REVIEWS OF Pappy's Smokehouse IN Missouri

Dan Russell

Absolutely amazing food! My brother and I split a meal and we were both so full after we could hardly move. Their house made sauces are awesome!

Chris

Some of the best barbecue around! If you haven't been here I highly recommend checking them out. You won't be disappointed.

Thomas King

This was my first time at Pappy’s. Chicken wings, southern greens and Mac and cheese were just right for a delicious southern-style lunch. Next time, ribs and pulled pork please.

Katelyn Williams

Amazing food! The chicken, BBQ sauce, and sides were delicious especially the baked potato and green beans! There is usually a line but it moves fairly quickly. Your food is to you within minutes of ordering!

Monica Whitted

Love this place! We have flown from Oregon to STL three times and always make it a point to eat here. Even when crazy busy, they keep the line moving and you are never disappointed when your plate is brought to you. Highly recommend!

Gordon Mcneill

The hype is real. Great ribs and burnt ends. Loved the sides as well.

Tonya Denis

Good tasting barbecue.....we forgot to use the sauce. We had the ribs, baked beans, potato salad and fried corn. All of the food was GREAT!! The server Hal for carry out was friendly and quite pleasant. We will visit again before leaving St.Louis

Carol Lumpkins

Excellent and the staff is so friendly. This was my first time here and I will be back again and bring my family.

Salena Dugger

The burnt ends were amazing and the service was fantastic. I would highly recommend Pappy's!!

Bob Toler

Great and comfortable place to eat. Food was great! From order to eat wasn't very long on an early Sunday afternoon. The hoodoo sauce was just right!!

Ian Spellman

Round trip drive from ohio to colorado each year, never fail to stop at Pappy's. The food, the staff and the cooking culture here brings us back year over year. The parking lot is full and there is a line, for a reason. 5 stars should say it all.

Eddie

Found this place on accident and I’m so glad I did. We got here right when they opened and there was already a line AND there was a line for the line. For good reason too. Awesome food and super fast service. The pulled pork was delicious, the burnt end were perfect and the potato salad was 5/5. John, one of the owners, bounced around the whole time and he was super friendly and freaking hilarious. Definitely recommend this place to everyone who will listen.

Delta Fajardo

Excellent food, great service, and we even had one of the owners visit and give personal attention. Yes, there is a long wait, but it is well worth it, and let's be honest, for such a staple restaurant, you have to expect it will be extremely popular. Givem that, it could be loud with it's open scape. So, plan accordingly. Lots of food for a good price.

Christopher Cox

best ribs I've ever had. dont ruin them with bbq sauce

Trump One

Place was pretty busy I tried to spicy sausage it was pretty good except for I didn't care much for the skin on the sausage nice place and nice atmosphere.

Sabrina Rhodes

Didn't go to the smokehouse went to southern chicken and it was phenomenal! I love this place. Was my first time, food is bomb! Huge portions, tastes delicious, worth every penny. Atmosphere nice. Staff cool.

Justin Ludwig

This is the best barbecue I've had in my entire life. I cannot recommend this more highly.

Clay Babin

Best BBQ in St. Louis, as far as I know. Always excellent - tender and juicy, great flavor. Just writing this is making me want some. Very informal - picnic tables with benches, although they also have a good sized private party room. Has always been busy when I've been there, but wait is minimal.

Sisali Salazar

By far the worst barbecue experience I’ve ever had, very small portions of food. I ordered a family size and got a individual portion. Bread is extremely hard. Would not recommend AT ALL.

David Simpson

Great ribs. Great service. The host brought me a cup of burned ends while I was standing in line because he thought I should try them. It was easily a 1/4 lb.

Jeff Remy

Loved this place! It's been known to be one of the best in St. Louis, MO. I was there last night with my family and it did not let us down! Brisket, pulled pork, corn on the cob, potato salad all were excellent! Even picky eaters in my family were impressed...

Ronnie

By far one of the BEST places you will ever eat! Every time I am in St.Louis I make sure to come here. They will not disappoint!

Hillary Goebel

I had to come to St. Louis on business and my chiropractor had told me I needed to visit Pappy's because it is the best BBQ ever. Boy was he right! I had the brisket with fried corn on the cob and sweet potato fries. Heaven. The portion is huge but you could split or end up with some amazing leftovers. Highly recommend. It'll be a regular visit of mine for all future St. Louis business trips.

Abby G.

Yum! Yum! Yum! A half-hour wait that was worth it! Great barbecue and attentive staff! Even my sometimes-picky, likes-"plain"-food 11-year-old liked what he went with, which was the turkey breast. Husband and I had ribs. YUM

Sebastian Patel

I was in Saint Louis for work and a local recommended this place for lunch. I walk in and was greeted and shown where to stand to order. Also was told that they have the best ribs in the country voted by The Food Network. They were not kidding. The ribs were amazing. I also had the baked beans with it and enjoyed them as well. Service was prompt and friendly. Very much a place that I would visit again

t kirby

First place I visited when I landed in STL. You are cheating yourself out of what might be the best BBQ around if you don't stop in. All the staff are amazing and help keep the line moving efficiently. Don't be scared about the long line you are bound to see, it moves fast and there is always a seat available.

