My husband and I had actually tried to go to the Mexican seafood restaurant 2 miles away from here, the internet and their door said they closed at 10, but they actually closed at 9, we got there at 5 till 9 and were told very rudely they were closed. So we ended up googling restaurants near by and couldn't have been more happy that place was closed. My husband, Ray had the house salad that wasn't just an ordinary salad, fresh greens with a delicious dressing. I got the special shredded Brussels sprout salad, they do have one one the menu but this one had more on it like fresh goat cheese and a different dressing also delicious, both salads were the best I've ever had. I got the rigatoni with jumbo gulf shrimp, roasted cauliflower, sun dried tomatoes, and a creamy tomato sauce, I ate my fill and had a whole meal to take home for lunch. My husband had a beef tenderloin served on mashed potatoes, he doesn't eat mushrooms mainly because if the texture, but he even ate the mushrooms because it was all so good. Every thing was great, amazing, Wonderful down to the food the staff the service everything we couldn't have asked for better again we are so so happy that restaurant was closed even know their door and Internet said otherwise because we would have never went to this restaurant if not thank you again for the amazing food and service and we will see you next time we're in Saint Louis

Cant really put this on FB cause I'm afraid I might offend someone but Im at Trattoria Marcella tonight getting dinner to go and they have got two people...cant say they are disabled cause they are working...but they've got two people here working who seem to have more difficulty than others but they are waiting tables and showing people to their table and doing a great job. You dont find many places that will give folks who have a little different capabilities a chance. Food is awesome. A little expensive but I will patronize this place for the future.

I was very impressed with our waiter and our quality of service. Took my daughter for her 16th birthday and she absolutely loved her food. My dish was very flavorful but I just did not care for it. I cannot hold that against the restaurant that was just my personal taste. But for the amount of money I paid in the service we got everything was worth it.

We walked in on a busy Saturday night. It was great to see. We planned on staying for a drink. I was able to grab a chair at the bar and a few minutes later another next to us opened up. We stayed for a couple rounds and enjoyed the Mussels and Stuffed Artichoke. The two Bartenders were super busy and very efficient. If it's only 2-3 in your party. Grab a seat at the bar. Do it. Great Italian food. I had the veal chop. Which was one of the specials. It was melt in your mouth delicious. The seasoning was on point. The risotto was creamy and rich. So good. And the lemon panacotta was yummy. Have to return for the tiramisu!

Trattoria Marcella has great food. The ambience is a cozy, but it feels slightly dated in design. Some seats near high traffic areas can affect your dining experience. The muscle pot appetizer is fantastic and definitely worth it. My wife loves the flash fried spinach that comes under the calamari. The calamari is good, but the portion is a little small. I have had their pizzas which are tasty, but also a little small for the price. I try the specials frequently and an rarely disappointed. Most of the entrees are able in size and really good too. I really enjoy going here.

All entrees were thoroughly enjoyed at the table. The Town&Country is a delicious mixed drink to try. The shaved Brussels salad is one of my favorites. You really can't go wrong with anything you choose. Try the chocolate bonbons or tiramisu for dessert! Shout out to Joe who provided excellent service and attention to detail.

Excellent food overcomes long-ish wait times. If you're dinning in, just be prepared to be there a while. The bar area gets a little crowded, but they're busy because their food is amazing! Everything that they serve is prepared perfectly. We have even done carryout a few times and the way that they package your order ensures that your food holds up VERY well for the ride home. Also, we have made some fairly complex takeout orders and they nail it every time. Never a missed or wrong item.

I never write reviews, but I'm breaking my silence in support of a business that I have been impressed with for a long time. I have been a customer for many years. Recently I adopted a vegan lifestyle and I had not been in for months. They did not judge my diet choice (a lot of places do) and were excited to accommodate me. I had a vegan meal that was great, but the service and warmth of the staff is what makes Trattoria Marcella so wonderful!

A true neighborhood gem, despite being situated on the corner of a pretty busy street. We've tried quite a few things from the menu, but you really can't go wrong with the risotto - particularly the lobster risotto, which is not on the menu, but is a perpetual special that they'll make on request. On our most recent visit, we tried the daily special, which was a grilled barramundi (a wonderfully sustainable Asian Sea Bass) with blistered cherry tomatoes over Parmesan risotto. Absolutely amazing. Wife had the beef tenderloin, which you could practically cut with a fork.

My favorite Italian restaurant on The Hill. I take my out of town guests here whenever I can. All the risottos are amazing. The gnocchi are perfect and the wine selection is one of the best in the region. For the quality of the food and service, this is a HUGE value-food and service are 5 stars, with barely a 3 star price tag. Extremely popular and always full at dinner time. Expect a wait. The chef (and owner, I think) walks the room and checks on his guests-very classy. You cannot go wrong at Trattoria Marcella.

