This Restaurant corresponds to the category of American restaurant.
Fabulous place for breakfast. Must order an apple cinnamon roll!!! I also had corned beef hash with poached eggs - otherworldly delicious!!! Excellent coffee, homemade jam and very pleasant and beautiful service too. Better get here early.
A little expensive for what it is... $30 a person for brunch and mimosas? Staff was friendly and service was insanely fast.
Food was amazing. Had the corned beef hash and it was great. Recommend you try the Irish coffee! Our server Nicole was awesome! The restaurant was nice and clean. we will definitely stop back here when we come in town again.
We work in the food industry in Wisconsin, and we don't like to wait for food, but I'd camp out the night before if that's what i had to do to have breakfast here, service 10/10, food quality 10/10. Shawn K was extremely busy but somehow he still did an outstanding job keeping all of us happy. Please give this guy a raise!!
Was recommended to visit this place while in Minneapolis. Definitely worth the visit! Fluffy, yummy eggs and great toast to complement my brunch. Was very busy, but was seated quickly.
Super fantastic food, fun, lively, and hugely popular spot for breakfast. Probably one of the best bloody Mary's you'll find. Better than average coffee. So if you are going for breakfast on a Saturday, try to get there by 9am or so, because they're standing in line by 10am.
Loved this place. It was the best breakfast food I have ever had. Its a lot, so its perfect for brunch. Attentive staff, cozy. 5 stars is too little.
Heaven for gluten free eats. All your breakfast classics made gluten free. I ate the waffles two days in a row and it was like being transported back in time to when waffles were breakfast and not a rare treat. Amazing.
Had the Kitchen Sink Omelet! Boom, lived up to expectation. Sweet spot, good service, great menu.
Great food and service. Super busy so get there early or make a reservation
I am NOT a morning person by any stretch of the imagination so as a general rule going out to breakfast is rarely my modus operandi, but this morning I found myself awake and with an unusual amount of energy, so I popped into the Hen House for a bite and was extremely pleased. From the moment I was brought to the table, Sierra was an amazing server. She was attentive, but not overly so, my drink order was taken within a literal minute of being sat and despite being busy was cheery and an absolute joy to have as a server. I'm pretty sure I found God at the Hen House, and to anyone reading, God is a Cinnamon Roll. BUT NOT JUST ANY CINNAMON ROLL! The cinnamon rolls at the Hen House. Soft, perfectly baked dough with tantalizing swirls of cinnamon gooeyness, topped with a generous portion of icing... I had never had a cinnamon roll that was as tender and pleasing on the outer layers as it was in the center. Sheer... Perfection! I will return soon, and am very much looking forward to it.
What a great breakfast place. Perfect diner atmosphere with a great bar top to sit. Got an omelette that was really good. Fantastic quick and friendly service.
The orange juice is worth the visit. Foods good too. Service good as well.
Came here while visiting Minneapolis for a week. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, far past generic friendly customer service. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu. We went in on a Sunday morning while it was very busy and the wait for the food was surprisingly short for how busy they were. I had the cinnamon roll pancakes and it truthfully was the best pancakes I've ever had. My fiancé had one of their eggs Benedict dishes and after trying a bite of that and his potato side you could tell the vegetables and eggs were high quality. It was so good we went back on our last day to have breakfast there again. The food and service was just as good the second time around
Great service, food was excellent. I'll be back on my next visit to MSP.
Excellent service and great food!! We had a large order to place: they were quick, professional and accurate on the whole process. Got our food on time and everything was great. Recommend highly and will use again!!
I ate most of my meals here while staying in Minneapolis over 4 days. Burgers for dinner were great with local brews on tap. Breakfast menu was varied to meet any diner's preferences and everything always came out hot and delicious. The staff was very attentive and friendly and I thank you all for your hosptality.
The food and service was good. I had the California Benedict it was good, my wife had pancakes, eggs and bacon. The eggs and bacon were cooked properly although the pancakes were a little underwhelming not bad but definitely not blow your mind amazing. Good job hen house.
Cannot day enough... biscuits and gravy were fantastic, coffee was good, and service was second to none. Didn’t get a chance to try the bakery, but everything looked amazing!
Excellent Food. Coffee, Honey, and Oatmeal ate # 01. All meals Perfected like the Menu. A little pricey.
