit in a walk in fridge. Had pieces of black wilted lettuce in salad. Service was fair, had to ask twice for coffee refill. Beautifully presented entrees that were enjoyable. I eat all over the country every month and feel the price was double what it should be for the experience and quality.

Fantastic dining experience! I love this place and need to dine here more often! Through the years a number of different restaurants where established downtown Omaha near the Orpheum, especially on 16th Street. But one place met the challenge and continues to provide excellent service and fine dining one block away from the Orpheum! The Flatiron! The Flatiron is not right on 16th Street and it is not in the Old Market, so it is often over-looked, not just for pre-theater dining, but regular dining out experiences. Please do not overlook this wonderful restaurant! The restaurant pioneered "The Flatiron Steak," that wonderful beef filet that other restaurants have paid homage to the Flatiron by calling it "The Flatiron Steak." The French Onion Soup is from the original French Cafe's recipe. Appetizers are yummy, and everything on the menu is flavorful and prepared perfectly. Steaks to seafood and pasta. Great wine list and wonderful takes on fun cocktails. Dessert... wonderful choices as well. Service top notch! Do not overlook this gem in the wonderful Flatiron Building. If you are lucky, owner Kathleen will warmly welcome you on your arrival!

A wonderful experience and meal. The brussel sprout, scallop and calamari appetizers were fantastic. All 6 of our main courses were spectacular. And the Lithuanian dessert is a must try. Service was also top notch. Was one of the top 5 best meals we've had at any restaurant.

Pricey but worth it on special occasions! If you don't mind sitting at the bar, I recommend doing so. The bartender was super friendly and answered all of our questions and gave great suggestions from what to eat, great drinks and places to see.

First time here. Staff was friendly and attentive. We were seated quickly. Out server made good recommendations. The lobster and rib-eye steak were delicious. Portions were okay. Prices were pretty higher than other restaurants of the same class in the area. But it was a great place.

My wife and I dined at Flatiron for our wedding anniversary and were extremely pleased. From the moment we walked through the door, everyone was courteous and very attentive to our needs. The hostess and wait staff were very pleasant, cordial, and even comical at times. The staff had an in-depth knowledge of their menu and made great recommendations. The appetizer, first plate, and main courses were out-of-this-world amazing, and the dessert somehow managed to top that. The ambience was pleasant, the noise level was very low, and the mood was enhanced by the pleasantry of live violin music. The location of the restaurant itself was very unique, an isosceles-shaped restaurant nestled on a street corner in downtown Omaha. I can't speak to their kid-friendliness due to no children present at our time of dining, nor to the bar scene, as we dined around 6pm on a Wednesday evening. Overall: outstanding, highly recommended, and we will be back!

We enjoyed a dinner before going to the Orpheum Theater. First off, having a gluten free diet, they were incredibly accommodating, many of the dishes were prepared gluten free, and the waiter confirmed any ingredients. My wife had the beef tenderloin, she said the whole thing was amazing. I had the duck, and it was outstanding. The duck was well prepared, and the orange gastrique was delicious.

Completely unique building (in flatiron shape like NY) in a great location. We stayed at Magnolia hotel and walked. We sat at bar and the service and food were outstanding. We thoroughly enjoy he food and discussion with another patron and the bartender. Would definitely come back.

Here on business, co-worker and I were looking for a good steak. We were told to try the flatiron Cafe. We walked over to get dinner only to be stopped at the door and denied service. The reason was because we were wearing ball caps and my coworker was wearing a tank top. Too a little longer walk and found amazing steak at Sullivan's! Short walk, worth it!!

A glitch on the reservation, then a lovely dinner. They were surprised to see our party of 9, even though the Open Table reservation was sitting on the computer at the host's station. However, they scrambled and after about 20 minutes, we were seated and enjoying lovely service and wonderful food. Our out-of-town guests were surprised that Omaha had such good food. I was a bit surprised when a man seemed to walk in off the street and offer me single roses for sale for $5 each, but recovered enough to have the sense to buy one for my wife, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law. In a cashless society, carry cash! Walked to Mixin's down the street for dessert. Tasty and lots of fun.

The service was absolutely awful, and it diminished the fact that the food was actually pretty good. We were seated at a table with a visibly/chunky dirty napkin on the seat. Our waiter took 10+ minutes to take a drink order, and then he took another 20+ minutes to come back to order our food. When he first came over, he asked us if we were there because we heard they had "kind of good food"; for $40-$50 a plate, I'd hope the food was better than "kind of good". He kept talking about how every entree came with a house salad, but we never received these salads. We had 5 different people deliver our food and clear plates, which is probably why no one knew we didn't get our salads. It wasn't pleasant to see every table around us get them, but there wasn't anyone who came by to ask us how we were doing either. The waiter did not come to check on us for either the appetizer course or the dinner course. There was a guy walking around selling roses, who interrupted our conversation; it felt very uncomfortable to be sold something during dinner. We had a gift card to use, and the waiter really rudely asked "how are you planning to leave the tip," which seemed inappropriate and abrasive; we were obviously planning on tipping him despite the fact that he took horrible care of us, and we left his tip in cash. I got the pork chop, which was good, but the potatoes with it were so salty they were hard to eat. We're disappointed our experience deviated so much from the wonderful reviews this restaurant gets.

I can't decide if the food outshined the service or vice versa. The staff was amazingly cordial, friendly, and accommodating. The food was phenomenal! I can highly recommend the brussel sprout or shitake mushroom appetizer; both amazingly flavorful. All of our entrees were perfectly prepared, as well. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the duck was moist with deliciously crispy skin. This is a must-try fine dining experience!

With my wife I give it a 4 stars mostly for the aviance. The ribeye was stringy and not as tender as expected. It came with 3 dipping sauces of which I liked only one. My wifes was happy with her salmon and sides. The wine was good and the waiter was nice and helpful. Total cost was a big bill per person.

Our service was amazing. My only complaint is in reference to our first plate. The potatoe crusted scallops. They were cooked to perfection. Then topped with "caviar" . I don't know why you would make an amazing dish, then put a sub par highlight on it. Either use real caviar, ( not lumpfish) or get rid of that garnish. It adds nothing to the dish.
