I was there with a group of people. I ended up showing up later so I only got a drink with my wife. The group I was with ordered food and none of them seemed overly impressed with what they had. Just to clarify. Nothing was BAD. Just that everything was fine. The one guy ordered chicken wings and when they brought him out it was essentially the entire chickens wing which is a little strange for an appetizer. To me it seemed like a very forced way to make the simple menu item seem more " fancy " than it really was.

Service could be A LOT better. It wasn't a very busy evening and it still took a long time to see our server. If you're charging $3 for a soda, refill it when it's empty. Mojitos are good, wings are great, salad leaves something to be desired. 3/4 of rooftop is covered and seating is VERY close together. There isn't really a "view of the city" unless you're lucky enough to get one of the 8 tables that aren't enclosed .

The venue is great! Largest retractable roof top in Minneapolis, so rain or shine they can accommodate. Downstairs is a club similar to what you'd find in New York. Smaller but good sound and lighting, an intimate feeling. The middle level, ground level, is more for lounging and having dinner. A good place to people watch as you get a diverse crowd from below and on top.

We came here a little later on a Friday and sat near the bar. The food and drinks were pretty good. I got salmon and it tasted good. The service, albeit a bit slow, was good and we really liked our server. The bartender helped us get the game we wanted to see on the TV and was very kind. Every interaction I had with employees here was spectacular!

The view and ambiance on the rooftop is truly wonderful, but disappointingly, the food was not near satisfactory. I could have made a better stir fry at home. The main dishes came much smaller than I anticipated for the price. I also tried the lobster mac and cheese which was a bit better, but still needs work. They serve their water with plastic straws automatically which is very disappointing considering most restaurants have the ‘ask if you need (a straw)’ policy these days. Most of the employees were not very friendly either; the ones behind the bar looked annoyed with everything. I hope to return one day and have the quality of my meal match the excellent view.

As a party of 10, showing up at their peek hours, they told us it would be a 45 minute wait. We put our name in and decided to get drinks. Within TEN MINUTES we had the PERFECT table out on the open patio/rooftop. Our waiter, Matt (and assistant Vic) were top notch. Our drinks, including water, were never empty; the food was VERY timely and sensational; and without asking, Matt brought not only one, but TWO desserts for our bride’s party. Sincerely an amazing experience, and we will absolutely be back soon. Thank you for the perfect bachelorette party night.

The environment of Union Rooftop is definitely unique. As you enjoy your meal, you have a really cool view of all the downtown skyscrapers. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I experienced this with the cajun chicken alfredo I ordered. The chicken was very chewy/rubbery; not something you want when it comes to chicken. I informed the waitress and she quickly took care of the problem by comping the meal. This is a great ethic to have as a restaurant. It tells me that they stand behind the food they make. Unfortunately, I'll probably never order anything with chicken from them again, but I definitely would come back to try something else.

I came here for the Lady Gaga vs. Madonna drag brunch and it was awesome! I was mostly impressed by the food to be honest I had always figured this places hook was the performance they had while you were eating but I actually found the food to be quite delicious and they did quite a good job with the drag show as well. I will most likely be coming back here at some point. My only complaint was that they forced everyone to wait downstairs until the brunch started which got super cram packed. Although it was Pride weekend so it might not be this way all the time.

VEGANS, VEGETARIANS AND ANYONE WITH DIETARY RESTRICTIONS BEWARE!!!!!! Went to a drag brunch. Good energy ,friendly staff. EXTREMELY overpriced. We ordered bottomless mimosas and were charged 3x so it ended up being $90 for 1 bottle of champagne split between the 3 of us. I gave this two stars because i follow a strict vegan diet. I asked ahead of time to confirm that my entree was vegan. When I was served the meal, I asked again to confirm and was assured it was. The first bite I knew something was wrong, but I took a second bite. After I had taken two bites, the server informed me i was served the wrong burger and was in fact served meat. I am still incredibly upset. I haven't eaten meat in 2 years and that is an unacceptable mistake. the server and MOD were very nice and apologetic and comped my meal. But really, that doesn't suffice. I still feel sick to my stomach. I would never recommend this place to a vegan after this traumatic experience. What if I had an allergy? It's ****** up.

Really difficult to order a drink when you have to walk through a ton of people and drop the drink because someone push you! And its impossible to get to the bathroom with out getting push,shoved and avoid a fight to get there

My table ordered the calamari appetizer, which we enjoyed, and then for my entree I ordered the Seafood Flatbread. The meal I received did not seem to be quite what I had remembered the menu description to be, but we were preoccupied with another MAJOR nonfood-in-the-food issue of a fellow diner (she had a 2inch by 3 inch metal plate buried in her fettuccini). Management graciously and quickly addressed that, so kudos for that. However, my dish seemed a replay on the appetizer...breaded calamari and battered pickled peppers (exactly the appetizer), with battered shrimp, marinara, cheese and bread. Back home the next morning a girlfriend told me this wasn't what she remembered the dish to be, and so I checked the menu online and yep, NO pickled peppers listed, and no mention of the shrimp being battered. It was carb overload and quite disappointing to have them deliver this sorry dish in place of the actual Seafood Flatbread menu item. Should be 1 star but the helpful and competent waiter and the great management response to my friend's issue redeemed a star.

