REVIEWS OF Lafayette Coney Island IN Michigan

espinoza house

Came here with my wife. Two sons, sister, and brother in law to eat. We got our food exceptionally fast and it was very good. No frills and fancy stuff. This place is a historical landmark that has less than 10nthings on the menu and should stay that way. I will definitely be back.

Alex C

It's the perfect coney dog. This is a no-frills Coney Island, and that's what makes it better than its neighbor. Be transported back in time, have an affordable, tasty and retro-meal surrounded by good people.

Terry St. Germain

Authentic spot in friendly competition with the much larger American Coney next door. $3 gets you a coney and it is amazing!

Skip Allen

Soooooo good! By far the best Coney dog in Michigan (people will debate me, but they would agree in the tops) Now the one next (also owned by the same family) is also very good, but somehow Lafayette has it by 6 inches.

Le

Pretty good chili dogs-don't know if I would consider them the best (maybe in Detroit), but the atmosphere is pretty nice. Old, old restaurant-keeping with the original layout, and very packed. They have mostly bar stool seating (a few tables) and not very big in there; so when they are busy, you become friends w/ your table neighbors very quickly. Nostalgic feel and a must try-especially since they've been around for over 100 years! I would've liked to have given them 4.5 stars but you can't on here. Oh, and have your calculator with you; the owner adds up your bill in his head...LOL

Jessica Hardwell

The best coney dog in Detroit! The chilli is soooo..... good and the onions they use is a perfect addition. I love the quality of the hotdogs and chilli. Definitely 5 stars in my opinion ! I wish I took pictures, my food was gone before I realized I didn't.... oh well just cause for another trip. Please give them a try!

Louis Tan

Was apprehensive at first, upon tasting the fries you will know this is the real deal and the chilli is the reason this place remain a staple in the city

Jennifer Smith

Husband and I visited here after the casino for the first time. Delicious! The best coneys around!

Scott Swope

Is this a 5 star restaurant? No. But it delivers exactly what you should be expecting when you go in - great dogs, great Coney toppings, great prices - and then some. This Detroit legend did not disappoint

Jill Loebbaka

So...Lafayette is the best! I kind of did a Coney challenge tonight and they have my vote! Amazing coneys and amazing customer service!!

dewan choudhury

Could and should be a place of care because of the historical significance, but it's not. Although have somewhat okay food for the price, especially for downtown.

Great atmosphere even better food

The food was fantastic.. and service was great

Nima Shams

Good quality consistent hot dogs with good service!

Elora Lyon

Love it! As an out of state tourist, I love the coneys and the history. Look it up!

Tommy Jankowski

On point everytime!!. Sit at the front counter if possible and u get your food hott and delicious within minutes. Great place!

King David

Iconic Detroit late night staple. Come here if you want the best coney dog & chili fries!

Gary Geresy

My opinion has not changed a bit these corny islands are a national treasure that should be savored the step is fantastic the atmosphere is great . If you're coming here from out of town it is a must, between them and American Coney island did Thai I give them of 5 and a scale of 1 to 51 being rotten disgusting, 5 being absolutely fantastic great well worth the timer GARY.

Ben Thurman

Best coneys and loose burgers in the city of Detroit hands down!!!!

Nicholas Lester

This place is a Detroit staple. You walk in and you see the place doesn't look like it's ever changed since it's open. Just grab a seat at any one of the stools. He'll take your order and scream it to the Cook, then a few minutes your hot dogs will come out. I got the chili cheese dogs with french fries. The coney sauce is really tasty.

Isabella Laird

It's a nice little diner. You should try it when in Detroit!

Patricia Livingston

Wish they had beef hot dogs, fries are just ok. Vernors was weak.

John Wilcox

I just wasn't impressed with the coney dog. It was okay but not worth going back again.

Jonathan Fisher

Detroit's finest Coney. There is a reason why all the photos of celebrities are on the wall.

