As you know, we don't usually bother to write reviews when they are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Restaurant belongs to the category of Indian restaurant.
Ordered chicken tikka masala for pickup. It was delicious! However, the portion was too small for the price I paid. Maybe I’ll try dining in to see if you get more food.
The staff are very rude. They force you to give tip in spite of not being polite/welcoming and providing you bad service. You need to wait for forever for your order and have to ask for each and every thing that they should themselves do ex- filling emptied water glass etc.
Not good because I don't see authentic Indian food style. But I guess this food can be enjoyed by no. Indians because it is less spicy there. Indians who enjoy the spicy food for them this is not a pace
Fantastic food—best nan I've had.
Great food. Service isnt the greatest but the staff is nice.
Waiting time is too long, they don’t care the carry out customer or delivery guys , server have some attitude
Mediocre at best. Malai Kofta was not at all good!
Very good food and service !!!!! Best mango soft ice cream ever .....
The inside of the samosa was cold. It felt like boxed frozen samosa. Okra had tons of oil. Heavy cream on many dishes. Oil, cream, and salty. If you like that then you should come here.
This place has been my go to for Friday Evening lamb biryani the past 3 years. So there is a sentimental value to my 3 star rating. The afternoon buffet food leaves a lot to be desired. Even the ala carte. Presumably from resources devoted to the buffet. The food in the evenings is pretty good in my experience.
Wonderful food! Staff a little distant. The place is rarely super busy so quick in and out even on a friday afternoon. Full BAR
I have been here before a few years ago and did not remember it to be so bad. Today I ordered the Priya Special Biryani, it was by far the worst biryani I ever had, in fact I would not call it a biryani, seemed like some very amateur cook. That is about the food. The place has a good ambiance and the waiter was pretty good as well, it is just that the food was pathetic
Avg food quality
Good service and food
Not very good. Don't know if it's what we ordered or what. Place was crowded so I assume others like it.
Partially raw chicken for second time...what's up with that
Awful, nasty & disgusting foods. I bought a meal and it wasn't cooked well, took couple bites , was watery and tasted weird . called them back to complain, they lady said nothing is wrong with the food and the cook said it was done the way it suppose to.!! So i took few more bites then ended throwing up and got sick...! It was Chicken Beryani meal, i always buy that from Indian restaurants. But this meal was horrible and doesn't taste like Beryani at all.!! Don't go there.!
Tried the priya special biryani, taste was good but I can't call it as a authentic biryani though.
Rava Masala Dosa I tried as really good!
We eat here all the time. Great curries. I always go for the lamb kadai
Priya is a fine down restaurant and you will get true Indian delicacies when in Troy one should try going to this place
What I liked : 1. Clean and decent ambience 2. Waiters had a smile 3. Mirchi bajji was served hot and was delicious, not the best I have had though 4. Tech savvy menu 5. Good quality food They have bar as well What I didn't like : 1. Expensive 2. Toilets were not really clean 3. Chettinad chicken didn't taste great. 4. Quantity was less
Bomb simosa's
Wait staff is excellent as always. Appetizers are the cornerstone of this restaurant. If you want the best Chicken Tikka Masala, look no further. Priya is our first choice for Indian food around Metro Detroit area!
The food is delicious!! Awesome lunch buffet. Nice spot to get away to during a busy work day.
Good south Indian food available. Taste good
Worst place....Ordered only Dal and asked to make spicy, they put so much chili that couldn’t eat it. They don’t understand difference between Hot & Spicy.
Food was subpar, and we left unsatisfied.
Delicious Indian food. I'll definitely go back.
I placed order for Thali and reciept on the food says thali! But the items were missing and when I call to inform them they don't even accept their fault. Should do better job of tracking what food you put in the to go bags.
Nothing good nor bad about this place!
Excellent food. Great service. Bring back the lunch buffet.
Ordered Chicken Biryani and pepper chicken fry. Both were good and I requested them to add extra spicy. I really enjoyed my food here.
Good food and occasional slip of quality exposure expected with change in chefs on certain days.
The food is so good. It really hits the spot. I only ever order take out. I wish they offered half orders so I could try more dishes. But at the prices I just order the same thing every time cause I know I love it. Either way Priya is definitely my favorite place for Indian in the area.
The buttered chicken tasted weird. The ice cream was amazing. Mango flavored is awesome. The problem is that they only have beer and wine, no pop or anything.
I have gone to Praia for years the food is delicious. For the first time I had an upsetting experience. I placed a to go order and a part of my order was missing I did not recognize it until I got home. I called and let the person that took my order I was missing part of it and he proceeded to tell me he packed it himself and I was wrong. I explained to him I was looking in the bag now and it was missing. He continued to argue with to the point I asked if he was calling me a liar. Only then did he tell me he would make a new one for me. I was so offended. They have just lost a long time customer.
