First let me say I've taken road trips just for restaurants. I've worked in the restaurant industry when I was younger. This is a top notch restaurant with a detail oriented staff. Although it's a little spendy, I guess you pay for what you get. Definitely my favorite restaurant in Montana not just Billings.

The week I went there I really didn't like there food, but that's not saying that they are not a good little restaurant. There's only a few dishes on the menu but that's not a bad thing it switches each week and another thing is that it's a nice looking and nice feeling place. Just the food was different than what I am used too.

A truly good restaurant that would be at home in any large city. Everything is house made and the menu is comprised of clever new american plates. The focus here is meat, with every piece of steak, chicken, and sausage being served with excellently prepared sides. Not to mention the service!!

Lilac in one word: "hip" a great wine selection is accompanied by locally sourced ingridients to compliment the french fusion inspired menu. I would highly recommend this place for a special occasion, or getting brunch to cure your weekend-end woes. Did I mention that they have Earl Grey Ice cream? What a time to be alive.

My wife and I stopped for desert after being snubbed at the montana sky in the plaza. Our desert and decaff coffee were so good we decided to make reservations for the sunday brunch and what a good choice that was. We can't wait to go back and have dinner.

The atmosphere was so peaceful and pleasant to eat dinner. Very nice waitress and waiter. And with it being my first visit, I got braised short ribs which were amazing. And for dessert I got the toffee bread pudding which was also very delicious. Spendy but it was worth it.

We walked in at 9:15 pm after being turned away from another establishment that was supposed to be open until 10 pm. Ava and Tom were very welcoming and made us forget about how upset we were about being turned away before. The food was amazing and wine recommendation superbere! I’m so happy we got turned away because Lilac was an amazing place to eat at! And again, Ava and Tom were very personable and we will be back!

Every dish is composed with the upmost care and quality; everything beautifully balanced and paired with delicious high quality wines. Server, Brian, was an absolute delight and made the experience all that much better. Seriously not that expensive for the experience you get and the complex flavors. This is any foodies paradise, thank you chef for a beautiful meal!

Lilac provides a great dining experience. Friendly and flexible staff who are eager to work with food allergies, although our server seemed unfamiliar with allergy details of the menu off the top of his head. The food tasted delicious. I have an extra tender duck filet; each bite was savored.

This was an amazing meal. Don't be shy about the complexity listed on the menu, you can't go wrong with your choice. The pork chop was the favorite, with top marks going to the creamed corn, risotto, and flank steak. Simple, light, and incredibly flavorful. Don't miss this stop.

My new favorite place to eat in Billings! The food is absolutely amazing, 5 star quality without the exorbitant prices. The open kitchen ensures that the chef's at Lilac are as professional and also fun to watch. The menu changes by the season, and while it is difficult, save some of your entre for leftovers because desert is to die for. Also a great wine selection! I just wish they were open on Mondays,

I took a chance on carrot cake french toast that enchanted my taste buds. This place deserves to be a destination for anyone who is receptive to fine dining. My family and I were taking expedition from Chicago to a fabulous ranch near Yellowstone (Nine Quarter Circle Ranch). Groggy we stumbled out of the car with big appetites and expecting a nice lunch place. 'Nice' does not even begin to cover the ambiance this place emits. When peering at the menu I was intrigued by their unique spin on classic dishes. A white tablecloth experience that one would expect from Venice or Paris. Dessert disappeared into thin air leaving behind morsels and gorgeous purple flower garnishes that, before consumption, reflected the creativity of the culinary artist that produced it. We received a delectable delicious strawberry dish and a cinnamon sugar confection. Honestly the best dining experience in Montana.

I tried Lilac two times and that will be enough for me. I can only describe my service as strange. I am not usually one to complain about prices, but this restaurant is extremely overpriced for what it is, which is just very basic food. Two stars because they had a decent wine selection. There are many other places I'd rather spend my dollar.

I promised myself I wouldn't cry while writing this but I don't know if that's possible. I still wake up in the middle if the night thinking about the meal I ate here and its been almost three weeks. I try to distance myself from the thoughts by using alcohol and some, a little, very little, drugs but it's not working. if I do return for another taste will my days shrunk into mere moments, will I find myself transported back to where we left off? Confucius once said "He who exercises government by means of his virtue may be compared to the north polar star, which keeps its place and all the stars turn towards it." That line always confuses me and makes me thing of this line from Elmo "Have fun kids". I will return but I will be a stronger stranger and have a better job. See you soon.

Few years back this was what I considered the be the finest restaurant in Billings. Food was exciting and delicious. The staff fired up, very creative and eager to please. Now is seems they have hit a rut and the food is dull and kinda boring, also way too salty. C'mon guys where is that old magic?

This place... Holy cow.... Incredible food. They have a brie ice cream that is as delicious as it is unique. I challenge you to save room. Gnocchi and polenta dishes were both full of flavor. Service was friendly and personable. Highly recommended.

Have been here a few times and always enjoyed the menu and food. I appreciate the owner's sourcing food that is fresh and unique. This place is for people that really enjoy every step in eating out. If you have family members like mine, that only like to go out if someone else is picking up the check, this might not be for you. Brunch on Sunday was great.Came here with my friend a few years ago and haven't stopped since. This place is a classy dining experience with top notch customer service. Billings has very few options of nice dining but this is one of them. 5 stars!

Very unique for Billings. Most local restaurants are dull and very unoriginal, not Lilac though. Everything is perfection! If your use to big city originality this is the place for you. Never had a bad meal . Even when the dish sounds just ok , I order it and I am utterly impressed. Good job guys!

I travel for work often so I like to find unusual or interesting local places to eat. Lilac certainly fits the bill. Atmosphere was beautiful and light. The waitstaff was superb (and easy on the eyes). The pork belly ravioli is the only reason I gave Lilac 4 stars. The ravioli was served in a pear and ginger dashi that was way too acidic to enjoy. Needed a more savory dashi to enjoy the apple and pear garnish. The dessert was the highlight of my trip! The Sassafras Financier was absolutely heavenly. Perfectly well balanced and delicious. Overall, I recommend this restaurant if you're in the area.

This was the best restaurant we went to in BIllings! The food was great and so was their service. We really loved the creamed corn and the beer options. We did not make reservations but could see them being necessary on the weekend. The menu was well thought out and had a wide variety of choices. I had the rib and gnocchi entree which was very good.

Overpriced. The fries were the only thing worth eating. But nothing is worth the price. I'm all for fresh ingredients and progressive menus but as my husband says, it's kind of like a polished turd.

The staff was great. The wine selection was great. The menu was simple as it should be for a locally focused fine dining establishment. The specials (wahoo filet and Duck ((separate dishes))) were presented nicely and garnished appropriately. (dined on 10/16/2014). We also had a cheese plate. My fish was dangerously close to being over cooked, but it was crisp on the outside and still moist on the inside... only 1/8th of the uneven filet was questionable-- chef either exceptionally talented or very lucky... based on the creative deserts I would lean towards talent. They are American cuisine, but would sure like to see what they could do on a wellington...
