Ordered my food at 3pm, eagerly waited for my mouthwatering curry for 4 hours only for them to cancel my order AFTER I paid. The reason for the cancellation was because I'd get it too late, which is incomprehensible considering I ordered it at 3:00. I'm going to Panda Express instead.

The food and staff here are amazing! There is a huge selection of options for meat eaters, vegetarians, and vegans. The meat is extremely tender and each dish can be made as spicy as you would like! Fantastic food. In fact, it's the best authentic Indian food I've ever had in a restaurant -- in and out of state. The naan can take longer to come out because they make it fresh on the tandoor, but it's sooo worth it. This place isn't your typical Indian restaurant with highly overpriced items that slightly resemble the real thing. No, this is a local restaurant ran by a husband-wife team that makes the food "home-style" with generous portions. They've come a long way since they first opened and Curry Express has now become one of the Valley's best kept secrets.

I visited this restaurant on July 6 around 7:30 PM with five of my other friends in the middle of our trip from the Yellowstone NP to the Glacier NP. We are from Bangladesh, so we know very well about the Indian and South Indian cooking style. As soon as we walked into the restaurant, we understood that it was far below the standard of an average cuisine. They say it is a self-service restaurant. We are okay with that, but what about the floor? It wasn't clean at all and we could feel the bottom our shoes getting glued to the floor! And the Air Conditioning wasn't working! It was really hot outside, and inside was even hotter and humid. I again remind you that we are from Indian subcontinent and we are very aware of the humidity. So we asked about this and the lady told us that the AC isn't working and as it is around the 4th of July, they have shortage of staffs. The way to the restroom is inside and through the kitchen, and the kitchen isn't even close to the standard! One of my friends used the restroom though, she said it was clean. So we sat down and were looking at the menus, meanwhile an Indian family of 8 came inside and they left after a while after watching the condition of the restaurant. Feeling too hot, we went outside and sat on the outside table. We ordered a few items such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Biriyani, Lamb items with Garlic Naan and Yellow rice. There wasn't enough cutlery on the counter, and those weren't clean! Even the plates which were served by the lady weren't clean. She exchanged two of them upon request. After 50 minutes of ordering the menu, most of the foods were served. But the Chicken Biriyani never arrived. The gentleman confessed eventually that because of the shortage of cooks, they can't meet the demands of the people at Friday night. Anyway, so we spent more than 70 minutes at the restaurant and took our foods in to-go boxes. One of my friends actually vomited four hours later in the car. I don't want to say that the food was unhygienic, but as an Asian I can ensure that they add too much food color in each of their food items, and the taste is below average. I understand that near Bozeman, there isn't enough Indian restaurants and barely any competition. But if you come from the Washington D.C., New York, or even Utah, you would know that this restaurant is severely lacking the quality and only concentrating on earning profit. I see a lot of 5-star reviews and I request people to properly assess a restaurant in every aspect. May be the restaurant was bad only at that day, but seriously if you can't mop the floor, and your AC isn't working in summer, you should keep it close for the day!

Came for lunch. My first time here. I had no idea what I ate today. The items in the buffet were all delicious, but it would be so nice if there were little signs next to each food to identify it. Especially the vegetarian items. The hostess was so nice and gave my friend a complimentary mango smoothie as it was her birthday today. I am looking forward to coming here again. Sorry I only had $1 to leave in the tip jar.

I don't know what is going on here. I have gotten some great food and service in the past, but hopefully today is just a really big off-day for them. I went earlier and they were open, but no food was available and no one came out to greet us or get our order. We sat for nearly 30 minutes, smelling delicious scents and enjoying the music when someone came from the back and apologized but said the owners hadn't shown up so they couldn't operate yet. Then when driving by this afternoon, I noticed the open sign was on and the place was lit up so I tried again. This time the door was locked, with no notice on the door.

Curry Express is fantastic. Do yourself a favor, don't just stop short at the lunch counter options, dive on into the full menu. All their dishes are so robust, Chicken malabaar is a favorite. And to the weirdo complaining in another review that the naan came out 10 minutes after the food, what the heck? You couldn't figure out that is because they make it to order!? I prefer it that way, thanks, freshness is definitely worth the wait.

They knocked the Tikka masala and butter chicken out of the park tonight. The food is generally amazing. The only flaw I've run into is that sometimes they aren't open when they should be. But, they are a husband and wife team, with kids, in a valley where it's not easy to keep staff. Belgrade needs good food places like this.

Probably some of the most authentic Indian food in the valley. Their setup was kinda weird though. You stand up and order at their register, yet it is a sit-down restaurant. When you finish eating you pay up-front. Probably would make more sense if someone came out and took your order instead of crowding the limited space upfront. The other issue I had was their menu itself. It is four pages long and filled front to back. Unless you know what you are ordering ahead of time, the menu is complicated to navigate. They used to have 4 or 5 different "combo meals" where you could mix and match for a flat rate. Not anymore. I would still recommend them since their service is friendly and the food is phenomenal.

