This place is attached to a very cute plant shop and is filled with plants itself! I wouldn't call it small, because it does have a patio and a good amount of seating, but it's definitely cozy. Our server was charming and helpful, the food is perfectly portioned, and everything is well-priced in my opinion. Will for sure be back!

Tim Michalski

One of the best breakfast spots in St Paul. The food is fantastic, healthy, and has a hand crafted feel. The brunch drinks are superb!! This is wonderfully far from a greasy spoon... The fresh floral air walking into the restaurant sets the tone for your experience and reminds you too come back again when you leave satisfied.

Levi Hall

Very good food and fast and friendly service. Love the area around there too, lots of big beautiful old homes just a short walk away.

Rachel Hanowski

A cute little breakfast place! There is street parking right in front of the café. I will say the food was fine but nothing exceptional. My pancake was HUGE and slightly undercooked as a result. Even my husband's normally sized pancakes were undercooked. Other than that the atmosphere was nice. Our waitress was also very sweet.

Daniel Matuska

The food and service was excellent. I felt compelled to order more than one item from the menu. Most of the items I can't find anywhere else.

Todd

Went for breakfast. The food was very good and tue staff was friendly. Busy place on a saturday morning

Aidan Olson

Waiter took long time vary crouded and barly was able to get food to table because of croud. Vary loud

Padraic McGuire

Always great food and service. Our fav breakfast spot

Bob LaCour

Service and space are wonderful, the wait staff should advise that the b-fast has a New Orleans spice to the fare, as not all descriptions include that price of info ! All in all good experience.

E Merritt

Yummy! The biscuits and gravy are very good. My husband is a picky biscuit man and he liked this dish a lot. Coffee was good, and the interior was cozy and inviting. Get here early as it get busy, although they seemed to turn tables pretty quickly. Skip the Quiche. It was underdone and not great. I should have gone with the Bahn Mi Benedict as it was my first choice and I didn't get it. Looked excellent. I'll gladly go back to try it!

Lourdes M Quinn

Was nice little crowded but great! Try the Benedicts

Shannon L

I wish I could go every day of my life (-: .. Staff is always great and friendly! Food of course is off the chain and the flower shop right next door gives this place an amazing vibe.

Mary Nestingen

Good food! Attentive wait staff. Only negative...no parking lot. Guess they don"t have option, one restaurant has all the lots.

Joe Masco

This place uses super fresh ingredients and it makes the food fantastic. It is connected to a florist which makes the atmosphere really nice. This place fits in really nicely with all the other restaurants on Selby. I especially like the biscuits and gravy.

Bonnie Matrious

Small cafe with good food! Flower shop adjoining so you can browse and sniff while your waiting for your table.

Brandon Wold

This is a great place for brunch! Seating is a little limited and wait time can run a little long, but the food is great: lots of zest and flavor. Check out the plant shop next door or walk around Cathedral Hill if the wait is long.

This was our second time visiting this restaurant and the service was just horrible. We are never coming back again because of how our waitress treated us: 1. Rude greeting at the door: There were few vacant tables when we arrived but …

Joseph Lipske

Bahn Mi Benedict was very good. Great balance of flavor. Crepe was ok felt it lacked sweetness and texture. I would eat there again

Karen Keller

Very expensive fir the food size and quality

Lindsay Samelian

Very nice staff and atmosphere. The food is good. Had a crepe and mimosa. Nice, light breakfast.

Tate Fontenot

SOOOOOO good. Lots of GF options and great service. Cool flower shop next door too.

Amanda Seese

Soooo good!!! Super cute town with artsy shops and The French Hen has great customer service with phenomenal food!! Worth the stop, even if it's a little detour!

crobert houghto

You'll find some unique dishes for sure. Plenty of options, we had a hardtime choosing what we wanted because everything looked and sounded so good.

Joan Boughton

Food and service was excellent but noise level was extreme.

Heartbeet Kitchen

Their hash browns are the best in town. So crispy, every single time. Also love their pancake, which is huge! Their prices seem high when looking at the menu, but I’d suggesting splitting one dish and getting side, as portions are very large.