Aaron Evans

Great original coneys..but when did this joint get so expensive? You can get great coneys elsewhere cheaper , guess they're jackin up the prices jumpin on the gentrification bandwagon. I liked downtown better when not as many other people did

Harriet Johnson

Eat like the locals. One of Detroit's Iconic land marks. Located on Lafayette Blvd here you can meet and see some of the brightest stars in the city. Lunch time is always packed but be prepared for a good meal. If you ever are in Detroit and have a chance to stop by check it out and you won't be disappointed.

Jeff Martin

They have their priorities right. No frills here, It's all about the food - which is Always Excellent! These guys are serious about bringing you the best Coney's in the world Every Time! The service is always fast, food is always fresh. The perfect compliment to a ballgame or show downtown, you will be glad you stopped by.

JMoo Vinny

I love Lafayette Coney Island, and will drive downtown from LIncoln Park at all hours when in the mood. Lately I’ve noticed they don’t keep it clean as they should. I’ve noticed lately, they have no problem handling money from one customer, and then grab a bun or hot dog with bare hand. Sorry that’s nasty and unacceptable. Most wont say anything, I will. I call them out any time they don’t use proper hygiene.

Robert Foust

Go and check this place out! Great coneys and cool staff.

Amanda Dufty

Servers are always patient. I only go in when I am waisted, but they make sure I het food fast and they put up with the drunkest of people. Going to the bathroom here is an adventure in itself.

Lori Aldrich

This is very unique place. My 79 year old mother grew up going here with her dad. The hot dogs are high quality with skins that snap. The fries are cooked wonderfully. We ordered the traditional Coney's, fries and chili cheese fries. My mom's favorite are the loose burgers. The place was packed on a Saturday. They have a limited menu that they do well. I loved the old fashioned cash register. It felt like we went back in time.

Alex C

It's the perfect coney dog. This is a no-frills Coney Island, and that's what makes it better than its neighbor. Be transported back in time, have an affordable, tasty and retro-meal surrounded by good people.

Don Johnson

I moved from Detroit in 2005. This was the first opportunity I had to visit since then. The food and quality of service hasn't changed one bit. In fact, it's the same as it was on my first visit (circa 1970's). They don't have coney islands in South Carolina. So, I miss it. And Lafayette remains my favorite.

Andrew Baumann

A Detroit institution and our first visit. We were confused at first because as you approach, there are two windows, each with people inside, making Coney dogs. If you're not paying attention, you'll miss the fact that so close together are two different Coney island hot dog restaurants, Lafayette and American. (Spoiler alert, they originated as one, American Coney, but for some reason a long time ago, a brother of the original opened his own, right next door and called it Lafayette, after the street it's on) Our meal was fast, cheap and delicious. The place was grimy, classic and perfect. There's a reason their so famous. Go check them out.

Chris Harris

Wonderful coney dogs, the skins were perfect and the buns were toasted

Beth Jenkins

Always great food at a great price.. and the place is always clean, the owner and employees are always super nice.. if i could give them 10 stars I would... go try there coneys you won't be disappointed.. and it's super fast service!!!

J S

Amazing. Hands down best coney joint. I wish they had the liquid not shredded cheese for chili cheese fries but overall it was so good. We ate from both Lafayette and American. Hands down if you're a foodie and enjoy flavor Lafayette is better. I don't understand how it's a battle. And they serve coke products which is also better. Super quick. Hot. Yummy. Come here for your coneys.

Nick Kastanis

Great dogs! Very quick service! Small place but family style seating. Make sure you have cash and avoid the service fee when you pay with a credit card. Hot dog casings are great and they have the pop when you bite into them.

Brandon Edwards

It has it's own unique taste!

Andrew R

A Detroit staple. Always a solid vibe and always a solid meal!

Pamela Thomas

My favorite place to go, they fix your food in front of you

Nicki Smith

It was a nice experience. Dogs were great. Kids didn't eat though which was disappointing. A must dine in place for the original Coney Island hot dog. Third generation Greek owned business!

