This Restaurant is classified in the category of Pan-Asian restaurant.
Such a great place to enjoy some good asian food. We had the coolest display of desserts by Sophia. You can tell she really enjoyed doing it.
Love this spot. General Mustard Halibut is highly recommended. Food always prepared fresh to order, staff always friendly and attentive. Can be a little noisy so if you have hearing issues like me, ask for a booth. In the Mall so easy access.
Good food. However, if you advertise as an oriental establishment, and serve food to be eaten with chop sticks, the food should be served in bite sized pieces. Apparently someone forget to tell the chef.
Restaurant was nicely designed with beautiful slate and wood interior. Bar is nice, with tv's. Waitress was pleasant. The dynamite shrimp appetizer was ok. Wok fried beef mushroom bowl was good but rice was crunchy. We asked for new rice which was better. Overall, the meal was just okay, not fantastic.
Even Better than I remember a couple of years ago
Food was great. Fresh ingredients and excellent flavors.
The Mustard Seed is great for lunch or dinner. The food is relatively healthy, super delicious, and something different in this town. The service is fast and friendly and the facility is clean and nicely decorated. I am pretty sure they have had the same bar tender for 20 years, so I imagine he knows what he is doing although I usually go for lunch so I have not tested him. They deliver, but on a schedule, so that is not always convienient.
They were terribly busy, but the wait staff was pleasant, friendly & helpful. Our dinner came in a reasonable time even though the waitress apologized for it taking awhile. Everything was very tasty!
I have eatin at the Mustard seed many times & always loved it but this last time for Father’s Day it was not good, the food. Service girl was very nice & did very well but the Szechuan Beef was horrible tasting! It didn’t have any of the red peppers in it that make it what it’s always been. They must have changed the recipe or something, nothing like it used to be. Very disappointed!!! Very blah!!! Won’t be back
The food is really good; however, the customer service we have received every time we have eaten here has been fantastic!!
We've been eating at the Mustard Seed for decades now, and it never disappoints. It's maybe not the best Asian food I've ever had, but it's always good, always plentiful and always served quickly.
Wanted to have delivery 40 mins before closing and web site said the stoped deliver at 830 and put me on hold just so they didn't have to deliver
Noodles and veggies are the best quick meal!
Usually really great food and friendly service. We did have a small issue that we hope was just an anomaly. They forgot our order for a large party we were having. We ordered well in advance and they were apologetic. However that was after the first person was trying to blame us for the mix-up. We hope it was just a one time thing.
Even packed with customers, service is great and down with a smile. The desserts wonderful. Always too full so purchase one to go.
The food is amazing, only critique is that we waited 50min for our food.
Tasty food. Very good for the area. I got the lunch Maui bowl. Rather wished more chicken and less rice, but that's probably my fault for not ordering a larger portion. Very attentive staff, everyone liked their meals. Great spot!
Ive yet to have anything here I haven't liked. Every flavor is amazing. Try the coconut shrimp with plum sauce!
Good food to have a casino and it's attached to the mall
Good food, friendly staff but a little pricey.
There's this awesome bartender that makes great drinks there. As for the food, I'd recommend the green beans for the appetizer. I hear the wings are delicious as well. Would highly recommend.
Good Asian style food and atmosphere for nice dining experience at a reasonable price
What was the big hype about this place??? Lousy food!!!! everything had a burnt taste to it!!! And having shredded carrots in every dishes tells the quality of the kitchen!!!!
Very good service, prices a bit high but close to average. Serving size was big. Food fell flat for its origin when it came to flavor. Not what we were expecting. I'm disappointed that I brought my mom here for her birthday dinner.
I love this restaurant, every time I come over to Missoula I try and make it a point to eat here. This time it was late, and I understand that the staff wanted to get out of there, but the waitress was kind of trying to get rid of us.
Pretty good food the noodles were missing the sear flavor that usually occurs from constant reduction on the wok. The meat and vegetables and resulting juices we're very tasty. The staff is prompt and professional.
One of my favorites
Great service, always great food.