Good ambience, beautiful plates and a clean environment but the food lacks spices and flavor plus the service is too slow for having less than 20 tables and at least 3 servers. Never got offered a coffee refill, dessert, they didn't even ask for our feedback on the food or if everything was ok and had to ask the waitresses twice for some Jam and I got it after we almost finished eating. Based on the experience the food is definitely overpriced and will not recommend this place.

Trevor Beaty

Came here for breakfast and the French toast was delicious

Jeris Sunneberg

I'd like to say this is one of St. Paul's best kept secrets, but it's often pretty busy, so it can't be too secret. I love everything the menu has to offer (especially the creole market hash), and always appreciate the genuine staff members. Also love the little touches like fresh flowers on the tables.

Patience Stewart

Cute place, and very popular! The food was overall decent, but our problem was we had too many little issues for the prices they're charging. So, to list: One of us had the American, which is eggs, toast, and hashbrowns. The toast arrived totally dry (not even any butter on the side) and had stale edges, and the eggs were cold. We asked for jam for the toast, which never arrived. Another person had the biscuits and gravy. Again, cold eggs. I had the banh mi benedict, which was warm, but not hot. My only complaint for it would have been that the plate it was served on was far too small-- the bread was tasty, but thick and extremely difficult to cut without spilling all of the toppings and sauce off the plate. High prices for coffee. I understand many people will sit at a restaurant and drink refill after refill, so prices must reflect that, but it makes more sense to charge a lower cost for the initial cup and then charge per refill. I've been a waitress and understand that on busy Saturday mornings, it's difficult to stay on top of things. These complaints are not about the service, but rather about the amount of little mistakes that occur while the food is $16-18 a plate. I also understand that prices may reflect the fact that the owners may be trying to give their waitstaff a living wage, which brings me to the tip. On the receipt you're given, there's a handy chart that tells you what 15, 20, and 25% of the bill would be-- however, it's calculated based on the total AFTER tax, not before. On the subtotal is how a tip is supposed to be calculated, and for the restaurant to be asking for the tips based on the taxed total left a bad taste in the mouth. Again, not the server's fault, but a fault of the business model.

Two words ... breakfast poutine.

Pat Dobier

Food and service were very good. It can get a bit noisy when full

Lucas Miller

If you need a new brunch joint, that's cheap but has really great food, this is your spot. It's in a nice location next to an adorable plant shop. 10/10 would eat at again.

Airiana Hill

KellyCFoy

Great food, nice atmosphere, and good staff. A+

Melissa Trunk

It's been a while since I've been here, but I recall the food being good and the atmosphere being welcoming.

Jesse Mitchell

Somewhat expensive for breakfast but it won't break the bank if you only go once in a while. The food is definitely good

Christine Hanley

It is super adorable. Its co-located with a flower shop where you can make your own terrarium. The coconut lime French toast is amazing. All the people working there were super friendly too!

Mark Davis

Amazing. The service is awesome. The gentleman server this morning was great and refills very timely. The French toast is delicious and the quiche was oh soo good.

Danilo Ojeda

Very good place and environment, but the seating service needs to improve. They had to clean majority of the tables, instead of cleaning a few and seating people.

Alison Kuhn

Great food! Perfectly done

Robert Lewis

Great coffee. Reasonable choices.

Taylor Davis

Love this spot for a cozy lunch with a friend. Had an awesome Banh Mi Benedict eggs and a blood orange mimosa. The other picture is a hash which was great as well!

Claire McManmon

Cozy restaurant with a creative menu, excellent coffee, and friendly staff. They take reservations of groups of 5 or more and I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you have that many people since there is very limited seating and the wait line piles up. However the wait is worth it!

Brent Timm

Incredible flavors and charming ambiance. Catfish Benedict is a must try!

Jamie Fox

Great breakfast we ordered the Banh Mi Benedict which was amazing! Will definitely go back when in the area again

Elle Paulson

Great atmosphere, excellent food, and friendly servers. Specialty drinks are fun and imaginative. It's a little spendy but not above what you would expect on grand in the neighborhood. The creole dishes do have a nice kick!

Angela Weeldreyer

I recommend crepes + coffee!

