Most excellent chinese buffet in the St.Louis and metro area. The food is fresh and delicious. Spacious and comfortable seating. Chinese favorites as well as other interesting dishes on the moderate size buffet. Lunch prices are cheap. Good service!

There are a few great options here. If you don't know what you want, you can do the buffet. You can order off their extensive menu of traditional Chinese food. The one that we are looking forward to is the all you can eat hot pot. We haven't tried it yet but it looks and smells great. Most recently we just got the buffet, the flavor is better than most buffets and they kept it fresh.

I've never had a bad experience at Joy Luck buffet. Well, not one that was due to anything at the restaurant, but that's another story. For review purposes my experiences at Joy Luck have been unmarred. I love a good buffet, and this restaurant has a good selection of food. In addition to the buffet that includes typical, but deliciously prepared staples such as lo mein noodles, crab rangoon, peel and eat shrimp, Kung Pao chicken, there is also a station where you pick your own ingredients and sauces and someone cooks it on a grill top for you. This station, along with their serve your ice cream station are the two weakest elements in the restaurant because sometimes you have to hunt down an employee to prepare your food and the water that the ice cream scoop rests in is a little murky looking and probably should be changed more frequently. As with most buffets, Joy Luck has two different price points. It is cheaper to eat before 4 p.m. after that the price increases significantly without very much change in the buffet. If my memory serves me correctly they sometimes have crab legs after 4 p.m., but possibly only on certain days. I recommend going in earlier you're not missing much dining after 4 p.m., besides an increase in your bill. The staff is pretty friendly and they come by often to refill your drinks, but they don't do too much because it's a self-serve buffet.

One of very few Chinese buffets where I could tell without a doubt that the food was prepared well and up to standards. The food was fresh and tasted better than most other buffets (best in St. Louis). On top of that the service was very good and the man at the front desk was very patient and helpful when I came back later having lost my receipt. 5/5 definitely recommended.

Everything I ate here was fresh and delicious! The only thing I can complain about is the lack of selection. It's a smaller place, but less variety means they can focus more on quality. They also could have refilled the drinks a little more often, but they did alright the way they were doing it.

Not a huge buffet person. But this is my favorite Chinese buffet in town. The roasted chicken thighs on the hot side and seaweed salad on the cold side are amazing! However!! Don't go within the last hour of them being open! The kitchen crew stands and watches you eat... Then about 20 minutes before close, they bring the hoses and water out for the floors and it's like a stampede to rush people out of there.. Very disappointing. I'll just keep going way early

Joy Luck has their own parking lot and can be easily missed if you are driving too fast. It doesn't look like much on the outside but it is actually pretty good. The buffet is decent if you need a quick Chinese food fix. I highly recommend the Chinese Hot Pot which is all you can eat. It was about $25 per person but so worth it. The hot pot included seafood, a variety of meats, tofu, noodles, and fresh vegetables. Also, there is a large variety of broths you can choose from. Overall, the staff members are prompt, not as polite, but they were not rude either. They did tend to our needs as much as they could and it was a busy Friday night.

Good, solid buffet. Lots of choices, and most are labeled if you aren't sure what something is. All the traditional favorites are there - lo mein, crab rangoon, egg rolls, fried rice, etc. The dessert didn't look great, but I honestly didn't try it, so maybe it's good lol.

I'm an idiot that keeps thinking I might have a good experience here. I don't usually complain about restaurants, but this is the most disgusting place I've ever been in St. Louis.. all 3 times. Sticky rice, undercooked meat, poorly washed dishes (lipstick stain on cup, not mine), filthy bathrooms, rude staff, . I can keep going. I'm surprised this place hasn't been shut down yet. Please don't eat here.

Hands down the best chinese buffet I've ever been to. We went at 3:00 and pretty much everything was fresh. This place has hot pot, sushi and buffet hibachi also, but I just stuf to the regular lunch buffet. The only thing I would change is they dont have a very high selection of dessert. Icecream and cheesecake are main staples of chinese buffet dessert, but I didnt see either. It was 17 for my husband and I love the experience!

For a 10.50 dinner buffet I really couldn't give this place fewer stars (unless if we had gotten sick, which I we did not). For a Chinese buffet this place does not offer many vegetarian options. There are mostly shrimp and chicken, and the dishes aren't always well labeled. The "baked mushrooms" for instance are stuffed with beef, which I believe is something important to label. And the sushi and desert bar is not labeled at all. Besides those complaints the food is pretty good and they do a pretty good job at making sure food is out and not empty.