Usernameisfornoobs

I've been frequenting this downtown gem since I was a teenager. The communal table in the center is the best at 3am after a night out. Never know what sort of people you'll be seated next to. Can be really interesting depending on the night and what kind of shenanigans they've, or yourself for that matter, have been up to. I absolutely love this place. Do yourself a favor and visit if you're in from out of town or have never been here and get a taste of Detroits finest coney joint. It's definitely not a trendy place for all of you looking for a fine dining experience but it doesn't get much more authentic if you're looking for a quick bite to eat after most places have closed up shop for the night or you've closed one of the many local watering holes or clubs if you get my drift.

Mike Badwolf

Amazing in every way just like I remember them in 76 when I first had them at 17. Now that’s consistent taste!

Two Tone 313

Great food great service and great prices i would recommend it to anyone

David Young

We went here because a friend swears by it. The food was good and service was fast. The server seen our empty cups and never offered to fill them. We had to ask each time for more. The place is old a dirty. The need a makeover.

Adam Antonich

Just remember coneys are like martinis. 1 is not enough and 3 is too many. I don't follow my own advice though

Mario O. Martínez Ordaz

Good place to celebrate Detroit City F. C. victories! Lafayette special tastes very good, but the place is too small and needs more color/decoration.

Brandon Miller

Best coney dogs in the D. Classic Detroit dining, always good food and service. Relatively inexpensive. Almost always busy, especially in the summer after Tiger games. If you live in Michigan, you need to go here at least once in your life.

Clinton Parsons Jr

Little local dive restaurant with best hotdogs! Servers are friendly and attentive. Small menu with star being the Lafayette hotdog ( mustard, onion, beef, cooney sause). The hot dog casing has a great snap with awesome dog within. Quick service in minutes. My favorite dog ever and a must have.

Thomas Rohr

It's the ambiance. And worth it. Fun , but I've had better dogs in the burbs.

Beth Jenkins

Always great food at a great price.. and the place is always clean, the owner and employees are always super nice.. if i could give them 10 stars I would... go try there coneys you won't be disappointed.. and it's super fast service!!!

Todd SanMillan

Placed is fun and interesting place with a soul. I'm not a fan of the Detroit Coney Island style dog, but glad we tried it. I prefer a NYC dirty water hour dog.

LaBrian Dorsey

Do NOT eat here. They have poor hygiene practice and there's no telling what else is going on. I watched a worker that was outside walk back in and, without washing his hands, eat directly from the pan of cheese.

Justice Hewlett

The service was extremely fast and very friendly.

Barbara Bauer

A friend was visiting from out of state. I wanted to take him to his first Coney island. When I asked around, this one was highly recommended. We had a great time. The food was great. The service was great. It was a memorable experience.

H Lee

American tradition at its best, if you expect fine dine, linens and waiters, please keep on driving. If you are looking for an awesome chili dog, down to earth staff and a welcome home feel, then you mustn’t miss this spot.

Mean Gene

I've always been a fan of Lafayette but the last few times have been a real disappointment. Service is still fast but the overall quality of the ingredients and preparation has slipped. Hot dogs sit on the grill for hours in our way over cooked. Chili tastes worse. I am probably in the minority on this but I've been coming here for a long time and have noticed a real change in the last 2 years.

Twan Squad

Great original hot dogs N chilli fries, Loose burgers, always fresh food, good late late night or early morning bite to eat!

Dan Theman

The only coney joint you need to know

Todd Lohenry

Had the coney dog. Like the classic Chicago hot dog better but a trusted source says this is the best place in Detroit for this traditional hot dog.

Robert Olsen

Love it. Classic place for quick eat ‼️

KAT LadyB

They did not have wind dings.... how are you a Coney with no wing dings... smdh... and you downtown Detroit.

Chris Logan

Food was good, don't make yourself go to the bathroom. Your might not make it it alive.

Shaun Manning

The dogs and fries were good. Ironically I had never been to either one. They lived up to the hype.

