Very impressed with the service here. Friendly staff, great food and cocktails for the price. We will certainly return when visiting the St. Paul area.

Had lunch great service. Food was presented well and had intense flavor. Wish I could have eaten more. Nice portions and very good side dishes. Thanks

Short wait but was well worth it on a summer Saturday morning. Pleasant service. Got the Sweet Potato Hash with a side of cucumbers...outstanding mixture of tastes. Deb got the blueberry goat cheese crepes and the conversation stopped...not proper to talk with the mouth full you know. Thai coffee...all for under 25. Inconceivable. Incredibly delicious. Vegan or nonvegan you won't be disappointed.

We went tonight during restaurant week, but none of us ended up ordering off of the special restaurant week menu. Regardless, our experience overall was disappointing. Nothing was priced outrageously, but the food and service left a lot to be desired. For entrées we ordered the swordfish, regular goat cheese raviolis with prosciutto (not the restaurant week special) and the shrimp scampi. Both of the pastas were basically floating in oil. The raviolis had a great light, pillowy texture and the roasted tomatoes were a great accompaniment, but the oil it was all floating in was a huge turn off. The swordfish was good even tho the flavors were unbalanced. However, mine came without the white beans. The server corrected the mistake, but then proceeded to apologize to my friend across the the table and offered to comp a dessert. She never once apologized to me nor did I order a dessert. I guess the free dessert was good for the table, except for the fact that the Baked Alaskan was coated with marshmallow creme instead of meringue.... The servers didn't clear wine glasses for those not drinking wine and seemed to clear plates haphazardly, missing empty glasses and used silverware. I love the space and the ambiance. The place has potential. I am not sure if service and food would be better if it wasn't restaurant week, but I will not be recommending this place or going back any time soon.

Had a grand time at the bar. Great attentive staff and tasty beverages. Go. Enjoy. Imbibe. Eat. Be merry.

Peter Grafstrom

Don't use their parking garage

Allan Sharrett

Always solid service and good food. Lunch time can be very busy, so get there early.

sylvio brutus

Great place to experience. The food is made with a lot of love. Very friendly service.

Amber Watts

Chella Minor

The flavors of the food had a depth that was awesome. I am going back to try more.

Rude staff, long wait times, got food cold.

Ben Harris

I stumbled in as a lost tourist looking for brunch and I believe I found the best place in town. I ordered the sweet potato hash and it cost $9. I would have paid 15 no joke! Maybe even 20! Great food, wonderful service, flawless experience. 10/10

I really want to like this place, but.. We have been there three times now. The first time for drinks only. The place was empty so bar service was great. Drinks were good too. Our second visit was for diner before a hockey game. Again, place was pretty dead so the service was very attentive. Once again, drinks were good but the food was average (chicken wings, cheese curds, ramen bowel). Our third visit was for diner before a concert. We arrived ~2 hours before show time and they were already pretty busy. Drinks were again good and server was very attentive (and apologetic) as we waited nearly 1.25 hours for our food to arrive (burger and lobster roll)!!! My wife loved the lobster roll but my burger was overcooked. Our server did take a couple of drinks off of our tab to accommodate the long wait. Also, they comp your parking for event nights if you dine in the restaurant. So, if you keep your expectations low, you probably will be fine (especially if you take advantage of the free parking).

rod mason

They have a nice breakfast menu with quick service. The waitstaff is friendly and efficient.

Matthew Bennett

The food is great. They have some interesting takes on some traditional dishes, but everything I've tried has been well executed. Service is good. The restaurant is pretty small so it can fill up quickly at lunch time. You can probably get a table fairly quickly for two, but a group of more than that may need to wait a bit.

Joe Rastatter

Neal Desai

Wonderful small restaurant with fresh and creative dishes. I enjoyed the disco eggs, fried eggs with peppers, green onions, cilantro and dusted with spices on top of spiced potatoes Indian style (like the inside of a dosa). My daughters had the eggs with biscuits and really loved it.

Jose Silverio

One of the top restaurants in RVA

Jason Jacobsen

Location and decor are nice. Our server was more that a little clueless, we ordered a few shareable items as well as bread service (expecting the bread service to come 1st) It was all brought out at the same time(which wasn't quick). We we ate the warm food 1st, Pot roast sliders were good, Crab cakes are way overpriced for what you get and the bread service comes with a revolting scallion butter and no normal butter offered. Won't be back.

Jeb Miller

My favorite burger place n town.

Cindy Lou Hoo

DAMN THAT FLANK STEAK!!! Lived it here. First place we ate at Richmond, small place that was crowded but worth every bite. Really excited to come again, wasn't just basic breakfast food

Meghan Barger

Consistently fantastic food!

chad foley

Food was great. Friendly service. I will visit again.

Dalia Velazquez

The grilled chicken was over cooked almost burned! The prices are not worth the food. It's not a family restaurant more for people who work for offices. I felt extremely uncomfortable.

