This Restaurant belongs to the category of Pancake restaurant.
Service was less than ideal but the food was good. We've always had good service in The past but this time it was not great. We'll go back again ,and hope things are better next time.
Delicious, quick breakfast. The hashbrowns were probably some of the best I have had. Very crispy. Delicious, plentiful coffee. Monika was our server and was very quick, even though the place was quite busy.
Fast, very friendly service. Never ending cup of coffee that also never saw the cup empty. Plenty of food at reasonable prices. Kids all loved the hot chocolate, the pancakes were large but not obscenely huge as some places offer. Showed up mid morning on Sunday expecting to wait and were seated immediately. Definitely plan to return before we leave the area.
Place was busy as hell, but we still got seated within ten minutes. Waitress immediately poured me a cup of coffee as soon as we sat down, and set down a pitcher of water. Took our order very quickly. The menu had lots of options, but also not overwhelming. Appeared to have some decent healthy and/or vegetarian options. Food took a while to come out, but our waitress kept the coffee topped off while we waited, big ups to her. The food was exceptional. I got the eggs Benedict, while my wife got some bacon eggs and toast. The English muffin was crispy, the eggs poached perfectly, and the hash browns were lightly crisp and very tasty. Exceeded all expectations. Toast was buttery and warm yet still super crispy. Very generous portions. Waitress even gave me a cup of coffee to go. Total bill ended up under 30 dollars still. Definitely recommend this place to anyone.
Service was less than ideal but the food was good. We've always had good service in The past but this time it was not great. We'll go back again ,and hope things are better next time.
Best breakfast in town! We had the steak and eggs and the nontraditional french toast with banana walnut bread with a side of the bone in ham steak. The steak and eggs was to be expected, no frills there. The french toast was soooooo good, it comes with huckleberry syrup! The bread itself was good, add in the converting it into french toast and damn you got yourself the perfect dish. The side of ham steak was a thick cut and delicious. The pricing here is very affordable too!
Delicious pancakes and very friendly service.
Cozy. Good comfort food, plenty of options (omellettes, pancakes, steaks, etc). Constantly flowing coffee. Gets pretty busy. Our waitress was a bit grumpy. I felt judged for wanting to order carbs with my carbs. But it didn't take away from the experience.
Really good food and friendly staff.
Great food and experience. It's a must do around Yellowstone.
A very cool and rustic breakfast place. Must rry their pancakes with 2 special syrups. amazing value for money.
I, for one, love a good family diner. This place was outstanding. One of my kids ordered pancakes and they were bear head shaped! I enjoyed my club sandwich and chips. It was walking distance from our hotel. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious.
Delicious, quick breakfast. The hashbrowns were probably some of the best I have had. Very crispy. Delicious, plentiful coffee. Monika was our server and was very quick, even though the place was quite busy.
Enjoyed breakfast, french toast was great, wish I had room to enjoy a cinnamon roll as I heard they are amazing. Customer service was spot on!
Great customer service. Barely walked in and the hostess was ready to seat us with a smile. Great food. Kept coffee cup filled. Great homemade salsa! Will be back.
Great service, and very friendly staff. The food all tasted good and we hot and fresh. They are kind and helpful. The menu is comprehensive and they have something for everyone, including a vegetarian option (but why would you want that?). We got the Grizzly Bear breakfast which was a chicken-fried Salisbury steak, smothered in gravy, with eggs and home-made hashbrowns. The Seafood Benedict was delicious. The only downside is that they said it has crab meat but it’s not crab, it’s clearly “k-rab” meat. It’s a little on the pricey side but on-par with everything else in West Yellowstone, and other places aren’t as good.
Kelly and the staff are second to none! Best breakfast in West Yellowstone. The biscuits and gravy are delicious!
This is a good place. Been there a few times.
Great food. Fast service!
Great breakfast place. Waits can be too long but that is okay. Food quality is prime.
Muffins are boneyard dry & not worth the cost, but the pancakes and veggie omelet are good! Service is fairly fast too!
Great service, good prices, delicious plentiful food. Boysenberry syrup is a must try!
Ask for Hashbrowns Crispy and you'll get a PERFECT mix of soft potato and some crispy ones. Only place in town to eat breakfast...I mean, there's other places...but GO HERE
Breakfast tasted good, was not served hot, eggs were almost cold. Service friendly.