Comfortable place. Like an old school Diner, well I guess it is an old school Diner. Food was decent and service was super fast.
Burger patty was tasteless and barely warm. Sweet potatoes tasted burnt and overdone, again pretty stone cold. The food we ordered was incorrect. When being seated by the hostess, she seemed to be the manager, was rude and inconsiderate. Waitress was nice and attentive though. Some employees looked over worked. Overall a lackluster experience.
Service was quick and friendly. Food was good. Key lime pie is excellent
Food came out fast. The wheat toast was good. Host was a little cold. My server at the bar was nice. Over all nice place. I want to come back.
I have been here 3 times for breakfast. I have never been disappointed. If you are craving a Great cinnamon roll this is your place
Short visit but drink selection is awesome with plenty of draft and bottled beers for any type of drinker. Food that we had was prepared quickly and tasted great. Definitely would return
Consistently good food. Its popularity speaks volumes.
Great options. Awesome service.
Service was excellent, their cinnamon roll was amazing, their coffee is also pretty good. Good place for breakfast if you are in the area.
The food is so good I always forget to take pictures
I will definitely be back. The food is made fresh and not what you expect. Their Spanish influence makes their plates exciting and full of flavor. You must leave room for their freshly made desserts.
Enjoyed my first time here a couple of weeks ago. The service was friendly and efficient and the food was good. I definitely be back for breakfast again and am looking forward to checking it out for lunch or dinner.
Great French dip sandwich. They had exactly the type of comfort food I was craving after a long day. The cake is excellent too.
Been here for happy hour a handful of times. Great people always working that are easy going and fun to converse. I haven't eaten off their menu but decent beer selection.
We stayed downtown after show and had breakfast here the next morning. Upon arrival you're greeted with a stack of caramel rolls that looks fantastic. Breakfast is great. I wanted to leave you a shot of the caramel roll but it disappeared within five seconds of getting to our table
This was one of my favorite parts of my trip. Went here for breakfast all 3 days of my trip. Everything I had was great - biscuits and gravy, cinnamon roll pancakes, and chicken and waffles. Friendly service. It gets really busy on the …
I would loved to have tried this place but once we got there the line was so long just to check in! I had made an online reservation but they said those don't work for the weekend, oh okay. Food must be really good for as many people that were there! So make sure you make reservations IN ADVANCE, NOT THE SAME DAY and on weekends well good luck! Those were the tips I heard the lady giving people!
I am never disappointed when I come here. Everything is delicious! Drinks, pancakes, chilaquiles, sandwiches, desserts, etc. -- I've tried lots of different things and am always happy. They can get kind of busy, especially around lunchtime when there is a conference or tournament going on downtown. However, 1 or 2 people can usually find a spot at the bar to sit right away. Also, they're very quick with service, which is appreciated for weekday lunches!
The service was friendly and attentive The food was prepared exactly as requested and the burger was excellent in flavor They had an amazing supply of homemade desserts to choose from. I didn't have room for dessert
As always, great and very friendly service. Delicious food! Buy 1 get 1 desserts, like what? Lol yum!
I judge a breakfast/brunch joint by its caramel/cinnamon rolls and hash browns. 5 stars. Great selection, great portions, great flavors! Yum. Just writing this is making me want to go back immediately
Really wonderful farm to table food. Love Deane’s Kombucha! We are making reservations for tomorrow too. Open a sister cafe in Madison WI please! Owner Barb was so sweet and got my mother a decaf coffee while waiting. A favorite.
Good food, reccomend reservations for Sunday morning, very busy
Great food! Great service! High prices...
We have been here a few times and the food is always consistent and good. I was a bit disappointed with the biscuits and gravy today only because the biscuits aren’t the kind I prefer, I like ones that are more flaky. Their dessert counter is amazing and their caramel rolls are a must try....they have diff flavors other than caramel, my fav is the Nutella.
This is an.excellent restaurant! Grear hash browns. Delicious fruit. Excellent smooth coffee. This is the kind of restaurant where everything is perfectly prepared using quality ingredients. Probably the best diner coffee I've ever tasted. Highly recommended despite the wait time for a table
The food was amazing everything was fresh... That was the best homemade jam i ever had!!! If you never been here to eat please get there.