Denny Borg

Kellen Shearin

The breakfast burrito was great

Aaron Marks

great food and nice staff

Steve Shofar

Nice vibe. Fresh food.

Marina

Really tasty veg friendly options.

Leonardo Galhardo

Pork sandwich was OK, not exceptional. Friendly service and fair price.

John Locke

Good breakfast; fast service. Very nice staff; the lady kept my coffee cup full. And the most adorable little creamer servers...

Stacy Litchford

Small but contemporary space with a menu that is filled with dishes that are healthy and a fusion of Asian, Greek, and American food. Interesting concept. The food is good, but not necessarily my cup of tea. I would suggest a visit if in the area.

Ted Vadnais

Nice place

Mimi Zhan

Very creative flavors to everyday breakfast food!

Nicole Davis

A coworker recommended the restaurant so a group of us went to try it out. What a wonderful surprise. From the outside it’s easy to miss and is very unassuming on the inside. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. Loved the different combinations. We each had a different dish and we loved everything we tried. Definitely worth a visit!

Judi Hrapko

The food choices were not what I would have wanted but I had probably the best omelet I have ever had.

Matt Erickson

Underwhelmed, overall. Food was good, we had chicken wings and deviled eggs for appetizers, chicken noodle hotdish(?), lobster roll, ricotta cake and chocolate cake. The lobster roll and deviled eggs (wut?) Were the stars.

Jonathan Brier

The food is ok, but the pilaf didn't seem like it used the correct rice. The one thing it could be better at is having local brews on tap. Very limited options if you want good beer.

Marcia Cartier

Good food. Went during Restaurant Week.

Devin Lyle Cominskie

Service is exceptional, food is eccentric and kind of strange. If any in your party are remotely picky, go somewhere else, otherwise go for it.

Amir Uddin

Kevin Vaidya

Excellent presentation of food, taste and service. Disco Egg is the best.

Mahi A

Their food is divine! Service is on point. Prices are great. Went here for lunch while I was in Richmond and it was the best thing I had done that day.

Matt McCarthy

Wife, baby and I enjoyed a delicious brunch date here. I had the flank steak with cumin potatoes and it was cooked perfectly. Wife had the French toast and that was great as well. Really enjoy having the cooks out in the dining area, not sure why but it just seems to make got a more transparent experience. We'll definitely come back.

Rev. Ted Smith

Very good family place especially for special dietary needs.

Greg Spero

Solid late night food

Christopher Thomas

Probably one of the best breakfasts in Richmond. Had a breakfast burrito with grits and coffee.

jason goebel

Jessica Smith

Very rude staff the food was nasty and very over priced

Zachary Garza

Stopped in for a late morning brunch. The ambience is warm and airy at the same time... welcoming and invigorating. The menu matches with light takes on comfort fare and an interesting thread of Latin American flavors and ingredients throughout. Our party of three each had a well-appointed plate of eggs and accoutrements. We shared a bottle of French sparkling wine, and our server was attentive without being intrusive. All-in, our tab for three boozy brunches, including tax, totaled $60 - a great value for the quality of our experience! We'll definitely be back.

Ellery Carr

Nice for a hotel eatery.

Jamie Flournoy

Great service, great veg and vegan options, and a nice buzzy lunch atmosphere. It's busy at lunch time, but the service is fast so tables turn over fairly quickly.

Leonard Solarz

Friendly staff, management & barkeep. Great happy hour food prices. Rob makes a tasty chartreuse, Blue Sapphire & lime cocktail (Green Ghost).

Jude Worline

Restaurant was not even half booked, the wait on the food was almost an hour, and the plates were hotter than the food. Don't let the prices or look fool you. This is not fine dining.

Nick Wishard

Almost defines the word 'meh'. Went for a restaurant-week prix fixe and the item selections were nothing special and came out as nothing special.

Derrick Gall

Rose Switzer

Just finished our anniversary dinner at Citizen. The drinks were GREAT.... However... We were supremely disappointed with the food. My husband was charged full price during happy hour for a "Denny's quality" black bean burger. My pork belly was barely edible and not nearly cooked enough. It was seriously a mix between delicious nostalgia and toilet water. We were thrilled to take advantage of our MN Opera discount for free parking and 10%off. We never got the discount and only got the parking voucher after badgering our waitress about it. Do not get the food, but stop in for the drinks.

Vikram Nagulan

The brunch here is great. Disco eggs with masala potato was delicious

Bruno Sultanum

Great (healthy) food and service. Good for lunches on workdays.

Nathaniel Zdon

Very attentive service, and great food of course.

Rod Nenner

Small cozy cafe downtown, they take their food seriously and their atten6to detail pays off.

Andrew Matteson

Great service and food.

Steven Boyd

Outstanding breakfast / brunch in downtown! Busy but well managed on a weekend morning, staff was attentive and it was fun watching the chef from the bar with the open kitchen.