Darice Murray

Pappy"s Smokehouse has some of the best Bar-B-Que in St. Louis. The staff is always pleasant no matter what time of day you visit. The portion sizes are excellent for the price. Some say it's pricey, but if you want good food you have to be willing to pay for it. I personally love ribs but you have to purchase a full slab. That's the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Bethanne Dulany

Great BBQ! We went for lunch around 1:30PM and there was no line! We had ribs and brisket, both delicious but the ribs were definitely my favorite. The were fall off the bone perfection!

Shane Simmons

Fast and friendly even in a packed house. Best ribs. Ever.

Mark S

This place just gets better and better. It's the best bbq I have ever had. The burnt ends are especially delicious because they pull them instead of just cubing them like most places, so the texture is even better. New additions, they had beer the last time I was there, plus steak fries seem to be a regular addition to the menu (which I prefer over the sweet). The line is always huge but it moves pretty fast and your food comes out right after ordering it so total wait time is similar to any sit down place.

Maggie Schepmann

This was such a great venue for our group to eat. The staff was friendly and got our food out to us quickly even though our group was very large. The atmosphere was fantastic and it felt so authentic.

EMARS77

The ribs...holy sh*t...amazing. Fast friendly service...and those ribs! Parking can be a bit tight in their lot, but did I mention the ribs??

Jennifer Parker

As soon as you arrive you ask for a menu, pick what you want and then come up to the cashier to place your order. This process was pretty painless. Of course I ordered a full slab or ribs and added a small side of their burnt ends for an additional $4.50. Being voted as the best ribs in America I again had a lot of expectations. But i was just a little bit (not a lot) disappointed for a couple of reasons. The ribs had great smoke flavor and it was definitely fall off the bone but it was a bit dry for my liking (again you may have a different take). But as soon as you start to eat the ribs, the more that I really wished it was more moist of a rib. Love the flavor of their dry rub as it definitely came out. I was a bit surprised about the burnt ends they gave me as it was more like a pulled beef. And I couldn't really enjoy the burnt parts. It was just ok for me. Their sauce, especially the hot one is DA BOMB. I wasn't a big fan of their slaw and the potato fries were a little bit over cooked to my liking.

SueAnne Routh

Best BBQ Rids was the best ever!! Didn’t care for the potato salad or the baked beans. Last time I tried the pulled pork and it was amazing too.

Conan Stuart

Best ribs I've had in a long time. I got there at a perfect time and was able to place my order right away. The food came out fast. The staff were friendly (and very busy) and the inside of the restaurant was comfortable and clean.

David Mathews

Food was decent but didn’t live up to the hype. Might have to go back and try the ribs.

Marty Shaw

Stopped in while visiting St Louis on recommendation of the Holiday Inn staff and glad they did. There was a bit of a wait standing in line, a bummer on my sore, arthritic knees, then Maggie greeted me about half way through and made the experience seem like a pleasure. I was seated immediately after ordering a half slab of ribs, baked beans and corn on the cob. The food arrived fast hot and tasty. The ribs were soooo good, I wished I had a full slab. The corn was grilled to perfection and the beans were so good, I had a second helping when I ordered the other half of my slab of ribs. Highly recommendable. I feel silly writing a review. If BBQ is within your dietary ability make a point of dining here. The staff has a respectable system to accommodate the crowd and there always is one. Seriously, the best BBQ I've ever had.

derek hall

I was told it's a staple and an iconic food joint in St Louis. It was awesome. The selection was great, the food was great, and the atmosphere was great.

Gary Johnston

Read the ribs were the best. Got the ribs. The ribs lived up to the hype. Very good without needing sauce. Sweet potato fries and baked beans were also very good. Line was a bit long, but very organized so it moved very quickly all things considered. Definetly worth a shot if you are in the area.

cassandra knapp

Absolutely delicious. Such a streamlined process from start to finish. These guys know how to feed a group of people and keep those tables rotating. You have to get there earlier in the day as they do run out of product. I really wanted to try the burnt ends, but they sold out while I was standing in line. This place is definitely worth going back to try again for those burnt ends!

Aaron Poidevin

There's a reason they claim to have the best ribs in the country! And a word to the wise, don't let that turkey sneak past, it's amazing!

Michael Brocksmith

Evidently we went at the perfect time, 3 on on a Saturday. The line was short, the food plentiful. Had the halfrack combo with burnt ends, and my sides were sweet potato fries and coke slaw. The ribs were perfect, and the taste was so on point that they needed no sauce. The burnt ends were a generous quarter pound. I've read reviews about running out of items, but we didn't face this. By the time we were leaving, the line was out the door, as it should be for food this good. I'll be back.