The quality of this buffet has gone down quite a bit in the ten years that my family and I have been going here. So many of the dishes seem to taste very much alike, and they all seem to have a sweet taste as opposed to a truly savory dish being just that, savory. Not cooked in and sitting in the same sweet sauce as 90% of the entree dishes. Waitstaff used to be absolutely wonderful, friendly and engaging....appreciative of their patrons business. Now, I find so many of them rude, unfriendly, and tolerant. I don't recommend this place anymore.

Great variety of food on buffet, $10.95 for buffet on Friday. They automatically charged gratuity, which is fine, but SERVICE was non-existant. We had to ask for drink refills. Exterior is disgusting, signs are faded and over 20 years old. Invest in your appearance on the outside. Probably won't make e xtra trip to go there for these reasons!

The buffet is pretty standard. They have a fairly good selection of sushi rolls (no nigiri), and a nice selection for their Mongolian grill. The big draw for this restaurant is their hotpot. If you're not familiar with hotpot it's a pot of flavored broth (here they use chicken broth) that you dip meats, vegetables and tofu into. Japanese sukiyaki and shabu-shabu are better known examples. After you've finished you, usually will drink a few cups of the broth. The hotpot here is excellent.

My number 1 in St. LOUIS! MENU AND BUFFET, sushi hot pot, hibachi, Deelicious! The menu looks like a portfolio and is Extensive and affordable. Wish they were friendlier, and i try to go earlier in the weekend so i don't get a number to wait. Love this place, but design the entrance. It looks uninviting, trashy and needs landscaping.

I came with a group of 9 people during lunch hours. The staff was very attentive and accommodating. The large round table was perfect for our group. The food that was available was very good and well prepared. Sea food was very limited. No sushi at all that I could find. (It is possible I just didn't see it) However, there was some roasted fish fillets and a couple shrimp dishes. Chicken was available pretty much any way you can imagine, but pork and beef was almost non-existent. I would give a higher rating for this buffet-style restaurant if there was more variety. On the other hand, the price was very reasonable for the value received. Empty dishes disappeared almost immediately and drinks remained full. I walked out of there totally stuffed! It was a very enjoyable lunch with a bunch of friends. Bottom line is I would recommend this place.

Look for the seaweed salad and the spicy hot pickled bamboo shoots to start. I especially liked the shrimp dishes and there were several. The stuffed mushrooms and the stir fried green beans were wonderful too.There was a delicious chicken dish with onion, red and green peppers.The fried rice was a miss it was dried out and hard as if it had been refrigerated then reheated in an oven and left in the oven too long.Other than that quite a delicious meal . I will come back again.

Worst Chinese buffet I've ever been too, I could do better in the frozen section of the grocery store. Potstickers were frozen hard nasty, chicken was dry and tasteless. The hibachi didnt even cook the noodles or vegetables through. It was terrible. Never in my life have I refused to pay for food, but today I did. Disappointing I guess I'll stick to fast food when in st. Louis.

Gone downhill. We hadn't been here in about a year, but it looked really worn down since our last visit. Awning outside was falling apart. Seats were absurdly worn down. Like really really worn down. Really. Most of the food was still good. Much of the booth backs and hardware throughout the restaurant looked like it hasn't been wiped down for a while, ie greasy fingerprints. Much of this seems to be "Running a Restaurant 101", but evidently not in practice here. I was scared to eat, but my partner hates if when I say "we should leave" after entering an establishment. Don't think we'll ever be back. Sad...it's hard to find a good Chinese buffet anymore.

All you can eat Sushi for buffet prices, what more can you ask for? The rest of the food is pretty good as well, I can nit pick on a few things, but what I really go there for is always going to be the sushi. I wish I would have bothered to learn the guy's name who makes it all the time, He's the true hero. Clean establishment, save for the Men's room which sometimes has water on the floor from other patrons making a mess and not telling someone about it, or cleaning it up. We're all adults, please clean up after yourself, or let the staff know a mess was made. Don't leave it for someone else to walk in on.

I was charged $5 for my 2 year old who had two bites of food from my plate. The Crab Rangoon was pretty solid which is why it got the second star. Everything else was subpar, except the dessert bar which was just sad. The sushi was okay but nothing to write home about. The fish on top was super thin, old, and generally just not that good, but the California rolls were okay. Overall I would NOT recommend this location.

We love this place!!!! I've been coming here years, the buffet is massive, food is pretty darn good for the price....and if your in a hurry the buffet is $1 off if you get it to-go. They give you a styrofoam box, and a round cup with a lid and you can put whatever and as much as you want into it.

The buffet looks ok but we didn't eat it. We ate off of the authentic sichuan menu, which had a large variety of dishes. The flavors are styles were authentic (think cold beef tendon in chili oil) but some dishes were oversalted. That's why I give only four stars. We would still come back, though, to get more authentic Chinese food in the STL area.