Amanda Tinebra

Good food, quiet spot to eat before an event at the xcel. Service was fast and drinks were yummy.

Leah Rampling

The meat was crumbly. It looked like ground beef was just pulled from the skillet and squished onto the bun. It was literally falling off of the bun. I almost needed a fork. That was a first. Plus it was dry and not good in flavor. The fried onions appeared to be from the bottom of the batch - they were small and overall pathetic looking. They also forgot the barbecue sauce. Just not good at all

Tracy Jacob

Unique dishes that are very flavorful. The pork tacos are great!

Andy Roberts

Good unique sandwiches and homemade sides. Quant atmosphere displaying local artists work. The menu ranges from fried catfish to Thai turkey. I had the pulled pork torta. The cabbage relish balances sweet and sour and is a nice contrast to the mustard. Needs more space to sit. I usually have to carry away.

Jeff Holcombe

Very fresh and flavorful. A little pricey but a worthy experience.

Scott Wolfson

Jammed at lunch, but well worth the wait. Simple and excellent food.

Barbara Carter

Went there with scooter rally attendees. My omelet was perfect as was the service.

Steve B

A group of 4 of us went from work and everyone loved their meal. The food here is amazing.

ObeseSmartphone

Really great food, good selection, and nice employees. Only downfall is that our food took a while to come. It was worth it for the quality of the food though!

Glen Williamson

Good service and drink ... with so-so food and rather limited lunch menu.

Andrew Stackhouse

good bartender

Dalton Lebarbenchon

Great food. Very busy during lunch. Take out takes 10-20 minutes. Call ahead! Small tables kind of right next to each other, so be prepared to share a but of space with your neighbor. Having said all that, food is really great, prices already reasonable and staff is friendly!

Dave Kaminsky

Friendly service and tasty food. I like that the menu is seasonal and they try new things, but sometimes those things miss the mark a little bit. Good lunch spot for sure.

Katherine Schill

Just finished an awesome Restaurant Week dinner at Citizen Supper Club. Neat decor, upscale bar-like, lots of room. Deviled eggs with salmon were exceptionally good, walleye croquets tasty. Entree of seared scallops with roasted cauliflower arugula and pine nuts very nice. Dessert of banana bread pudding with bourbon sauce totally yummy -it also had chocolate , what a pleasant surprise. Ordered decalf, too, which was not strong but was very favorable. Service was excellent. We'll be back.

Martin brock

Nick Rogers

The food was OK (not great), but the service, atmosphere, and price left much to be desired. The place was very loud and rowdy, almost like a sports bar that charges $30 for entrees (literally people screaming at the basketball game on TV). Our server was polite but only stopped by about 3 times throughout the entire evening. She brought us our check before my wife was even finished with her entree and we still had wine to enjoy and made it very clear that she needed us to leave after about 45 minutes. Basically you get Applebee's food and service at the price of a fine restaurant. There are many nice establishments in St. Paul that you should consider before Citizen's Supper Club.

Mel Agonafer

Heather Kurth

Steve Doda

Absolutely awesome food! It gets busy, so either show up before 10am or be prepared to wait at least 30 minutes. They serve an all day breakfast menu and mainly sandwich offerings for lunch, all of which are carefully designed, tasty, and well-prepared. Highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros or Disco Eggs any time of day!

Caitlin Higgins

Been here a few times. Service is friendly and the food is tasty. We've had a number of the items on the menu and they are all pretty good. I like the variety too. Some nights we've been there and there has been live music which if always nice. Lastly cocktails are pretty good! I'll definitely be back again.

Carolyn Bough

Walked out without ordering

Mark Vincent

Really great tacos for my wife and I! Had the colliflower and potato salad on the side. Didn't think to ask for hot sauce for the pork taco till I was finished but the table next to me said it was awesomeness. Wanted to have brunch before heading out of town Sunday but sadly, they aren't open Sunday. Next trip will get the brunch options! Thanks again for the great lunch.

Jesse Leacock

Great spot for breakfast or lunch. Interesting interpretations of classic foods.

Joseph Burgin

The disco eggs with masala potatoes with a side of mill grits was one of the best breakfast meals I've had in a long time. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed and the price was unbeatable for such a high caliber meal. Sweet potato hash was also a big hit!

Eric Collins

Great fresh food. Fast service

Angel Cabrera

One of my favorite breakfast places in downtown Richmond. Delicious coffee and great huevos rancheros

Devin K

Love this place! They have lots of gluten free options and my Celiac wife has had great luck with them. They have great martinis and the food is always great. It is a great restaurant in the intercontinental hotel and we go there every time we stay.

Jake Jones

My business called and tried to order a pickup order for 9 people. The lady on the other end said “too many people”. Guess they don’t like money. If your business can’t handle one order for 9 people, your quality probably isn’t great, you’re understaffed, and you shouldn’t offer pickup orders. We won’t be calling them again.

