I'm not one to leave negative reviews, because I understand the stress of the restaurant business. But after a frustrating experience this morning, I need to. We were super excited to finally sit down and have some brunch after leaving 2 places due to wait times. We were seated immediately and ready to order. After sitting for 5 minutes two other groups came in and were seated. Each group was greeted immediately, served water and then coffee. We sat for another 15 min without being greeted by a waitress or served water. A waiter even approached the table directly to our right to see how they were doing. After some discussion we decided this isn't the kind of service that deserves our money and left. We then headed to First Watch, which was much busier, and were seated immediately and recieved awesome service. Super disappointed experiencing this at a local restaurant. Especially a place with such good food.

I was told to contact Brad for a bridal shower I was wanting to host at the Aviary. I tried calling both locations, emailing, and sending a message via website. However Brad never replied to any of the above messages. I waited a for month and then booked a different Cafe. I was very disappointed in their customer service. Will not be recommending or returning!

Service was the best part! Waiter seated us, got our drinks within 4 mins and gave the kids a coloring page. He was professional and kind. Food: menu looks amazing and options are great...Plating was attractive, but omelet and crepe were cold and fruit wasn’t fresh/tasted days old or unripe. And unfortunately the door to the kitchen was wide open next to us and that wasn’t a great experience.. floor and countertops were filthy, kitchen staff, chefs all looked like they just walked off a construction site... no one in any type of uniform and personal hygiene was repulsive. Made me queasy even before the pretty but cold food came out. Prices are competitive and reasonable ish. I probably won’t return and I’d recommend driving to a Chick-fil-A before you consider this place.

My meal was excellent and service was wonderful. I will definitely be recommending this place to all of my friends. I had the lemoncello crepes and they were great. The individual components put together end up adding up to a substantial cost but being Frugal one could eat their very reasonably.

Had breakfast at The Aviary on Sunday morning. Reservations are taken and are a good idea since it can get crowded. We were able to make reservations the evening before. The pommes frites were very good, but the lemoncello crepe was outstanding. The atmosphere at the Walnut location is a great experience. Next time perhaps I will try one of the savory crepes--just have to figure out how I can visit and not enjoy a lemoncello crepe.

We are from out of town and didn't know there was more than one location. We ordered a to go order but when we arrived here, they told us that we'd ordered to the other one. Instead of making us go, they stated making our order right away and were super helpful and friendly!

We had the California chicken club with egg and the farmer crepe. When I tell you they were both AMAZING!!! The Crepes AMAZING!!! The beverages AMAZING!!! The service AMAZING!!! The ambiance in this place is also great. Like an old Venetian feel to the restaurant. This is our second time here and was equally pleased as the first. As we walked in the door the people leaving also spoke extremely highly of this place. I’m extremely happy with this restaurant. Can’t wait to go again! KUDOS!!!

I had hoped to take my boyfriend to a nice brunch to end our weekend- we should have gone literally anywhere else. I know this restaurant is a “local fav” but EW. Our food was undercooked and we could audibly hear a cook cussing out another employee in the kitchen. Both larger tables near us got their food before us and we had arrived to the restaurant before these guests AND ordered before them. The foods always been tolerable, bland, and oily but with that kind of service I will not be returning to this restaurant.

Worse service I've had in a long time. It's been a while since I've been to the downtown location. I usually good to the other Aviary Cafe in town, on the corner of Republic Road and Glenstone. Always had great food and service there. For some reason on February 23rd, Aviary's downtown completely let me down. We were in a group of 4 people. They seated us very quickly, after that it went down hill. We waited 15 minutes before someone at our table ask one of the servers if we could get some service. The waiter guy just had this complete confuse look on his face, then reply with "yeaahhh" and preceded to have this awkward silence. So we begin to tell him what we wanted. We then sat there for 45 minutes before we got our drinks we order. At that point we were about to walk out of the place, for some reason we waited. 20 minutes after that our food arrived. Three out of four of us was completely disappointed in the food we received. I order fried chicken and french toast. Not normal thing I would order, but thought I never really had a bad meal from Aviary's, so it has to be good. The fried chicken skin was almost burnt. Like there temperature of the grease was to high. The french toast was cold and it was just drowned in syrup. I don't care for a lot of syrup on my food, makes it to sweet. I was completely disappointed in the food, the service, and the overall experience. I won't be coming back to the downtown location.