Great rooftop, and a decent drink menu. Have been here a few times through the last couple years and am never that impressed. The food is overpriced and not that great. Service is also typically pretty mediocre. In the winter months the rooftop is covered and heated so you can still enjoy the setting up there.

We had a rooftop brunch reservation at Union for my sister in law's birthday. When I think of brunch, I had envisioned quiet, low-key meal...nope! The moment the elevator got up to the rooftop all I can hear was the blaring music--totally unexpected! We were seated at the tables two rows from the DJ. It's definitely not for everyone to have brunch at a restaurant that plays music so loud you can barely hear the person across the table. This was a pleasant surprise for me and my group, especially since the music elections was great Our waiter was excellent- very nice and attentive to our needs. I had the All American breakfast...and it was decent. With all that said, I absolutely enjoyed my experience there and will definitely go back for brunch here!

Some of the best vegetarian food I've ever had in Minnesota. Ordered the tandoori taco and it was incredible. My boyfriend got the vegetarian chicken strips which came in an adorable fry basket and were really crispy. Service was not great, waiting a while for refills and for someone to swing by and grab our order. Will be back for the food alone, though.

Listed in Google as place to get coffee. It is a Bar, also a very expensive restaurant. They were nice and let us sit and have a coffee truing to warm up before going to the State Theatre down the street.

I was in town to visit a friend and we had reservations for dinner. I had made reservations for five o'clock but I would say that reservations are not needed before a six o'clock. I would recommend making reservations and going later because the view would be prettier. We both thought our meal was tasty. I ordered the Chicken Cordon Bleu and my friend ordered the Cajun Chicken Pasta. We thoroughly enjoyed our time.

Service and food were good. We came for the Mother’s Day brunch. The Buffett was really good food. Service to get seated was lacking. Showed up at 10:50 for an 11:00 reservation and waited a 1/2 hour for the table. We had 5 people so they had to wait for a 4 and 2 to empty. They kept seating people that came after us so no chance for this to happen. They then seated another group of 5 that came after us. I had to finally get a little frustrated with them. I try to avoid getting upset with staff but this one had me extremely annoyed.

Great rooftop venue. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the extensive wine list. Food was delicious and the service was great. A follow up visit to the street level Bar&Grill was less fulfilling than the previous visit to the Rooftop. Food was just ordinary. The server was new but she did a good job. Not likely to return to the street level again.

I always have an incredible time when I go here. The staff are very nice and I haven't run into any issues with other patrons. My friend had lost their phone during pride and it was turned into the manager, the staff was very helpful in helping my friend locate their phone and had them unlock it to prove it was theirs and I appreciate that they just weren't handing it back to anyone.

I am disappointed to have to write this review but what ultimately brought me to the decision was how our situation was handled by management. 2 weeks ago we reserved bottle service and showed up with a larger than expected group. The union was very accommodating and we had an excellent time. We ended up purchasing 3 bottles and charged it to my fiancé’s debit card. At the end of the night he signed for it and we went on our way. The next Monday he checked his checking account to find that the union had charged a second charge for $550 on top of the 3 bottles we had paid and signed for. He called the union to clarify why he was being charged the extra amount and they immediately blamed me. I had left around midnight and they claimed I signed for this at the end of the night. After several phone calls to clear this up- they refused to send us receipts showing what this charge was for and could not provide a signed receipt. We even went as far as asking for security footage, but were denied that too. They were extremely defensive and uncooperative throughout this process and we ended up having to get our bank involved to settle this for us. The bank decided it was in fact fraud and refunded our money. What was an amazing night turned into extreme disappointment. We will never go to the Union again. Not once did they apologize or try to help us figure this out.

Unfortunately, we left Union Rooftop underwhelmed. Service was great and atmosphere was fabulous (although very drafty and thus cold at times). We were most disappointed by the food. It wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't very good either, especially for the price. We were surprised given the caliber of the atmosphere. The fish (fish and chips) was the worst I've had at a restaurant; very bland. Rest of our party of 6 gave their food similar reviews. We'd maybe go back for the atmosphere and cocktails but would skip dinner.

Went here for my 30th Birthday with my siblings and we had a good time. It was winter so I wanted to try a cool rooftop atmosphere to keep me in the spirit of being outside sort of I guess. We enjoyed ourselves. But this place is spendy and the food is Trash! My brothers wings were undone and gooey and the appetizers are so small it's a joke what you pay for just because it's downtown. Won't be back.