Awesome friendly staff and excellent food. I had the Corned Beef Hash breakfast. This is the real deal, not something out of a can. I will be back!
Love this place Gygi is the best waitress ever!!!! Food was amazing and at a reasonable price . they have the best quote “ Life is to Short eat cake for breakfast” lol
Just in town for business but this breakfast was killer and way cheaper than my hotel breakfast. The serving was top notch as well.
Crowded with good food and service though sometimes it seems like you're trying to rush you out the door.
Fabulous food, fast service. We shared one of their large, soft and tasty cinnamon rolls. An egg, bacon and toast was delivered perfect in just a few minutes. An avocado, egg and bacon breakfast sandwich was delicious, and accompanied by crisp and tasty hash browns. The server was pleasant and attentive.
Not a bad place. We went here at 8:30 in the evening, but they have breakfast all day, which is super cool in my mind. I ordered an omelette and it was very tasty. The service is also very fast maybe we were the only people left lol. I recommend this place.
Reliable, affordable & delicious breakfast foods - I always get their avocado toast. It's so healthy and yummy :)
Great classic food items and a few dishes that are a twist. Very fast service, great selection of local and national beers on tap
The food was phenomenal! It was jammed packed and we had a wait, but it was so worth it! If you ever find yourself in Minneapolis, this is a must do... must go... must eat! I had French toast made like a cinnabon!
The rolls oh the rolls. I didn't even get a picture because we just inhaled them. Good food too... quality coffee and kombucha on tap. Only thing is its busy... count on a 15 to 30 min wait but the hostesses handle things like rock stars. Loved this place... went twice in one weekend and everyone was happy both times.
Finally stopped into Hen House through all the construction outside. The restaurant has a ton of energy, it's a little noisier but it's definitely inviting. We had the Cowboy Burger, Chilaquiles, Fat Hen Omelet & the Wholly Guacamole Chicken Sandwich. Everything was delicious, the sandwich was probably the best dish.
Great service even though it was very busy. Food was excellent
Found this restaurant while wandering around downtown killing time. Were we glad we stopped. The service was very good and we enjoyed our salads. I even tried the local kombucha. Loved the Vietnamese salad with chicken and my husband enjoyed his Cesar salad. Very nice size portions!
You had me at homemade hollandaise sauce. Great staff and great food. It's a must visit.
Great food, lots of variety. We shared 3 different entrees and they were all good.
Joined the quiet early morning diners today. No wait times, service was quick and friendly. The waffles with berries and whipped cream was delightful!
Love the Hen House. Great food - almost always fresh. Great service and good prices on beer and drinks. If you’re looking for a good place to go for HH or for a good lunch, dinner or brunch, check them out.
Surprisingly solid joint in an otherwise commercial area. Friendly service at the oversized bar, quick food. I'll probably try to come back before I leave town.
We brought in a group of about 20 and the staff were great. The food and service were great!
We had some very friendly staff who made us laugh and made us feel welcome right away. Considering how busy it was at the time, our food came fairly quickly, was fresh, and satisfying. Their homemade jam is a must- try!
This place is magnificent. Fantastic food, service, and aesthetic. Thanks for starting my day off right!
Great breakfast, serves food all day, fun atmosphere, food selections excellent.
Very good food and service, just a bit more $$ than I had hoped for breakfast
Awesome breakfast place with a nice hipster vibe. Kombucha on tap, dirty chai lattes, and awesome eggs Benedict. Get there before 11 am to beat the lunch crowd.
What a great brunch spot in downtown Minneapolis. Farm to table fresh food, great size menu so you can always find something that you want, the bakery is off the charts, and the service is always really friendly. I love the Fat Hen omelet …
Great breakfast menu & outstanding burgers. The blackboard pillars inside always have amusing messages on them, and the service is really good.
Stopped in on the way to the airport for an early flight. Really fast and incredibly friendly service, lots of options for a tasty breakfast, beer & cocktails available, and amazing desserts! The homemade jam is literally...the Jam.
Always amazing food and great service. My favorite downtown breakfast spot. Definitely more diner feel rather than boozy brunch feel. Plus the restaurant-wide puns are such a sweet touch.
