My mom and I went to this restaurant on a whim after visiting the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum on July 4th weekend. We were served by Jacob. In addition to being incredibly kind and professional, Jacob is one of the most handsome men we've ever laid eyes on! My mom couldn't stop blushing. The service was the fastest service I've ever had at a restaurant in my life!!! Our food was being brought to our table within 5 minutes of us ordering it!! The food is DELICIOUS!! The service is on par with a 5 star restaurant in Paris! I'm definitely going back the next time I'm in Jackson, MS. In addition to the awesome food and awesome service the manager came by and personally welcomed us. PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME AND VISIT THIS RESTAURANT WHEN YOU'RE IN JACKSON!!!

Food & service was excellent. I had the crab stuffed catfish with a baked potato & a salad & everything was very well prepared. I love the large Mason jars they serve iced tea in - makes for a great experience when you don't run out of drink during your meal. I definitely recommend.

It was a so so visit for us. We were visiting from SC and decided to give it a try. My husband's steak was not cooked medium well like he requested. My salmon was more like sushi. The manager was notified who was very helpful. My husband got another steak cooked to his pleasing but I didn't want anything else. Just didn't feel like the hastle so they just charged us for the one meal.

I had the grilled redfish with mashed potatoes and corn. I got canned green beans instead of mashed potatoes and when they did replace the green beans with mashed potatoes they were absolutely Stone Cold. Never got to order my second beer because the waiter never came back.

I had the worst server. Unattentive , took for ever to bring drinks. Brought out chips and left the salsa at a server station for over ten minutes then after being MIA he came back and bought us that salsa. (Discussing) The ribs were super tough and I told our waiter. He said he would relay the message and took off our drinks but we paid for three plates of ribs that were still sitting in front of us. . No manager visited our table for our complaint. Never saw a manager the whole time I was there. The worst part was being ignored while our server cleaned the chair legs in his section. This was my first time visiting and definitely my last.

Great food. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I got the fried chicken Cobb salad and LOVED it. But for the love of God and all that is holy, can the owner invest in a sound wall for the drums?? It drives up the whole volume of the band to an intolerable level for a place you might just be coming to dinner to. It’s unfair to the bands to just be despised because they can’t help but be ungodly loud.

Stopped in on our way home, we were greeted by a friendly hostess. Ordered our drinks, a sweet tea and honeysuckle blues. Wow!!! And then our food arrived. Baby back ribs that are the epitome of melt in your mouth, soul warming mac and cheese, and coleslaw that knocks it out of the park. Words can't begin to describe the shrimp and grits. Creamy, hearty, perfectly seasoned. I got food goosebumps! All in all, loved the place, atmosphere, and most of all the food!

Hands down best service (host Jordan was amazing, she is a real people person) and great food. Manager is friendly and up holds a standard you would want, if the presentation of the food is not up to his standard it will not be served. The manager constantly walks around to check on all the costumers and make sure they are treated right and happy. I had enjoyed each and every time I had gone, I will be back. One of my favorite restaurants. Keep up the great work guys.

This has been bookmarked for a while, so I was excited to finally get a chance to try this restaurant. We ate a late lunch approximately 1:30pm, which was okay because their daily lunch special runs to 2:pm. So my bestie had the daily lunch special which was their fried catfish Andi elected to try their Navajo chicken meal. Both portions were very plentiful and seasoned exceptional well. The customer service was very fast and professional. Our waitress Jillian was very courtesy and helpful assisting us while we ordered....especially since this was our first time visiting.I'm positive that we will be back in the near future....if we're in the Jackson, MS area. I would highly recommend it to friends and family members who want to have some good soul food while in town.

Great customer service. Manager let us have a booth that would sit a big party for our family of 3 so we could watch the game. The food was great, my husband ordered a steak with crab meat and I ordered the citrus chicken. I ordered the tamales out of curiosity and they tasted great, way better than I expected. I also ordered the Etta James, if you're a drinker I highly recommend this drink.

Good food and great service. There is a small jazz museum on site. There was an R&B/Jazz band playing the night I went which was very nice. Crowded but typical of Saturday night. Not the best neighborhood but security is in the parking lots. I would recommend to friends and will go back.

I love this place! I've only visited this once but I had a blast. I had the Catfish and the Grilled Chilean Salmon with broccoli, and it taste delicious. The service was fast and excellent. It's a nice place to hang out with family and friends.

