food was great once we got it and then they got are order right. waited almost 45 minutes for our food while others around us who came in 30 minutes after us ordered the same food and got it in 15 minutes or less. hostess want very friendly either.
This is a good family place to eat. Prices were a little high but you got large portions and was good. Don't mind paying a little more if you get your money worth!
I love pork tenderloin sandwiches. Their pork tenderloin is some of the best I have had and I have had them in many places. I also like the option of being able to get tater tots instead of french fries. It is hard to get french fries that suits my taste. Service was good and the place was clean. No complaints
I brought my mom here for her birthday and I wasn't disappointed I ordered a patty melt and it was really good.
Great food southern cuisine
Good country cooking but nothing special.
Wow! The whole family loved everything about this place. Will make it a point to return every trip that brings us near. Did I say WOW!
Excellent Tenderloin. Excellent Service. Being Black we kind of got stared at, but on the same hand, there was some friendly peoplealso. I will definitely be back
The pricing has really went through the roof. 2 soda pops for $5? Chicken Alfredo $12.99/ most of the noodles weren't covered...besides pasta is inexpensive- with tax and tip $40 for a couple...
The food and service were great. It made me feel like I was at a family reunion.
The fried chicken and rolls, WOW. Amazing!
Great place to eat. Good large juicy ribeye steaks and the roll was awesome. Bbq pulled pork sandwich was also great with a nice smoked flavor and the home cut fries tasted like they were fried in peanut oil and were delicious. Would love to visit again.
Love Smith's - good old fashioned rib-sticking food, friendly staff, great pies. Found it by accident a few years ago when we were in Bolivar for a tournament, ended up eating there for every meal. Now we plan to go any time we'll be in the area.
Very delicious food and a great staff
Love this place always stop in when in town.
Good place for tenderloin sandwiches
Best and most tender chicken I've had in a long time
Had the buffet. Very good. Went away full to the brim.
Service is always good. Would do 5 stars except 2 times now I ordered the open face roast beef and it was not very warm. Wouldn't even say it was like warm. And the brown gravey had vary little flavor.
Excellent food, friendly service, nice atmosphere.
The food was dried out on buffet, our waitress was no where in site.i had to use hot sauce to cover the taste of burnt hash brown casserole. She only brought one cup of coffee. Then dropped of our ticket. I had to beg for refills pretty sad when you pay$12.99 each for buffet and it's horrible. Best thing was the fresh fruit. Sorry to here your boyfriends favorite song is jolene. Maybe you should spend more time serving customers than talking to waitresses
Great food, great service. A place we'll eat every time we are in town
Home cooking..great food..great service
If you're looking for one of the best - and biggest - tenderloin sandwiches in the area, this is the place to stop. This was my first visit and I'll definitely stop again when going through there. On a side note, if you like buffets, theirs looks great... breakfast and lunch at the same time Sunday morning.
Food was ok. Two of us had to ask for fresh fries as mine were cold. There were 3 of us who had lunch. We each bought a full pie to take home. Two Coconut cream and one Key lime. They cost 20.00 each. 60.00 worth of pies that when we got home ended up in the trash. Each made with some sort of cool whip product instead of merengue was the worst pie we ever had anywhere. What a RIP off.
Good food, friendly staff. Had a large group come in just before closing due to a funeral. The staff was kind of courteous and did an excellent job.
Very nice buffet! Personnel very friendly!
The food is great and it's a family run business. They have a daughter who will become Miss America some day. Already Miss Teen Missouri.
Very good country style favorites!! Large portions. Nice staff and lots of nostalgic items to look at and a gift shop with yummy goodies and souvenirs. The food is a little higher in price than other restaurants.
The food here is quite delectable. Our waitress was top notch. We truly enjoyed our experience here. It was a 5 star breakfast. We will definitely return when we're back in town.
Stopped here on a motorcycle trip and the food was great.
Sunday buffet was good. The service was great. Wait staff was very attentive.
I'm sure it was great because there were a lot of people there. However, our tour bus just stopped for a bathroom break on our way to Springfield, Missouri. Bathroom was clean, but only one faucet at the sink worked, which caused a bit of a bottleneck at the sink.