Staff is really nice and the place is very clean. The music is chill and not too loud. The diversity of the menu is great and you have a wide range of choices to choose from. I took the bacon burger. The meat was cooked well and the overall burger was very tasty. The price/quantity ratio is great so you're getting full without emptying your pockets. Would recommend to anyone in the area.
Excellent restaurant with great service and a huge menu; for sure an item on the menu for any type of food lover. The restaurant make their on salsa, and their on yelly. The service is fast. Street metered parking or there are parking ramps/lots near by
Superb! The variety of food on their menu should please anyone, very well thought out! Service was quick, friendly and very helpful. The wait was about 20 minutes on a Saturday late morning. They have kombucha on tap (LOVE!) as well as mimosa offerings and a good selection of local brews on tap. Highly Recommend!
What a delightful breakfast. A fun and sunny atmosphere that's perfect for meeting up with friends and family. We grabbed some of their well phrased drinking glasses like "A party without cake is just a meeting". A nearby table had some talkative guests who had a few mimosas and we had a friendly chat all of us together. I think that in other places, this would have been extremely annoying, but there was a such a nice mood here it was as if we should have expected to get to know other people. We'll be back!
Great food and great service! Best breakfast I've had in the city! Can't wait to come back!
Really enjoyed all aspects of this restaurant. The decor was unique and comfortable. Our waitress was excellent, remembering all aspects of our orders to perfection, and was extremely personable. Best of all the food was great. Some of the best lunch salad bowls I've seen. I had the Veracruz Taco Salad and loved it!
I love love LOVE this place! The food is fabulous. There are even fresh bakery selections. The caramel rolls are mouthwateringly good! The prices are very reasonable. The service is wonderful and the atmosphere is super fun! It’s located …
The food was good. It gets busy and the service could be a little brusque, but it was efficient and tasty so no major complaints.
Cozy little place right in the middle of it all. Great food that came out fast and was fairly busy. The Hen potatoes were some of the best breakfast potatoes I’ve had. The homemade jelly on sourdough was very good as well. Parking was difficult to find and we had to walk a few blocks
We were in town for a cheer competition. Googled places to eat & this place caught my attention. So glad it did!! Can't wait to go back next year!
Great menu that covers healthy and fat filled. Good ambience and great food. Would have liked a few more options.
Great food. Fair prices & great service!! Nice atmosphere!!
This restaurant has something for everyone on its menu! I met up with friends for food and drinks here and it was an awesome experience. I do wish parking was a bit easier but that’s just downtown Minneapolis for ya. Will definitely be going back to this restaurant!!
Their food is always fresh and fantastic. Careful about their HUGE cinnamon rolls and such. Very good, and will be certain to give a sugar coma. Nice to share with at least one other person. Try their fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. Refreshing!
I was very disappointed with my dining experience here and hope it was an isolated experience. My mimosa was garnished with a rotten strawberry that the server nor bartender noticed, our food was lukewarm at best, and our coffee and water cups were empty for a very LONG time, 15+ minutes, before we flagged someone to get them refilled. Because the warm food tasted not so great, the server offered to bring me another hot plate and said it would be on the house. This was all fine and not necessary, but then somehow it became free dessert instead but that part was not communicated and became confusing. We didn't ask for anything free or want anything free, this is more along the lines of doing what you say you will. Our server seemed too busy to be attentive which makes me think maybe they were understaffed(?) The service was ok but our server was clearly stressed and short with us. When I mentioned I was disappointed she became annoyed and asked if I wanted to talk to a manager. No, I didn't, I wanted to relay to her it wasn't a great experience instead of tattling to her manager. I'm trying to give this restaurant the benefit of the doubt but in a city with hundreds of great restaurant options, seems like there is room for improvement at this one. We won't be coming back.
Did a day trip to Minneapolis coming from Baltimore, I was recommended to try the Hen House for breakfast... their food is delicious!! I got the cinnamon roll pancakes, I want to come back just for them
Went in with a party of 12 no reservation. Got us in super fast and fast service. Very good food
Enjoyed the Herbie sandwich for breakfast. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff to start the morning.
Delicious food and atmosphere, great service too!
My favorite gluten free experience. The service is great and efficient.
Wonderful place we gathered for a work/birthday luncheon. The food was delicious the staff was attentive to our needs. There was a little confusion at first with online reservation and where they were going to seat us but once they figured that piece out it was a fabulous time. Thank you. Highly recommend this place.