Went there for lunch today. I explained that I had never been there. The employee pointed and said, "menus are over there" in a very unpleasant tone, and then disappeared. Once I decided what I wanted to order, I walked up to the counter, he was just standing there behind the blockade, did not acknowledge me, so I sat down and waited. He never came over. Dirty dishes on most of the tables, and all tables needed to be wiped down. Lunch buffet looked horrible too. I just walked out. Terrible customer service, and very dirty.

Very strange place! Was not greeted by anyone and sat down with large party of 6 people ready to spend some money on dinner. Waited for 15 minutes and nobody greeted us. Went up to counter to find out what was going on and nobody was helpful. Would not recommend!

Excellent buffet and even better curry! All you can eat curry dishes for 10 bucks! WhAaa!?! There are a few comments downplaying the atmosphere, likely from people looking for the trendy or cookie-cutter experience. As far as mom-and-pop authentic cuisines go, Curry Express is killing it. Their restaraunt is a welcome treat for any who’ve traveled abroad and expect authentic.

Absolutely awesome curry. Lamb and chicken as well as other options! Huge portions (one chicken marsala is enough for two if you get the bread!) Really good food!!! Order ahead and pick it up! You will not be disappointed! Be sure to tip!

The chai was good though. The table next to us had the same problem, heard them ask 3 times for rice and the rest of their order too. Overall, great food, poor service.

Having lived with an Indian host family for 3 months in New Zealand, I've eaten A LOT of Indian cuisine. This place is legit. They have a really good deal for a lunch buffet to (M-F, $10). I think their menu prices are just a tad expensive for what you get. If their entrees came with some naan bread, that would make the prices worth it. I will keep eating here, but not as frequently as I wish I could afford.

The chicken tikka masala really tasted just like fish curry. The food did not appear to be fresh and had no quality at all. The environment was not clean and the staff did not seem to be too friendly. I think that the other customers gave them good reviews considering that this may be the only Indian restaurant in this area.

Phenomenal food, and I love that they give vegetarian food pride of place. They also have excellent vegan options. But there are lots of options for people who eat animals as well. It's a great place for takeout. They are very prompt. The only shortfall is the atmosphere, which is charming in the front, but if you are stuck in the back, you will have a less than lovely view of buckets and dirty dishes. Pakeezah in Bozeman is the same restaurant as Curry Express with more attention paid to ambiance. They are both run by the same people. Both have amazing food with lots of variety. The only difference is atmosphere. I highly recommend both - Curry Express for takeout and Pakeeza for dining in.

So much potential, but very poorly executed. I ate here several times a month their first year, the food was awesome. There would always be a problem with the naan though, they would bring it like 10 minutes after we began eating. Kind of strange. Then they opened the location at the mall and things really went down hill from there. It seemed they were spreading themselves too thin and the owners just lost sight of putting out a quality product. If they had closed the Belgrade location and just focused on the spot at the mall, it would have crushed. I wish them all the best, but I was burned one too many times by bad food and terrible service to justify making the trip out to Belgrade.

So happy the Bozeman area has this fantastic and delicious food option! I love Indian food and was thrilled to learn about Curry Express' existence. My kids and I love take-out, and ordering via the EatStreet app is a breeze. My kids absolutely love the fragrant rice, and the sauces are tasty enough to eat with a spoon. Meat is like butter - do watch for bones in some of the dishes as the meat falls right off. Vegetarian meals are hearty and filling and worth trying, even if you're more a carnivore (like us). I've ordered several different dishes at a time because we love to try a bit of everything and share entrées, and have been happy with each one. Owners and staff are always helpful and pack our meals with care. Plan to be a repeat customer for years to come.

Many thanks for a taste of authentic (at least as close as we get on the continent) Indian food. Vegan options were great for my (freak) brother from the coast. I typically order off the app and it's fast and easy to pick-up. Friendly service. I don't need any more bread in my life but the Naan is great. Ignore the haters. Tried Curry Express for the first time today, for their lunch buffet. At 12:30 pm, the selections were cold to warm (not hot) and very limited (4-5). No jasmine (white) rice or naan. As for taste, hard to distinguish among the choices...one may have been an attempt at chicken ma'sala. Very dimly lit, and the floors and tables dirty and sticky...the worse! The naan did arrive later and it seemed underbaked. I can say that this was the poorest Indian cuisine experience I've ever had.

Our experience in this restaurant was horrible when we went to this restaurant this summer on our way to the Glacier National Park. The air conditioner wasn’t working. So we decided to sit outside in the hot weather of summer. Stinky floor also contributed to this decision. We had to wait for about an hour in hot weather for food to arrive. Totally unprofessional. We were shocked to see dirty plates after the long wait. We literally returned a few plates for being dirty. The worst part was the food itself. Everything was red colored - too much food colors. We didn’t like the taste at all. One of our friends literally vomited within an hour of the dinner. I can’t say enough to describe how bad the experience was.