This has their world famous country fried steak... And it definitely is worth being called world famous! Prices are great staff is wonderful and they even have a little gift shop in there now that has super cute stuff... definitely worth repeat business... If you've never been there it is a must!!!!
Good homestyle cooking/comfort foods at reasonable prices. Only complaint is that they close earlyish even on the weekends, but that is every non fast food restaurant in this area.
Awesome food! Home made good!
Although the food was great. friend had peach cobbler, and I ordered a cheeseburger, it took 15 minutes or more to get the cheeseburger. Oh, by the way it was in the middle of the afternoon
Iced tea was excellent and service very Good. Menu doesn't have enough variety and way too many smoked meats. Cole slaw was full of sugar. Menu needs more vegetables.
Not my kinda place to expensive. They act like they are a tourist trap. Not worth the money at all
When is a gift card not a gift card? When it is not honored by the sponsor. Feeling disappointed. The lack of entrepreneurial savvy on the part of the owners; the lack of courtesy or genuine apologetic concern. Smith's Restaurant will not be getting my business in the future and I feel sadness for the one who gave us the gift card which was not honored. They have been taken advantage of in this transaction. The attitude of the owner leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Giving it over to the Lord. But buyer be aware...
Very good we eat there every time we go threw
Pork tenderloin mmmmm. Nuff said!
Good place to eat. I've brought several work colleagues here for lunch everyone loved it. If you are looking for good food this is your spot.
Great food and friendly service! Their roast beef is amazing!!!
Always great food and service, never disappoints. Large portions at great prices. We ordered fried pickles and fried mushrooms for appetizers. I had the grilled tenderloin salad with the hot bacon mustard salad dressing. Wonderful!
Friendly atmosphere, great service and delicious food What more could anyone ask for?? We love this place!
Best tenderloin I've ever had! The servers were nice, place was clean, the food was delicious.
We just stopped for a bit to see the antiques, but there weren't many. Pies looked amazing! We didn't eat so that maybe would have changed my score.
The waiter was very friendly, even though we got there 30 minutes before close. I ordered the rib-eye steak for $19.99. It came out with a big chunk of fat that was about 1/5th of the steak. It wasn't seasoned either, not even with salt. The steak was about 1/3 medium rare, and 2/3 rare. I ordered it medium rare. The salad was basic iceberg lettuce, shredded cheese, and three cherry tomatoes. My son ordered the pulled pork sandwich for $11.99. Tasted like cheap, store bought, barbecue sauce. The pork was a little dry, and luke warm. The food came out quick, and not up to temperature. The service was friendly, no matter the time, and I would try them again not so close to closing time. Just to see if they do better in the day.
Buffet was good. Nice variety.
We've only been here twice now but have loved it both times. We will probably be regulars here now! Delicious food and awesome service!!!
Good home cooked food, great service.
Their food is absolutely amazing and very filling.
Great country fried steak!
Friendly, great service. Lots of good comfort food and home-cooked options on the menu.
Stopped in for dinner on the way back to KC from Springfield. Buffet gave me food poisoning within a half hour of leaving. SO had a plate from the kitchen with no issues.
Great food. Nice people
Great place to eat. Have good daily specials and prices are good. You won't leave hungry, we always take something home.
They have the buffet again on Friday nights. Fresh food, salad bar. Good service. Can't forget the pies or cobblers.
I ordered the chicken fried steak for lunch at around 1pm. I was asked if I would like white or brown gravy. When my meal was brought to the table I saw what looked to be sausage gravy on everything. I asked the waitress about this and she indeed confirmed it was. Typically the breakfast shift at most places wraps up at around 10:30a as they transition over to lunch - very confusing as to why I was being sold biscuits/gravy left overs.
The fast and friendly service, laid back atmosphere, joyful, family friendly, and excellent homemade food!!!!!