Pleasant atmosphere. I was in on a late weekday morning when it was largely empty and quiet. The food was plenty good, but not as great as I was lead to believe from the other reviews.
Delicuous homemade breakfast and a super quaint, yet airy and vibrant atmosphere. Service was also excellent.
Amazing customer service and delicious food options! I got the egg, bacon avocado sandwich and it was spectacular. I placed a pick up order and after a long cold walk we asked Chris if we can just get seated instead and she made us feel so welcomed 10/10 for the service from her. Best breakfast in Minneapolis !!!!
I loved their cinnamon rolls. You must get one. I had their sausage biscuits and gravy and asked for over easy eggs. The eggs were hard but the rest of the dish was decent. The fruit cup I got was not worth 4.50. It came with 6 pieces of fruit. The cappuccino was meh as well. The waitress was lovely and even gave me a free cinnamon roll for forgetting it the first time around.
Very good food and atmosphere. Great service. Recommended by this local guide.
The food was good. The restaurant was pretty cool decorated. My friend had eggs Benedict and the eggs were overcooked.
A fantastic brunch place with awesome desserts as well. I highly recommend the chorizo omelet!
This place was very cute and had a great menu. We called ahead to make a reservation for our large group and were put in a private side room which was so cute! Everyone in my group lover their breakfast. I would definitely come back next time I'm in the cities.
For a place called a hens house with chickens plastered all over the wall- you would think they would they would make their own chicken. The chicken and waffles is a couple frozen chicken strips with a bagged coleslaw on top and a mediocre waffle. The drinks were very expensive. We sat near a ledge with some fake plants that looked like the haven’t been dusted underneath of in a long time. Service was fine but everything else left something to be desired.
As with any busy popular diner, if you can muster up the confidence to eat by yourself, do it! You'll get a seat much faster! I was fortunate to get a seat to myself immediately at the bar around lunch time and enjoyed the blueberry banana pancakes. The walnuts and syrup were a perfect compliment to the fluffy texture of their pancakes and the blueberries added an extra fruity and refreshing taste.
Fantastic burger and fun atmosphere. Cappuccino came in a proper small mug and tasted great.
Excellent staff! It was a really busy time when I went in but they were on point. The dish i ordered was absolutely amazing. I would love to visit this place again and try the other things in their menu as well.
Big menu, big place that fills quickly at lunch. Substitions cost extra. My waitress was good.
Great vibe and food for breakfast/brunch! Delicious the hen omelette, stuffed with sausages, cheese and hash browns! The cons is that the usual wait is 15 minutes but it is absolutely worthy! The cakes on display looked gorgeous too, but I didn't have room to try any of them!
A pretty good greasy spoon, with quick service, ample seating, and breakfast food.
They need a better reservation system. Their seating process seems to ignore all reservations. Waitress was nice. Food was meh, nothing fabulous. Prices are too high. Dessert case is delightful and was buy one get one, so a better deal than the food items.
I never thought healthy could taste so good! Great service (the waitstaff almost fight to get to serve you!) and they were very patient and knowledgeable about the menu. The portions are huge, so be sure to go with a group and share a caramel or cinnamon roll (they are a MUST!!!).
Get the Wholly Guacamole chicken sandwich! Amazing flavor!!
Took my boyfriend out for dinner there. Great food, great atmosphere, reasonable prices. I'm a vegetarian and he's not but we both found something we loved!
Great gluten free, dairy free, and vegetarian options! I've have both an amazing salad and breakfast! Staff was great and patient with finding out info on the menu!:)
Our server Shaelin was SO NICE! The food is really great too! We have never been disappointed eating here! Visited 9/25 for a quick birthday celebration.
I finally went in to Hen House for breakfast. It was good, my server was friendly. I thought this place is fun, I'll order a cocktail for breakfast, my girlfriend did the same. We got our food, then she got her cocktail. My cocktail never came, after breakfast the waitress said they were out of blueberries for the mojito. I said it's fine, no problem. She asked if I wanted a different cocktail and I said no I'm good. I was disappointed but I knew it wasnt her fault, I was like it's cool no problem. Then she just stopped coming to our table and avoided us like crazy. When she did finally come over she seemed hostile towards us and wouldn't look at me. I said thanks have a good day and I tipped her well. Just would not look at me or say thank you or anything. Turned a fun breakfast into an hostile awkward situation. Probably wont ever go back. It was like she made an error, then took out her frustration on me.