J S

Yvonne S

Fast and attentive service, and hot dogs are delicious. The crunchy casing is what really makes these hot dogs shine: the textural difference from your average dog makes these juicier and a better sensory experience. Also, it's very affordable if you're on a limited budget. After having eaten at Ted's in Buffalo and Portillo's in Chicago, my only regret is that I didn't eat more of these hot dogs.

Steve Thomas

This is where it all began. The origination of the coney island hot dog. Every bit as relevant and essential today as it ever was. This is hole in the wall dive is a true Detroit legend. If you've never been, what the heck is holding you back?

Joseph Tordella

Lafayette Coney Island serves up the original Detroit-style “Coney Island” hotdog with ground beef, chili, mustard, and onions; the “Coney Loose Burger” is the same without the hotdog. Great local beer list. The fries with chili and cheese were great, too. Tourist-oriented kits on sale to DIY at home.

Mike Hardie

What am incredible pure Detroit experience. You've just got to experience this place. Crazy system, bizarre bathrooms, it just is an experience!

ganoking1

We enjoyed the historical ambiance. The management was friendly. Great to try. Lovin Detroit Rock City! Btw dog was good!

David Smith

I've been going to Lafayette Coney Island sansabelt 61-62 I've always enjoyed it and that is one of my most favorite places in Detroit I am living now in North Carolina and every time I come to Detroit I made two special stops the Lafayette Coney Island in to White Castles because they don't have either one down there I enjoy Coney Island and I will always always buy me a couple of Coney's from Detroit

Albert Freeman

Best of the classic Detroit coney purveyors still keeping it real with homemade food and better quality ingredients.

shell

Detroit history you got to try it amazingly nice staff super friendly people E-Z parking you're in you're out you had yourself the best Coney you ever have

Clarence Ross

Hands down better coney than next door, sorry! The taste of the dogs here have that grille taste. The chilli and onions with the mustard is blended better than next door. To me the grimier atmosphere makes for better taste!

Josh Sabourin

Decent enough coneys, but terrible customer service and dirty environment. We arrived around 10pm on a Thursday night. We located an empty/dirty table and seated ourselves. After a few minutes someone came over with waters and asked "You know what you want?" in a somewhat rude and angry tone. He did not offer a menu or say anything else. We ordered 4 coneys and fries, which came up fairly quick, as I would expect for a place that always has them cooking, but they were nothing special. While seated next to the ice machine we observed numerous missing tiles on the wall, lots of dirt/grime as well. After this I think we waited longer for our bill than it took us to order and eat our food. We had to wait as the guy stood outside our window smoking. Server was very short with us and acted like we were seriously inconveniencing him. Definitely will not be back.

Mike

Just did the Lafayette/American Coney challenge. Lafayette wins hands down. Better service , better chilli and better french fries. Only thing American had was ambiance otherwise Lafayette all the way

Nick Kastanis

Great dogs! Very quick service! Small place but family style seating. Make sure you have cash and avoid the service fee when you pay with a credit card. Hot dog casings are great and they have the pop when you bite into them.

Dale Marcus

Anyone who calls themselves a "detroiter" or even a "Michigander" needs to be able to say they've eaten here. This is the first stop when I'm showing friends or relatives the city of Detroit. Cash only, would you expect anything less? Get the coneys "everything" because you get a strange look when you mess with a perfect Coney. Cheap food and filling, be sure to sample the other Coney place next door to truly know you just ate a better Coney. Careful on the stairs if you use the bathroom

Mary Faison

Love the hotdogs and fries. Service fast

Jamey Jones

This is the ONLY place to get your Coney on! The place next door is just a tourist trap. Everything about Lafayette is real. We got there just before the lunch rush. It got jammed fast, and there was a line out the door. We wanted to check out the other Coney joint located literally one door down, and it was half empty. We sat down and thought about ordering a couple of Coney's to compare but after waiting several minutes, couldn't get anyone to even look at us much less take our order. Eat at Lafayette. Ignore all the rest.

Sel Alvarado

Good food, fast service

Darla Van Hoey

Always a great experience, even my 7 year old cousin wanted to come back before she left for home in Belgium.

