To this day the firm has a score of 4.4 stars over 5 and that rating has been calculated on 419 reviews.

As you know, we do not usually bother to place tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of American restaurant.
Amazing all around environment, great food & prices. Very clean establishment, with thoughtful & knowledgeable staff. Herbie's is an entire experience in itself, & a phenomenal tribute to my friend Herb Brooks.
It was crazy busy; I think because of the pink concert. There were two bartenders, one taking care of people seated at the bar and one making the drinks for the patrons at the tables. The guy was moving at the average speed for a bartender but the woman was moving probably three times as fast as him; cranking them out like a machine. She was injured from the constant repetition of movement from her work but she didn't let it slow her down. She didn't even look stressed; I've worked in the restaurant industry while in college and I can tell you I would not have had her composure. Tammy, you deserve a raise. I wish you all the best.
A overly fancy hockey-themed spot next to the hockey arena? We were so confused. Food was good. We were in town for a dance event with kids and not the hockey game that afternoon, but we needed a place to eat so here we were. However we …
Delicious food, top shelf drinks, patio for cigars, live music, and amazing staff!!!
Good local beer list and full bar. Excellent food.
Went in with my mother one afternoon/ early evening to see my daughter working. Services being well above EXCELLENT(my daughter Katie :) ) The food was really very good, Lemon Chicken sandwich is oh so delicious. The atmosphere was very …
The food is the only reason I’m not giving one star. The roast chicken was amazing. My bartender with the purple hair however, I think her name was Tanya, she seemed like she was in a genuinely bad mood. She was snooty and barely gave us the time of day. We never got the waters we asked for and our drinks took way too long for how slow it was. We hope to give it another chance in the future.
Fantastic food and fantastic service!
Really great looking old school place inside..and finally.. a classy place with coat hooks and charger outlets under the bar. We just heard about some of the drink options they have to offer. Service was nice and friendly.
We have wanted to try this place out for a while, and tonight seemed like a good time. I admit we were boring and had burgers, so this is not a review of the scallop dish or anything expensive. We split a house salad, which was delicious. …
Good food, good service, 50 feet from the Ordway.
Spot on service. Refilled water without needing to ask. Food was delicious and seasoned just right. Downside was the thin cut fries get cold really fast. Great beer and cocktail menu.
You get what you pay for and I'm glad I went here little more up scale but still cozy will be coming back
Cozy. Not pretentious. Delicious chicken caesar salad. Cornbread was amazing. Great brunch. Excellent irish breakfast tea. Nice waitress and manager came around. I'm definitely going back.
Great food and service in the perfect spot!
Great food! Rated wonderful and nice portions. Their waitstaff needs training. No matter how many times I go there, the service is always slow, incorrect, and/or uneducated on the menu. They also have some really stupid rules. For instance, if you want a glass of juice, you can only get orange juice. Buy... you can order drinks from the bar that have cranberry or grapefruit juice in them. Figure that out. I keep going back because the food is worth it and the architecture is amazing.
Martini & wine was great. Fish cake, cauliflower salad, and pork shank were all excellent. Casual atmosphere.
I never knew about this place until recently. Looks classy. Serves good drinks. The bartender was also very respectful, and knowledgeable. The interior decor takes the crown; it's simple and elegant. I will absolutely recommend this place. …
Great service. Wine recommendations were spot on. Fish taco app was excellent.
The bartender messed up our drink order (2 vodka on rocks with a twist, nothing complicated), then completely ignored us. We tried flagging him down to pay. He walked right by several times without stopping. The other two bartenders didn't help. One was busy chatting with three of the servers. I had to get the hostess to help us. Needless to say we cancelled our reservation for dinner and went elsewhere. Really disappointing.
Went before an Ordway event, which was also before a Wild game. First time there. Wasn't anticipating much given the busyness of the place. I was pleasantly surprised. Staff was super attentive, the burger came quickly and was way better than a typical bar burger. The locale is very classy and has a good vibe. Not the cheapest place, but this is an example of getting what you pay for.
Wonderful bar service. The food was ok but I'm hoping there other food is delicious.
We took our mom for a late Mother’s Day brunch. Once again we tried a new restaurant. This time we went to Herbie’s On the Park. Warning- long post We ordered our meals with a few substitutions because some of us do not eat meat. When the food came out we were missing several items. They finally arrived a few minutes later. The French toast was a great tasting item. The other food was bland, but most things can be fixed with salt and pepper. What could not be fixed was the burnt toast, soggy sausage and the extremely old fruit that was given. My daughter decided to pick around her toast and eat it anyways. The entire time we ate and talked we were not checked on. We eventually waived the server over and we asked for an order of bacon to go to replace the sausage. She brought the bill and said she would get a new order in. The bacon came out in just a few minutes. When we opened the box we realized it came out so fast because it was barely cooked. At this point when Sarah came back several minutes later I asked her to adjust the bill for the meat and the fruit which was a substitute for another person’s meat. Sarah said she would let the manager know and took the bill. The manager came over a few minutes later and asked what was going on. He said he didn’t get the details from Sarah. We then had to tell him all the issues we had. He said he would come back. He came back and said he would take one meal off (the one with 2 orders of bad meat and burnt toast) and half off the other that had the bad fruit. We thanked him and then Sarah slid the bill on the table and walked away. My money to pay had been sitting out on the table since the first time Sarah brought the first bill and at this point we just wanted to pay and leave. She eventually came back and took the money and bill. For 20 minutes we sat and waited and watched her serve other table, but never come back with our change. After a full 25 minutes Tom brought the change to us and said “Here you go.” We immediately left and for the first time in years I didn’t leave a tip. While the server is never responsible for bad food how a situation is handled after than fact and the level of customer service received is definitely a reflection of the restaurant. Although Sarah could not find the time to come back and bring us our change she was able to come OUTSIDE of the restaurant with plates in her hand and ask why she was not left a tip. That was completely inappropriate and can definitely be seen as hostile. Once our bill was paid we should not have been “confronted” outside of their establishment. That same level of interest in us should have been given while we were trying to enjoy brunch. After getting home I called to speak to the manager and this time I got Bill. He said that the server doing that is not customary and told me to have a good day. Thanks Bill. I’ll have a good day as soon as I find some good food.