Formerly 5 star, ending lunch buffet was not good, I understand it's back now, so I stopped by today at 11:40 when they are supposed to open and they were closed, called and knocked no answers. I drove well out of my way to meet friends here for lunch and had to go elsewhere. Bad business and I expect they will soon be permanently closed operating on this fashion
Awesome quality and superb service. The best in town, a must try!
Good buffet place. Have to read outside posters carefully before entering in. Prices might be misleading
Ordered Lamb Curry with rice and 2 orders of naan, very good spice and flavor. Really enjoyed what I got. I should have checked my bag in the car, because I got home and no rice.. bummer. Price is high for portion sizes.
Visited restaurant on a weekday for lunch. The presentation of the food and amount was fantastic. However, the food was cold and lacked its normal spices. This is one of my favorite places to dine. If you should desire to try this restaurant, I suggest that you go on weekends when they have a buffet. You won't be disappointed.
Had the lunch buffet, food was good but nothing too exciting. Flavourful and moderately priced. The mango ice cream is a must have.
Try the Mango chicken or Priya Special Biryani! I don't like sweet sauces, so I was pretty Leary about trying the mango chicken, but it's like butter chicken on steroids. It's unbelievably delish. I'm also a big fan of the masala dosa for lunch. Great food, great waitstaff. Been coming here for 20 years!
Incredibly good
The Worst experience ever!! We were visiting family from Toronto, Canada and stumbled upon this restaurant. The service is very bad and the staff were really rude. The food took a lot of time to arrive. The thing I want to mention most is that the staff were talking behind our back about a reasonable question we asked and we were still in the restaurant!! This is highly un-professional.
Was my first time to try an indian cuisine and it was good. But im giving 5 stars primarily because of the super friendly customer service of the owner. Caution on choosing spicy level. Medium is already very hot. The lunch platter is good for beginners but if there's an option to replace butter chicken, I would as it's too creamy. Rice pudding dessert was also good.
Great Indian food. Best we've had in this area.
My family and I love this place! The food is always good and the staff are always nice!
A decent place....tastes okay...biryani goes nice only with salan
I love their food, but they need to get classes on customer service. Why do you need to make your customer on hold for almost 10 mins. On the phone and didn’t even say a simple sorry!
This place takes very very long to make the food. Even for carry out they take forever and food isn’t the greatest it’s ok. I have had better. I wouldn’t waste my time trying them again
I have been going to Priya for over 20 years. It is by far the best Indian food in Metro Detroit outside of the home made Indian cooking that I was raised on. Nowhere else even compares and on the days I don't feel like cooking, Priya is my go to.
Not as good as it used to be. The service is mediocre. The food is simply don’t taste good anymore. Especially the biryanis. Me and my friend had the special chicken biryani the other day and it was so bad!
The butter chicken is so delicious.
Used to come here regularly in the past but moved out of the area. Came to take my son and it's closed. No one's answering the phone. The mailbox is full. It's 1:05. It should be a full swing buffet in there but all the lights are off. A real disappointment.
Food not so good.
Not the taste of Indian food. Poor services
Food is always consistently good. Nice clean restaurant. I like menu on a tablet as it's nice the see what you are ordering. Good service too.
Priya used to be my go-to stop for lunch, but they no longer offer the lunch buffet during the week, it's on weekends only now. Entrees are very good, I've never had bad food here. But table service can be slow and is becoming more and more inconsistent. Worth trying, but Priya is not what they used to be, and the big draw is still that lunch buffet -- all the delicious entrees without the haphazard service.
Not a great place for Indian treat. Was expecting at least the South Indian food would be good but regretted it. Lamb curry didn't have any taste nor did chicken Manchuria. Thali experience was like the worst ever.
My food was spicy. Good service.
Interesting waiters. The food tasted amazing. However, the time it took to cook was longer than need be. It was worth it though. Best Indian food I have ever tasted. The music in the background and the dimmed lights set a great atmosphere. Also, the menus are ipads, so that is great.
Good LOOKING biryanis. Everything tastes below average.
This Place is INCREDIBLE. I had the Gobi Manchurian as an appetizer and I seriously thought I had died and gone to heaven. My boyfriend is lucky I shared any of it with him! ATTN: all vegetarian and vegans! They have a wide selection of dishes to fit your plant-based lifestyle and can make so many of the dishes on the menu with coconut milk instead of dairy. The vegetable Korma with Coconut milk and naan bread is too legit to quit. C'est vraiment délicieux! The waitstaff was super fast and friendly and so very helpful. I would marry this food !