Very good food & quick, pleasant service. A little pricey, but to be expected in a tourist town.
Excellent food very friendly Staff
Try the Rainbow Trout for breakfast ! Local fish, delicious!! Our waitress was very nice! Thank you for the recommendation Cinthya!
Holy cow the chicken fried steak was the best I’ve ever had. I wish this place was in my hometown. If you like a nice big man’s breakfast for a big day- get the chicken fried steak! Obviously I’m a huge fan.
Very yummy breakfast. Owner and staff are great. Buckwheat pancakes are very good.
Great place for breakfast, very friendly staff.
One of the best breakfast places I've ever eaten at. Their chicken fried steak is bomb.
Great food and great service!
Great food, friendly staff and quick service.
They have got super delicious pancakes. AlSo one pancake is big enough for a heavy breakfast! We visited this place during peak holiday time and their was a wait for 20 mins. On a usual weekend it’s preeety busy. But the service is fast and place is bit noisy due to crowd but overall a must go place for breakfast
Fast service and big portions, did not like the biscuits and gravy
Ate breakfast here several times during our stay and the food and service were always very good.
So I don't take this lightly as many if the places out here from Salt Lake to Bozeman are great. But, the trout and eggs here were really the best breakfast I had. Not saying that there aren't other opinions and that I did not have other good breakfast plates. However, this was a home run and I hope you enjoy!!
Great food and great service. Lots of comfort food. Great selection.
Didn't have crazy high expectations but everything was delicious. Everything we needed for our last lunch in Yellowstone. The trout was also delicious.
Fast, very friendly service. Never ending cup of coffee that also never saw the cup empty. Plenty of food at reasonable prices. Kids all loved the hot chocolate, the pancakes were large but not obscenely huge as some places offer. Showed up …
Very popular breakfast place and a family tradition. The waitress forgot half of our order, but that doesn't usually happen.
Very good service, wide selection of breakfast options
We loved it ! Awesome choices and huge portions... definitely coming again!
This place is good. We had good food. I will admit I had better. I ordered the traditional French toast and that is all you get for your money, just French toast, instead of a traditional breakfast with eggs or hash browns on the side. I had to do a separate order if I wanted anything with it. Despite that, the service was good and the food was good.
Always the best breakfast ever!
Good food and reasonable price.
We really enjoyed eating at this restaurant for breakfast before entering Yellowstone. The menu had a great selection of traditional breakfast and lunch items but, also had specialty plates. I had the trout and eggs breakfast plate and it was perfect fuel for a long morning hike in Yellowstone. The place was really busy but we were sat down right away and got our food quickly. We were very pleased with the service and food.
Place was busy as hell, but we still got seated within ten minutes. Waitress immediately poured me a cup of coffee as soon as we sat down, and set down a pitcher of water. Took our order very quickly. The menu had lots of options, but also …
Ate there 4 times in 4 days for breakfast. French toast, pan cakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon. All were quite tasty. Great service.
Food was good, service is super friendly, a bit slow due to how busy they always are
May be a bit buzzy but well worth the wait. The food is excellent.
Looked wonderful. Crowded very long wait. The place is popular. I really can't rate food, wait was so long we went elsewhere. But so popular must be good.
Breakfast stop for us and it was fantastic. A very cosy establishment that made you feel like you were in a stereotypical grandmothers dining room. The smell of coffee and pancakes just made you feel content. Staff were quick to assist in any way they could and the food came out in good time. Love this place.
The best tasting pancakes I have ever tasted in my life
Good food good prices great staff
Amazing offer and amazing crew..thanks for all..
This place was poppin’ when we arrived. There was a wait time and after eating there I know why. The place inside has lots of tables too. The help was super friendly and the restrooms were kept neat and orderly. The food was so goooood! I had buckwheat pancakes with real maple syrup. They were gone in about a 90 seconds. The fish and eggs were prepared excellently. Wish they had one of these where I live. Don’t miss out on the gem. Come hungry leave full and very satisfied.
Fantastic. Even better than I remembered from the 80s and early 90s on our snowmobile trips !
We started coming to running bear on our first trip to Yellowstone in 2016. And we come back to visit every year for our annual family trip. The cinnamon roll pancakes are amazing!
