The “Iron Horse” offers off-street parking, great bar flair, incredible views of Yellowstone River & sunsets, optional indoor or outdoor seating (with L-shaped bar seating) & efficient service. Go somewhere else!! This place had the worst service I’ve ever had at any restaurant. The waitress had brown hair and really sharp features and was horrible at her job. Unfortunately we had a large group so she automatically got a tip she didn’t deserve. The food was just ok. The menu was not what was online. My husband that is usually happy anywhere even mentioned the service and food not being what was expected. There is no heat so we were cold, especially our 2 little kids. I’m just so disappointed that we stopped here and wasted our money. They definitely have a don’t care attitude here.

Fries with the Bison burger were great! The burger was ok. The service was kind, but forgetful. The location had a great porch looking or on the Yellowstone river. It is a bar with a single page menu. Eclectic decor with oils signs from many different areas as well as stores or brands. It seems to be a local icon and an older establishment. Bathrooms are male and female meant for single person use right next to the host's table. Women's has two toilets but no dividers, lock the door.

Most excellent food with eclectic decor. Wide open bar on the inside and outside deck seating as well. Wife was bummed they ran out of trout but she really liked her rib eye. I had Thai spicy wings that were delish. Everyone was friendly. A place that a lot of locals go to.

Not the best service! Would have given more stars if the customer service was better. When we walked in wasn't greeted or told how to get ur name in to get a table even though there was an employee standing there. Noticed others getting seated that where there after us. When I questioned the employee standing there she asked if we put our name down. I was like no we've been standing here waiting for u to greet us and direct us, she constantly looked right at us so she new we where there. She gave a look of irritation. Asked our names. This happened to 3 other customers while we waited. Finally seated the service never got better. Food was good though so that helped.

Went in for a nice meal and asked for wifi password and the staff refused to give it out. We didn't stay. What business today won't allow customers free wifi? Especially in an area where service is spotty for most people! Iron Horse sucks!

The drink was good and the service was okay. The BBQ ribs reminded me of the beef jerky I had earlier in the day. The only difference was my beef jerky wasn’t crunchy. The pulled pork had almost no flavor and the flavor I could detect was spit into a napkin. Not sure where the good reviews are coming from. Maybe we ordered wrong but if it’s on the menu do it right.

Iron Horse bar and grill is a really cool and eclectic spot. Usually pretty busy, they have a lot of seating and sometimes there can be a wait, but it's worth it. Prices are pretty decent and portions are big, but the food is delicious. They have a good selection of drinks as well, and even a little area with games. Definitely worth a stop since it's only a few minutes outside the north gate of Yellowstone.

Overlooking the Gardiner river this place bustles in the summer. Inexpensive (strong) well drinks and great comfort food. The shepard pie was delish along with my gin/tonic. The sun was setting and out back on the large deck afforded us a wonderful view and a cooling breeze. The help were great and a fine way to cap off a day in Yellowstone

The staff forgot about us after we were seated, but they made up for it with free drinks! Cool decor and friendly staff. The food is typical bar food with a Yellowstone twist (Bison & Elk burgers), but tasted great. The fries are amazing. Also, a great selection of beers from local breweries.

Great view, good food! Deck is right next to the river, excellent view over dinner and drinks. Smaller menu but all our entrees were tasty. Service was quick for our party and hostess was friendly. My ribeye was cooked to perfection, mash potatoes were fresh and tasty.

We used to eat here all the time and really liked this place. This time we felt that the food was overpriced and not very good. The menu is also really limited. Pretty disappointing, as the atmosphere and location are pretty awesome.

My self & two sons had great meals, drinks & outstanding service 3 times in 14 days while camping in Norris campground in Yellowstone. Everything we ordered was cooked to our specifications & was perfectly seasoned. Now about the slice of chocolate cake... I do not like chocolate unless it's a small amount, However the cake we ordered was FANTASTIC! By far the best chocolate cake from a restaurant I have ever tasted. Every time I go back to Yellowstone National Park or any where near this restaurant, I WILL STOP & EAT HERE! THANK YOU IRON HORSE BAR & GRILL!