Love their lunch buffet. Chicken is really good
Delicious Food Wonderful Staff, the staff is what makes a restaurant!!! Great food
Country charm, big servings reasonably priced and really novel gifts. Easy on/off Hwy 13
Great tenderloin sandwich, yum, come hungry
The grilled pork chops are so delishous and cooked just right very tender and juicy.Every time I eat there the waitresses and waiters are very courteous and quick to give you what you need.In my opinion this is the best place in the Bolivar area for good home cooked meals.
Great food, prices were a little higher than usual, but service was great and they got the food out blazingly fast.
They have the best pork tenderloin in the world. I have to stop every time I go through Collins or Bolivar. Their food is what all food should be like if it’s advertised as home cooking.
Excellent service and great tasting food. Hone style cooking. All-you-can-eat buffet on Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday. Recommend!
A definite stop when traveling on Hwy 13 and going through Bolivar. The service was great and the food was excellent like always. The open atmosphere seating really brings the small town dinner feeling right @ home, and inviting. So if your traveling through this area and are looking for some good old fashion Midwestern food, and Americana, this is a place for you.
Chicken strips and fried chicken are really good. I love their rolls, and they have the best pie around. Expect to wait unless you get the buffet though.
Amazing tenderloin! Archer loved the mac and cheese as well. Staff was very nice and did a great job! It would be a good spot for large groups also
Waited over 45 minutes for food. When it arrived it was cold. Not lukewarm...cold. The baked potato was old, the broccoli and chicken fried chicken cold. The roll was not homemade....and it was cold...like from a fridge. My husband ordered pulled pork. Bottled sauce....not good. Fries cold. During the entire meal, no one asked if we needed a refill and my tea glass was empty the entire time. The tea was not clear......it was cloudy....yuk. Then, the prices are too high for the poor quality food. Will not return. Several women standing around in the gift section, but not much help serving food. I saw several people sending food back that was cold. We were traveling and lost an hour and a half on the road for poor, but expensive food. This is not home cooking or even conveniently good.....just really bad and cold. And the cloudy tea......nasty. We travel through here quite often but will not stop again, or recommend it.
Plenty of fresh made food.
Went here for a family dinner, and their food is really good! I absolutely love their tenderloins!
Great food...great prices
Had an excellent server. Food was well presented and tasty.
Variety menu. Easy access & good service.
Great service and decent food.
Service is great. The only truly bad thing is that for lunch they run out of chicken special before 12:30 pm.
Nice staff and food was good. The service was fast.
IT must have been between shifts as they were not busy but had trouble deciding if they were able to seat a table of two! There were three hostesses/wait staff involved and no one could figure out what to do! The younger of them seated us and not so much as smiled or said anything!! When we were seated we had 5 different wait staff come to our table on different occasions and virtually do nothing as we got the buffet. Sad , sad, sad!!! NEVER again!
Old fashion country cooking done right. Always fast and friendly staff.
Great stop and food,to get off of the highway.
Smith's in Springfield we waited an hour for our food. People coming in after us got their food in record time. Only explanation was the tickets got mixed up and all we received were free drinks. Two of us were drinking water, one child's soda, one adult soda and one iced tea. Will not be going back.
We had a great breakfast. The atmosphere is rural/country. The service was good. We would eat here again.
Always love eating at Smith's!! Clean friendly and good home cooked meals at a reasonable price.
Really good. Food and service
We had great service! The tenderloin was huge. There weren't many allergy options.
Wonderful service and great down home style cooking...really enjoyed it!
Love Smith's!! Delicious food and family owned. Highly recommend! Service, staff, and food are top notch.
Prices decent, family of 3 with large meals for $40. Food is good, portions good, lacking some seasoning. Wait staff is very friendly.
Great food good hospitality waiters and waitresses
Wide variety of food to choose from at this rustic-themed restaurant. Large groups can be easily accommodated with reservations for special events such as birthday parties and meetings. My favorite is the grilled chicken salad that can be ordered in 1/2 size which is perfect for lunch. Their salads are quite large at full size. Their desserts are amazing! My favorite is the sugar-free coconut cream - so save room for dessert when you go to Smith's!!!