John Stinnett

Pulled pork was so freaking good. Glad I stopped in while I was here in town. Thanks for a delicious meal!

Keith Martin

This is one of my favorite barbecue joints in America pappy's really does good at ribs I even met the owner himself. I was standing in line he saw my Tennessee shirt and gave me a sample and we talked for a few minutes it was a fantastic restaurant I'll always go back if I'm in that area

Callie Berardi

Yum. Yum. Yum. Excellent speedy service that gets you some finger lickin' food! Days later and I'm still full! I reccomend coming here on a VERY empty stomach.

Dan Redden Jr.

Great food! Fast service! Love the choices and variety. One of the STL's best barbecue restaurants. I would recommend to all.

Rob Barlow

Fantastic ribs and burnt ends. Very good green beans. Place gets packed quickly, so come early. Very short wait between order and food. Music stars autographs there

AnTione

-Burnt Ends is the best no sauce needed at all -Brisket was very good no sauce needed but w/ sauce is a cherry on top -Vingar based 'Slaw' was good -Baked beans was delicious

Domi Meow

Honestly the best barbecue I’ve had. It was super busy but the restaurant was well organized to keep people moving and eating and all the employees were super nice and helpful

Kevan Jacobs

Neat place. Here for a soccer tournament from Cincinnati and definitely glad we checked it out!

W Merritt

The ribs are worth the wait! We were just passing through town and this was highly rated. Soon as we saw the line, we started to leave. Another customer urged us to wait it out, the line moves fast. And fast it does move! Order before you seat yourself. The ribs are the best Ive had (and we try BBQ all over the country.)

matt phillips

Wow, just wow. The food is amazing just make sure you get there in time before it sells out. They close when they run out of food.

Chelsea Wales

Best ribs and sweet potato fries EVER! The service was amazingly swift for the size of the line! We will definitely come back whenever we're in town!

Uros Andjelkovic

BBQ Temple! I don't remember being in a place where everything tastes divine! absolutely not to miss. I am a little sorry there's no real beer, but I guess there's a good reason. don't be discouraged by the waiting line. there were 20 people in line before us and I bet we started eating sooner then in other places.

Dana Davidson

Crazy long wait but well worth it as this was the best BBQ I've ever had. The hospitality was amazing and we'd recommend to anyone visiting St. Louis!

Ross W.

We got the Big Ben it came with a full slap of ribs, 2/4 of chicken, 1 pulled pork sandwich and 1 brisket sandwich with 4 sides. Everything was amazing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely going back when we get the chance.

Delmor Donald

Ribs are their signature dish? I say nay nay. With at least 100 que joints under my (expanding) belt, I can confer brisket greatness upon Pappy's. Easily the best that I've ever had. (Sorry, Rudy's.)Perfectly tender. Perfectly moist. Sides? You roll with beans, potato salad and coke slaw as yard sticks of greatness. Again, Pappy's delivers

Michael Crespo

We got the half rack, brisket and burnt ends (my favorite) with an array of sides. The fried corn was the best. try the hoodoo sause if you like spicy. Every one was friendly. We waited about 45 minutes in line to order but the food came out quick. Plan on 1.5 to 2 hours if the line is out the door to the sidewalk

Amy Newman

Love love love this place! We stopped in a few years ago after a fun day at the City Museum, and oh boy were we surprised with the food & service. So every time we are in town we have to hit up Pappys BBQ! Go early because once they sell out of something, they sell out! We love everything they offer. Ribs and burnt ends are so amazing!

buster b

Supposed to be one of the top 10 BBQ places in the country. Pretty good but I would not rate it that highly. Pulled pork was good, brisket was good, not great (not as good as they do in Texas, sorry St. Louis), chicken was okay. Ribs were a little overcooked for my taste and fell off the bone entirely. Sauces were pretty good, the usual selection of a sweet one, a spicy one and a mustard-based. Sides were pretty good, the real standout was the fried corn- it's just like it sounds, deep fried corn on the cob. It was a little mushy but had an intense corn flavor like I have never tasted before. Only been here once, this place is an institution and there must be a reason, but honestly I've had better.

Efrain

We are visiting Saint Louis Missouri and we had the taste for ribs and while taking the Budweiser tour of the plant we talked to a group of locals who recommended this restaurant and I gotta say, it's delicious. I should have taken a picture of my food but I was too hungry to wait...lol! Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves or just wants to try some great barbecue!

ISU alum2010

Best BBQ I have had in my life hands down. I had the brisket and the pulled pork and they were amazing. Now expect to wait in line and if you get there too late they will run out of stuff. Seating is also limited in inside so if you go there with a large group you will probably not be able to sit together. IT's worth the wait and worth the effort if you like great BBQ.

Bernadette Morgan

Great place to spend time with friends. we come here for feel relaxed some time. everything was superb at this place. amazing food. lovely drinks. we enjoyed a lot. staff was very cooperative. highly recommended.