This was my second visit at The Iron Horse Grill, and it was just as frustrating and akward as my first. I vowed NEVER to come again after my first horrible visit for my birthday. Let me explain, we had reservations for 50 people on December 31, 2016.This was my birthday mind you. Once we started to arrive we were told they had no knowledge of the reservations and could not accommodate us. So we literally had to stand and wait for almost three hours to be seated. We didn't leave because this is where everyone had agreed on bringing the New Year in. I was so upset, but for everyone else's sake I grinned and bared the awful treatment that was being served to us. Currently on July 12, 2019 this location was chosen for my boss's birthday lunch. For her I reneged on my vow. Going with the best hope of this visit being better than my first, I was quickly disappointed. No one acknowledged us for almost 45 minutes, we were told we had to take our cake out because they didn't allow outside food or beverages. The waitress even lied like she would put the cake in a cool place so it would not have to melt sitting in a car. She just left it sitting out up front. My complaint is not about the food...it's been great each time. It's just for me personally, I feel like the service up front is horrible. They didn't great us either time to acknowledge our presence at all. They just stood there whispering amongst themselves and staring as though we weren't supposed to be there. It's a horrible akward feeling of rudeness that takes over the entire moment from beginning to end. At the end of the meal...I told my boss, " for you only, I will NEVER return to this restaurant again after today"! So I can only hope and pray that anyone else will have a better experience. Please don't be disappointed if you don't, you've been warned.

Arrive to this restaurant order an appetizer, drink, and margarita first. I then proceed to order a pasta dish. After the dish came out it had a lemon on it in which I told the waitress to take off before ordering. The pasta came to the table and it wasn’t appealing to eat. I call for the waitress and he got the manager. Inform the manager that the food had a lemon and wasn’t appealing and ask could he take it back I will order something else. He refused and stated he will get the police officer on paying customer. The manager stated he will take the lemon off first then said he will make another dish of pasta I ask for him to get me something else I will be more willing to more for it. He refused. He Stated he will just remake the pasta when I’m telling him it’s not appealing I prefer something else. This is not on there menu that you must pay for food when it comes to your table even though you don’t want it because of the looks or something wrong with itetc. The manager has bad attitude and not good customer service at all. I have never being to a restaurant where the manager seek the police on a customer when their is something wrong with the food and the customer willing to pay a greater price for the food that is appealing. My husband and I really enjoyed our meal here. Even though we came at an off time, we received great service. Our food seemed very fresh, and the complimentary chips and salsa appetizer was yum yum! We both ordered a burger, and they were great! They serve their drinks in Mason jars too, which I though was unique and quite convenient of you are really thirsty. Wow. Nice and an easy walk staying downtown. Decent sized draft beer list. Soul train hot wings did not disappoint. Chicken was plump and perfectly cooked. Sauce was honestly perfect. Not too spicy. Not too sweet. Just perfect. Chimichanga was very simple. Very good. Mexican corn, while more southern cool was delightful. Audible yums were heard. Not much of a booze selection. Overall. Happy to comeback soon.

I went here for the first time today. I had stuffed catfish with the spiced fries and green beans. My food was just warm. I didnt want to send it back because I didnt really feel like waiting any longer. The place was packed and that could have been the reason for my "warm" food but still. Overall it was just ok to me. I am willing to give it another try one day.

So loud that I had to repeat my order 3 or 4 times. Never got our appetizer but was on our receipt. Order was wrong after waitress confirmed ordered multiple times. Had to wait 10 mins once our food was out for silverware. Also had issues with our drinks. The Navajo Chicken and the roll were good.

Overall it's a really cool place. It's not just a meal, it's an experience. The service from our waiter wasn't that great. I am not even sure who our waiter was, we had to just flag people down when we needed something. We ordered a lot of different food to sample and while some of the items were fantastic (ribs, wings) some of them were very average (BBQ shrimp and salsa). It was still a great experience and the poor service may have been a result of eating lunch at 3 pm. We will definitely be back for more ribs!

We were driving around Jackson on our way to New Orleans and wondering why it looked like such a ghost town on a Sunday, then we saw the parking lot for this place. It was packed! It was like half the town was here, and for good reason. Live music, great service, awesome food and interesting decor. And the drinks!! The drinks have got such a kick! It’s a fun place I’ll return to next time I find myself in Mississippi.

The worst experience EVER! The management is HORRIBLE and PROFILED the party that I was with due to who we are. I will NEVER go back or recommend anyone else to go either. Management was VERY unapologetic about their actions. The worst part of it all is that they showed their true colors once they’ve already been PAID. They received over a thousand dollars and we were treated like garbage. Are you kidding me?! No, I’m not! The IHG is a real gem in downtown Jackson. This is the perfect place to take anyone from out of town who's interested in experiencing Mississippi cuisine. The atmosphere was a real surprise for me - it's fantastic. They've put a lot of time & effort into the decor. I visited with a party of 10 on a Saturday night, while they don't take reservations (unless you're reserving a private room), we were able to call ahead the morning of our visit & they seated us within 20 minutes of arriving despite their being crazy-busy. I was able to try the steak fajitas (really good), shrimp & grits (really rich with perfectly-cooked shrimp), the habanero pasta, the chicken enchiladas, & the fried catfish. The pasta & enchiladas tasted fine, but had the appearance of having sat under a heat lamp in the kitchen for too long. The fried catfish was really good, it didn't appear to have the standard cornmeal coating like many places use, but had a nice crust with a good flavor. They have a large drink menu with a good selection of Mississippi-produced draft beers. The wait staff was great, despite having to manage multiple large parties, they did a fine job taking care of my table. They also advertise a Sunday brunch - I intend on making a trip back to try that out soon.