MintySoda

Went here on a date and had a very nice time. Atmosphere was highly relaxing & romantic. Our waitress was extremely welcoming, kind, and informative as well! The food/dessert we were served was out of this world and the prices were fair! I have been to a lot of restaurants here in Downtown and this is one of the best. Check it out!

Trumekia Leonard

Outstanding food and great service. I rarely find a restaurant with this many vegan options. Everything has a unique taste. The cold leftovers were just as good as a sat in traffic on 95.

Ryan Benedict

Food was just okay, mediocre. This was a second visit, about one year apart, and the issue was the same: food isn't salted properly. While some of the items were tasty enough, for the cost I would expect more. Last visit was a prix fixe, and I ordered a prime rib that was served well done. I would just expect more.

Blake Kiser

Excellent service and very good meals. We visit everyone we're in Richmond.

Jessica St. George

Over priced and disappointing.

Mojdeh Azad

Great food, atmosphere, and service! The food tastes amazing

Kim Tjolsen

I had the cedar plank grilled salmon. It was beautifully presented with blackberries, beets & sprouts on a bed of grilled asparagus. It wasn't dry but cooked to perfection. I had creme brulee for dessert & that was also amazing! The service was prompt & courteous. I would definitely come back again & recommend to friends.

Anthony Gulden

Jon Durante

Food and service was great. Unique flavors for breakfast.

Raffaele Notaro

We were visiting Richmond and went for early brunch on a Saturday. Place was hopping. Servers were friendly but service was slow. My small coffee cup stayed empty for at least fifteen minutes. They seemed understaffed. If you're patient though the food was Delicious!

Casi Finstad

We visited for Restaurant Week and are SO impressed with the food and service. In particular, the macaroni and cheese is the best we've ever had. We didn't particularly care for the endive salad, but it's a personal preference-- presentation was great and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and high quality. We will definitely be back!

Lesli Brown

The pupusas are delectable, topped with the most tender pork and fresh radish/jalapeño/cilantro!! Service is quick and friendly, plenty of vegan and vegetarian options.

maryam oraby

They only had pork options

Rahn Kersey and Peaches the Pig

This is a little quiet, quaint place me and my co-workers frequent a lot, love the staff, the cooks, and customer service. If you want to put a good burger down the hatch - this is a go to place.

Meek 434

Can I just say everything I have had off the menu was Great! And they change the menu or always adding something new with is a great thing for foodies...please go you will not be disappointed

Joann Robinson

Delish! Fav is the salad with seared tuna. Huge portion of tuna, fresh greens. Also like the picadillo sandwich although it is a variation of the Cuban picadillo empanadas. A bit of an eclectic menu. During the week, it is super busy at lunch time, so you either get there by 11:30 or wait until 1:30. They close up early as well. Parking is a bit of an issue unless you can find a lot or you try the weekend.

John Miller

Good food for very fair prices. Also only a few beers available, but well selected for all types. Friendly servers.

John Hamilton

Best lunch downtown. Be sure to go early or you will wait. But totally worth the wait.

Tory D

Food here is always delicious. Friendly staff.

Mark Mancil

One of the best lunch spots in Downtown RVA. Try the papusas

Forrest Pritchard

!!!10 STARS!!!! If I could rate this place higher I would! Me and my wife , coming back from Shenandoah , made a spontaneous stop in Richmond for 2 nights on our way back from vacation. We are vegetarians and can never find a good restraunt with descent prices . GREAT FOOD FROM REAL CHEFS . THEY SELL $1 BEER ! I’ve never seen it before . It’s not a bad beer either . In the 48 hours we were there we went 3 times !! That’s how great of a experience we had . Being from Virginia Beach we are really disappointed we can’t eat there often . Great food , great staff , great prices . HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Taylor Davis

Amazing cheese curds from a creamery out in Wisconsin. Also would highly recommend the pork belly. Drinks were average. Server didn't know what came on the pork so we looked it up on their iPad serving menus. Bit disappointed that they weren't able to describe the dish from memory. Will always come back if only for the curds.

Matt Harlow

Great food. Good beer.

Cathy Allen

Service was good. Accommodating staff. The ramen was meh. I shouldn't have gotten it but I wanted soup since I was cold. Side asparagus was tasty and fresh.

Nicholas Thibodeau

Citizen has absolutely delicious food. Just be sure to go early since it gets crowded quickly! Also, on Saturdays only they have a special brunch menu that features amazing french toast. The chai iced coffee is such a good drink too.

Pam Z

Jillian Ollry

Pleasantly surprised with this place. Went for restaurant week and everything was phenomenal!

Beverly Lopez

Have been to cancan many times over a decade, on dates, with family, and with kids. The atmosphere is wonderful and gives a cosmopolitan vibe. Service is consistently great. Almost everything I've had there has been delicious - they pay a lot of attention to seasonal items and the presentations are always beautiful.