Kaitlin Schneider

Best BBQ place. Everything on the menu is GREAT. I personally love the ribs and the burnt end sandwich!

Michael Kane

We got there around 7. They were already out of brisket and ribs. I got the pulled pork, which was very good. Also out of beer, except Michelob Ultra, which was weird. If I was to go back, I would go earlier to get the ribs or brisket.

Theresa LaFleur

Great food! Thanks for the great reviews! That's what brought us in!

Kirsten Stunkel

EXCELLENT!!! We tried the pulled pork, pulled chicken and turkey sandwiches. Our sides included fried corn on the cob, baked beans, slaw and potato salad. EVERYTHING was AWESOME! SAUCES are DELICIOUS, too! I recommend JANE'S! We enjoyed the casual setting with lots of fun menus, articles, pics and autographs on the walls to look at! The HOSPITALITY at Pappy's is as AMAZING as their food! Don't let the lines scare you (although they may run out!)! This restaurant is INCREDIBLY well run! They don't miss a beat! Employees are ALL very COURTEOUS, GRACIOUS and HARDWORKING!!! Pappy's is one of my top 5 favorite restaurants in St. Louis! If you visit St. Louis, a meal at Pappy's is a must!!! KUDOS to the owner(s) and staff at Pappy's!!! WE WERE IMPRESSED!!!

Ellie S

My Husband and I love BBQ and while visiting St. Louis over the weekend we had to try some St. Louis style ribs and Pappy's was our first pick. We arrived right at opening to a line out the door (we knew it was going to be good). You wait in line and then they take your order at the window, find your seat and they bring it out to you. We wanted to try everything, so we got the Big Ben, which comes with a pulled pork sandwich, brisket sandwich, full slab of ribs, 1/4 chicken and 4 sides. Absolutely amazing. Best ribs I've had in my life. I cannot wait to come back because this was by far my favorite place in St. Louis!

Beth Wink

The pulled chicken is amazing (best I’ve ever ate) and the ribs were delicious. They had a weird rule where 1 beer per person...and no desserts at all to offer. Also, it was cold in there. I kinda felt rushed. Simply because it was so fast paced and my whole family was freezing. Workers weren’t very personable. The food does make up for any negatives though. Delicious

In St. Louis last week on business and one of my customers that I was visiting took me to Pappy's! This was some of the most incredible BBQ I have ever stuffed my face with! The smokers sit right outside the restaurant and you can smell the cooking goodness two blocks away as you drive up Olive Street. There is nothing fancy about this BBQ joint but the food is completely worth traveling across this country to try it. The brisket was the best I have ever had and the ribs were simply amazing. There are several sauces, made from scratch that you can add to your meat choice. However, the caramel goodness of the seasoning bark that is cooked on the meat is perfect just by its own. I have had really good BBQ all over this great country of ours but Pappy's, they have nailed it and it will be a hard one to beat. It is number one of my top ten BBQ joints.

Gail Andrews

True to its reputation, the ribs were the best that I've ever had. It's worth the drive, even from hours away. If you're passing through St. Louis, you really should give it a try, it's kinda a once in a lifetime thing. Sweet potato fries were pretty remarkable too, with just the right amount of brown sugar.

Lisa Marie Idzikowski

So tasty! Rub vs. sauce, this rub was the best. Plenty of sauces to try on the table. Whole family enjoyed the ribs! Can't wait to go back. Go earlier, don't be intimated by the line, it is worth it, but when they run out they are done.

Amanda Cairns

First time trying this place, since most of our friends highly recommended it. Loved it! They are very organized and awesome food and customer service.

John F

All I can say is WOW! We had my son’s rehearsal dinner in Pappy’s private room this past week and it was fantastic. The room was the perfect size, it looked great, the food was delicious and the cost was terrific for a BBQ dinner. From the time we walked in, until the end we were put at easy by Hardin and Matt. My concern with a buffet was running out of food and Hardin assured me that wouldn’t be an issue and if by chance it was, more food would be brought over from the main dining area. He was right and we ended up taking a lot of food home for lunches the next day. Hardin and Matt were extremely friendly and knew exactly when to offer suggestions without being intrusive. There was an issue with music in the room and Hardin used his own iPhone and Spotify account to provide us with background music. Thank you Hardin and Matt for helping to make it a great night.

Perla Ramirez

I can plainly remember the first time we, as a family experienced Pappy's. The ribs were practically falling off the bone and the lines were around the building. This last time we went, made it feel like it was all a dream. The meat was tough, unflavorful, and the sides were 'meh'. Growth is great, but it should not come at the cost of quality.

David Anderson

We unfortunately got to Pappy's when there was a line (about 2pm) - line was long and took a while, but they are definitely prepared for the lines! Food was great and worth the wait (my family might argue differently).