Nice restaurant with plenty of options on the menu for everyone. Definitely recommend visiting this restaurant in West Yellowstone.
having enough cold buffet in hotel? this is the place you should come! warm welcome, hot food, great service!
Super crowded, but the food was good and it was a nice place to visit.
Came here on Memorial day morning. The place was hopping but we were still seated quickly. The Hot chocolate was delicious. I got the morning glory and it was great. The kids got the cinnamon roll pancakes and I tasted those and they were also amazing.
Food and service were good but nothing extraordinary. The four of us had an array of breakfast dishes served by an average waitress: bacon, eggs, pancakes. Sausage gravy is severely lacking in the sausage department so was not well received. Spend your meal money wisely when on vacation in West Yellowstone.
Great service, and food was great as well.
Great food. Fun atmosphere
Very nice establishment, prompt service and follow up. Be aware the pancakes aren't your usual chain restaurant size, they are huge and cover the whole plate.
This place is definitely packed! Be sure you plan for enough time to get seated and served. Even though they were incredibly busy, we still got in and out within an hour. Waitress was super nice, and the atmosphere is very kid friendly. Picture is of the meatless breakfast skillet. Such a great deal, and very filling!
This place was amazing!!! The food was excellent and the waitress was attentive; refilling coffee non-stop! We had breakfast here 2 mornings and both were busy, but the food got to us quickly and everything we had was delicious.
Excellent breakfast and fast, pleasant service. Cinnamon roll might be the best I’ve ever had.
Super yummy. Their hot chocolate is so cool! You have to get it to see
Looked wonderful. Crowded very long wait. The place is popular. I really can't rate food, wait was so long we went elsewhere. But so popular must be good.
Food was good. service was bit late but friendly staff.!
Worst biscuits and gravy ever. Waitress made a rude comment about me when we left. Would give - stars if possible.
Love this place for breakfast. Great food with lots of choices.
Amazing breakfast, my husband said he had the best hashbrowns of his life. His new nickname is now White Dove.
Great food and you wont leave hungry. Reasonable prices as well. Great service. I would have taken pictures of the food but it was gone too fast! Definitely will eat here again during our stay in the area as this was our first day!
Very good food[. Good portions. Service at first to seat us was slow. Server was attentive and efficient. Recommend.
Great people awesome breakfast a must if your in West Yellowstone Montana
Awesome Staff! Food Delicious!
Great local diner with amazing food. Removed one star solely for the espresso (I ordered a vanilla mocha and got a plain latte.)
The is place I had breakfast for all 3 days of my trip. The pancakes and eggs are just amazing. The overload breakfast did most certainly help is sustaining the trip.
The food was very good especially the syrup that they give for the pancakes are delicious...
Great food, friendly staff. Stop in for some great pancakes and some other good stuff too
Great service and great breakfast. Go here. It's away from the center of town.
Great food. Right next to a laudrymat if you are looking to kill two birds....
Very good food and a nice variety for a pancake house.
Breakfast stop for us and it was fantastic. A very cosy establishment that made you feel like you were in a stereotypical grandmothers dining room. The smell of coffee and pancakes just made you feel content. Staff were quick to assist in any way they could and the food came out in good time. Love this place.
Great food, great service.
I will be running to the running Bear breakfast next time I am in West Yellowstone. I recommend the Spanish omelette and the hot chocolate is absolutely to die for with the whip cream and sprinkles of chocolate. BUT...Service is sub-par.
Really busy but a wonderful breakfast
This is the second time Feel like I got food poisoning I'm not going back .
Best place in West Yellowstone to get breakfast. Very friendly staff.
Waiter was good and attentive even though the place was busy. Food, pretty sure I got food poisoning. Left feeling I had a good meal( vegetable omelet), by noon my stomach was a mess, later in that evening the flood gates were open. I had nothing else to eat the rest of the day due to the nauseating feeling. Now on day two still not much better. Prices were a bit high as well.
We enjoyed our visit here. The food was fresh and plentiful. The server was very friendly. Fortunately not a long way as we went early in the morning. It was just a little bit pricey, but that is about what I would expect for a resort area.
They have a great breakfast selection. Our party of 8 all have different tastes and everyone ordered a dish they loved. The service was wonderful as well!