Great place to eat since the young people took over. My family stops there often for lunch while we're out shopping. Food is hot and buffet area is kept clean. Don't like the sunroom area though. Too congested. Should have knocked out some walls when they remodeled.

The food was okay here. Buffet was the same typical American Chinese style. Ordered from the menu, turned out okay. The service was a bit off, I thought. The server is not checking on you, constantly have to look and wave one down. Overall it was just okay...

I enjoy eating at JoyLuck. I find eat peaceful and clean. The staff does well with getting your empty plates removed from table. They seem to always be on top of their dishes making sure its presentable and ready. Only thing to mention is that its time for some of their seat to be replaced or reupholster

Worst dining experience ever. It was 106 degrees outside.....and Joy Luck had no air on that day. Really?? Can"t afford to run the air or just to cheap to run it. The buffet food was bland and everything was steam soggy. I will never eat there again.

Don't arrive late, or you will get stale foods. We arrived after visiting St. Louis zoo, around 3pm and the food was left over from lunch. Also not very fresh, or variety. The hibachi bar falls. Over all, I would not recommend to anyone. Better off going to burger king or McDonald's. Or somewhere else.

Food and price are really sweet. If you like the traditional Chinese food. I really suggest here. But their waiter not ask me too much. (Maybe they are really busy cause one waiter have to take care too many tables) so I think maybe future they need hire more waiter. I really believe their food is 5 stars.

Didn't meet our expectations. Buffet wasn't great at all. Only thing I can say good was green beans. If ever stop by next time, will skip the buffet and look into the menu. Otherwise, no thank you next time!

$25.99 for Hot Pot all-you-can-eat, cannot ask for more. Which found out after the server sat us down that the price also includes the regular buffet that is a bonus. Personally I will not come here just for the ordinary Chinese buffet, caught a glimpse over the buffet table nothing stood out, almost sup par at best. However the Hot Pot part is way better.

Dried out food, some dishes scortched in pans, some food ( fried chicken, ribs, and other cooked meats) like warm on the buffet. Nothing fabulous or mediocre in flavor. I would choose fast food over this buffet, and I am not fond of fast food.

Such an oddity! My partner and I were just lamenting about how unfortunate it was that our favorite Chinese buffet was no longer in business when we decided to take a gamble and try somewhere totally new... Enter Joy Luck! We're were happy we should this place, with tasty fresh food, a moderately well kept facility, friendly attentive staff, and reasonable prices this place is sure to fit the bill. I did find their selection a little bit lacking, competitively to competitors I have been to, but I couldn't in good conscience give this business any less than a solid four out of five... But it wouldn't be fair if I didn't admit it felt a bit... Confusing in some ways... Old buffet tables and well, well worn booths contrast seemingly brand new LED chandeliers and retro-styled wall openings between rooms... It felt like a new business owner was trying to breathe life into their business and while the effort was palpable, it felt like it just came short of expectations at times... It was certainly a first for me! Will go back and see how it evolved over time!

The food was fresh and there was a good selection. I was surprised how good the fried chicken wings were. Go to a Chinese Buffet and love the chicken wings...who knew? And don't miss the ice cream cooler in the rear dining area. It's hiding back there, but offers some cool flavors like birthday cake and mint chip.

When I used to work nearby I used to come at lunchtime and gorge myself silly. Glutton, what a delight. But there's only so much abuse your body can take, right? But if your metabolism is high or you burn tons of calories, knock yourself out. They have row after row of all your favorites, all for a good price. It's clean and they have their own parking lot.

BE AWARE: The food was excellent, but when I went to pay, they added on a gratuity for me.... I have a problems with someone telling me how much I am supposed to tip... I believe in tipping waitstaff based on how they perform not just because they are there... When I asked about this he said it is because some people don’t tip, So basically I have to pay extra for those who don’t tip. He said this was common practice , but there was no signs posted and we weren’t made aware before dining.... And just so we are clear, this is a self serve establishment, the young lady who was supposed to wait on us had to be directed to refill drinks etc.... not worthy of 18% gratuity..... will not be back....

Love this place, me and my boyfriend always try to go here when we r together and hungry. Highly recommend it. Love the varieties of chinese food. They even have breaded catfish which is awesome. Seasoned well and crunchy. Very inexpensive for two ppl. Go during lunchtime if you want some catfish. Other than that this place is a A+.

The food is as to be expected from a buffet, and their sauces are very sugary. But there is a large selection, and more seafood than typically seen in buffets. They also offer sushi. Place was dirty and could stand to be updated. Likely won't return any time soon.