Great take on asain inspired dishes
Good food great drinks pleasant atmosphere
Super good food
Our waitress was patient, friendly and super helpful.... Loved the decor and our food was delicious :)
Good food and service. But I fell on the floor when I stepped off the booth's raised floor.
My daughter and I just had an early dinner here and it was very good. Are server was Hannah and she did an excellent job. Hope to come back sooner.
The good: The spicy caramel ginger chicken is amazing. The seasoned rice is flavored just right, much better than plain. The service was professional and friendly. The sushi was double the thickness of regular sushi and decent flavor but wasn't worth the price. The bad: The cashew chicken was bland and literally had two cashews in it and four peanuts. I don't remember the menu mentioning peanuts in the dish... The waitress brought me out some extra, and it also was a mix of mostly peanuts, very few cashews. That isn't ok and needs to be fixed, especially at these prices. My daughter's chicken/noodle dish was extremely bland, worse than mine.
Always excellent
very nice service, terrible food, inaccurate menu.
Great experience!!! Our server, Emily i think her name was did an incredible job, was super personable and diligent! We'll definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend.
Holy smokes this place is delicious
Great service and delicious food and drinks.
5 star always very good
Great food and service! Great happy hour apps too!
Good food, convenient location. I love the chicken osaka.
I have always loved the Mustard Seed and the location in mall is a perf refreshment spot, libations and delish food! The staff is always friendly and professional as well, big plus!!
Nice atmosphere and server. No spice or flavor in the food though. Best part of the meal was the spicy yellow mustard.
Thank you Mustard Seed for donating gift cards to the Shriner"s for there event.
Food and service was good
It’s a great place to go. We go there often friendly and fast service and is worth the money. It’s one of the nicer places to go in Missoula and eat. Just an overall wonderful place and a great place to meet up with anyone and you can go shopping in the mall
Favorite Asian cuisine by far. I've never been disappointed. The best food and service.
Wonderful meal. So delicious. Good service. Fantastic desserts. They need to expand the Gulten Free menu. Really like the French Press loose leaf green tea. Delicious.
Was pretty good...good size portions but a little expensive but worth it every now and then.
The Sweet and Sour Pork was delisious! Excellent service and friendly waitress! Every time I've eaten here it's been a great experience!
Great food and service
I have been eating at Mustard Seed in the mall since high school. It’s always dependable for food quality and flavor. I’ve never had any issues with food or staff. 4.5 stars. Fireworks chicken is hands down my all time favorite in Missoula! The lunch bowls are perfectly sized. If they don’t offer those at night, they should. The green beans app is crazy good. A little pricey for apps though. The desserts are all great. I’ve never had a bad meal here. The restaurant itself is a little loud and can feel cramped if you’re not in a booth. Speaking of which, those things are tiiiight!
Things started out okay. It was a bit busy being dinnertime, our waitress, Raina, forgot to take a drink order. Its busy, I understand, but then she dissapeared for half of our meal, which two meals were room temperature, and barely showed up when we wanted to order dessert. We had to flag down another waitress so she could send ours over to us. During the whole time she kept interrupting us as we were talking and/or asking questions, and at the end she gave us a paper takeout box, that you would put rice or noodles in, for a three layer cake that we hadn't finished and wanted to take home. She got huffy, and when she brought back a flatter box for the cake she said thank you sarcastically and left before we could say anything.
We were very disappointed in our service today. We were forgotten about after getting our drinks, we waited and eventually went and asked to be served, food came and we were never checked on to make sure things were okay or offered drink refills, then had to find someone to be able to pay the bill. It wasn't busy. Not sure I will ever go back. The only reason I gave 2 stars is bc the food was good!
Consistent with good food and good service. Great selection of Lake Missoula teas, desserts made in house, and my personal favorite the Seared Ahi Salad shown here
Great service and delicious food.
Asian fusion restaurant with great food. One of my favorites.
really great food, dessert, and service. very nice interior as well and reasonably priced.
The food is really good. Huge portions!
The food was very good. The steak Singapore was delicious. Brown rice was even good. MacKenzie was very good.
