If you are in Bozeman you have got to eat here. Absolutely phenomenal. Busy, yes, but there's a reason why. The menu is wonderful and everything I ordered was outstanding. This place is almost always packed, but there is a reason for that. The food is great and the drinks are good. It is a nice busy but happy atmosphere. Don't go here if you want to eat in a quiet setting. But if you are looking for a night out on the town to hang out with friends or meet some happy energetic people this is the place to go. Their spinach dip is fantastic!

My obviously intelligent sister-in-law heard I would be traveling thru Bozeman, MT going back home to Boise and told me I had to eat at Montana Ale Works. On Thursday night my brother and I went over to Main St to check it out and it was packed. We got in line with a promised 25 minute wait time and but was seated in 22. We ordered fish'n'chips and a rib eye steak. The food was perfect. Our waiter was a fountain of info about Bozemen. The atmosphere was just plain FUN! Can't wait to come back to eat here again. 11 outta 10 rating

I say at the bar and requested a special order to go. The bar keep as accommodating, friendly, and made certain my beer glass was filled as k wanted for my to-go order, which came pretty fast. Sort of. My service at the bar as closer to superior. The kitchen staff was having coming issues, although I might point out that they had absolutely zero quality issues. My food was bangin'. I'd go back in a heartbeat to sit at the bar & eat.

June 1 - June 7 We spent 6 days in the Yellowstone National Park where our eating out experience at 4 different restaurants (different meals throughout the day) was abysmal. It was even hard to keep a glass of water filled. Once we arrived at Bozeman we thought things would be better, but our lunch stop at a "nice" restaurant on Main St yielded the same experience. Our last eating out experience was at Montana Ale Works where we were lucky enough to find 2 seats at the bar during a busy Friday night dinner rush. The team of bartenders and bar backs were great! The drink options and food recommendations by our bartender were great! I never once saw them chit chatting with one and other and were very attentive to all of the bar patrons. Our last night of vacation was saved. Thank you!!!!

First night in Bozeman and ended up at the Ale Works. Gotta say, blah. The Schnitzel was thick and gristley. The flavor of it was off. The truffle fries were straight awful. They were under cooked and the flavor was overwhelming. My friend had a wagyu hamburger that was just okay and our server was unprofessional. There are tons of good places to eat in Bozeman. Don’t pick this place.

Also, shout out to Tom for the warm welcome and AMAZING service. We ordered the bison burger, fish and chips, and the bison pot stickers- all of which we would order again. Stopped in at Ale Works and we were blown away! Right from the start our waiter Andrew greeted us and was incredibly friendly and clearly has a passion for what he does. When ordering he went above and beyond to help us through the menu, his suggestions did not disappoint! The FOOD WAS AMAZING. Service was fast and the food was hot and delicious. I had the BEST schnitzel and German potato salad I've ever had. 10/10 will come back !!!

The Kobe beef is well cooked and delicious, just remember to order the one not under burger menu. The wagyu one under burger menu made it has no special comparing with other meat. So if you want to try Kobe one, just order the fresh cooked one instead of made from grand beef. There are many craft beer in the menu and ale beer also has light one here.

This is a cool place to grab a drink. We tried a flight and our 3 choices were good. My boyfriend ordered a bison burger, which he said was great. I got the mac and cheese and it was okay. The brownie dessert was delicious. Definitely a neat place to check out in Bozeman!

Awesome service (as always). I had the French onion soup which was okay. It was middle of the road. Really salty and all the bread and cheese was on the side and baked together. I think it was just a special way of preparing the bread and cheese but it was not very good. Any other meal I've had here has been delicious. Drinks are good as well.

Well worth the visit, one we will definitely come back to when in Bozeman. FOOD: 8/10. The Bison Birger was fresh, clean, and tasted so good that putting sauce on it would be a disservice. The Meatloaf was decent, but a little salty for my taste... ATMOSPHERE: 10/10. Industrial, open, old train station. I also liked that they have outdoor seating. PRICE: 7/10. Not the cheapest place around, but I feel like you get what you pay for here. Portion size might be difficult to share. SERVICE: 6/10. Nice, but nothing to write home about.

We went here on the recommendation of a Bozeman local and it did not disappoint. It is a local brewery/restaurant that is located in an old train station. It a huge restaurant with tons of seating. And it was packed! And well worth the wait, which was only a few minutes. We ordered the spinach appetizer and it was amazing. We also ordered the Ale Works meatloaf which was amazing, probably the best I have ever had. And we also ordered the grilled halibut special. It was okay. There is a menu for kids and a large liquor menu, which is their main feature. There is also an area for billiards. It was a really amazing place to go in Bozeman and we will return if ever in the area again.

Went here with reservations for 20 people. They took forever to get us seated. When our 7 year old tried to order the Mac n cheese, she was denied because it wasn’t a kiddie menu item. They gave her a chance of pasta with marina sauce or Parmesan cheese. Neither did she like. For the cost of the food, the amount of wait even with reservations (they didn’t get us seated together) a child who does not want weird food should be able to get Mac n cheese.

A popular spot with the locals and college crowd, it's not a quiet place, parking can be a competitive event, and there's typically a wait to be seated - but the food, atmosphere and service make it a worthwhile experience. Easily among Bozeman's best!