Scott & Bambi Kelley

Great food both meat and vegan. Great service. Unique hours... check before you go

Eric Clary

Tried to place a lunch to go order for 9 people ad was told that it was too many to order for. Be advised, if you're ordering for more than one or two people you may want to give them a months notice.

Rameez Chaviwala

Awesome breakfast / brunch. Disco eggs or the egg and cheese torta! Must try in downtown Richmond. Ample seating. Quick service.

KC Brown

Excellent! It's been a favorite of mine, top of my list.

Sarah-Jane Bennett

Great local fare. Diverse menu and lovely atmosphere

Barb Haagenstad

It was a so so experience. They were out of a couple of items on the menu, staff was friendly and knew the menu, almost too eager to recommend items. Just nothing to draw me back.

mark roberson

Fantastic food and service. Their signature cocktails are imaginative and delicious. One of my favorite spots in town!

Sandra E

Mother's Day brunch--for one thing perhaps note that only the brunch menu will be available when taking reservations. Unlimited mimosas is lost on us. Chicken and dumplings had no flavor and soggy soup dumplings rather than crisp like you'd would expect. Then there was the $2.75 coffee when only 2 of us have mimosas--silly. The steaks were also tasteless. The desserts were all soggy--tasteless carrot cake. Then to top it all off we left $25.00 in cash for a tip and then the waitress or someone must have added $30 to our bill for her own tip. We didn't keep the receipt for proof so I can't really fight the charge, but I've never had something like that happen. Will not be going again.

Heather Surine

Horrible food

Mallory

Loved this spot. My key takeaway was comfort food updated. The decor was throwback and felt authentic. The cheese ball (although TINY) had awesome flavor and was served with crudites. The citizen burger was reminiscent of a burger my mom would make with French onion soup mix (I'm not judging!). The velveeta on top added to the comfort food feel. We will be back soon!

Nancy Thomas

Love this place.

Evan

Nike On-Demand Mason

Awesome restaurant ! Very unique menu and chill atmosphere

Molly Hyer

I've been here for breakfast twice and it's fantastic. The breakfast burrito is seriously on point and juevos rancheros are good. The grits are a good texture and the flatbread is tasty. Prices are good for portions. Service has been fine both times.

R Friesen

Mason DePeal

Unique food items but everything was very good. It possesses a quaint atmosphere but maintains a vibrant mood. Plan for $8-12 per person without tip.

Ross Cruikshank

Always delicious, vegan french toast is always a favorite.

Danae B

Great food, quick friendly service. Order the Plantin sandwhich. Incredible flavor will reccomend to anyone who listens

Katie M

Very nice restaurant in the hotel! The food is amazing! The staff is extra attentive and very professional. The decor is very modern and looks great. I would recommend the cheese curds and the Mac & cheese! They do validate parking if you park in the hotel parking lot. We will be back!

Pete Freedman

Absolutely delicious food and up and coming drink menu! Highly recommend the Beets and Goat Cheese dish for vegetarians looking for something other than a friend dish or appetizer for dinner!

Jean Lubke

M Fedoris

Five star food, but seems like they try to wring every penny out of you. Had the breakfast burrito and paid extra for bacon and avocado - avocado was not worth it, but breakfast burrito was absolutely delicious. Asked for cheesy grits and ended up paying a dollar extra for a pinch of shredded cheese on top.

Katie Mesich

The food here was amazing! Priced perfectly and full of flavor! We went for brunch and was not disappointed. My husband and I shared the Cuban Picadillo Torta and the Blueberry Goat Cheese crepes! We will be back!

Jennifer Bissett

Disco eggs are amazing. Also loved the papusa.

sathya moorthy

Nice place! Not too crowded. Yummy food, great customer service. Prices are reasonable.

Casey Land

Wanted to have a nice Saturday night out for some food so we tried a new place and it was a flop. The service was very slow for how few people were there eating. The food was sub par, I could have done much better at home. We will not be returning here anytime soon.

T Carter

Nice atmosphere Good food Great service

Mikel Christianson

Michael Laird

Andrew Slater

My flank steak salad was delicious and so were the cocktails. Service was attentive and the restaurant has a good downtown vibe. I'll definitely be back.

Christine Wing

Service was very slow. Salmon was overcooked.

Jonathan Yates

The food was amazing but the service was really poor. Took 10 minutes before I was even greeted, and then was never checked on again once my order was placed.

J S

Great food and wonderful service. The value is also very high here. My only complaint is that the coffee is not what I would expect from a place that does such a good job in every other aspect of their offerings; fortunately coffee is an easy fix. Overall, I love this place and will come back every time I'm in Richmond. Also, as this is a small area the wait is about 20 minutes on the weekend. Don't let it turn you away, just be aware and plan accordingly.

seth austin

A little too trendy for my taste. Interesting food though.