Ed Wulf

Direct to the bussines. This is not a fancy restaurant where a clerk takes to your seat. Menu is not complicated at all, several variations around one theme. "hot dogs" (known as Coney Island) You will not be disappointed, the place delivers that good taste of the old days. Also you will find a lot of locals eating here. Cheap and good, what else you need? Try the chilli cheese fries, and a couple of coneys, and you are good to go, with a part of a living historic landmark in your stomach.

Breanna King

This place is always my first stop when I come to visit! Best coney around!

Lezlye Merritt

I liked the atmosphere. Very fast paced but the loose burgers were extremely dry

Mandy Stathas

Best Coney I've ever had!!

Ken Witz

Overall fun experience. For you Chicagoans it's kind of a Billy Goat vibe. Chili dogs and chili fries are the main menu items. This is how it works: you sit down and a guy takes your order then he shouts unintelligibly to the kitchen and comes back 2 minutes later with your food. Bud or Labatt cans for $4. It has charm, history and tasty food but for today's standards it is a dump. The bathroom is down a narrow steep stairway.

Shara T

Terrible customer service, very rude and the place is filthy. American has them beat on all levels. Will never return.

Robert Cardoni

If you’re in the D and craving a Coney Dog or chili cheese fries - skip the rest and head to the best. Lafayette’s dogs have a crisp casing and are amazing smothered in chili, onions, and mustard. The fries are amazing too. Crispy golden brown goodness The place is old school and the service is old school amazing.

M Bayram

In the battle for Coney supremacy..I don't care! I enjoy Lafayette's laid back atmosphere.. sharing a Coney with a neighbor and thinking...one day I'll understand what these guys are saying!

Tim Soriano

Eat like the locals. One of Detroit's Iconic land marks. Located on Lafayette Blvd here you can meet and see some of the brightest stars in the city. Lunch time is always packed but be prepared for a good meal. If you ever are in Detroit and have a chance to stop by check it out and you won't be disappointed.

David Justus

but really I like Leo's Coney island in Royal oak they got better food there than they do over here Lafayette Coney but when I'm downtown I like to eat downtown so that's where I go Lafayette Coney island

Mike Hyser

First time in Detroit, First thing I ate. Loved it.

Sheila Stein

Have loved Lafayette coney island all my life! It's always delish!!

Michael Everhart

Best coneys downtown.

Rich Vance

Good coneys but I like National better

Marie Susalla

They have the best chili dogs! Hot dog has a nice snap to it. The chili spiced just right. The service was outstanding! This is the coney to go to of downtown Detroit! Sorry American coney they have you beat in dog, chili and fries.

Chris O

If you find yourself in Detroit after midnight with the munchies... You would be a fool not to stop in Lafayette Coney Island and feed that crave! This place has been here since the beginning of time and they truly know how to serve up the absolute finest Coney Island cuisine! Thank you to everyone who has been a part of making this a great place through the years.

Dustin Sneath

The food isn't really worth 5 stars... But the atmosphere and history is. They're simple Coney dogs and fries, but this place is just a must-visit no matter what when you visit Detroit.

Jimmy Johnson

There's a reason this place is famous. Delicious coney dogs n beer!

Matthew Keeler

Lafayette is always great. I love their Coney's. it's also nice that they finally accept credit and debit cards now.

Dan Good

Best place for a bit dog we drive 30 mins each way just to have a great hot dog

Nicholas Brokaw

I got the Lafayette special and it was the best Coney island I ever had.

Lee Garand

It's diarrhea in a bun. Lots of other great food options in Detroit, avoid this at all costs. Your rear end will thank you.

Jem M

The REAL coney island! All others are cheap imitations. The only time American is an acceptable alternative is between 3am and 9am when Lafayette is closed.

z d

What can I say? A chili cheese dawg with mustard and onions, and fast.

Steve josephs

Absolutely not fancy, like stepping into the fifties. Hot dogs, chili and fries that's it. But it was excellent, the dogs had that snap and chilli was delicious. Could be cleaner, have some beer and is inexpensive. For me I would go again.