Mustard seed is always wonderful! We sat at the bar for happy hour, the bartender was fantastic. We will be back!
I got the sweet and sour dish. I don't think that's what it was called though... They had a fancy name for it. The chicken was drenched in sauce and was way to sweet for my liking. Over all the food was OK. The seasoned and sauced up asperagus was amazing.
Food and service were excellent. Hard to improve on.
Ordered delivery. Lettuce cups were good but we only got 4 peices of lettuce. Chicken Osaka flavor was good but chicken was dry and had very little sauce.
Great atmosphere and very nice full bar. Food is top notch. Friendly and prompt staff.
Shrimp Ginza is awesome! The service is wonderful and the whole restaurant is spotless! I go there every time I go to Missoula
One of my favorites in Missoula. Outstanding food, great customer service and very nice atmosphere. Not many options for Asian food, but this place is a homerun!
If your hours say til 2115 but you stop taking orders more than 45 minutes prior, then that information should be posted on your website.
This restaurant has the very best happy hour around, best prices and great food. Really! And for dinner, the portions of tasty well prepared entrees at fair prices brings me back time after time. Just today we were served by a great waiter too, so, to me, that covers all the bases.
Very tasty, nice portions, good service, good prices.
It was good but they no longer have my lemon chicken, which bums me out. They dont have cream brulee for dessert either.
We went for the desserts and they didn't disappoint!! Alot of variety and they use alot of local ingredients which I appreciate.
Never been disappointed here. Fast service and good food.
Very good service. Food a bit more American than asian but still good.
They has so many options here and their food is always incredibly tasty!
3/11/2018 ... Went in for a nibble after the MTC show "39 Steps". Waitress was Melina - super lady ... funny/friendly/on-top-of-game as a terrific wait person. Couldn't ask for better service or food! That's why I keep going back... I felt relaxed and at home! In a word - takes more than one - satisfied comes to mind.
Wonderful customer service! Food and spirits so very wonderful. Definitely our go to!
Chicken Osaka is so amazing.
Food was tasty but cold...Luke warm.
Amazing food and a great friendly staff
Food is mediocre, at best, for the price, they don't know the difference between a spring roll and an egg roll, sweet and sour sauce was HORRIBLE, if you're going to act pompous and rude to the customer, at LEAST you could be GOOD at what you do...
The desserts here are absolutely amazing and the staff is very helpful and kind
Not authentically Asian, in my opinion. But still one of the best restaurants in Missoula. These guys have been consistent for many, many years.
Great food! The wonton soup rocks.
Family favorite, although home delivery times are sporadic. With more than an hour between (ie. I ordered food at 6:50, but the next delivery goes out at 8:10). I mean the food is worth the wait, but I'm HUNGRY!
Consistently a family favorite. Incredible happy hour menu and great drinks!
My new husband and I went there to celebrate our recent marriage. We sat at the bar, had to wait awhile to get served, then the bartender slipped my grapefruit basil martini so that it was only half full when I got it. He never cleaned up or apologized. Our food came pretty quick, but the spring roll was cold, limp and oily. I took one nibble and left the rest. The pork was good but the wings were smothered in sauce..a lot of sauce. Our bartender hardly looked at us. We waved him down to order another cocktail. A double vodka soda. It tasted like just soda water, we asked him about it.. he said it was a double but the other bartender made it. We had to ask him to check with the one who made it and sure enough, it was a single. He didn't offer to fix it or anything. We politely asked him to make it to order. We've been here so many times, so hopefully, this was a fluke. I was considering using the MS to cater my sons' wedding reception but now I'm not so sure. Oh, and I've left a message on your contact page already a few weeks ago. No one has contacted me yet!
THE best restaurant. The appetizers, the entrees, the dessert, it's AMAZING! Currently, I live in CA, and I would fly to Missoula just for this restaurant lol. If you go to the mall for food and don't go to this restaurant, you're the craziest person to walk this planet.
