The bartenders practice is to taste drinks before giving them to customers by using a straw to draw up some of the liquid, taste it then throw the straw away. I wasn’t feeling that at all. I talked to a manager and he was aware of the practice and authorizes it to prevent customers from complaining about the taste of drinks. I offered a solution of poring a small amount into another glass but he didn’t seem interested in changing this practice. I won’t be returning to this restaurant because who can guarantee none of their spit ends up in what is given to customers. No thanks.

Great food, but a little loud for my taste. It wouldn't have been so bad but I was with a larger group, and I couldn't hear the people across the table from me a lot of the time. However, there was one plus to the noise: my one year old niece was with us, and she likes to scream and yell for no reason (as toddlers do), but because it was so loud in there, we couldn't really even hear her!

Been coming to red coat for years and years. Absolutely best hamburgers around Michigan and also a huge fan of the filet and garlic mashed potatoes. Make sure you get the secret sauce with the hamburgers.

One of the best burger places in Farmington. Things to avoid though: plain mac and cheese or any fish entree or obviously no chicken sandwich. If you're here get their burgers and enjoy the craft beer selection. Haven't tried cocktails.

This place is known to have some really good burgers, but I’d have to say they’re pretty overrated. Don’t get me wrong they’re pretty good, but nothing special really. There are a lot of places that make much better burgers. Besides that everything else is really good. Great service and great atmosphere.

We were originally seated in the restaurant. It was extremely loud. We asked to move to a table in the bar. It was much quieter. My friend and I had a glass of wine and salads. The house Cabernet was good as was the salad we split. The service was great. I would recommend the Red Cost Tavern!

Excellent service and great recommendations from our waitress! We got the beef tips as an appetizer. It’s one of my favorites now. So delicious. I got the Cuban sandwich last time and it wasn’t my favorite but the pot pie is very good and pretty unique! Definitely will keep going back.

I love a good burger and had heard good things about RC tavern. The burger was really big, and the choices of toppings to put on it(complimentary)were great! That being said, I've had better favored burgers at many other local places... Perhaps the cook just forgot to put seasoning on it, but it definitely lacked any flavor! I was very disappointed. I'd rather have the flavor in the burger rather than the toppings . I will say it was a very busy place, so I assume the food must be good. However, personally I won't recommend the burger-at least not the regular one. Maybe the Piedmontese burger is better I'll stick with my Miller's cheeseburger and onion rings; much better flavor, and less expensive.

A terrific beer list. Average Fries. A reasonably priced burger. Their classic burger was delivered, as ordered, medium rare. The burger itself was surprisingly tasteless. Additionally, it only had few thin strands of lettuce and did not have the ordered raw onion. When the onion finally caught up with the burger, the burger was cold. So, it was returned. They offered to make a replacement, but my companion was almost finished, so I declined. I will not return.

Go for the atmosphere, but don't stick around for the food. It's a great bar, super busy the night we went standing room only. I ordered carry out, two burgers, a side of fries, and wings. The burger was somewhat flavorless, the wings were not crispy, and the fries looked and tasted like they had been under a heat lamp for a while. To equate, it was a glorified Burger King meal, so save your money on the food and go to burger king and save yourself some money.

What an amazing burger place! I have been here a few times for lunch. The staff is great. The burgers are amazing and give you some good options for adding additional ingredients, like bacon, fried eggs, different cheeses, etc. The onion rings are huge and delicious. I highly recommend the burgers here I have never been less than stuffed when leaving.

Food was great per usual. This was my first time to this location and I loved it. Met up with family to celebrate my birthday. Erin, our waitress, was phenomenal! She made sure everyone was well taken care of. Most of us had clam or seafood chowder and burgers. A few had the fish. This location is roomier than then Woodward location but I love both. The food did not waiver between the two. Tried the bread pudding as well. It is ok. Not what I was expecting but not bad. I'll be back for sure!

Fantastic! I had heard about this place having delicious burgers, and they were not wrong. Amazing burger cooked perfectly with the sweet potato fries that were also exceedingly tasty. Our Waiter Jason was on fire, he did an exceptional job and was very helpful with every question we had. We ended out night with bread pudding and Pot du Creme (Super Chocolate Pudding). That Bread pudding was phenomenal!! And that du Creme was pulchritude of Chocolate.

Awesome burger! Out waitress was great too. She approached our table just enough and was pleasant and efficient. Different atmosphere than the Royal Oak restaurant - it's a lot more comfortable cozy. Everything worked in the bathroom and it was seemingly clean throughout the entire restaurant.