Prior to this weekend I would have given this place 5 stars, but we went this past Saturday night and our service was awful. So bad that other servers we coming over to our table to serve us because they could tell we were frustrated. My food was good, but my wife's was lukewarm, which is a problem when its seafood... Typically a very good choice. We just ran in to a bad server. I am sure we will go back eventually.

Didnt have a good experience at all. Food was not delious at all. I got spegetti and meatballs. Not enough sauce on my spegetti and meatballs were not that good either. No spices in them? My husband got some kind of steak pieces with some kind of potatoes He didnt like his either. We didnt even like the BREAD. sorry but we herd this place was so good by other people but now we wont believe people any more. Something kept going on with the music too. We sat out on patio cause they were super busy. Had reservations for 830 friday night. When we arrived were told theres a wait. Thats when i seen there was room on patio. The music was on at first and then i had to ask FOUR times before they finally turned it on. By then, we got out of there. Only had one drink.

I love this restaurant. It has not disappointed me ever. I recently changed to a vegan diet and although there wasn't anything on the menu, they accommodated my dietary preferences. We like to go out to a nice restaurant once a week and usually try to go somewhere different. We've gone to Marcella several times, because we think it may be one of the best in St. Louis. It's not the fanciest place in St. Louis, but don't judge a book by it's cover. The food is incredible. The mussels appetizer is amazing- beware you may be tempted to drink the sauce. Their lobster risotto which is not on the menu is beyond delicious, and their tiramisu is the best I've ever had. This is absolutely a must go!

Superb Italian food, the pappardelle bolognese was otherworldly, freshly made noodles, amazing sausage bolognese. The raspberry lemon cream dessert was equally noteworthy. We were surprised how crowded it was on a Friday night (totally regret not making reservations- rookie mistake), but we didn't have to wait long for a table on the patio to open up.Favorite favorite favorite was the arancini appetizer. I wish I had ordered double. Possibly my favorite thing I ate all weekend. Other than that, wasn't blown away by my spaghetti dish. Nice neighborhood spot with good service.

I wanted to give my out of town family a memorable dining experience in St. Louis and Trattoria Marcella did not disappoint. Our party of 14 had reserved the private room, which was perfect, and allowed two youngsters in our group to move around and not disturb other guests. Our waiters, Michael and Lisa, were terrific, attentive and gracious. The food was superb. This is a lovely jewel that I’m embarrassed to say I’d never been to before. I’ll be back! Thoroughly enjoyable dining experience.

This is by far one of the best places on The Hill for Italian food. I would describe it as a little more of an upscale restaurant, but still has nice family feel to it. They do a great job of keeping the menu simple. They have pizza, pasta as well as a variety of beef and chicken dishes. They also offer Italian staples like Risotto, Lasagna and Spaghetti & Meatballs. I have even had the experience of the chef making something special to order. Over the years I have been a big fan of the "Straw and Hay" dish as well as the Beef Tenderloin. Everything is high quality and prepared with care and precision. I have never been here and felt they had an "off" night. They have an expansive wine menu as well as a courteous and knowledgeable staff. This is my go to recommendation for anyone looking for a really good dining experience. It's not a huge restaurant, so reservations are highly encouraged.

This place is absolutely wonderful. The staff was very nice and service was great. I started with the table hummus and bread; the hummus was nothing to write home about but the bread was fresh, hot, and quite good. The basil lemonade was excellent and I highly recommend it if you're not drinking alcohol with your meal (the cocktail list was unique and I wanted to try 3 or 4 of them but wasn't drinking). As many have mentioned, the lobster risotto was very, very good. The mushrooms and spinach in it really pulled it all together and I only wish I had room for more. When I'm back in town, I'm definitely coming back to try more of the menu.

The food was outstanding and we had a fantastic couple of wines as well. My only reason not rating it 5 stars is the noise and activity. It’s such a busy restaurant and so many staff that it’s a bit nerve-wracking with everyone running around the entire meal. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing dining experience this may not be the best choice. If however you want an outstanding Italian dinner, then by all means definitely go!

We (38 of us!) celebrated my son’s wedding rehearsal dinner at Trattoria Marcella last week and were treated like royalty. The food and service were exceptional. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and gave compliment after compliment. Jamie, Christine, and the entire staff went above and beyond to make sure we all had a stellar evening. I can’t thank all of you enough for making the celebration so special and memorable. I also enjoyed happy hour one evening last week as well and was very impressed with the delicious and very reasonably priced food and drink specials; this will definitely become a regular stop that I will make on my way home from work. Went here for brothers rehearsal dinner. Seated about 50 some odd people. Amazing food. Beef carpaccio was amazing. Lobster risotto was a hit. Nice little place for a date of I lived nearby but I don't.