Love this place
Great food and great service. Highly recommend for nice place to go for lunch or dinner
I have been eating here for years and have nothing bad to say! There was one incident about a week ago where the wrong food was delivered and they corrected it immediately! Great service, friendly staff, AND ASIAN GLAZED PORK RIBS OH MY!!! I would recommend them to anyone!
The service was very good and friendly that is y I always come to mustard seed
The best Asian cuisine in the Missoula area! Our family loves the Osaka sauce.
Love this place!!! Great food. Good service and value for the money
We ordered the potsticker appetizers, which were pretty tasty. My husband got a side salad, and was disappointed to find the lettuce was just iceberg lettuce mix from Sysco. It was very wet and the lettuce was soggy. I ordered what I thought was miso soup (I asked the waitress if it was Miso soup & she said yes) and it was more like noodle soup. There was no tofu, no seaweed. It was noodles & green onions - It tasted good, but it was not what I was expecting. I got the California Chinese Salad. It was really awful. The lettuce was once again the soggy, wet ice-berg mix from Sysco. Also, when I got to the end of the salad, I bit down on something so crunchy, it made me gag and I had to go to the bathroom to spit it out, it felt like biting into an egg shell. I examined my salad and found various pieces of uncooked noodle (it looked like maybe glass noodle or something)!! That was VERY unappetizing and I ended up not finishing my salad. The saving grace is the dessert - we had the cheesecake of the week and it was really delicious. When they charge $11-$15 for a salad, I expect a little nicer lettuce than the same ice-berg mix I get from a dive-bars $3.95 side salad.
Sevice was awsome food is amazing even my most picky eater found stuff he loved
Good babes
It was PAINFUL! The service was so slow and that was after a 1hour wait to be seated. After we placed our orders it took forever for our food to arrive the staff were really nice and apologized for the wait. The food was average. Nothing to rave about.
I’m pretty sure they don’t know Asian cuisine or have anyone working there who understands the food. I ordered a pad Thai and orange chicken last night, and there was no flavor?! The pad Thai was the worst I’ve had in Missoula. PAGODA is way better! AUTHENTIC THAI/ASIAN CUISINE. The Mustard Seed is a joke!
We always go here during happy hour and have dim sum at the bar. Excellent food and service
Overpriced American Chinese food
The Mustard Seed has been one of my favorites in Missoula ever since they opened decades ago. Except for an occasional slip, the consistency of the food and service is excellent. Try the ginger halibut and the margaritas!
I ordered two "small plates" and did not particularly enjoy my dinner. The actual filling and dipping sauce for the pork wontons were good but there was probably less than a teaspoon of filling in each one and the rest of it was thick dry wonton wrapper. The Chinese roast pork didn't really taste like much of anything. That said, I loved my dessert (mango cheesecake). My server was also very nice although I didn't her often since there were several large groups.
Expensive but the closest thing to good Asian food you can get on this side of town. The desert menu is amazing! They always have new things. The almond chicken is my go to.
My favorite place to eat
The food was good the help was kind of rough
Friendly and timely staff, great environment. Feels like a pleasant escape from the hustle and bustle of the mall and traffic, fair prices and plenty of sit-down seating for large groups or solo travelers.
Just barely adequate. It would be 1 star but I haven’t gotten food poisoning from them so that’s what makes up the 2nd star which is an exceptionally low bar. The food was Incredibly bland and overpriced and this is probably our 5th try with them. They deliver which is nice but ramen noodles would have tasted better and wouldn’t have had a $40 price tag.
The food is delicious!!!!! Great wait staff and very friendly!