Great restaurant with available indoor and outdoor seating. Didn't have the most welcoming of first impressions as we waited for over 5 minutes to be greeted. We asked for outdoor seating, which there clearly was, and was told everything was taken. Indoor seating felt hot with lack or air circulation. After settling in, the food made up for the service and is delicious! We came back again two days after and the service was much better all around.

You will be surprised by the lively interior. This place has lots of character. Good food and drinks. Definatly recommend this place. Both inside and outside seating, games area and wheelchair access. Sit outside on the deck with a drink and watch the river flow past.

Try their bison sirloin or trout pate! It's a bit pricey, but probably the best item on the menu. I tried the trout pate, elk burger and elk meatloaf. All were pretty good, meatloaf was my least favorite but I generally don't enjoy meatloaf. Prices are high but to be expected in a tourist town. The bison sirloin is pretty small (8 oz) but flavorful and different than a beef sirloin. The gravy/sauce on top was also pretty salty but tasted good. The potatoes that come with most entrees are pretty good, and hefty portion to fill you up. Their "best elk burger" in Montana was good, but not amazing in my opinion. The outside looks outputting, like a rusting warehouse with vintage signs but the inside is nice and modern. I wish there was more seating inside, there is more outside but it was too hot and bright the day I went. Service was nice and my overall experience was pleasant. A pretty decent place to try some elk or bison. Definitely worth a try!

Just a mediocre bar and restaurant with barely acceptable food. It rates 4.8 on Google which speaks volumes for this uninviting town. It may be better than all the other eating places in town which says it all. It may be a gateway to Yellowstone National park, and you may have to come through town, as we did as we did, but don't stop, keep moving.

Super nice restaurant right on the river! Have a huckleberry margarita to try, not the best I've ever tasted but when in the west it's a must try. Also have various elk/bison options to try. Outside seating is very nice and has a great view. Pretty big place and inside is decked out with all kinds of Western themed decorations!

An interesting restaurant tucked out of the way in an alley. REALLY good food. I had the elk burger and huckleberry margarita. Both were delicious. We had a group of 17 people and all were satisfied with their food. The service and atmosphere were awesome. Definitely worth the stop!

Pricey! $16 burger was burnt on outside and runny raw on the inside. $14 grilled chicken sandwich was so burnt had to send it back bc all I tasted was burnt char. I swear it’s the gross char that is from when a grill isn’t cleaned. It was gross. They remade it and the chicken was better not burnt black all over.. but still tasted like burnt char from the grill. Not the tasty char. All and all wasn’t worth $$.

I’m not sure where people got the great looking food in previous reviews. We were shown a 1 page menu, very basic. Burgers over cooked, bison burger undercooked in middle & burnt on outside. Fries & chicken fingers from a freezer bag. NO hot drinks... seriously. Not a tasty meal. interesting to look at.

A bar with good service and an outside balcony seating section overlooking the river. It was you call and cold for us when we were there, but I imagine it'll be a pretty nice spot during sunset on a warm summer night. The interior decor is pretty crazy with a bunch of random items. The food was good and the drinks all seemed reasonably priced.

My wife and i ate here twice over 2 nights. That's how much we like the food here: simple good American grill with non pretentious good service. We had the bison sirloin, trout, grilled pork chops and baby back ribs. The steak, ribs and pork porks were nicely charred, the whipped potatoes and corn were good to be eaten on their own. I will go back there to eat it again if I was staying in Gardiner for 1 more night. N bison taste better than beef.

I ate here with a friend. It is a bar and grill with a warehouse feel overlooking the Yellowstone River. The bar is well-stocked, offering beer, wine, and liquor. You can eat inside or outside on the patio. I enjoyed the elk nachos, and my friend enjoyed coconut shrimp. We both enjoyed our food!

The server was great - when he came up to seat us we mentioned how hot it was today and he promptly brought ice water to the table without a request. The food was good (elk burger + elk meatloaf), the beer was cold, and I like their take on a shandy (light beer + lemonade). Just one note: it was quite hot in the restaurant. They do have outdoor seating with table umbrellas but we chose not to sit outside because the sun was out in full force. The back door was open and allowed an occasional breeze but it only helped so much.