This is an excellent restaurant that is a favorite for the quality of food. The one flaw-a major flaw-is that you never know when they will close the kitchen. There have been numerous times where we have arrived well before the closing of the kitchen-such as tonight where we arrived at 9:21pm-only to find the kitchen closed despite the advertised time of 10pm. Having a slower evening in terms of number of patrons is not an excuse. I can understand weather, sickness or maintenance issues as viable excuses for an early closure, but not a slow night. There is a sense of responsibility to the public if you advertise specific hours that is obviously missing at Montana Ale Works. This has occurred enough that it is time to let others know. It is very important for any potential patron to call well ahead and ensure that the kitchen will be open-although I suspect that won’t guarantee anything by the time you arrive. We drive 30 minutes to get to town so this should be a concern for anyone that has a lengthy drive. This is unfortunate because the restaurant is very good at many other things, but closing on a whim is an extreme disservice to its patrons.

Overpriced food for the portion sizes. The jambalaya was OK. It didn't have everything as advertised in the menu and for $17 you would think it would have been on point. Took an hour to get our food. Overall was not impressed and everything was overpriced.

Being from Belgium and spending our last couple of nights in the Bozeman area, we first found this Bar/Restaurant through Tripadvisor as looking for a place where they served good steaks. So we checked it out. What a great lively place with a very nice buzz to it. Foodwise : I had a ribeye steak with mashed potatoes and fresh veggies which was SUBLIME!! The 14 oz. steak was cooked to perfection (rare) and was so tender - probably the BEST ribeye I've ever tasted! Mashed, garlic potatoes and veggies tasted delicious. My hubby had the "Meat (steak) & Fish (Trout)" combo which was delicious aswell. We were seated in a booth in the 'Train compartment' which was really nice. Our waiter was top of the bill aswell and like I told him : our experience and food was worth an A+++++!!

The place was super hot it felt like we were inside an oven. The food was 50/50 mine was inedible and my husband's was great. They did not replace my food, so I didn't get to eat. The wait staff was subpar at best. We got a tasting flight of beer and none of them were labeled and she ended up giving us two of one and one of another but didn't tell us which ones were what. Overall I would not go back.

A hundred stars!! This place is amazing. The food isIncredible, and the service is top notch. I was in Bozeman for seven or eight days and ate here almost every night. Everything I had was so flavorful and well prepared. Their mac & cheese with grilled chicken was the best thing I had. The menu Has a lot of variety and something for just about everyone. The beer and the spirit selections are incredible. This place is very crowded every night of the week because it’s so good, and you will probably have to wait 20 or 30 minutes but it’s definitely worth it. It’s definitely a favorite place for all the locals,and it’s extremely family-friendly. The restaurant itself has so much character as it was an old train station.

Delectables I have tried that I thoroughly enjoyed: the halibut, the trout, the mountain grain bowl, and EVERY dessert, not to mention the fresh drafts and even the water, all were perfection. I WILL continue returning as often as possible. Laid back atmosphere, you can shoot pool, mingle with friends/locals, even purchase a souvenir... hey, do yourself a favor; give yourself an unforgettable gift and show up to Montana Ale Works... you'll understand what I'm talking about.

The food was great and the drinks were excellent. The reason why this place lost two stars from me though is customer service. After waiting over 30 minutes on a table for a party of 5, we are taken to a 4 person table. Right next to us, a party of 4 had recently sat down at a table for 5-6 people. We walked by at least two tables that hold 6 as well. I asked the server if we could have a larger table as I knew sticking a chair at the end would solve seating but not space once food and drink came. She said that the party of 4 just sat themselves at the table that was supposed to be ours. I inquired about the open tables and her response was the empty larger tables were reserved for parties that had not arrived. What I don't understand is why not move the party of 4 that self seated themselves as nothing was delivered to them yet. Or why not give us a larger table. By the time the other parties arrived, the 4 would be almost done or we would be almost done. I'm sure once seated this affected my mood and the server picked up on it. But rather than be warm, he just went through motions with us. Not rude or disrespectful but not welcoming either. I'm sure this is normally a great place but I have to rate based on experience.

I went back here again 3rd time in one week HH had good drinks. Had the Shepherds Pie ...I will say this is the best I ever had amazingly good taste and nice large portion came with a small leaf salad on plate amazing pic attached. I had the jambalaya lots of shrimp fish and sausage amazing as well and pic attached. Willhead back again next week before e had back to Florida

Only complaint is that it is always busy! But that is because the staff is excellent. There is such a variety on their menus! And they say they get most of their produce locally! How cool is that!? We love going here but with our family sometimes it is easier to order and pickup- that is never an issue!

Excellent food with excellent service in a great location. We ended up coming here twice during our stay because the first time was so good. Burgers were cooked just to our liking and the toppings were unique but delicious. The parm-pepper fries are to die for!

Friday night, peak dinner hour so I guess it's my fault. Ordered $40 Filet Medium, and the Blue Wagu Burger medium to go. With an appetizer of Frites.. Both steak and burger were well done and NO flavor. Awful. Wont do that again. I'll try dining in next time.