Mommy Beck

The ribs were something to talk about! Our daily ordered two racks and finished them all! So full and so delicious. We also had the fried corn and sweet potato fries which were cooked to perfection. Only downside was that someone didn't follow the proper rules and took our table before we made it through line and were seated. The attendant made it right just stunk that someone would be so smug and rude to do that!

Echo Kimball

It is amazing and I'm not just saying that because my husband cooks there. Haha The Smoked meats are the best! Yes they have great tasting sauces....do you need them though....NO you do not. That is how great the BBQ is. My favorites are the burnt ends and ribs of course but the Turkey was surprisingly very good as well...I get it just as often as I do the ribs.

Derek Brifu

The food is phenomenal! The sauces are great. Very generous portions. Fair price. I'm coming back for those burnt ends. They were sold out.

Kalvin Gill

This place is amazing!! We enjoyed a delicious meal and the service was very efficient and quick. Get the brisket!!

Cherie Norquay

Our whole family ate here for lunch. Everyone agreed it was the best food ever. Family friendly and fast

Brad Mueller

Great food, fast service, tons of seating and friendly staff! Food prices are good and burnt ends were fantastic! I just wish there was a hotter sauce than what they offer but they do have a range of sauces for everyone!

dhebby viernes

Delicious food and large portions. The staff was very efficient and friendly. We ordered the Big Ben and the portions fed 4 people 2 of which were our 2 BIG boys. GET THERE EARLY as the place fills up QUICKLY and there was still a line after we left. Parking was tight but plenty of open spots.

veteran011

The best BBQ joint I've ever been to. It's worth the wait. Always get their ribs but also recently had their burnt ends and was amazed. Meat is so good I feel bad putting sauce on it. Ribs have an amazing caramelized rub on the outside that's smokey and sweet. Always fall-off-the-bone tender and juicy. Be advised, they DO run out of meats so either go for lunch or call ahead before dinner to make sure they have what you want.

Ann Bigelow

I'm not usually a big fan of ribs....but this place has the BEST ribs I have ever had! They were so good and just fell off the bone. Food was served quickly. Would recommend getting there early as they are busy! Will definitely stop there again the next time we are in St. Louis and I highly recommend you do too!

Brian Leigh

Ribs were tender without falling off the bone; cooked to perfection. The smoke ring was prominent and the ribs were lightly wet which only enhanced the slightly sweet flavor of the rub. Best ribs I've had in a while

Arlene Romero

I came here for a concert that was in town from the night before. As a native from Chicago, I can vouch that they have the best ribs that I have ever tasted. The line was insanely long but I sucked it up because I heard that the ribs from here were the bomb from the receptionist at the hotel that I was staying at. The servers were nice and the staff was great. At one point, the owner was walking around and thanking everyone for our service and to check up on us; if everything was good and if we were satisfied. This place is insanely clean and the staff is just fantastic. The food didn’t take long to arrive at my table. The food was hot and delicious. If I’m to ever visit again, I’m definitely stopping by!!

Eric Weiss

Amazing ribs. A must try when you are in town

April Makay

Any time in the area a must go. Amazing ribs, burnt ends, deep fried corn on the cob. Friendly and efficient even with huge crowds and lines. Worth the wait.

Emory Oliver

Everything was AMAZING. I believe it's the best bar b Que around. We even loved the t shirts they had on display and had to get some of them. You need to check them out. There are long lines, but is really worth the wait.

Cathy Ramos

Excellent bar b q. Long wait in line. Recommend calling ahead and getting it to go.

Tanya Hamilton

Food was amazing! Best BBQ we've ever had! Family friendly atmosphere. Will definitely be going back

Chad Reynolds

Simply AMAZING food. John, founder, is just an all around good guy. It is worth the wait in line.

Tina Brown

Everything tasted great and the ribs were extremely tender. I wished the sauces had a bit more kick to them. The Hoodoo was rated 7/10 but honestly it was more like 2/10 and I'm not even a big spicy-food guy. The corn and sweet potato fries are awesome too, I could imagine not getting the corn as a side next time.

Emily Chandler

Amazing. There was a line outside that looked super long. It went very fast and was so worth it. This is a need to try place in st.louis. dont worry about the line!!!

col4077th

It's ok. Pricey but portions are reasonable. At least in regards to pork, people tell me mine is better and seasoned better. Sauces are really good there.

Cathy Pabst

Pappy's was very good!! I never had fried corn on the cob before today and Loved it! My daughter had the catfish sandwich from Southern and she loved that as well; unfortunately we had to pull life support from my brother at SLUH and he passed. He was very very ill and there was no hope left. Your kindness and ease with everything made a difficult time a bit easier. Hopefully the next time we're there, it will be for a happy occasion.

Jen Perlis-Glassman

8 Chicago boys give it one million stars!!!!! So delicious. Great staff, wonderful service, and clean environment. Best barbeque around

Dave Cronkrite

Love this place! Easy, low-key, great food and staff. Interesting things to look at on walls. Mostly, great bbq. From Texas, we have had bbq all over the country. Pappy's is top tier.

