Friendly service and delicious dishes. One of the best meatloaf dinners I've ever had (sorry Mom). Tacos were flavorful and not greasy. Affordable meals and huge portions. Had to take half of our meals home. No wonder this restaurant has been open since 1970. This was out of our way, but well worth the detour. We will be back again for sure. If you haven't been to George's, take a chance. You won't be sorry.

We chose this restaurant because of the good reviews it had. We were not disappointed! The waitress greeted us immediately and she was very friendly. My husband got breakfast and said it was fantastic (I tried some of his biscuits & gravy...delicious!!) I had the chicken breast with swiss cheese and onions. The salad was fresh and tasty. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the cole slaw was the best!!! (And I am picky about cole slaw.) I will definitely go again and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. The prices were also very reasonable. Two thumbs up for this gem!!!

Tried this place out on a recommendation, sure glad we did! Cute place, friendly family atmosphere. The biscuits and gravy are probably the best I've ever had! The waiters and waitresses are chipper and very good at their jobs(tip well.. Good kids!) Don't sit by the front door... You'll freeze to death - lol. Most things are Denny's style with a home cooked appeal and flavor, and the portions are plenty for the price. Make sure you leave room for their cake and pie selection(its huge!) and everything in the case is fresh and yummy! We now go back at least weekly for lunch or a quick bite in the afternoon... Tell em' Russ and Randy sent ya!!! #ENJOY! P.S.- try the mountain of whipped cream covered HOT CHOCOLATE.. You will be glad you did!

Food was decent but my small shrimp and flounder was over priced for a lunch special. $14.01. Everything was served using styrofoam plates and cups. Thought it was kinda weird that I was the only person that was given Plastic silverware when everyone else had metal. I will say the seafood is much better at Turluck's accross the street but they are closed on Monday and Tuesday. I will say that this place does offer several other lunch specials that ate reasonable in price and look great. I will return when back in this area to try other items on the menu. Until then, 3 stars is all I can give.

I firmly believe that George's is sort of a hidden breakfast gem of Springfield. It seems to be a popular place for our local seniors, but I really couldn't recommend it any higher than I actually do. There's not a breakfast joint anywhere in Greene County, that I would recommend more highly. I must admit that I've had very little of their entire menu and do basically always get the same thing, their biscuits and gravy (which, for the record - I have had better, though not by much, but this is the best I've ever had at the best price I've ever had). The service is always pretty stellar, the food (when I do branch out from my regular) is always really good, but their prices are basically unbeatable for truly quality breakfast food. If you want good breakfast and you don't wanna break the bank, while also being served by staff who seem keen to make sure you leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face, the answer is George's.

I went to George's with my grandfather "Its her birthday" he had told our waitress and without even asking she came out with my plate and put a single candle in my waffle. I had the buffet with water. My bill total was $8.75. I left a $2 tip. When balancing the credit card statement the tip miraculously changed to $4. It is easy to change a 2 into a 4. All you do is draw a horizontal line from the front of the 2. The result is theft. You might say that it isn't much but the point is when should it be prosecuted? $5, $10 or more? I'm not going back. And I don't recommend this establishment.

The food and the service was phenomenal! Our server, Josh, was awesome! When explaining to Josh that our 4 year had to come to Springfield for a procedure so she hadn’t eaten all the day before and that day as well, he made sure to bring her some yogurt right away to get her started and even made sure to get her other food out to her before our food came out. I was really touched that he truly cared enough to make sure she got to eat right away and kept checking in. Very family oriented place. We will definitely eat here again!

Food was good service was good will do again, prices are better there is a menu option called "recession proof" that's 2 eggs, a meat and a grain for 2.99 before 11am and 4.99 after 11am, a great deal. That and coffee was 5.98, good breakfast price. The food was warm but not hot, I prefer my food hot so there was room for.improvement there. Also, the buildings interior is extremely echoy which makes it loud even when they aren't super busy. Over all will do again, but meeting up there for casual conversation can be difficult because there is a lot of background noise that's really loud. Keep in mind if that's what you're going for, also, warmer food when served would be nice. Otherwise, absolutely check out the place the service is amazing.