Good brunch place.. fast service. Kids loved the food. Very fresh and tasty. Loved the coffee, which is default no charge.
Coffee is good. Pancakes are great and service is speedy. Great breakfast place and they open early at 6 am. They offer box lunches and homemade bread and muffins to-go as well.
The restaurant was a recommendation from someone my husband knew. I believed it was worth visiting after reading the reviews. We were quickly seated and a drink order was taken for juice and coffee. The friendly waitress came back to take our order and we never saw her again until she tried to put a receipt on our table and ask how everything was when we had not even eaten yet. We explained to her that we were still waiting for our food while others that sat down after us had already been served. Our order apparently was never input or got lost almost 45 mins after sitting down our food came to the table. My husbands french toast was cold and had to be sent back. I ordered scrambled eggs with fresh fruit. My scrambled eggs were not scrambled, but looked more like a stomped on omelet. It took forever for supervisor to come to the table. After this experience they took $2.00 off the meal ! Stop at Ernies Bakery the service is better!
My favorites are the Mama Bear add strawberries and the citrus salmon salad! Delicious
Not a great place. Prices are high $3.25 for a huckleberry (non alcoholic) lemonade. They only have 3 omelettes on their menu, then you can build your own for a pricey amount per item. Then let's just say that I make a larger omelett at home. The hash browns were cold. The wait for our food was long and it wasn't that busy. One of those places that gouges for sure. Thumbs down. We are here all summer, but will not be returning to eat here.
Must be a popular place but it was so full we decided to find another restaurant for breakfast.
One of most liked breakfast spots in West Yellowstone and it doesn't disappoint when it comes to the staples, eggs and pancakes. However not a place to try avocado toast, guess I should have known better than to expect anything other lousily put together pieces of toast, avocado and tomatoes in Montana where Buffalo and beef are on the plate for pretty much every meal. Experienced some discrepancy between the online menu and in restaurant one so do keep that in mind.
Local favorite.
The Running Bear Pancake House is packed. Be sure to get there early! The menu could use some updating, but everything on it is pretty good. The servers are really nice but they could use a few more servers as the ones we had during our visits had a hard time keeping up with their tables. Would recommend them for breakfast!
Love this dinner. Visited twice. Look for the bear in the ceiling
Healthy portions...excellent service
Great stage and food bit the AC was running like crazy
Best place for breakfast in West. Sometimes a queue in the high season, but always worth the wait
Stopped here for breakfast. Omelet came out cold and very watery. Bacon was cold, tough and I believe, it had been cooked hours earlier. I should have read the lowest score reviews on this restaurant before our visit. We will not be stopping here again.
Loved everything we got there for breakfast this morning.
Very good food and friendly service.
The service was great and the food was excellent! They have some different menu items than other breakfast type places that are very good as well. I recommend Running Bear Pancake House and will likely return when I am back in the area.
Fast service and great food. What more can you ask for?
Great food. Cool bear atmosphere. Good prices.
A great place for breakfast and lunch. Nice friendly staff and owner.
The service was excellent or we wouldn't have waited so long for our food. The cooks took a break or something.
Good food.. we ate breakfast here!!!
Very good food and extremely friendly staff! Best place around for breakfast.
They have a great breakfast selection. Our party of 8 all have different tastes and everyone ordered a dish they loved. The service was wonderful as well!
Really busy in the summer so the service is slow, but the food was great and the waiters were apologetic and helpful
Fast service, andgreat food.
Pretty tasty breakfast. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes. About the same quality as the Cheesecake Factory. The huckleberry syrup is runny but incredibly sweet and delicious. Highly recommend it. Best breakfast I had while in West Yellowstone.
Great food and wonderful service. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner all day.
Everything was absolutely wonderful!! Place is clean, orderly..atmosphere very inviting. Service...thanks to Brian..was outstanding..he's very accommodating and very polite. If we're in the area in the future we will make it a point to visit here again. We live just outside of Reno, NV so it may unfortunately be a while.but we won't forget it!
Great local spot. Always support local businesses.
Excellent breakfast and great service. Eggs Benedict were superb.
Their breakfast is really good and the prices are decent, for the location. Our server was a little rude, and it was a little slow getting our food.
Their pancakes are amazing. Extremely fluffy and not dense at all. They get pretty busy but if you go by 8am then it's not bad at all. Probably the best place for pancakes in town.