Susan Rice

Delicious smoked BBQ, possibly the best ribs I've ever had. Lots of staff around to assist with dining room clean up and knowledge about their smoking process. Get there early! The wait is worth it.

Lynn Puhr

Raises the bar on smoked meats and the sauces. Wow. Get there early. When they sell out, they close. And they always sell out.

Chad D

Food was amazing! Ribs were out of this world... staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. We went early afternoon on a weekday and was able to get right in and food was delivered quickly and hot. Sauces were wonderful. We couldn't decide, so we got a little of everything. Definitely recommend Pappy's to all my friends and family.

Chad Henneman

Great food, great service. If you enjoy bbq you have to try it.

Felicia Litherland

Good food, great and friendly employees, and very clean! Great stop for a budgeted honeymoon.

Lea Wimbley

Awesome food. Ribs are excellent. But burnt ends and brisket were phenomenal! Try sweet potato fries, stay away from Cole slaw.

melissa brown

Amazing bbq. Can't beat this establishment. Just have to go there early be4 bbq is gone. Will keep dinning here.

Mary Watkins

I have ordered to-go (whole rib platter) and attended a couple of their pop-up events ($10 rib deal) but the restaurant didnt make me feel welcomed. Employees checked on 2 of my coworkers multiple times while we were having a meeting. Sides need to be bigger for the price of "combo plates"

Jason R. Best

Hands down... This one of the best barbecue ribs I've had. This is First of my top 5's as of 2019. The customer service is also excellent. Food service is quick. 2-5 minutes for my food shown.

Brenda Waldron

BBQ.. The BEST I have ever had. Mouth watering. Falls off the bone! Generous portions. FAST GOOD SERVICE. STAFF IS FRIENDLY. We were asked several times by staff if we needed anything. If everything was good.. Pricing is right. From the time we ordered to the time we got our drinks and to our seats was no more than 7 mins, if that. Yet the food was hot and delicious. You really do not need sauce for the ribs as they are seasoned just right. The brisket was tender and so yummy. The chicken was as well. We chose the beans, potato salad, cole slaw and corn on the cob. They also did NOT disappoint. WOW! I would give you more stars if I could. Do NOT pass up eating here.

Chris Sellers

We went here because of the rave reviews and seeing it on Man vs. Food. First, get here early and prepare to wait. This place is very popular and there will be a wait. The people here are super friendly so the wait wasn’t that bad. The food was served fast and was awesome!

Dale Ficken

Great food and great atmosphere. Tried the Frito pie recently and it was quite good... And very filling.

Flor B

Good BBQ and great service. I thought the original sauce was delicious

Esther Beck

Very fast carryout. Friendly atmosphere. And some of the most delicious succulent BBQ you will ever eat in your life.

Jeromy Kay

Everything tasted great and the ribs were extremely tender. I wished the sauces had a bit more kick to them. The Hoodoo was rated 7/10 but honestly it was more like 2/10 and I'm not even a big spicy-food guy. The corn and sweet potato fries are awesome too, I could imagine not getting the corn as a side next time.

Kevin Kinkade

While the meats are superb (ribs especially) the sides are something special. You can't go wrong with any of the sides, I personally love the green beans and sweet potato fries but they are all great.

David Johnny

I went when they just opened. By the time I sat down, there was a line out the door. Hoo Doo & Carolina Vinegar are the best sauces. I got the Adam Bomb and shared it. It's a like a super platter so you can taste a little of everything, (almost everything). A must go if you're in St. Louis.

I must do for foodies in St Louis.... the best barbecue reasonably priced with a great menu to try. It was also once featured on the TV show "Man vs Food," now there is a plate named after the host Adam called "The Adam Bomb" This visit, I had the pulled chicken sandwich with some applesauce for a very tasty lunch!

Brian Zeman

Simply amazing! Great food, great staff, great atmosphere! Highly recommend stopping by. Don't be dissuaded by the line, it moves fast. They've got the system down. Will be sure to stop by next time we're in town.

The bbq is good, but for someone like me that prefers spice (hot) over sweet this wasn't for me. My husband loved the ribs though. Staff was very attentive too.

J M

Absolutely everything is phenomenal. It's hard to pick a favourite but if I had to it would be the burnt ends and potato salad

Nicki Kalz

Scrumptious, authentic Memphis-style BBQ in a no-frills setting. These people know what they're doing! Before ordering, a worker gave me a tour of their smoker. The meat is smoked for nearly 18 hours over apple and cherry wood. It lends quite a different flavor than mesquite, but just as tasty. I sampled both the chicken and pork briskets. Very, very tender. The portions are extremely generous, especially for the price. The sauces and sides do not disappoint either. Pappy's is passionate about BBQ, and it shows through excellent meat and great service.

