Quite the atmosphere I must say. One of the best places I've been to eat in Hattiesburg. They make you feel at home. We had the catfish and meatloaf and they were both phenomenal!! If you get a chance to stop in you won't regret it.

Came here for St. Patrick's day and it did not disappoint. The festive $2 green beer, $3 Irish Car bombs, and Irish band really set the tone and was a joy to be around for the holiday. The food was a little over priced but still very good. My server Jordan was incredible and couldn't have been better. They will be getting my service in the future.

Went tonight and had a mediocre experience. They need more waitstaff than 1 server. I know it is mostly a pub, but if you have a menu with more than just bar food, you need more servers. Service was slow in other words. The fries were only halfway cooked and EXTREMELY greasy. I ordered the tuna melt, and it was honestly horrible. The tuna salad was very dry and the bread basically crumbled. Pretty disappointed with the experience.

This is my absolute favorite local pub! The food is always extremely tasty; if you like potato salad, this is THE place to get it, along with some of your other pub grub favorites. There are tons of fantastic draft beers on tap, and many many other available options. I love the downtown setting and atmosphere inside, it really feels like an older place with a hint of an urban feel. The staff are all very friendly, funny, and know how to treat a customer. I'd give The porter six stars if I could but Google won't let me.

Stopped on the way home from spring break purely because my wife and i’s last name is Porter. Incredibly surprised; The meatloaf was an absolute win and the Mac and cheese side was a banger. $10 bottomless sale beer was a great deal. Jordan helped us and he was fabulous, will definitely stop again if we are ever in the area!!

Service has been great both times I have been, very friendly and on point. The menu is ok, I haven't had anything that is outstanding but it has been very good. I tried the steak nachos (solid b maybe a-) the loaded fries (b+,a-) and one of the hotdogs (just ok). I like the atmosphere and I think the Porter is a nice downtown addition. Oh, and ofc they have a good beer selection.

Everything is right with The Porter. From first walking in you notice the comfortable atmosphere. The food menu has southern comforts (best chicken fingers in 39401/39402) and new classics (Chili Mac). Always up-to-date on draft beers from Mississippi breweries and weeknight events regularly (TRIVIA TUESDAY), The Porter is a staple to my week!

The food is good but it’s not okay to advertise happy hour on your website as one thing and then offer it in house as another and have the servers treat customers as if they are imbeciles.

Went in on a Friday night around 7:30 to grab dinner and a beer with my wife. It wasn't crazy busy but we sat there for 12 minutes without being acknowledged by any of the staff. There was a good number of staff working. Other tables were waited on and empty tables were bused around us but no one ever said someone will be right with you, welcome to the Porter, or anything for that matter. I left after the 12 minutes, I didn't try and wait it out any longer.

I was very impressed with my experience. Pretty awesome beer selection, solid appetizers, maybe the best burger in town, and bread pudding that is to die for...... under one roof. Our server seemed not only extremely friendly and experienced but also knowledgeable about beer selections to help us out (I think her name was Emma). The Porter is outstanding and I will definitely be a returning customer.

Definitely a place worth going to if you're into craft beer. The food was rather average (not at all bad though) and they had a very good selection for beer. Most nights I went here, they were not very busy at all, despite it being a rather small place. I certainly like the relaxed setting and casual atmosphere. If I'm ever in the area again, I would definitely go here again.

Service was unfortunate. Great atmosphere and food, with the exception of the home made tarter sauce, which was huge raw onion pieces mixed with mayo. I spent more time than I should have had to fishing out the onion chunks so I could use the tartar. Server never came back with my requests. He said he was too busy to correct anything and offered to discount my meal that had gone cold while waiting 25 minutes. Got the check and it was discounted a dollar and change. I won't be returning.

I hate to give a startup, local place a bad review, but I was quite disappointed with my lunch experience today. Quesadilla was good, but the wait time was unacceptable. We ordered two chicken quesadillas, and waited for over an hour. When we finally did receive our order, the guacamole was missing and they were not in to-go boxes as we had requested. There was no discount or future coupon for our wait at the time. Both of us were late back to work, as a large party and several other orders were made before ours, despite having been placed after us. EDIT 6/22/16: I went back and redeemed my free entre that Roy had offered as a response to the review, and had a pleasant and timely experience. The waiter was attentive and service and good were good. Ordered a burger. Very good quality burger & bun. Roy wasn't available, but I had no trouble at all. I also went back a third time with my husband, and although the environment is a little loud when it's crowded, we still enjoyed good food and good service. Definitely an improvement!!

I didn't expect a restaurant to ever tell their customers that they can't order any entrees at 11pm even though they closed at 1am. The beer cheese covered fries just looked like paste that's been sitting out too long and put on overcooked fries, same with the bacon pieces. The place was also very cold like they were running the AC in cold weather. Been here two times, hoping the second time would be better and was unfortunately worse.

Went for the Whiskey Wednesday and wasn't disappointed. In addition to the whiskey they had nearly an entire wall of delicious, local craft beers to choose from, and the food really hit the spot too. Add to that the relaxed atmosphere and incredibly attentive and helpful staff, and you end up with a wonderful evening. I believe this was only my second time ever visiting The Porter, but they made sure it certainly won't be my last.

Not too shabby, prices are a little high but eh, I ordered a salad and it was pretty good I won’t lie, don’t really have a negative comment about the service or anything because I wasn’t really that interactive with them, I do feel for the price it was more quality over quantity, which was still good because the chicken was grilled nicely, the tomatoes were huge, the cucumbers were sliced nice as well. Like the fact they use a spring mix instead of just lettuce, compliments the salad more and has a better mixture with all the different tastes incorporated, I will say that is the main reason for the price but overall I’d say I enjoyed it lol only reason I give a 3 out of 5 is because of the amount of space, not too spacious but I guess it’s more so a bar not restaurant, hence the pub name. But I would come back if I were on this side of town to try other things on the menu

Been here a couple of times. Each one is just ok. Tried the pretzels, they’re ok. Theirs porter sauce was good, but now that they’ve changed the recipe it’s not. Shrimp salad was something I could do at home. Meatloaf was pretty good. Meatballs were bad. My kids, who love meatballs, wouldn’t touch them. Fish and chips are good, but need vinegar. Beer selection is decent. Their in house beer has improved, but still needs time to develop their expertise.

This place has a great atmosphere, awesome food, large beer selection, and located downtown. The staff is always friendly and inviting. It's a pub with pub fare in a comfortable setting. You seat yourself and relax. Like any place, when it's busy, it's busy and ticket times may seem a little longer, which is normal. But, it's worth the wait if you go during a busy time. They continually update beer options and run great weekly promotions. I enjoy going here every time and I've probably only been there around 10 times. I haven't eaten anything I didn't enjoy and haven't met any worker that was unpleasant. They're growing and adapting. They just got a huge TV to play some Mario Cart and watch Southern Miss games. What more could you ask for? If you have the meatloaf sandwich, you'll never want anything else...seriously...

Great food, amazing beer selection, and fast service. Couple that with a surprisingly warm and fun ambiance, and this is a winner for the whole family. We took our three young kids, and they had at least as much fun as we did. I ordered the chili mac and it could have fed three people, delicious. My wife got the taco salad and liked it. We went at 7 on a Saturday and it wasn’t very busy, I’m guessing the bar crowd packs it out later on which is fantastic for us olds. We will be back frequently!