Food is good & the lunch buffet is great. Service is good as well, but 1 thing I would like to say to the owner - your restaurant's waiter Arun is a bit mannerless. 06/27/2019 Thursday I was paying my bill at the restaurant's cash register, he was actually taking the bill. When he found out that I didn't tip him he asked me that why didn't I tip him ?. Mr Owner no waiter can't talk like that to a customer no way. A waiter can ask a customer for a tip, but he can't ask a customer why didn't you tip me ? If you read this review please do take some actions Mr Owner. At least teach your employees how to behave & how to talk with customers. Do give them some manner training.
Such a treat. The buffet rocks if that's your thing. My favorite dish is the lamb vindaloo (spicy!) and make sure to get it Thali style and sample the delicious flavors and variety they offer. The samosas are action packed (both veg and lamb). If you're up for dessert the mango soft serve is divine. They have a full bar with several Indian beer options. Kingfisher or Flying Horse are my jam.
Food is delicious and owners are very friendly. Special biryani is my favorite.
The food was good the service was good as well
Amazing food for an amazing price. Easily the best Indian restaurant around.
Bad business order take out takes ever ever tried several times never again!
Always came here for dinner. They never disappointed. Highly recommend chicken sangrila, spl chicken biryani and cut mirchi. They have tasty naan. A bit on the expensive side for an Indian restaurant. My go to place for indian food, whenever I am in Troy.
Best Indian restaurant in the area. Food was excellent specially south Indian food was really good. Great service!
We had lunch buffet at this restaurant and the food was not that great. There was a lady working over there and she was arrogant when I asked for cups to replenish food over my plate. The worst part is they charged us 18.95$ (added gratuity of 4$ on top of the original price) for lunch buffet on friday afternoon which is quite high for the quality of food they provided.
I had three entrees and onion naan. Everything was great. Butter chicken is good but the matter paneer was unbelievable. Can't wait to go back but I will probably be getting carry out soon!
This has been my go to Indian restaurant for years. I have introduced so many people to this place including my husband who loves to go at the buffet lunch. I highly recommend the buffet because you get a wide selection of food. But order the onion naan bread because it taste a lot better than the plain naan. If you are looking for something a bit spicy then order from the regular menu. What i love is the soft serve ice cream you get after the buffet, perfect size to suit your sweet tooth.
Very good Indian food. The service was excellent and if you miss the Indian atmosphere, go to Priya. They have a bar attached too!!
Usual it's a good place, but I think the cook was off tonight. I have had better meals at this place on other occasions. All in all it's good but I have had better
Food was excellent, service was excellent. Was overwhelmed by having multiple servers come to table and ask same questions. But overall an awesome dining experience.
Must try place. This is my fix when craving Indian. Need to go more often!
Good Indian food! Usually busy with carry-outs
They have a decent buffet. Food is not too bad. Just not my first choice.
Food good... Service terrible.
Gave 4 stars for the food. ..everything deserves 0 or 1 star..the service want that great, they need to clean up the place.
One of the best restaurant for authentic Indian food. The food tastes real good and spicy. When you ask for spicy they serve it real spicy.
This has to be the WORST restaurant I have been to !!!!!!!!! I had chicken biriyani and it was NOT edible! The chicken was underneath the rice covered with red goopy nasty red sauce . The chicken had a slimy taste to it, so I did not eat it!I tried eating some of the rice with that sauce..Bad move!!I had major tummy issues the whole night. :( There were hardly any people there. I wish I would have read these reviews before I wasted my time and my stomach. Just disgusted!!
Tried this place more than once....disappointed everytime. The curry is kind of thin, missing body, and lacking flavor. Chicken Makhani/Butter Chicken is super tomatoey and not much else. Asked for hot, it tasted sweet? This is not the first time the curry tasted sweetened... like sugary. The chicken was cooked well, not dry, but the sauce let me down. Lamb Korma is gritty and flavorless. Lamb itself was tough. Value for money is rather low. Overall, I won't be going back. There are other close options that are so much better.
Had a great dinner. Taste was good. Paneer kadhayi, Garlic nan woow...yummm yumm
I have no choice that’s why I am giving 1 star ⭐️, but this was the worst food
Good food but can be pricey
Went to Sunday buffet at 2:30 and most entrees were empty even though the buffet is open until 3:30. The staff didn't seem very keen on refilling the food either. There were no plates and cups at the buffet table (seemed very disorganized). Our server was very prompt to add 20% gratuity to our final bill since we had 6 people in our table, even though this policy is not advertised anywhere in the restaurant and we had to flag the staff many times to clear our plates (and gratuity for buffet seems very unreasonable for such a place). Food was mediocre at best, we won't return to this place.