Rio

Ribs were dry but tasty. Sauce was bomb. Slaw was the star.

I have been to Pappy's I think four or five times now and they are always delicious. Today we happened to be in the area and stopped in. Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait in the line all the way out and around (but have many times and it's worth it!). We waited less than 10 minutes today. As always the ribs were fall off the bone amazing. I am always a fan of the fried corn on the cob and the sweet potato fries. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Jason had the baked beans and pulled pork- both tasty, too! Another favorite of mine is their burnt ends, so much flavor!! I like eating it with the thick bread served on the bottom. The brisket is a solid choice, too! Pepsi products are available and they have cookies for dessert. We brought many of my family members from out of town here the day after our wedding and it was a huge hit! Everyone left with full bellies!

James Runge

The BEST brisket I've ever had. Amazing flavor without just getting it from fat. Get there early because its vary popular.

Christine Robinson

I was in town for work and heard about Pappy's from a few different people. We checked it out and enjoyed our food. They're is a long long line, but it moves super quickly and the food comes out so fast. Within a minute or two of sitting down we had our food. St Louis brisket is cut differently than any other brisket I've had. So if you're thinking you'll be getting a super tender piece of meat that is like a beef roast, but not, think again. It was very thinly sliced, almost like roast beef, but more tender. This wasn't exclusive to Pappy's; I tried brisket elsewhere and it was the same style. I had beans and potato salad for sides. I'd skip the potato salad and try something different. My friends had the green beans and the corn on the cob and enjoyed both.

Awesome food... great staff. Did I mention great staff??

Steven Exelby

Food was great. We ordered online, order was ready when we arrived. We ordered to go so didn't eat in. Loved the original sauce. Ribs, brisket, pulled pork, sweet potato fries all very good. Cole slaw was unusual but i liked it. Green beans weren't really cooked so only negative thing.

John Lee

Good bbq. Prices little steep but good pappy sauce. Would try the brisket.

Alexis Stark

I was in Saint Louis for work and a local recommended this place for lunch. I walk in and was greeted and shown where to stand to order. Also was told that they have the best ribs in the country voted by The Food Network. They were not kidding. The ribs were amazing. I also had the baked beans with it and enjoyed them as well. Service was prompt and friendly. Very much a place that I would visit again.

Chris Hulsey

I went St. Louis for a ball game typed best Bbque in Google and bye golly it was the best ribs I have ever ate, even better then my smoked ribs that I so do love. The staff was awesome and the food was out of this world. I will be driving back there just for ribs.

Wanted to try some BBQ while in St Louis. This place had good reviews and had won an award so we tried it. You wait in line to order, then get your own beverage before sitting down. We both got combo meals. The food came out quickly. There was a nice sized portion. It's all self service. You get your own drink refills. Four kinds of sauces are on each table. Our food was good.

John Timas

You can blind pick what you want here and be VERY happy with your choice. What you get for your money is well worth it and I've eaten here on many occasions. When I had clients come in from out of state I would bring them here and they looked concerned at first as it's not your typical business lunch restaurant, but we'd all leave happy, belly full of good food and ready to continue on. The brisket to me is the best, bust I also like the ribs and man the pulled pork is crazy good. This is a must eat place if you're in St. Louis.

Carla Kilman

Had an amazing time here! Great food and great service. The atmosphere was very laid back. You can't call ahead for reservations so there's a long line during peak times with standing only. But, once you order your food comes out quickly and it's well worth the wait! Probably the best ribs I've ever had!

Jason Wescoat

There's a reason everyone loves it...that's because it's amazing. Also, if you're not doing the ribs, you're doing it wrong. I take customers here all the time and 100% of the feedback has been positive, so it's not just me.

Kevin Dobbins

What can I say that hasn't already been said in 100s of other reviews? I've never eaten at a restaurant this popular! We arrived for lunch on a Tuesday, about 10 minutes after they opened. The restaurant was already filling up. By the time we left, about 45 minutes later, I heard the wait for a table was at least 30 minutes! The food arrived very fast & hot. Some of the best pulled pork I've had. The fried corn on the cob was a bit tough to eat. The applesauce was 'chunky' and not pureed like other applesauces. Delicious!

Gary Gustafson

The barbecue is delicious! We tried the brisket, pulled pork, ribs and burnt ends. The burnt ends had a sauce on them and the flavors made my mouth water. Each of the meats had were fantastic. The sides were both great! The baked beans were sweet and mild. The applesauce was chunky and had cinnamon sprinkled on top. We had to wait in line about 20 minutes to place our orders. By the time we were through eating, the line was out the door, easily an hour wait. We will definitely return if we visit St. Louis again!

Chadd Herron

Well worth the drive. Came from Detroit to Arkansas to Oklahoma to Pappy's. My 3rd time eating here. Have had BBQ all over the country, this is some of the best. Had ribs and brisket, both were amazing!!

