You might not expect great dining in Lincoln, Nebraska, but this farm-to-table menu really shines. The service was slow but meticulous; our waiter very quickly grasped the tastes of everyone in our party and was patient in explaining the dishes. Everything was fabulously fresh and beautifully plated. The flavors of the main dishes and accompaniments were harmonious to a degree that's very uncommon. The only complaint at the table was that doneness requests weren't fully honored; not a place to order your filet well-done if you expect it served gray. Expensive, but a very good value for the prices if you appreciate dinner as chef-craft.

Dish restaurant in downtown Lincoln offers an amazing dining experience. In the 1980's, the restaurant Rotisserie occupied the space and had excellent food and fantastic customer service with a highly trained waitstaff. I would frequently bring visitors to Omaha to that restaurant in Lincoln just because of the quality of the food and the service. For a period of time after my beloved Rotisserie closed, the space was occupied by a Tex-Mex type restaurant. But I was overwhelmed with joy at my last visit to Lincoln to find that Dish was in that wonderful space in a former bank. One of the charms of the restaurant are the windows which provides a wonderful view from any table. I notice in addition outside dining is available. Dining choices are wide-ranging. Service impeccable. Food was well-prepared and well presented. If you want wonderful place for dining that is off the normal routine of Omaha restaurants, or if you're visiting Lincoln, you must go to Dish Restaurant. It is highly recommended by me. I guarantee that you will go back again!

Inadequate ventilation filled the restaurant with smoke so thick the place could’ve been a cigar bar, and diners wreaked of cooking. Which is too bad, because the food is superb.

In from Chicago, doing business in Lincoln, my colleague and I had dinner at DISH. I was extremely suspicious when the waiter said that the scallop risotto was the best thing on the menu — we were in NEBRASKA — but then the (adorable) young man said, "Trust me: I'm from California and these are really, really good." He was right. I loved my meal. The decor is a little cheesy, but don't let it scare you. Our food was thoughtfully prepared and intelligently designed. Oh, but you guys: The wine pours? Please! Not cool. That was some skimpy serving! It doesn't look fancy to give so little in the glass, it just looks ... skimpy. Otherwise, merci.

A great meal last night. Rob is a huge asset to the restaurant. We talked through a few potential food issues my partner has. He worked with the kitchen and came up with a great salmon dish. I had the cherry duck which was fantastic. A plateful of flavors and textures that worked beautifully. We finished with an amazing chocolate torte and white chocolate sorbet. The only wrinkle, for the price, the cocktails were somewhat underwhelming in size and flavor. Its not an inexpensive place to eat but then great, well prepared food is worth every penny and our food last night was just that.

Highly recommended!! What a great find in Lincoln. The atmosphere is quiet and its easy to visit with your table. Greeted well at the door, seated immediately. The chairs are very comfortable and the whole mood is relaxing. Our server as quiet, efficient, fast, helpful. Perfect! Every dish that was served was unique, hot and GOOD! We shared 2 appetizers--the bacon wrapped dates and scallop brushetta. The table had the crab cake salad, piergoes, duck, seafood special. All was shared and all was very good. It will be first on our list next time we visit our daughter in college!

I went to dish last year in October for our anniversary. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. For the price I was expecting a much smaller meal but their portions are quite generous! We started out with their cheese plate which was really good. I got the salmon and the hubby got the scallops both entrees were wonderful. I remember loving the kale they had with my salmon. Their wine selection was really nice they were very helpful when it came to choosing one to pair with our meals. I dont remember what we got for dessert but they were both wonderful and neither of us shared with each other. Dish has a nice atmosphere and excellent food I would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner/date.

We normally love Dish but not last night. Their New Year’s Eve menu was disappointing. The food was not good and the server seemed inconvenienced to have to wait on us. It was an expensive meal that was a huge disappointment. We won’t go there again for New Year’s Eve.

We were in town for a conference and had planned to go to The Green Gateau, but online had incorrectly listed it as closed for the evening, so we went to Dish. This was the best mistake ever. The food at Dish is an experience. The blending of various flavors keep you interested in the food. Your palate never gets board. I had the kale salad as an app without the salmon. It was fantastic. The short ribs which were amazing. My colleague ordered the the dry rub salmon. It was hard to decide which was better. We loved the food so much, we came back a second night. The only area that might need improvement I think is there desert menu. I found it very one dimensional as compared to the main courses. For the third night we eventually made it to the Green Gateau. You can read my review for that restaurant, but it was disappointing and I'm so glad we went to Dish twice.

Beet, carrots, and raisin salad small plate finished with walnut sauce and date dressing! Perfectly seared scallops! Harissa chicken skewers with dill couscous! Every dish was perfectly cooked and beautifully presented.

This is by far and away one of the best restaurants in town... or anywhere for that matter! It's an artisanal eatery where there is a pleasant surprise in every bite. Our meal was average and over priced. The mussels appetizer was delicious but the seafood crustini was a not. The seafood mousse was bland and the crustini were oily and did not taste good. For our entrees, my wife got the braised short ribs and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. I would recommend them. My son got the steak which was cooked well and tasted great. I got the scallops which were average. The odd part is all of the sides seemed like they were an after thought and most were cold. Both of the purees (pea and cauliflower) were bland and the charred green beans has a gassy flavor due to method of cooking. The maple carrots were not maple at all and again cold. The potato and kale side my don had was just plain not tasty at all and cold. The one side that you order seperate was a beet and chevre dish. It was delicious

The dish is a special place for my wife and I - our first date and a wonderfully romantic venue that has seen ups and downs through the years. Thankfully it's in a time of Up. Couple of standouts: Jessica did a fantastic job behind bar and keeping service constant. The mussels were cooked perfectly which seems to be a rarity now a days. The scallops were excellent with a lardon/cauliflower puree that deftly balanced against the bright citrus of the arugala. It's nice to see this restaurant flourishing and if the high occupancy on a Monday night is any indication, it's reputation is positive.

Not having visited the restaurant in several years, I wasn't surprised to find a whole new menu with several new features. I will note that the feel of the restaurant seemed to be a bit more "uppity" than in the past, but it wasn't offputting. I believe we surprised the staff by bringing a one year old to dinner with us. They were able to accommodate us with a high chair and our server did a great job navigating toys around the table. Unfortunately, there really weren't any "basic" options for a toddler, but we were able to order the gnocchi small plate to come out early. The food was nothing short of wonderful. I had the large plate Salmon and it was cooked to perfection. I will certainly come back to this restaurant, but I would advise that it's not the most child friendly option in town.