Well suprised how did they even end up with a average rating. Hopeless food, honestly frozen food you get in indian stores tastes much better. Do not waste your time and money at this place.
I used to love this place, but today's visit was disappointing. They charged the full adult buffet price for my 2 and 4 year old, who only ate a few pieces of naan. On prior visits they had both always been free so I didn't bother asking today and was shocked. The soft serve machine was broken, and there was no discount or substitute to make up for it. This is normally my kids' favorite part of eating there, so a lassi or something to make up for the missing ice cream would have been nice. The waitress was very inattentive. There were very few people there and it's a buffet so I don't know the reason, but we had to wave her down for water (which wasn't cold) and she never offered us other drinks or a menu, which other waitstaff there have always done. When we asked to pay she said she'd bring a check and never did, so we eventually went to the front to pay. The food is decent, but certainly not worth paying a full adult buffet price for 2 toddlers- ESPECIALLY when they can't get the soft serve.
Staff was friendly but chicken curry was just average. I ordered it medium which most places it has some heat to it but there was zero heat. I mean zero! I was also very surprised that the order came with no rice. I have never had Indian where rice was extra. My recommendation is go for buffet if that is your thing but look elsewhere the rest of the time.
Ala carte food items are really good, especially special chicken biryani is one of the best amongst biryanis served at any restaurant in Michigan. On the other hand, buffet is not encouraging but if ala carte items are good thats more than sufficient to visit this place.
Best Indian cuisine in town
Fast takeout in person, but was on hold on the phone for a long time
Everything took WAY too long. 15 minutes before taking our drink order. And staff couldn't be bothered to try harder or care more.
Called twice today , nobody answered , figured they were busy, drove there on the rain from a training session to try it out - was closed !!! Obviously I was not happy !!
Biryani and chicken dishes are very good
I ordered food today 10.30.18. Chicken boti was not cooked properly I could see soaked marination topping and rest of it was overcooked and burnt. Kabab and chicken tikka piece was burnt so I have to throw them... :(
very nice food to dine in .. would prefer
Priya is the place to go for authentic Indian food. They have a very high quality buffet so you can get a taste of everything!
Everyone was friendly, accommodating and the food was excellent.
They served stale food in the buffet
used to love this place. its slipping. overall getting very dirty and the restrooms are awful. wait staff is hit or miss. food is still pretty good. I don't understand why anyone would build a business and let it go to hell like this.
Good Aloo paratha and yummy butter chicken
I love this place. Above average, fairly inexpensive buffet available 7 days a week.
Delicious! Cheerful waitress, good music that was at a low volume. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful
Awesome food. Courteous and good ambience
Must try the Chicken Boneless Biriyani. Undoubtedly the best taste in the metro Detroit area. Also the Pepper Chicken Dry and 555 Lemon Chicken are delicious. The buffet wasn't that great even though they have a wide selection.
The food was pretty great. The waitress wasn't the easiest to understand, but we managed. We were offered a lunch special or a menu if we wanted the actual menu options. We tried understanding what was in the lunch special, and we got the answer "chicken and buttered chicken and.." you get the point. To be honest, it was a lot of different delicious chicken dishes. What I think was Tikka Marsala, a nice buttered chicken, naan (It is a bread similar to pita bread), and a green bean dish. Overall, it was all extremely delicious and worth the money!
If you're ordering for pick up, there will be a long delay. Customers dining in get food earlier than the pick up orders.
My wife and I have been coming to Priya for years. We've tried several local Indian restaurants to compare, but Priya is our favorite. Although the lunch buffet is good too, we prefer to come for dinner and order from the menu. It's astonishing, really, how much more fresh, flavorful, and delicious we find our dinners at Priya than the same dishes ordered from other restaurants.
Authentic Indian cuisine. The decor and staff are genuine. We have been going there ocassionally for 20 years.
Amazing Indian buffet.
If you love Indian food, this is the place to go! It has vegetarian and meat options for all
Waste of time and money
Worst customer service ever. Took at least 5 min to get silverware and water. Another 20 min to get menus from the waitress. Another 10 before ordering. Meanwhile my toddler is getting very hungry. By the time food arrives (30-45 min later after ordering!!), the poor toddler is starving and they only brought half her food out. All the tables around me were commenting on how long it was taking to get their bill to even pay. Several people just had to get food to go because it was taking so long. Another table left without ordering because they hadn't even gotten water after 10 min. Never going here again.