Bob Grant

It's the true meaning of BBQ.. everything we had was amazing!! And all the staff was friendly and courteous! Great place to eat!

Are 5 stars enough for greatness? Are 5 of anything good enough to denote value or worth to a business with so much quality as to set the standard by which all other barbecue establishments are measured against? I dare say not. Google, you should know better than to only allow 5 stars at most to label such a place as this. Give me all the stars in our galaxy! All the stars! Then we will have a starting point. We will no longer settle for a measly 5 stars to show for greatness! Today we make the stand! For Pappy's: 1 Quadrazillion stars! And that's only for the service. Dont even get me started on the food. There aren't enough stars in our reality or enough words allowed in this post to elaborate on such magnificence.

Joseph Batie

Get there early - they really don’t reheat and the food is great. I was too late for the Burnt Ends so I’ll save that for my next visit to STL! I had a half rack of ribs, fried corn, and potato salad - with a beer I paid about $24! Sounds like a lot but I had leftovers!!! The ribs were smoked to perfection- meaty and tender with great flavor! Tried a few of the sauces on the table, which were all good, but the ribs without the sauce were the way to go for me.

Alexandra Cooper

Oh. My. Ribs! This place is no joke, the best ribs of life are served here! So delicious, no gristle in sight, just perfectly moist ribs! We went during the lunch rush but after we left there was zero line, but really the food was worth the wait! The smell of the place is incredible! The sides were tasty but the star of the meal was definitely the ribs (burnt ends were divine too). I also liked that they had a selection of Fitzs soda here, another classic St.Louis find!

Amazing ribs! Love the Hoodoo sauce! Super friendly staff and the atmosphere is a great one. I will definitely be coming back!

Derrick Hamilton

It was wonderful. But then again it always taste splendid

Susan Constantin

Pappy's was great as always. Tonight my husband and I had the burnt ends sandwiches...they were DELICIOUS! The sides were awesome too, be sure to try the potato salad and green beans. YUM!

Rebecca Weinrich

I love Pappy's. It is the BEST BBQ in STL!!!! The best ribs in town.

Kevin Carroll

Perfect . Food , staff everything. Over 100 people in line to open, in and out quickly, very efficient. Employees all really nice . Food was excellent. I would not change a thing .

josue hernandez

BBQ was good, my personal favorite is still BBQ from Texas but this came close. Line on the weekend was a little long but to be expected considering the euphoria behind Pappy’s. Staff were accommodating and helpful overall.

Josh Reed

I had a Full Rack of Ribs, Fried Corn on the Cob and Baked Beans. I had heard that the ribs were voted 'The Best in America' and I wasn't disappointed. The ribs were the best I've ever had and the corn and beans were delicious!!

G Leenhouts

My taste buds exploded. Turkey! Brisket! Baked Beans! Apple sauce! Best BBQ I ever had.

Jeni Weidenbenner

First visit to Pappy's & it was as awesome as reputed! The sweet potato fries were delectable, and ribs were tender and delicious. I'll definitely visit again, and I'll get there a bit before opening to minimize time in line!

Harvest Account

Amazing place and Security in front named Sheila treated us like royalty. Lady has a ton of energy and all the recommendations... made our family’s feel at home at the place. Food is amazing!!!

Brad Ladwig

So good and worth the wait. I sampled the ribs, turkey, pulled pork and brisket and would rank them best to good in that order. Also tried the green beans, baked beans, potato salad and cole slaw - all of which were fantastic. Sauces were pretty great as well. The only critical comment I could come up with is I was a bit disappointed to see the first ingredient in the Sweet Baby Jane sauce is high fructose corn syrup. Highly recommend, will definitely go back. Just be sure you are not in a hurry.

CaseyRhea Stout

Great food and service as usual! Get the Turkey, you will not be disappointed!

John Hopkins

Best ribs in the city, hands down. Make sure you try the sweet potato fries too. If you don't like lines, be sure to order carry-out. The place is so good that the line will regularly wrap outside the building. It's a 30 min wait once you hit the inside corner. Highly recommend for any BBQ tourist. No need to recommend for any local, as you've already been, or are a vegetarian. Not judging - vegetarianism is a great choice, but why are you reading reviews on a BBQ joint?

R Shaw

Good food. Good service. Hard to find a parking space- take a Lyft instead.

Brook Goddard

Was in St. Louis for the day and after visiting the Gateway Arch my girlfriend and I decided to try out some barbecue. After doing a search, Pappy's showed as being one of the more popular and well known barbecue joints in St. Louis so we headed over. Was concerned that there might be a wait but since it was mid afternoon on a Monday we were able to walk right in and order and was eating some fine barbecue within a few minutes. I ordered the beef brisket platter and my girlfriend settled on the pulled pork platter. Both were extremely good as were the sides, sweet potato fries, baked beans, and green beans. I would definitely recommend trying Pappy's if your ever in St. Louis even if there is a line!