Jennifer Hatt

Lovely place with flower and gift shop attached. Really enjoyed my breakfast here! Staff was very friendly. Loved that they had real maple syrup.

Tracey Fredrick

Food and atmosphere were good. I was slightly disappointed with my food on the first go around, but mostly because I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting. It still tasted good, just wasn't what I wanted. I would go back and order something else in a heartbeat.

Mike Otten

Great food. A bit pricey, but very tasty. Cool atmosphere and lot of plants from next door. A fun place with great food. Unique dishes too. I would definitely recommend the Creole hash, the blueberry pancake and the cheddar biscuits with gravy.

Norman E. Kimball Jr.

Wow! What a great space and tasty options!

Natasha Morris

Great food cute atmosphere

Zaria W

This was my favorite experience. It reminded me of the the down home heart of Georgia breakfast places. To be seated you travel through a gentle flower shop and can see the cute little storefronts hidden from the booming metropolis. Extremely tasty. Classic breakfast every texture smell and placement was harmonious. Very calm patrons with a pleasant and attentive crew. The store endorses Black lives matter supporters. Their receipts add east to tipping. There's free WiFi and the specials are readily available Note: the French hen roast is dark not blonde.

Rita Lynch

Interesting menu and great waiters.

Margaret Janzen

My coconut lime French toast served with berries was amazing! I'll be going back!

Tim Hoekstra

Our new favorite brunch spot!

Davis Turner

A great option for breakfast in the Minneapolis/St. Paul Area. It isn't that close to the metro—we ended up having to jog for a while. The cozy atmosphere is really nice, and the food tasted of high quality.

Dayle Quigley

Great service. Love the food. They portions are big do you could share a plate. We got in before the Sunday crowd by getting there just after 9. By the time we left a little after 10 there was a wait.

Greg Pfeffer

Great little breakfast place! The blueberry pancake (it's enormous) was amazing!!!

Patricia Strot

Quaint place, great service and yummy food.

Jamie Saliga

Nice atmosphere. friendly staff and great food. A little pricey though especially for my Canadian dollar.

Enjoyed breakfast here. Good choices, could use bit more favor but all a great choice.

Tim Graham

This is our favorite spot for breakfast. The food is consistently high quality and service is great.

Gerardo Alarcon

My wife had the biscuits and gravy and I had the eggs Benedict. Both were delicious. The service was great and my wife loved the "brunchy" atmosphere.

John Russ

Very trendy, great brunch spot! Not a huge menu, but a good variety of dishes, you won't be disappointed. A little expensive but it's worth it!

Tony Loyd

An amazing first visit. We love the coffee here. That's a great first step. I had the salmon scramble. It was delicate and flavorful. My wife had Creole Market Hash. It was savory and hearty. The portions we're generous and the service was attentive. We will return again, and again.

Matthew Potter

Catfish eggs Benedict, great cajun seasoning, fried green tomatoe, poached egg with perfect amount of sauce! Shredded pork collard greens were amazing! The hash browns were crunchy, not overly buttery or oily, very good!

Josh Tepley

Food was amazing and friendly staff! Little pricey but worth it for the quality.

Sue Johnson

We tried the French Hen on a whim and a Google search. Pleasantly surprised. Reasonable prices, smart portion sizes, and a quaint atmosphere. The soap in the bathroom smelled amazing!

Lori Germscheid

Long wait for our table!! Service was perfect!!! Food yummy!!! Overall great experience.

Caitlin Jones

First time here and it was excellent! Our server was super personable and very attentive (male, tall, brown hair, it was too busy to hear his name but if the restaurant reads this I hope you know which one he is and tell him thank you!) The coffee was great, which I know is an odd comment for black coffee but often it can be sour but it wasn't here. I had the coconut lime french toast at the server's recommendation and it was freaking amazing! Will recommend to everyone!

Robert Axberg

Very friendly atmosphere. Good food. I ordered a breakfast of eggs, potatoes, and toast. Very tasty.

Lindsey LaCoste

Yum. Lovely food and sweet little place to breakfast.

Paul Rodts-Palenik

I had the cheddar biscuits and gravy with two eggs and hash browns. Everything was an absolute delight.