Keith Jackson

louise bryant

Food and service were amazing. We came here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday and we're blown away by the ambiance and the quality of the food. Can't wait to go back!

MotoSweats

Ordered an old fashion and this is the first place ever mix it right on. Couldn't have been better. Food was excellent, and so was Karen our server. 100% happy

Tim Charles

Sean Grimes

Great local eatery. Wish they had more veg/vegan options but the staff is awesome. Had a breakfast burrito that they "veganized". Not bad music selection playing either. Had a discussion with my server about New Order covers.

David Hogue

Good service and Good food, if you're into vegan meals

David F

The first 5 star I've given. Went here for breakfast today. This place was great you can tell pride goes into the food which what I look for. The flavors all made sense and went well together. To some that may seem petty but food is life and these guys are living the dream.

Megg McGovern

Karen was a wonderful server! The food was good, prices decent and portions adequate. Drinks very expensive.

Carolina Margaria

The food was decent but not great and the service was spotty. Honestly even if the service had been stellar I wouldn't come back. The food won't kill you or disgust you but there is MUCH better food less than a block away in downtown St. Paul. Service: I had to put in an order 3 separate times since the server kept coming back to tell us they were out of what I had ordered. Then even though I had ordered after everyone else my food came significantly before everyone else's. I had ordered a small plate (not an app) and a side and my side didn't come with my meal but came with everyone else's food. Food: I honestly forgot to take pictures of most of it and while it was presented in a fancy or 'foody' formatt the taste just didn't match. In fact I would say that in trying to have an out of the box presentation some of the food was difficult to eat. The fish for example was served in a bowl, so it was difficult to eat with a knife and fork. The steak was overcooked (and late to the table) even though it was ordered medium rare.

Shawn Morton

Great unique vegetarian options! Excellent service. We have visited for daily breakfast & lunch as well as a few weekend dinners and have always enjoyed!

童仪然

went there for restaurant week. The mahi-mahi with orange flavor is adorable!

Ant

Had a bacon, egg,and cheese slider before I hopped a train. Good food, good ambiance, great people. Got some food recommendations from the chef and server. Will definitely be back to try something different

carmen herea

The food is excellent, nicely presented on the plate, and served with care. We really enjoyed it!

Leah MacDaniel

This is my new favorite lunch spot in Richmond! Disclaimer: I'm vegan, so I haven't tried everything on the menu. BUT they have a great selection of dishes that are (or can be made to be) vegan, and they are ALL delicious. Their Plantain and Black Bean Torta is no joke. It's the best sandwich I have ever eaten in my life. ALSO, they just re-upped their menu for summer, and the Zucchini Mint salad that they offer as a side is to die for. It just tastes like summer- crisp, refreshing, tangy... amazing. The staff at Citizen is SO friendly and helpful, and service is quick, no matter how busy they are. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious, interesting lunch for under $10. -Vegan Friendly! -Vegetarian and Gluten-Free options -Sweet staff -Super affordable. -Go there. Now.

John Burns

I don't often write restaurant reviews, but today I felt it was my duty to educate as many people as possible about the Citizen Restaurant's breakfast burrito (served until 11 am). Friends, this isn't the burrito we chose but it is the burrito we need. This is the mother of all burritos, the delicious, the breaker of eggs, king of the andals and the surry sausage, the unburnt (cooked just right), this is the greatest burrito of all time. But behind every great Burrito there is delicious homemade salsa verde capitalizing on the burrito with delicious natural flavors that remind you of home - even though you are from Virginia. If you find yourself in Richmond (between the hours of 7 am - 11 am) feeling lonely, afraid, and hungry - you needn't look any longer for a meal that will lift your spirits and fill your belly. I thank you Citizen Restaurant, may the wind always be at your back and the sun on your face, and may the burritos of destiny carry us aloft to dance with the stars. Goodbye for now.

Ariela Melzer

Aaaaaaaamazing food! Beautifully prepared food and creative pairings make for explosive flavors in your mouth. The chef/owner is a culinary wizard. The atmosphere is cool and comfortable.

Erin Harbinson

Mona B

Love this place for lunch. First time there for breakfast, which was amazing. The curried chickpeas are to die for. Love the fact that not all sides are potato dishes.

Jason Harvey

I had the Disco Eggs w/ Avocado with squash salad as my side and a Thai iced coffee. Everything was so flavorful and cooked to perfection. The local eggs especially were amazing with delicious orange runny yokes. No pretentiousness here to my eyes but dishes that are executed to a level that many other higher priced establishments don't match.

This restaurant is astoundingly good! I'm usually quite reserved about my reviews, but this place is awesome. Just had the best breakfast burrito of my life there. I'm going back everyday I'm in town here. It's that good. The place is small, but it didn't take long to be seated. As I said before, the food was out of this world good. There were excellent vegan options, and a whole bunch of vegan/vegetarian sides that you could add too. The fruit in my fruit salad was perfectly ripe. The staff were friendly and the whole place was spotlessly clean! Super highly recommended!!