Food was terrific. Ribs weren't fall off the bone tender, but were perfectly seasoned & still finger lickin' good. Plates were well presented. Have to say the salads & wraps were gorgeous. The crab cakes were some of the best & I live on the coast where seafood dishes are our forte. We had a rather large party so service was a little slow but wedidn't mind since it was a leisurely meal. The sheriff's officer working security was amazing! Bathrooms were clean and the historical building is amazing.

Went to this place tonight and the service and food was horrible. Order when everyone else in the party order and got our order 15 min later after the party had ate. Manager tried to tell me he couldnt do nth after he gave me my food. Notice my total was already $61 so I inform him he need to take something off my ticket. He said he only can take 5% off which my ticket is now $55. Never will I go to this place again..food terrible and so is the management !

This is a nice place to get food and relax especially before the heart of the dinner service. It’s never busy. Side items are decent, but the main course food and service is good. When I went there, I got the fried catfish. What threw me off about the catfish was the breading. The crust made the fried catfish look like chicken tenders. (I’m serious) It felt way too heavy for catfish. But other than that menu item, the food I have gotten here is consistently solid.

Ate here last night with a group of my husband's co-workers prior to a visit to the Civil Rights Museum this morning. The building itself is really cool, the entire staff were very friendly (even those sitting out back on break that we walked by, because the parking lot was so full out front). Our waitress was very quick, professional and friendly. The menu was very appealing and the food was delicious! Love the large Mason jars that our drinks came in. The live blues guitar music last night was really nice! A great experience and would love to come back if ever in Jackson again!

I was disappointed with the service this time. We had a 20 percent gratuity automatically added to each of our three couple's bill. I usually tip 20 percent or more for good service. I assume 20 percent is automatically charged for a table of six or more. However, just because a gratuity is automatic, good service is still expected. No water or beverage refills, only what seemed like rushing us to finish our meal. Sad!

Great place for dinner. Place was recommended by the desk clerk at our hotel, and we're not disappointed. The restaurant is located in an old packing house. There are 2 levels, with a Mississippi music museum on the upper floor. A stage allows for live music that starts later in the evening. There are 20 taps for draft beer, with several local brews. If you've never tried it, I would suggest the Pecan Porter. We had great southern cooking, including fried catfish, stuffed catfish, fried okra, and black eyed peas. The staff was extremely friendly, and atmosphere was comfortable and inviting.

I had the fried chicken fajita. It was the best meal I have had since arriving in the U.S. great overall experience. The staff were wonderful. Highly recommended. Thankyou for you southern hospitality.

Wow!!!!!! What can I say about this place? The menu is amazing, everything is appealing. The food tastes fresh, the ingredients blend beautifully, the cocktails are delicious. The aesthetics are well done, I love the wall art. Never been here before but Ill definitely be a repeat customer.

Freaking wowwww!!!!!! This place was amazing. Atmosphere was different and refreshing. The seafood dip appetizer was awesome but what got this place 5 stars was their shrimp and grits. I've have shrimp and grits from many places in my life but this was over the top best I've ever had!!!!!! Well done ihg

I have never had a bad meal here. This was the first time I had the chimi changa good stuff. The Cobb salad looked fantastic and that is what i will have next time i go there.

If I could give more than five stars I would. The food was yummy, but what makes Sunday Brunch the best I ever had is the atmosphere and the musician Tyger Rogers. From the time you walk in the layout of the place catches your eye and the waffle and omelet hot bar that is to the left of the hostess stand. That is what I ordered for brunch which was more than I could eat. For one trip you get a waffle and omelette. The omelette you have a plate that you fill with what you want in your omelette. While your omelette is being cooked you fill your plate with your sides of hash browns, cheese grits, sausage, and bacon. Then you move on to make your waffle. They also have $13 bottomless bloody Mary’s and mimosas. You are just getting your basic bloody mix with vodka and no trimmings which is not a complaint just a heads up if that is what you were wanting. I am sure they would accommodate for you. There are many brunch spots where I am from in South Carolina, but I have to admit this is the best brunch spot I have ever been to, ever. The staff were great, and our waitress told us about the wax museum up stairs which was really cool to check out. If I am ever in Mississippi again I will definitely be back.

I went here with a group visiting for a convention and it was simply amazing. Some wires got crossed about when the group was coming, so they weren't ready for us when we got there, but they quickly adjusted and got us seated rather quickly. The staff were all nice and accommodating, and the food was absolutely delicious. The wax museum was even an added bonus.