The food was honestly great but the service was really bad. I went with two friends at 11:30 and was told there would be a 30 minute wait. At 12:30, I asked the host where we were at in line and they had skipped us 4 times and said that they had called us when they never did. I even looked at the number the host had written down and saw that it was correct. When we finally sat down, we waited several minutes just to get our drink orders in. Now, I've worked in food industry and know that you should prioritize a guest if they've been skipped already. When we finally ordered, we got the fries along with our drinks. It took over 30 minutes to just get 2 orders of fries , 2 coffees, and a mimosa. We tried to talk to our server and ask her how long the rest of our food would take since we had been there over an hour and she very rudely said that she would be able to get our food if we weren't talking to her. While we were eating, she didn't give us silverware and we had to ask 3 different times for her to give us a refill on our coffees and waters. While we kept asking her, she was bussing tables and seating new people while ignoring us. Huge thank you to Abbi and a server with purple in her hair because we kept asking them to help us when our original server was continually ignoring us. Abbi told us that we would be able to get a discount for the wait but our server didn't put it on the bill. When we asked her if we could get a discount, we explained to her what was going on and she refused to take any blame. She kept saying that she's busy, understaffed, and we aren't her only table. My friends and I were extremely understanding with her and tried to explain that flipping tables shouldn't be her first priority when she was consistently ignoring a table that was already eating. We waited over 3 hours start to finish and only got a 10% discount.

The service was good and the food delicious. The crepe we had for dessert was amazing. We did the $40 meal deal where you get an appetizer, 2 entress, and a dessert. The food was all yummy. The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is that both the appetizer and dessert we wanted they were out of.

A little over priced for breakfast. $20 bucks! for French toast with a chunk of chicken on top. (That included the tip). The service was great and our waitress was friendly and helpful when i explained that i wanted a genuine French meal (French toast, really? The French invented French toast?) but the food was excellent. My partner ordered the crepes. Now THAT was good! Get that if you go there.

I am giving this experience two stars only because the server was polite. The food at Aviary used to be spot on delicious and on my “to do” whenever visiting. My meals there over the past two years have grown infrequent due to the poor quality of the food (soggy pomme frites, lukewarm food, crunchy sugar crystals throughout my Salted Carmel Crepe). Each time I visited I swore it would be the last. But I keep on going back hoping for that great experience again. Each time I leave disappointed. After my visit to the Downtown location today, it Will Be the last time. My meal was not at all warm & at room temperature, the pomme frites only slightly warmer, clearly not freshly made. I suspect my meal had been pre-made and put under the warmer. As there were only two other tables seated, and it was early in the day, this leaves me puzzled. There were three tapas items on my plate. I could barely finish one, it was so bad. Sure, I could have spoken to the manager, but just wanted to leave. I’ve learned my lesson.

First time going to this location. We arrived at 5:00 pm on a Tuesday. No one else was there, we were the only table in the whole place. It took 25 minutes to receive our appetizer and an hour to receive our food!!! When he brought out the appetizers he didn’t bring any plates. We had to steal some from an empty table next to us. He came back by several minutes later with plates and acted annoyed we got our own. Complete lack of training. Hello!! you had 25 minutes and no other tables to bring the plates. We were eating here before we went to my daughters preschool graduation. We were almost late because it took SO long! We had to eat our entrees in 5 minutes so we could get out of there. Thank goodness I had ordered my children’s food to come with the appetizers. We love the other location. This one not so much. Big difference between the two. My entree was not very good. I ordered the bistro chicken. The description said crispy skin and served with kale. No skin, just a dry chicken breast. No kale, instead they substituted mushy field greens. You cannot cook field greens. It is not a substitute for cooked kale. Our server could tell we were in a hurry toward the end and had the nerve to say we should of ordered off some quick menu they have no one knows about. Again it was 5:00 on a Tuesday and we were the only table. How long does it take when the restaurant is full?? 4 hours?

I had the flank steak with asparagus and pomme frites. My son had the black and blue and then we split the limoncello. Everything was fantastic and the limoncello was the best thing I’ve had in a long time! The ambience was nice as well. Would definitely come back

We really liked this place!! Great crepes both sweet and savory. Everything we ordered was delicious. There was a mix up with them mishearing an order and delivering the wrong thing which took off a star. But overall, really cute place and good food. Friendly service.

The Aviary is a must when in Springfield!! The atmosphere and service were cozy and welcoming. We were welcomed with amazing coffee and water immediately. Our server, Bria, gave us a quick overview of the menu and her favorites. (Bria not only was a great server but also gave us a couple of recommendations about local shops) When our food came out, oh...my...goodness!!! Not only were the portions huge but the food was so delicious I didn’t want it to end. The coffee is local and Avery delicious rich roast as well as an extremely smooth espresso. You will not be disappointed!!!