Would like to rate this restaurant higher, because the food was really quite good. However, I can't. In fact, I'd rate it lower if the food wasn't so good. The service was horrendous. The wait staff, Captain Indifferent and Queen Looking Bored, rarely attended our table. They forgot items that we requested and despite being a relatively small crowd, service was incredibly slow.

A great ball to duck in for cold brew.

A couple months ago my husband and I went to the Citizen Restaurant for the first time and it was superb. We recently returned for dinner and it was mediocre. The entire menu had changed. The salads were banal, the fries were out of a bag, not prepared on site. The choice of entrees were unimaginative. The restaurant went from WOW! to scowl. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because the restaurant is beautiful and our server was very good. We will not return as we can get good service in a beautiful restaurant at a lot of places. What we wanted was a great meal together with great service. Very disappointing.

Much better than your usual run-of-the-mill hotel restaurant. Recommend the breakfast buffet (when it's offered) especially the bacon which is thick and amazing. Had the fried walleye at dinner which was quite good as well. Also an extensive bar with a decent selection of beers on tap.

Very slow service during lunch (Tuesday, 12:30). Menu is unique and interesting but the food was average (in the sense that after sampling two lunch dishes and sides I don't have a desire to come back and try anything else.) Love the art on the walls. Relatively quiet and relaxing environment.

Cute little spot for comfort food. Service e was quick. Decor is sparce but it adds to the charm. Ham and pickle rolls were yummy! Pimento dip was bomb.

This hidden gem is amazing. People use that word a lot but this is the definition of the word. From best cheese curds, breakfast and end the night with some fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. I thank you for what I would call a food experience in our favorite luxury hotel in Minnesota.

Earl Kellner

Great lobby bar with an excellent selection of scotch. My wife and I enjoyed sime after dinner drinks at Citizen and we really enjoyed the bar tender and her stories about travel. First class service and drink selection.

Food was great! thats the only reason i am giving 2 stars. Worst service ever. Waiter can't seat us at 11:30 am when 1 out of 4 in our party hasn't arrived yet. After telling that person is on the way he agreed to seat us. There was no crowd for another 15-20 minutes. Waiter had to rush with us for everything,. taking away plate when one was still eating, after looking at him, he asked are you still working on it. I can't go to a place even if food is good but service is so poor. Treat the customers well if you want business.

Nice lunch spot ...sorta tight seating but good fresh food

They didn't manage their reservations correctly for Dec 25. Had no room for us and our 7pm reservation. We checked in at 6:51pm and cancelled at 7:15 after not receiving an update, or even a glass of water (hint to management: offer a drink or at least a menu!). When we asked for an update, the host told us there wasn't a table for available us, and the frenzied, unprofessional, bush-league 'host' offered no apology or sympathy.

As a new airline pilot I like to explore my surroundings. This is one of those gems you hope to find along the way. Healthy eclectic delicious food, efficient friendly service, clean comfortable unassuming atmosphere, and reasonable pricing. Must visit.

This place is *really* good. It can be a little slow sometimes, but it's totally worth it. Get the breakfast burrito.

Loved our lunch today!!! The food was very good. I had the Roast Beef Slider. It was huge pieces of beef; with a tasty sauce and delicious pickles and onions in the slider. When I think slider, I think small, this was not small. The prices were all fair as well. I also ordered their Caesar's Salad with salmon...that was delicious too...had to take half of each home. My husband and son loved their burgers also. This is a place I will definitely try again. Sunday is good, free parking. However, Cathy, our nice server, said they will give you a voucher if you park in the ramp. All was for a terrific lunch!

Thomas Krajewski

This is a good breakfast spot, would recommend. The service is prompt and the breakfast burrito was delicious

Cocktails made with pre-made ice tells you all you must know. Prices on drinks are reasonable as a result

Visiting from out of town with my particular wife and 2 picky eater kids. Everyone was happy! It's quite literally a miracle! Unbelievable breakfast burrito!

Joshua Heslinga

Great, interesting, quality food for breakfast or lunch. Seriously, one of my favorite food places in Richmond. Does get crowded at peak lunch times.

Best burger I've head in years: The Red Head.

Went for Restaurant Week as my wife and I had never been and the menu sounded good. We weren't really sure what to expect when we got there as it is attached to a hotel but we were pleasantly surprised. The server was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. We each had an appetizer and dessert. For our main course, I had a salmon dish that came with a very generous portion of grilled salmon. My wife had the scallops and was very satisfied. The beer list was nothing notable but they had a good variety. We didn't order cocktails, but they had a page of unique cocktails on the drink menu. We went for dinner but it looks like they have some good lunch and happy hour options as well.