Went there on a Sunday before a show at the Ordway on 4/7/19. I'm only giving it an average rating because: 1.) Service was average. Nice server, but I ordered a salad to come with my meal, and she forgot it. Ordinarily, I'd give her a pass, but it was Sunday, and it wasn't extraordinarily busy. Had to practically beg for a glass of water. 2.) The food was OK at best. I had the bacon-blue cheese burger with tomato jam, which by itself was excellent. It came with fries, but they were soggy. If I want soggy fries, I can go to Wendy's and spend $10 less for a burger and fries. (My burger was $17. For $17, it had better rock my world. It didn't.) My wife ordered mushroom risotto; it was more like mushroom ri-salt-o. It was so salty I could see her blood pressure spiking with every bite. For the $19 spent on the dish, they must have figured they would include the entire canister of salt to give us our money's worth. Not completely inedible, but worth avoiding. Because we were on a time schedule, we didn't take the time to complain and send things back, or even mention it to the server. In short, for a family of 4, we paid $100 for very average food and service. We took our lumps, and went to the show. I'm in no hurry to ever go back.
So glad we chose Herbie's for dinner before the concert at the Ordway. They're just steps apart and it was the perfect start to the evening. The interior is gorgeous, even more so when it's decorated for the holidays. Our favorites from the menu included the lemon chicken sandwich, the Herbie burger and especially the mushroom soup! You'd probably want to make reservations and they're available on Open Table. Parking at the Kellogg ramp was ideal as the exit brings you right to the restaurant. The Herb Brooks statue outside is just one more bonus.
Chef Kovacs is great at his job, seems like each new dish I eat is always better then the last!
We were there on a Sunday. The building is beautiful, the service was not. We had delicious Bloody Mary's and left to have lunch elsewhere.
A bit pricey but the food is excellent and wait staff attentive and friendly. Elegant, upscale decor is also a welcome change from the modern casual motif that is the current trend in restaurant design right now. If I see you wearing khakis and flip-flops to this place, I'll be sure to dump a drink on your head.
Beautiful establishment. Scenic location. Polite and friendly service. However much of the food and beverage was a disappointment. If I ever return I will play it safe with a nice salad. Their bread on the other hand was truly delicious.
Haven't tried a lot on the menu but the burgers are awesome. Seriously, really good. I should probably branch out. The staff is always super nice. We usually sit at the bar. It's pretty cool looking inside; cavernous, lots of dark wood. Everything about this joint is pretty solid. The only thing I don't like is that it's just a little too expensive.
The food is really good. It's a beautifully decorated space, very warm. Service is good. The only downside is the bar area is sports bar like and it gets really loud during games.
Wow Factor for acoustics and ambiance.
It is a good place before a concert, hope they have more choices for small plates during events
Really great looking old school place inside..and finally.. a classy place with coat hooks and charger outlets under the bar. We just had a couple cocktails. Service was nice and friendly.
Classic old school restaurant in the heart of St. Paul. Had brunch. It was classic food, well seasoned, fairly priced and had friendly staff. Great ambiance and views. Fun people watching. Even being so cold outside, you'll be warm with radiators by all of the windows.
We love this place and enjoy dining here before seeing performances at the Ordway.
Great space for a summer meal on the patio. Service was good and the food was excellent.
Beautiful interior, disappointed in service, apps & wine before attending Ordway show.
Sat at the bar. Great service from Dan. I recommend the scallop pasta and the French 75. Both were so delicious.
Had a drink so can not rank the food. Salads going to tables looked awesome.
I was in Saint Paul on a business trip from Toronto. I came to Herbie‘s on a recommendation and was not disappointed. In fact staff treated me so well! The wine and food was delicious. I had the scallop pasta with black spaghetti-so good! Highly recommended!
Delicious food and fun atmosphere! Definitely recommend! :)
Had the tavern burger with French fries. The fries were excellent. Nice burger. Simple. The onion was a very nice touch and tomato bacon jam was a good counter balance. I'd eat here again.
Beautiful space, great food & service
Amazing food (I had the omelet and hashbrowns) and a beautiful old building with awe inspiring architecture to boot....if I lived in Minneapolis I could see this becoming a regular hang out for me
For the price I expected much better! The burgers were mediocre. For the $16-17 they charge, there are much better options downtown. The fries were soggy and undercooked. The atmosphere was nice, but the food needs improvement. If you are looking for a burger, go somewhere else.
Decent bloody marys and fantastic wings! Our server was great and allowed us to order from the lunch menu even tho it was an hour too early (we really wanted to try the wings!)
Great service in a very cool environment. I'll definitely be back and with out of town guests!