A cute place, that feels like an old-school diner. Friendly service, the coffee pot that's bubbling non-stop, and the nice, casual atmosphere. We were seated fast, and waiters were friendly and efficient. I chose the non-traditional French toast, which they made from apple-pecan loaf (also other options available). A solid portion that's the right amount of filling, and quite delicious. The menu is extensive, but slightly pricey. That seems to come with the area that's a bit more remote, judging by other places as well. You get good bang for your buck though. I left well-fed and well-caffeinated.
Great food. Waitress was awesome. Very friendly people
Love this place. Large eggs. Pancakes with boysenberry syrup, yum. Service was fantastic.
Staff was great! Super friendly. Food was good. Typical breakfast food. Cinnamon roll pancakes were great and bacon was just how we like it!
I ask an extra plate and they charge me 2 dollars. They are not polite to give a receipt when I asked for this. Just throw it to the table.
Great food but don't be in a hurry...
Great little diner. I had the banana walnut french toast and it was very good. Quick service with reasonable prices.
One of my favorite places in West Yellowstone. The food is delicious, the coffee is wonderful, and the staff are always so kind. Feels like a wonderful local family restaurant.
Consistent year after year. Best breakfast in town.
Great food in a very homie environment. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the food was great
In Yellowstone city. Has good food, good service, friendly people, and fair pricing.
We at breakfast at this place 2 days out of the the 4 days we were at West Yellowstone this week. Overall this is a good food option in the little town. Nothing fancy but a solid option. Their pancakes are probably the best thing on the menu. The first day my girlfriend got the Chicken fried steak and really enjoyed it. I got the standard sausage eggs hash browns and toast. It was pretty good. The highlight was the buttermilk pancakes with boysenberry syrup. The coffee was good too. The second day the service was a bit slow. The food was good but I did not like the bacon. Again, the pancakes were great! Will go back for breakfast again next time we visit Yellowstone.
Great little diner. I had the banana walnut french toast and it was very good. Quick service with reasonable prices.
The cinnamon role pancake is great and the eggs are good.
Good place to have Breakfast
Food was great! Our server, Cinthya, was so sweet and very attentive!
I don't usually write reviews, but this place was WONDERFUL! Food was amazing, coffee was fresh, service was so sweet, friendly, and fast! Amazing pancakes and omelets!
Good food and service in a tourist area. A great find
Sat there for 20 minutes. No one came to take a drink order. No one cane to take the food order. The 2 waitresses walked past us multiple time's for everyone else's checks and food. Waiting 20 minutes just for a food order is unacceptable. Never have felt more unwelcomed in a restaurant before.
Food and service were excellent.
Loved the pancakes, and orange juice.
The rainbow trout breakfast was delicious i will be coming back
Cute and busy. Food was great but not allergy friendly.
Excellent food and people. No matter how busy they are. Great breakfast spot.
Ate here twice. Food and folks are great!
Very friendly service and a few unusual breakfast choices such as local trout. Kids enjoyed being able to have a burger and fish and chips on their menu. Avocado toast was a nice veggie option too. Bit of a line for the restroom but at least they were unisex.
Really great breakfast! Ate here when my family left to come home. A great way to start a morning!
Rustic look with great pictures. Great portions, great food.
Best breakfast in town, as such, very busy place so wait can be long. Many menu selections, vegan too. Cordon bleu skillet a plus!
Quick, attentive service; generous portions of yummy food! Food is mildly spiced, but pepper and sauces available.
Great service, great food
Bad coffee, service wasn’t very friendly and food felt artificial and didn’t taste great (I asked for eggs benedict, which I usually have all around the world, and they were not good).
Very nice service, good atmosphere and food
According to kids best bacon and hot chocolate they've ever tasted. Fast and kind service. Homemade muffins are really good. The sooner you arrive the better, gets crowded easily
Get that boisonberry (idk how to spell it, whatever lol) syrup, beat stuff on Earth.
Good service and pancakes were very good. Prices area bout what you'd expect from a tourist destination. I docked one star because my daughter found a hair in her food.
Great food and service, bathrooms were clean. Prices were on par for the area. Room was a bit noisy, not sure that's fixable though.
We had breakfast here while we were at Yellowstone. Good food and good service.