Ordered takeout. Got the lamb biryani, samosas, and chicken mango curry. Pretty good.
Worst food ever and no items in buffet Better to avoid if u don't want to get disappointed
really good food
Clean place with normal service, only saw 2 people working, lucky not a busy night. Lamb curry with white rice and naan was very good. Chicken Mango curry and naan was good but the chicken tasted more like fish. Lemon rice was very bad will never ordered that again.
Lot of options available for indian food and deserts.Ambience inside restaurant is good.Service could be better.
Chicken Tikka Masala was tasteless. They didn't have tea, and then the coffee they served was cold. But the staff was nice. It didn't take too long this time to get the food. The menu is a tablet, which is cool I guess.
Priya Restaurant is superb. They specialize in Indian Cuisine. Lots of Vegetarian or Vegan choices. Very comfortable atmosphere, and high-tech at the same time. Their menus are touch pads! Sweet! The service is so good. We will be making Priya Restaurant a regular on our dining out choices for certain!
Went back after 4 years ( use to dine-in here at least once a week , but stopped after they changed chef), and still didn't liked it. Tried biryani - rice was soaked in oil and chicken was bad in taste. Not going back.
I recommend to others without any reservation.
Good food. Friendly staff. Chicken Biryani could be improvised.
Ordered via Grubhub and the food was pretty good. The portions were a bit small tho. For $15 a plate I expected more food. What really upset me was $2.00 for a Coke and they sent it in the smallest styrofoam cups!!! Not even a can?!??? For $2.00??!!! I had no problem spending $50 on a carryout, but that $2.00 Coke is a joke!
Great food, very good service. Selection a little small, but very quality.
By far the best Indian food I have ever had
The Sunday buffet is a family favorite on Sundays after church services. Lots of choices with a variety spiciness. Great naan and butter chicken.
Ordered a pick-up order. Food was delicious and good quality. Will for sure order from here again!
Delicious food, great attentive service, very good Martini.
I’ve been to this restaurant several times in the past. I prefer to come here only for dinner. Buffets are not at all worth to try. Spl. Chicken biryani is good and make sure you mention not to have rice lumps in biryani. Little pricey for the quality they provide. Stuff and service is good but they take long time on orders. Location is not bad and plenty of parking place. Verdict: Hit or miss.
Just delicious. I had the meat lunch box.
Food was so so.. And the staff is very rude.. better avoid this restaurant for your own good
Not worth spending here, food is bad. All food taste like prepared days before. Pls dont waste your time & money here!
Quiet place to enjoy some great food. Always flavorful and plentiful.
I had a very nice dinner these days at Priya. I will be there at my next visit in Troy again.
I ordered malai kofta palak paneer and the food was garbage this is second time this happend
Great Indian Food! Be sure to check out their buffet options for the person who likes to try a bit of everything, they've got a great selection for good prices. Decent atmosphere and friendly staff.
I don't even like buffets... This food is so GOOD!! TASTY!! and the drinks are good too... I'm full and can't stop eating!!
I enjoy my food hear. I usually order carryout. One of my favorite chicken curries.
I don't want to waste much more time for this restaurant. Strongly not recommended. Waste of time and money
My first time here for an afternoon lunch with my Aunt around 1:30. Not swamped and no line at the buffet which we ordered. Nicole was the only waitress, however very pleasant and attentive. The food was outstanding, I especially liked the Chana Palak, as well as the soup, curried goat, spiced chicken (three kinds) and much more. I only wish I lived closer, however deffinietly Wiil be back! Yum.
I have been here twice now, and it ruined all other Indian restaurants for me...which is an issue since it's a two and a half hour trip for me to get out here
The worst restaurant there is. Order took 1 hour to be ready. And the people were very rude.
New go-to Indian place! We went on a Sunday late afternoon and there was no one there, but it seemed like they were doing a TON of takeout business. We asked for spicy and while the food wasn't bland, it didn't exactly make my face sweat either. I haven't had their buffet yet but I'm interested to see what that's like compared to ordering off of the menu
Frankly I should eat Indian food more often, and I'm glad I tried Priya. The spice level was appropriate for what you ordered (I had medium and it wasn't too hot or too weak) and the chicken tikka masala was really on point. I'll definitely be returning here.
The masala dosa was good just wished they could have given more chutney. The biryani was good as well. The boiled egg and masala just made the dish. Felt the lamb could have been cooked a bit more but otherwise it is good. The price of the food is a tad higher but nothing too worrying.
Food was good. A little spicy but good
Good place with clean environment & great food. Little bit pricey compared to other Indian restaurants.
Not very much at the buffet and $40, for lunch. Not cool.
Great for lunch buffet in Troy