I didn't know what to expect walking into Citizen and was very pleasantly surprised. The food is fresh and beyond amazing the omelettes are EVERYTHING and that tomatillo salsa is to die for. The staff is super nice and very knowledgeable about not only the menu but also the area if you're not a local. (I am from RVA but I overheard a conversation from another table while eating.) The atmosphere in Citizen is very cozy and the decor is interesting to say the least; the photos change every so often promoting different local artists. All in all, if you're in the area, definitely hit up Citizen for some amazing food and an amazing experience.

Open kitchen style cozy local restaurant which serves fresh cooked food Custom made to the order. Loved it being open kitchen whole place is filled with lots of aroma nd smoke. Quite busy be prepared to wait for 15-30 mins. I have got a ham nd cheese omelette which was really fulffy nd yummy. Flavorfull “Disco Eggs. Really close to capitol building.

Very nice decor. I didn't eat here, but the drinks were way over priced and the bartenders weren't very knowledgeable. They were... geriatric. It was kind of weird to have such old bartenders and servers. I wouldn't really mind but they seemed very frazzled on a pretty slow night and they could use some additional training. It stood out as strange because there really didn't seem to be any staff under 60.

Very disappointed that they were not able to handle our lunch order. "too many people" is not an appropriate response to trying to order and pick up food.

Tires place is great! They have happy hour twice! Every day! Also, their cheeseburger has become my new favorite.

Citizen felt like a perfectly good 3 out of 5. It didn’t wow us, but neither did we hate it. It was decidedly “meh”. Our server was wearing a pair of crocs with mismatched socks which one appeared to have a hole in them. It was wait to be seated, but the person at the bar pointed to a table rather than seating us. Felt like the food took a little long to come out. I ordered a pork sandwich. My dining companion ordered a chicken po’ boy. The food what just sort of bland. It didn’t have any unique flavors to it. Both of the buns of our sandwiches fell apart. The fruit cup was wilted, and the celery root slaw tasted like soggy celery root and not much else, it wasn’t at all crisp and the dressing it was tossed in had no particular flavor. All in all, the ingredients were ok but the meal was bland and underwhelming.

Fantastic local dining. Expertly cooked salmon and to die for appetizers. Great selection of craft beers and wines.

John Tragesser

You're going to pay a couple of bucks more for each meal than you would at the average lunch spots in Richmond. Worth EVERY penny. These are crafted dishes with seasonal surprises. There are plenty of vegetarian choices if that's your thing. The pork soft tacos are outstanding. I also enjoyed the Cuban Picadillo Torta. The sides are unusual and tasty. Jerk Collards will light you up.

Calvin Jilek

We were looking for a nice place for a Saturday brunch and this fit the bill perfectly. There are options for both the breakfast and lunch side of brunch so there is something for everyone. The Vietnamese Iced Coffee was delicious and was dripped at the table. I ordered a pulled pork pressed sandwich (the name escapes me) with the soup of the day. The sandwich wasn't greasy and was quite delicious. My wife ordered huevos rancheros which was also good and cooked well. There wasn't a wait for us and the atmosphere was light and not loud. The staff was VERY friendly. I'm coming back when I return to Richmond!

Katie Blissard

Had the pulled pork sandwich and the relish was so bomb!

Congetta Kelley

Limited, altered with the seasons, Citizens menu offers intensly flavored meat to vegan dishes to satisfy everyone. We go often not only for the great food and service (the wait staff is awesome and friendly) ... I love to see what the chef offers as the "pickled" side. Last week there were 5 beautifully pickled peanuts in their shells. The soft shells revealed 2 velvety peanuts that burst with unexpected flavors from the pickling process. I have say that I love the simplness of Citizens and how their menu always surprises you with delicious morsels of complexity.

Mathew Taylor

Buen lugar para almorzar, muy tranquilo y una muy buena atención. De 3 a 6 tienen Happy Hour.

Daren Denker

Food was good - a bit overpriced and limited though.

Alex Quick

Gross burgers with cold, hard bacon strips. The wings were flavorful but dry as a bone. Service was ok.

Howard Chaney

This place is good for snack in your way to the work, school or even home there is less wait time because the crew move fast...

Andrew

Unassuming and also pleasantly surprising. We found ourselves ordering one plate after another. The flavors were fresh and unique combinations of ingredients. Drinks were crafted and the atmosphere was classy but not pretentious. In terms of hotel bars/restaurants, Citizen nailed it...with which money left over to partake in other activities.

John Burton

Fantastic food and fast service!

Anne Margaret White

Fun place for lunch. The food is as delicious as it is unique. Very professional wait staff. The communal tables can be a bit tight, so save your highly personal conversations for another venue. It probably wont matter because you'll be too busy stuffing food in your face to talk anyway!

Todd Petersen

Great food. Lovely dining setting and black label beer for $1 is unbeatable. I love this place and always happy trying something new

Gus Humphrey

Really good every time I've been, they have the added benefit of an all day brunch menu, which who can complain about that?