Had heard how good the tenderloin sandwich was but was disappointed as very little meat & really not a good taste. Wait staff was great. Had a piece of coco it pie. It was all whipped cream with very little coconut filling & the crust was so tough you could hardly cut it with a fork.
The food and service are especially good. It's an experience that you will want to return to often. Their specialty is the pork tenderloin, order the half size so that you can save room for the home made pies or cobblers. You won't be disappointed.
Only reason I did this is because we walked, waited to be seated, two other groups walked in behind us and as we are standing there they were asked their name, I am standing there with my hands out and like I'm help and was ignored. Guess they are marked off my return list. We left too. However I will say the owner is nice. C
Very good place to eat. Reasonable prices family restaurant. Country cooking.
Best tenderloin I have ever eaten and huge. Pies are great service is always friendly and food gets to you fast.
A down home southern fried feel. Staff is friendly. The portions are large. The food is good. A regular stop anytime we are traveling through.
This is absolutely the best place in Bolivar to eat. Delicious foodand very friendly service. They get 10 stars from me!!!!
Chicken fried chicken was wonderful. Homemade rolls were delicious. Everyone was friendly. Will definitely be back!
Everything was good. The green beans were very salty
Wonderful place to eat. Great food and great service!
Great food, large proportion. Very busy but the service wasn't lacking because of it.
Very good food.Great service.
Great place to eat and look around the store.
The food is usually good, but don't go if you are in a hurry, have been several times and service is very slow.
Had a great dinner and the staff was friendly and helpful for us first timers! Would love to go back some time!
Best kept secret in Bolivar with all the locals the farmers the men home cooking a daily dessert menu that changes an excellent food excellent service just a great place to take somebody you love.
Great food and service! Good family atmosphere
Food is typically very good. Service is great if they're not slammed busy. Bring your wallet...
Service was great, food was awesome and prices were good for what we got. Would and have recommended to family and friends to go an try it.
food was good but the service little slow
Their famous pork tenderloin is amazing!
Very good service good food but very busy
Thursday kids eat free! Great home style cooking. Try the sweet potato fries!
Good food ....lots of trinkets .......
Stopped here for dinner, and it was delicious! Had the fried chicken, and tried four of the sides. Everything was on point, and the staff was very nice.
Love, love the food and service. Worth driving 17hrs to eat here. A must stop by and Eat!! Get a steak or famous pork tenderloin Yum
If you dont get the pork tenderloin your crazy. But save room for pie, some of the best I've ever had. It takes awhile to get your order but that's because it's made to order, and worth the wait.
Drove the 30 miles from Stockton for lunch with a plan of using a gift card. Also, since the Lion's Club meets there, I wanted to drop off used eyeglasses. The whole event was a disaster. I don't really fault them for not having a clue about the Lion's Club; but the GIFT CARD. WOW! When I went to pay, I was informed "the processor was down." Okay. Just hold onto the gift card and process the ticket later. I will pay the balance now." Server did not know how to handle that. In steps a big fella, who immediately became aggressive in his demeanor. He said he couldn't hold it til later. I asked a different question totally unrelated, trying to calm him down. Didn't work. He told me that "HE is the owner, and not his wife" (who is the one who gave me the card). He said the processor had been down for two weeks, and that there were signs posted out front to that intent. I went out front and looked at all three doors, which only had a sign about an NRA banquet coming up. Mean and a liar to boot. Just one more place that wants my dollar, but not my business. (Fortunately, there are not too many of those in this part of the country) Now I understand why the staff has been less than friendly on our two visits. It always floats from the top. I was treated in a perfunctory manner concerning the Lion's Club, and I was treated harshly over the gift card. The only reason for the one star rating is that the food was hot.
Excellent food with good seasoning and big servings. Good home cooked food. Giant tenderloin is excellent.
Good food, pricey and bath room floor needs a deep cleaning around stalls. We had a excellent server.
Great food and atmosphere.
We had the buffet.it was 12.99.had alot of food on there.with alot of desert.was really good.
Great food and the service was very good.
Nice place Great menu Excellent service.. Great food!!
