We didn’t have a reservation but the hostess was able to accommodate us. We like sharing our meals so we ordered two appetizers, a salad, and a pasta. Each item was spaced properly and presented beautifully. Our service was impeccable. Every detail, from refilling waters, to fresh silverware between courses, to appropriate interactions. Our favorite course was the grilled calamari. We will be back!

I was really hoping for more from this place. If Bourdain had gone here, it must not be too bad, right? Well, we finally bit the bullet and reserved ourselves a table online, anxious to try a steak or pasta from the menu. Arriving about twenty minutes early, they were still able to seat us. That was a plus, but it foreshadowed the fact that not many people were dining there anyway. When our waitress showed up, she had asked if we have ever dined on a Prix Fix night. What is this Prix Fix? Apparently it's a night where they serve a five course meal and the regular menu is unavailable. Okay, I wish we would have known beforehand that our meal would be determined for us. Nowhere online, on their website or Facebook page, does it say anything about this Prix Fix. We decided to stay and try our luck, anyway. Bad idea. Every single course was sour beyond belief. Two days later and my tongue still hurts. The first course was a smoked salmon gnocchi with a tart lemon sauce, the second was a tart rhubarb soup with goat cheese and almonds (absolutely terrible), the third a crab salad with a manchego cracker and tart vinaigrette (the most edible of the five), a shrimp and scallop main course with a tart chili sauce, and finally a tart strawberry lemon sorbet for dessert. I almost wonder if they had to use up a bag of Sour Patch Kids. I would have forgiven the lack of notice about the Prix Fix had the food been decent. Aside from the soup, it really wasn't terrible. It just wasn't really that good. And, nothing on the Prix Fix was anything we'd ever order off a regular menu. I guess the saving grace that allows for two stars was the service and a somewhat reasonable price of $35/person. It's just too bad we had to spend more on a second dinner since the portions were so small.

If you don’t like food don’t bother. This is seriously culinary art at its finest. Creative dishes prepared after ordering. I’m currently nursing a food coma I don’t regret.

Large prices, small food. Ceasar salad was three leaves of lettuce, a slice of lemon, two peices of toasted bread and a dribble of dressing = $7.

Kevin Grastorf

Amazing food!

The food is great, cocktails, beers and wine lists are extensive and the service is very friendly and welcoming.

Renee AMATO

Amazing food!!!

The food quality has gone down. The noise and ability to eat a meal while watching a sporting event is almost non-existent. The service is not what it was even three months ago.

I'm really sorry to say that this place is overrated. The food is decent, but those with less adventurous appetites (or simply a low tolerance for spice) will find only a few choices available to them. Put another way, this place focuses on menu and presentation over actually serving satisfying food. This makes it popular with foodies but the reality is that nothing is truly better than what you can find for a little less elsewhere nearby. We've given it three chances now and doubt we will return for a fourth.

One of the best places anywhere.

Elegant dinning and delicious seafoods.

More spendy, has great deals, wonderful place.

Prepare to spend some money. A 3 course meal and a cheap bottle of wine for 2 set us back well over $100. Money well spent, but know going in what it can cost you. The food is delicious and well executed. This restaurant is in a league of it's own within a large radius. French inspired cuisine with nearly everything made in house and masterfully executed. The service was knowledgeable yet never got too stuffy. That goes a long way. Highly recommended.

This place has a special place in my heart; its where my husband and I had our very first date and I'll never forget the excellent meal we had, in 2008. Flash forward 11 years... sadly, just not the same, at all. For our experience last night, I thought the food was tasty...but the service, bleh. Our waitress struck out. News flash: there are plenty of other dining options in Livingston, this place would do well to refine/train it's service staff. Also, boo to removing the table by the kitchen (it's now the bread table, where they now stage cold, dry bread from); it was the best seat in the house.

Micaela Mooers

Quaint feel. Good food and nice staff. The fried bree is very good!

Sara Brown

Such a great dinner experience! We had a lovely Waitress, and delicious food... from the appetizers- the limoncello! Such a great way to celebrate a birthday or truly any occasion- seriously even the fact that it is a -day of the week.

Best place in the area. Good flavors and great service. As others have stated, it is on the pricier side, but no more than any other restaurants of this caliber. Most dinners are around $30. They do serve homemade bread which is becoming rare.

A French inspired American Bistro with high quality food and plated perfectly. Pictured below are the short ribs over a potato croquet, scallops over saffron Risotto and the crab cake salad. This place is always consistent and never disappoints. The chocolate mousse is to die for! Happy eating.

Great food, nice atmosphere

Half off small plates during the off-season might be the best deal in the country.

KC Luchsinger

Not just the best place in Livingston, but among the best in the valley, Big Timber to Big Sky. Excellent staff, extraordinary food. Do not miss the food adventure that is the 2SB!