This restaurant was not all that great. I don't if I came at a bad time or what. There was only one server. My pancakes did not come out as described in the menu. It came out with a strip of whipped cream on it. When I asked for the fruit (that was supposed to come with it), I was brought out a plate with raspberries and cut molded strawberries.

Sometimes I think if they dialed back on the technique required to pull off the dishes and stayed simpler they would be better off

Not what I expected.

Union rooftop houses SIM shows events ( sound in motion) which is basically a concert promoter. When you buy tickets online through them they charge you double to your account(like you wouldn’t notice). And won’t refund or make the right correction. Or can’t find a number to call.

Ultimately, this place is good, but not great. Good food, but expensive for what you get. As expensive as other places downtown but lower quality. The sangria is AMAZING but is probably the only thing I would go back for. Also, the service can be really hit or miss. Better to check out other places if you’re wanting the best of downtown!

I visited the Union Rooftop for a business visit with a few visiting colleagues as I've done a few times before. This visit was good as they all have been. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the restaurant and patio are very nice. We've had drinks on the rooftop before and the experiences were a bit better in visits past though we'll certainly happily give Union Rooftop another chance.

I almost don't want to share this with anyone else, but the roof top seating is great. Nice view of downtown and even in the winter it is cozy and warm. We were there recently and had great service, actually wonderful service. Truffle fries are great.

Amazing food and atmosphere! Serving a table of 8 in the middle of a dinner rush on a Saturday night with no flaws in execution or timing of apps and main course is not always accomplished at many places. They nailed it with no nonsense and pleasant service. Yes, they write things down thank you! When others beside your server run your food to the correct person it is a sign of a place having their stuff together. My 10 oz. filet mid-rare was perfect and buttery. The crab cake add on wasn’t that great, but I’m from Maryland and it was just an experiment for me. Every other aspect of our visit was perfect, including the bartenders during our “late night portion of our visit. The DJ was awesome as was all of the beautiful people working there. Everyone was friendly! You don’t get that in a lot of cities during late night fun. Thank you! We’ll be back!!

Got there early on Sunday, so we were able to get a seat. Staff was very busy, but attentive. Food came quickly and was quite good. Price was reasonable. Only complaint was the music. It was much too loud, so we had to talk loudly, or repeat ourselves, and there were only two of us across a small table. I noticed others having to talk loudly, and frequently being asked to repeat.

Ordered an old fashioned, they used Maker's. Good whiskey... It tasted like bitters and nothing else. Very slow service - it was on a Monday and they were busy - so they get a pass. Girlfriend ordered "pan seared" scallops and they were white on all sides. Not even brown. Definitely not seared. I got the duck breast. Not crispy skin, very mushy. It was cooked super brown all the way through. The oysters were great. For $200 definitely disappointed. I would go elsewhere for better food. Staff was very nice.

From their avocado toast, their Huevos Rancheros, to unlimited mimosas, their Sunday Brunch and drink options/pricing are PHENOMENAL! Sit on the rooftop! The views and vibes are excellent, and they usually have a DJ playing as well! Every time we make a trip to Minneapolis for a weekend visiting friends, we always make this our Sunday Brunch destination!

It is 2 stars if you ended up under glass roof. With room half-full, it was unbearably loud there, to the point of cringing. I can't remember a venue that was in more need of acoustic panels. Next time you do renovation, stress acoustics to an architect you hire. The personnel was very nice and moved us to a table outside. Food was alright, overpriced, but you pay for location.

We had set a reservation up thru OpenTable and not being familiar with the restaurant - first timers. Didn't realize it was separated as a rooftop and the bar/grill. So a little disappointed with the lower level. The food was OK and service was great but look at their website to make your reservation.

Had a reservation at 8PM for 4 people. Luckily they placed us on the wall next to outside which it wasn't so crowded/loud. Food was delicious although it can be pricey, service was great, view was awesome! Parking fairly easy!

Just ok, need a reservation for rooftop unless you want to take a chance on bar seating being available. We went on a Tuesday. Lits of reservations and they said 35 min wait.

Literally every time I eat there I say it's my last time eating there, and then a friend tricks me into going there. The food is just always underwhelming for the feel of the restaurant, and the drinks are subpar.

So far horrible service! Literally watching two female servers staring at me, after the host found a table for me. One eventually brought over a glass of water with a fake a** smile. Went over the menu, looked up, waved at both ladies to let them know I was ready to place my order crickets

Great spot for beers. 32 self-pour taps. Big screen TVs are great for watching the game. Staff is helpful and drinks are good. Food is food-truck style ordering, so it’s a casual, laid-back vibe. They have board games and some electronic games. They’ll do game-day specials and freebies/games too.

I didn't go up to the roof top but the interior was nice. Much more of a bar feel than I anticipated, but that isn't bad. The food was good especially for the price.

Nice little view of the city. The main attraction of the restaurant is the view. The food is good, but doesn't stand out. Great place for big groups! Make sure you reserve, it gets busy.