I travel to China often for work, sometimes several times a month. I've not found better Chinese/Asian fusion cuisine in the US than the Mustard Seed. Take for instance, their Sweet and Sour dishes... most "American Chinese" sweet and sour dishes use a ubiquitous 'Red Sticky Sweet' sauce, so sweet it causes your pancreas to cry foul in three bites. Not so at Mustard Seed: their S&S sauce is *not* industrial red in color, it's a golden color, sweet but not overwhelmingly so. It's light enough to allow the flavor of the meat (shrimp, pork, chicken) to actually be a player in the recipe. And it's delicious. The signature dishes (in my opinion) at Mustard Seed seem to be the Green Bean appetizer and the Osaka Chicken or Osaka Shrimp. The green beans are flash fried in peanut oil, best I can tell, and sauteed in a soy/ginger/chili glaze that is light and delicious. I would prefer a little spicier, and next time I'll ask if it can be done with a little more kick. The Osaka dishes are your choice of basic protein, cooked and served with a tangy citrus/lemon honey sauce that is one of the best sauces I've had for chicken, in all honesty. Again, as with most all Mustard Seed dishes, the sauces are light, not heavy, and do not overwhelm... but are delicious. In my travels, though Asia, I've had a lot of great Asian food, and Mustard Seed is as good as anything I've had in Beijing or in Shanghai, and light years ahead of anything I've had in the states. It's crazy to think the best asian cuisine I've had in the US is in Missoula, Montana! I'm looking forward to trying more of the menu in the future. Well done, Mustard Seed, Missoula MT!
Delicious food!!! Always a favorite place to visit when in Missoula!!
The food was good. We had a variety of food. All was enjoyed. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Went here for a quaint bday dinner and the service was terrible. It was such a disapointment when the wait staff was completely disrespectful and rude. Will never visit again!
Prices were reasonable, in the $$ range. Food and service was good. Nothing spectacular, but good.
I'm sorry to say....but if you think mustard seed food is good.....you don't know asian food vary well.......Everytime I ate there it's been really disappointing......I won't go back there again!
Great food, great service, no complaints
Very good some of the sauces were overly sweet though
Good atmosphere.
Attached to the mall. A good spot to grab some excellent food or have a drink at the full bar.
Great food!!! Best Asian food in Montana.
One of my favorite restaurants in Missoula. They never fail to disappoint. Great food, great service and all around excellent place to eat! Love, love, love their Almond Chicken, Green Bean Appetizer and Shrimp Bowl in Peanut Sauce.
Great food, good service, amazing desserts
Excellent service, outstanding food and overall a very positive dining experience!
Great food, pricing is a little steep though, service is amazing here though and they also have amazing desserts.
Great lunch. Loved it.
Best Asian food in Missoula.
The food is really good and all the dishes don't taste the same. However the prices are kind of steep for the amount of food you get especially when you're supposed to share it with others. All in all good food though.
Worst shrimp fried rice I have ever had. The rice is soupy, not actually fried. It looks like a stir fry that they added rice to at the last minute. And it tastes like salt water, it is so salty! The shrimp itself is beautifully cooked. And I have no problems with the portion size. The service is great. So there's that. Will not be returning on further visits to Missoula.
It was ok ,was disappointed thought kids ate for free At least that's what was advertised but we got charged anyway
Really good fried rice I could eat it all day long
This restaurant is very expensive. Also, the food was not as good compared to previous visits. I do not recommend it.
The most amazing variety of desserts!
Enjoy the food.
Great Place, one of Missoula's best. Management is great too, they listen to customer feedback and take action. Hopefully some other places around town get busy taking some notes..
One of my favorites. Nice atmosphere and consistently really good food.
Ive always had good food here and love having either the beef noodle bowl or the fireworks chicken. The decor is nice and dim giving it a calm feeling.
Delicious food and great service!
Mustard Seed staff were extremely helpful and attentive. Drinks and food were tasty and generous, especially during happy hour. For a fun time I would recommend the Mustard Seed.
Went there for my birthday with my kids and grandkids. The food was great and so was the service.
Just wow. An amazing selection with a twist of asianic food. Everything on the menu priced accordingly since the flavor of the food is practically going to put your taste buds into a coma. The dessert menu...just try it.
Always my favorite when I come to Missoula.
Fast service and medioker food.. rice was dry
Spicy Chicken Peanut Bowl is tremendous. Tender meat and loaded with woodear mushrooms and red bell peppers. Service was terrific, too.
Great food and friendly staff.
Was quite happy they had a vegetarian menu
Just a northlander passing through, and I have to say this is some of the tastiest food I've had in a good while! Highly recommended.