Mayana Rice

Excellent meal. Lovely service.

2nd street bistro has great food but falls a little short on atmosphere. The restaurant was very warm inside and they do not allow you to bring your own wine. They have great house made pastas.

JACK PHILLIPS

Great place for breakfast

Moules frites! (Mussels and fries) Delicioso!!!

Me and my Husband decided to try something new and eat at this gorgeous restaurant for our 1 year wedding anniversary! I'm very glad we did. We LOVED the hot crab and artichoke dip. Very good. Both of our entrees were immaculate. I had the shrimp pasta and my hubby had beef stroganoff. On top of amazing food our server was so kind and on top of everything!

For a state that is known for cattle ranching, it can be surprisingly difficult to find a good steak. Most steakhouses (even ones that aren't national franchises) rely on large portions (16 oz, 24 oz) to make up for middling quality. In such a place, the 2nd Street Bistro is a welcome find. It is a gem of a restaurant with excellent service and amazing food. When I asked for a steak, I didn't get a two pound behemoth of passable "meat". I got a perfectly cooked ribeye that was tender, flavorful, and portioned to feed someone who doesn't want to die from cardiovasular disease before the age of 30. The only thing better than the steak is the french onion soup which borders on a religious experience. But I honeslty can't rank favorites on this menu, everything is made with such devotion and skill that it all works. In the words of Anthony Bourdain who visited the restaurant in 2009 "in-f*&^in-credible food"

Super nice meal tonight with the Sunday night tour of Europe meal! Great service and atmosphere.

A customer recommended this restaurant as "the best restaurant in Montana" and told me it was Italian theme. The wine menu is quite good, the Caesar Salad fine, I had the Bolognese, it did not seem to match the description on the menu. It had a distinctive flavor I finally recalled from my college days 30 years ago, it was a $24.00 plate of Hamburger Helper, I kid you not. $66.00 later, I left hungry.

We hadn't planned on finding such a great opportunity early Easter evening, but the Bistro was providing a prix fixe tasting menu with wine at an unbelievable price. Morel mushrooms! Waygu beef, creole seafood stew! And 3 great wines. We will be back for the food and personal service.

Wonderful food, great atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely going back.

We had such a great time eating here. The food was delicious and the servers were all really friendly and accommodating. We showed up slightly early for our reservation so they gave us a table outside where we could order appetizers and drinks while we were waiting. And they allow you to order drinks from the bar next door if there are any beers on tap there that you're more fond of!

Melinda Culbertson

Amazing food and outstanding service! This is by far one of the best restaurants we've ever dined at! Highly recommend!

Donna Morvay

Prefix dinner excellent. Great service.

Food was excellent. We had the ribeye and frites, scallops, and crabmeat salad. All prepared perfectly. Our server, Stephania, was delightful and efficient. Food was reasonably priced. Thought the drinks, although good, were overpriced.

Robert Johnston

Very good food. Not cheap, but fair price for the quality.

Jack Catron

What a wonderful experience!!! Fresh food, and very wonderful help... My go to place in Livingston. Never disappointed...

My family and I were passing through town and thought we would give 2nd Street Bistro a try. There were three in our party and we presented ourselves to the hostess for seating at 6:15 pm (normal business hours). We thought we would be seated, given the fact that the restaurant was almost completely empty (only a few tables had customers) and there were a large number of empty tables. The hostess, however, was unwilling to seat us because we didn’t have a reservation. We walked around the corner and found great food not more than a few feet away. I found it a bit strange that an empty restaurant would turn away paying customers when their nearby neighboring establishments were overflowing with customers....

Mike Marxer

Attended Bo and Tiffany's wedding reception and dinner at the 2nd Street Bistro and the Murry Bar Feb 23rd 2014. The service was incredible and the food was better than fantastic! Thanks Brian and staff for a great event!

Excellent food. A salad and a small plate will fill you. Pricey. Try to get a table by the window.

Probably one of the best all around restaurants in Montana. Great wines, solid menu, excellent staff.

The pineapple jalapeño margarita is the best cocktail I’ve ever had! Excellent staff and service. Can’t wait to to return for dinner.

The buffalo steak was really good, I agree with other reviews, it is a little pricey for content. Small portions for the price. The people served well.

This was always our go-to restaurant when we traveled through Livingston but our experience tonight was less than stellar. We called ahead for reservations, hoping to get in around 5:15. We were told we wouldn't be able to get in until 6:15, so we walked around for a bit, then got a call asking if we were going to make our 5:15 reservation! We hurried over to the restaurant. We ordered the specials, and my husband counted 15 other diners who came in after us and were served before us! We were there over an hour waiting for our food. The ravioli special was unusually bland. Altogether a disappointment.