The crepes are good but the rest of the food isnt. There isn't enough variety of crepes that are savory. I would call this a desert and coffee place more than for lunch. The coffee is good and they have real cream. I usually drink black coffee but with real cream it's awesome.

The Aviary is one of my most favorite places to eat in Springfield! They have a lovely selection of cuisine to satisfy just about any palate. They are so friendly and helpful. Get the pomme frites, they're delicious. And don't skip dessert! The salted caramel crepe is so delicious. Split a savory crepe for your entree (they're big) if you must to be sure you have room!

Portions were a bit small for the price charged. Food was pretty good, but not out of the park amazing. We loved that they had kids meals that was mini versions of the adult foods. None of us are fans of the blah kids food most places serve (nuggets, pb&j, etc). Overall, we wouldn't spend that much to go there again, but we wouldn't tell people to avoid it.

On a recent visit I had the French onion soup and Brussels sprouts. The sprouts are, as they say, to die for—but far better to live for and enjoy another day. The salted caramel dessert crepe is also delicious, as was the crepe Florentine. Kayti, manager and server, is delightfully pleased with her establishment and menu and genuinely glad to see diners. The check is presented in a French novel, which is a wonderfully literate touch so close to MSU. Everything about this wonderful place reminded me of Paris—except the very pleasant (and clean) restroom that provides post-it notes for those who feel they must leave their mark.

Used to always go to the South side location but now avoid that location at all costs. After 6-8 trips in a row of egg shell found in both my husband and I’s crepes we just couldn’t go back even though we love the food. Last weekend we decided to brave the downtown location. It took a while to get drinks, and forever to get food. There was a chip taken out of my glass, which cut my lip. My husband ordered fruit as his side, but received sweet potato mash just as I had ordered. He decided to just make it work. I asked twice for brown sugar to top the sweet potato mash, but didn’t receive it until we were paying our bill... ready to go. To top everything off, there was eggshell in my Crepe. The waitress was not conversational, and was rarely seen. She was too busy to drop our food off so someone else did, while later, with her back turned walking away, she asked if everything was ok... we never saw her again. We love the aviary but we just can’t hardly stand to go back at this point.

The food was very good here. We were seated almost immediately, but then no server seemed to be aware that we were there. Eventually our drink order was taken from someone who said they weren't our server, and then we waited again. And waited. After being served our meals we did not see our waiter again and waiting for our check was painfully long. If not for the good food, we would not consider returning.

For those of us who remember the Magic Pan, the Aviary is a godsend. Not only do they have marvelous savory and sweet crepes, but the rest of the menu is marvelous as well. The star of our meal turned out to be the side of brussel sprouts. They were flash fried and our server recommended topping them with a little goat cheese.

I've been here a few times. It's starting to look a little dirty and I think it's about time they give their tables a little attention. They're very wobbly and when put together they don't align. Great food, subpar service. It took 45 minutes just to get our appetizer and our waiter frequently disappeared. Drink refills were rare. On a relatively slow Thursday night we counted at least 3 tables walk out. Our waiter only barely apologized for the delay when we finally got our main course. We've typically had better service so I'm willing to give it another shot but there's a pretty low bar set now.

The food was fantastic. Had their version of Poutine and enjoyed it. The coffee was a bit odd. Everyone categorized it as super weak and it looked like tea when it came out. Wait staff was quick to let us know that's how they always serve it but they could run it through with the espresso to embolden it. Looked and tasted more like coffee then. Over all a good place to go, just maybe not for coffee.

I couldn't stop thinking about how delicious the food was after we left the restaurant. First of all, the service was amazing--very attentive, despite the long wait for our food. We knew we weren't forgotten about and that the food was just being prepared fresh just for us. Secondly, my husband loved the duck with crispy skin and risotto, and I loved the shrimp Florentine crepe. We finished the meal off by sharing a mascarpone crepe with blueberries, strawberries, and bananas. Oh this crepe was the perfect ending to our meal!!! I think we caught them on a bad night. I was at a table of 4 and it took over an hour and 20 minutes to get our food, including the pomme frites appetizer. My friend's medium steak was well done and my brussel sprouts were burned to a crisp. The waiter was very kind, and while he offered to take them back we declined since it had already taken too long to get our food.