I love this place! I travel for work and ho out of my way to stay at hotel next to georges just for the salad bar. Salad bar is supposed to be until 9pm. I keep driving an extra hour to get here in time only to find that they shut the salad bar down early at 8pm. This is terrible. Honor your hours please. Such a shame because its such an amazing place with great food! I may have to find another place with a salad bar that is consistent. I truly hope owners read and respond to this. This was posted yesterday. Tonight i came back. It is 927pm. Doors locked. Neon sign says open. Hours on sign say open until 10pm. People inside eating. They CLOSED early. Pathetic. It was my favorite restaurant. I changed my stars from 5 to 1 because of this inconsistency every time i come from far away to eat here.

I love George’s I really do. And honestly years ago it was my favorite place to eat. But last night was just unacceptable. My significant other and I came in for dinner. His food was perfect and delicious. I ordered the taco dinner and paid $2 for guacamole. The dinner was supposed to come with chips and salsa one of the reasons I ordered it. It did not. I didn’t say anything because I figured the tacos and rice would fill me up. And I was looking forward to the guacamole. The rice was hard and obviously old. The beans had that weird old film on it. And the guacamole.... my favorite part was brown. Not like a little brown but almost black. I did not touch it. The waitress was sweet and I tipped her well since that wasn’t her fault. But the more I thought about it the more I was upset that she would serve me that guacamole. As a former waitress myself I would’ve never presented that to a customer. I have a picture of the guacamole but it wouldn’t let me put it on here.But oh my god it was gross

I've only been here once on a date but it's definitely an unforgettable experience. We ordered somewhere around $40 worth of food and a very nice gentleman actually paid for it. Great family restaurant on North Glenstone in Springfield MO. Breakfast with group of 7 on a busy Sunday morning. The food was hot and delicious, generous portions and very reasonable prices! The food is great and I've never been better treated or more sincerely and considerately served at a restaurant. With world class customer service and a wide range of classic American breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees to choose from, it's no wonder they've been in business as long as they have. There's not a family restaurant in Springfield that I would recommend above this one... definitely my personal top pick in the local family dining category!

I've been coming here for years, different managers and workers, but same great, polite and personable service. Place is very clean and doesn't have the smell of greasy cooking wafting out of the kitchen like some other local dives do and which also make your clothes smell upon arriving home. This place just barely missed getting demolished by the EF4 Memorial Day tornado of 2019 by a hair's breadth. I'm glad it's still there. Thank you for the free food you provided the local populace afterwards. We were hurting, no electricity and our meat/food in the freezer/refrigerator spoiled. We really appreciate your help and ate at George's several times!!!

I really wanted the broasted but I was rather famished and didn't want to wait the 20 minutes (they are made to order). The iced tea was my favorite! It tasted homemade as advertised. Went here with a lot of co-workers for a social outing. From the outside the parking lot looked to be over-flowing. Loads of cars, when we enter, loads of people. I thought to myself, this place is pretty bustling! Must be good! Atmosphere is nice, cute little old-school diner. Salad and hot-bar. Get to ordering. I ordered the Country Fried Steak Dinner, and noticed they had a Loaded Baked Potato for a $3 upcharge. I figured, why not? Treat myself! They offered me soup or salad, asked their soup options and when they landed on French Onion Soup I was sold. So, my soup comes out. It's a brown onion broth, luke warm, with onions in the soup. No Gruyere cheese, or cheese of any kind, no crouton or anything. This is not a French Onion soup. I thought to myself, well hopefully the rest would be better. Boy was I wrong. My dinner arrived and my "Loaded Baked Potato" was luke warm, hard a rock, and not loaded at all. Plain. With pre-packaged butter & sour cream on the side. I asked our waitress if it had any other toppings and I was told they have no green onion, but she offered me cheese. The Country Fried Steak and Gravy was not terrible, actually. This place was an utter disappointment. Looks are very deceiving here, that or their clientele that come here on a regular basis have no sense of what quality food is. Sorry, but we won't be back.

Soooo good! Omelet was delicious and a good size. The Meatloaf was also very good, but not quite as much as I would've hoped for. The service was incredible!