Food was good and service was good. Got there right as they opened for an early lunch and it was extremely quiet. Sat in the outdoor section and it was nice to be outside. Had a cup of the NE Clam chowder and liked it a lot. Ordered the "Brasserie Burger" and it was great. Pretty messy but the flavor was good and had a good balance. Reasonable price as well at $12 for their best burger. Regular red coat was just under 10 I think. Would come again to try other things on the menu. Everything looked good and was in a really nice part of town. Nothing over the top to make it 5 stars but a good burger at a good price.

If you don't know it's there, you may miss it - their sign blew away in a recent storm. The staff are welcoming, the food is fantastic (best hamburger ever!) & it has a very laid-back, relaxed atmosphere. My sister & I went for a Saturday afternoon lunch & even bonded with the patrons sitting next to us, who excitedly told us about their new puppy

Absolutely love red coat, if you go there try the red coat burger (it is phenominal) along with their fries. Which I must say is the better version of McDonalds fries. Which seems impossible but it is the truth! Great service, food comes at a fast pace. The BEST place to get burgers in Oakland County. Bring your appetite!!!

Their signature burger is amazing. The fries and onion rings are also excellent (not sure which I like better they're both so good). I also tried the Scotch Eggs which were perfectly cooked. My only complaint is the parking lot was completely full and I had to park at the business next door.

The hotel that I was staying at recommended the Red Coat Tavern even though they had a restaurant. Fun place, good menu options. I had the Brassarie Burger, one they are known for. It did not disappoint! Delish. If you are seeking a good burger in the area I have to suggest this place. Staff was very friendly and attentive. If I had to make one criticism, it's not a quiet place, it's rather loud. But it's a fun atmosphere regardless.

Waited 15-20 minutes for table in the entry space that was not meant for so many bodies. Restaurant was noisy. Hall to restroom and women's restroom was dirty (napkins and paper towels on the floor). Well,. Normally I give this place 5 stars but this time was different. So, my wife and I ordered the burgers, of course, but this time, the meat was not seasoned at all. I mean,. No salt, no pepper. It was cooked properly, but so bland, I didn't even finish it.

This is the place if you want to have a great burger, just the way you want it. All types of options are available, regarding toppings, even ones you've never thought of before. Literally the only place around that is open late, we're talking 1:40 a.m., something impossible to find in the surrounding area. Great rest of the menu, but the Hamburger stands above all else. Little secret: though not on the menu, you can order sweet potato French Fries. Be sure to add a pinch of salt, changes how they taste. Experiment yourself.

Our hotel suggested this place when we were visiting Detroit. The waiter was friendly and suggested good items to try off the menu since this was our first time. My wife had their famous hamburger (without any modifications) and I had the Lake Perch which the waiter had suggested. Both tasted amazing! The burger was the best we ever had. I could just have the bun without the patty - it was so soft and juicy. The lake perch was a surprise to me as well. Definitely going back for that burger though.

Onion rings were amazing, food was good but a I thought it was a bit pricey for the environment and service compared to other options available. Server was very distant; he didn't make any mistakes to our orders but just was not very friendly and rubbed me totally wrong. Atmosphere... Crazy claustrophobic for me. Tables are way too close together for my liking and the music was so loud that I had to scream for my brother to hear me from across the table.

I usually go to the one in royal oak and been going to that one for over 10yr no issues. We stop by this one by orchard lake rd on Tuesday night a little after 10:30pm. The place was not busy. But the hostess was busy looking at her phone looks like. She took a minute to look up. She then seated us. We sat for some time no one came to our table. Finally a waiter ask if we been help we said “no” he walked off without saying if he can take our order. Then few minutes pass we see the waiter and ask him if he can check who is our sever. The waiter walked over to the hostess and then towards the back. We wait patiently finally we meet our waitress who took our order. The food came fast after the order and tested fine. Will not come back feel like bad management with out care for their customers.

Great service that was QUICK! We went on a Saturday and while it was busy, once seated, out server was on it. He knew the menu and had appropriate suggestions. It's not a large place (but larger than the Woodward location) so expect a little wait time if you go on the weekend.

Almost missed it! The signage is hard to see at night. We drove right by the first time. If you have ever been to the Red Coat Tavern on Woodward you will know the menu, as it was the same at this location. The decor/atmosphere is very different. More upscale. I came from the movies in a hoodie and jeans and felt a lil underdressed. Overall thumbs up. Excellent drink and beer options. Great service. The burger you know and love.