Good place downtown for breakfast. Lots of different types of breakfast items on the menu, both classic traditional items as well as a variety of other unexpected offerings. Prices are average for downtown Minneapolis. Decore is filled with choalk boards with witty sayings. Lots of large windows for natural light. Also known for large cinnamon rolls.
Great menu and drink selection, food was fantastic. Best Eggs Benedict I have ever had. Can get quite busy, but a 30 min wait was well worth it.
Delicious as always! My favorite is the Farmers Wife Omelet. Yum!
Best biscuits and gravy in the metro. Friendly servers and affordable highly recommended
I love the BOGO on their desserts on Thursdays. Today the selection was a little slim, which is why I'm only giving them 4 stars.
A ton of food and drink options. I got a peppermint Patty Expresso drink that was fantastic. I had a breakfast sandwich that was really good, although they were really busy and it kinda tasted like cinnamon and sugar got spilt on it so it was kinda odd but was still really good which says something.
Great little restaurant. Friendly & fast service at fair prices. Fantastic baked items, cinnamon rolls to die for.
Incredibly busy. Definitely give yourself time to wait. If you want something sweet to eat from the bakery then this is your place. But the cinnamon rolls are definitely huge. They do seem to struggle with large groups
This place was fantastic! We got in within a few minutes on a Sunday mid morning. The menu was different than other places and a ton of gluten-free options. The next time we are in the cities we will definitely be back.
Eva was our waitress and she was so kind! she had great manners and social skills. have a great day eva:)
Absolutely the best breakfast... had the carnitas hash browns with apple salsa .. FANTASTIC! GREAT friendly service.
The service was atrocious. The food was ok. We waited 30 minutes before even getting a coffee after being seated. Not once did our server check up on us to even ask if we wanted refills on our coffee. This place is overrated.
Awesome place for breakfast. I ate at the Hen House two days in a row and both days the breakfast was fantastic.
Very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. Good food. I love the many wood booths. They create spaces of privacy and intimacy. Old fashioned decor but classy. Very warm place.
Great food service & prices.
Foods good but took 42 min to get a sandwich
Party of 8 and everyone thought their food was great! Friendly service. Worth the wait.
Nice casual atmosphere with good food and friendly staff
Really hip cool place to eat. Fresh food, good service, and nice atmosphere. It's always packed so get here early. I really enjoy this place. I'd definitely go back.
Great breakfast menu. They were very busy because of the Vikings game, but the service and food was outstanding.
Best breakfast I've had in a long while. We loved the atmosphere and every bite was enjoyable. Definitely worth a short wait.
Very good food. Lots of space and the service was pretty good. Fries were FANTASTIC!
Nice local cafe serving quality comfort food at fair prices. Definitely worth a visit.
Nice breakfast spot with all of the traditional favorites. Open all day with a variety of comfort food choices. Good atmosphere with an old-time farm / small town theme. Friendly service and good food. Definitely a place I would return to.
The breakfast food was good, not great (omelette s, scramblers, etc.) and the coffee was pretty bad. But goodness, those sweet rolls - enormous and delicious. Worth a trip just for those.
Good food, came in and had a wonderful brunch. The service was pretty good. It was quite crowded but I enjoyed the atmosphere there.
Awesome food and atmosphere for breakfast in downtown Minneapolis
The cinnamon roll I had was TO DIE FOR. Like if you come here and do not get a cinnamon roll, you will forever regret it. Probably the best cinnamon roll I've ever had. I had an apple one and my mom had a s'mores one, I tried and loved both! The wait was fairly long on a Saturday morning, but figured since I had heard such good things that it would be worth the wait. It was about 45 minutes. I'm not sure if there is a way to check in before arriving, but if there is I would go that route!
Bright and cheery breakfast spot. Gets very busy on the weekend for breakfast... By 9:30AM there was a line out the door. Our food was good. Didn't blow us away but we left happy. Their rolls look amazing...Next time for sure!!
I’ve mostly gone here for happy hour or week day lunches. They have fast service and great food.