Michelle T

The Great Hot Dog Debate - Lafayette or American?? There were 4 of us, each of us had one dog from Lafayette and one dog from American. 3 out of 4 said Lafayette hands down! If you want a delicious, make your mouth water coney dog, skip American completely and go to LAFAYETTE

Janet Lee

Not all it's hyped up to be...but the history alone is impressive....food nothing unusual...but filling.

Jerry Hostetler

Better than American Coneys.

jessica vocke

Food iis always great.

Nathan Seifert

This place is awesome.

Frank Risard

When I think America, when I think comfort, when I think about national pride....I get a Lafayette Coney Dog.

Lauren Elizabeth

A Detroit staple! Can't go downtown without stopping at Lafayette! Staff is always friendly! Been coming here since I was a child. Our orders have never been small and easy but they've never gotten anything wrong, ever!

Margarita Vasquez

Every time I come back to Detroit to visit....I always make it a point to stop here. One of the many places I miss! Love it!!!

Samir Puraj

Far and away best option for a quick meal. Amazing service, great food for cheap, cant go wrong here. Whether its for lunch before a day out in Detroit, before/after any ball game, or 3am after a night of drinking (which is my favorite time to go). I always tell everyone, sometimes lafayette is more fun than the main thing you ended up doing. Try it out, never gets old. Have been 1000 times and will be there 1000 more.

Jessica Maddox

A Go To for anyone looking for an amazing quick meal. Their chilli is unlike any other coney Chilli.

Brian Tsang

Fast service great food

Charese Howard

Basic. Clean. Classic. Always the same great Coney.

Michelle Robbins

Detroit staple!! Lafayette Coney Island is one of the original Detroit style Coney Island hot dog restaurants. It shares a wall with its 'rival' American Coney Island. We sat at the counter while the staff constantly removed dirty plates, napkins, etc. The ambience is more like a NYC diner including the bathroom that is about the size of the driver seat in my car.

Evan

Not sanitary. Chef working the fries had a dirty bandaid and no gloves. Chefs working the hot dogs/chili touched money and then food without washing their hands. I brought a friend from out of town to show him how awesome the food was. We both left feeling really grossed out and disappointed.

Brenda Norato

Its not like I thought it would be like I saw on the TV show Man vs Food. It was our first time visiting and we were trying to talk with our waiter and ask what was the difference and recommended to have but he said "no English" The restroom wasn't all that clean. And when my husband went to ask to take a picture with the owner of the restaurant me said "no" The chilli dog tasted good for a chilli dog but its something I really don't need to go back to

john twogunns

They're scum here you can come here for a whole year every Sunday and right towards the end when I sat down they never serve you and then people will sit down right after you came in and they will serve them I've walked out of this place more times than none.. I would say terrible service but I can't because they have to serve you first...

Clarissa Elise

Visited the establishment around 130am on a Saturday. Surprisingly, we got right in to a table and ordered. Food came extremely fast which was wonderful. The coney's are the best I've ever had. A nice snap of the dog and the mustard....theres something about the mustard that is heaven! Definitely will go back.

Lisa Bullard

I love bringing the kids down here. Great food great service.

Tony Gize

Its a historic and nostalgic place. You get hotdog with chilli slapped on it

Brian Cote

The one and only coney dog to get when in Detroit. Wait. Get two with a chili cheese fry. Dont forget to top it off with some pie.

Brooks Duggan

Incredible, no other doo-dandy place out there for Coney's

David Fuentes

Place wasn't great at all. My waiter didn't seem friendly. The chili dog looked like something I would have made with my eyes closed at home with generic ingredients. The price for that Chili Disaster & beer wasn't worth it. I wouldn't go back. I was told by Detroit residence that you'd have to go to the ghetto for a true Coney Dog.

Cindy Keen

Coney was fantastic and service was good. Cool place!

Daniel DeNeve

$4.75 for an American dog, which was not good. The hotdog itself was okay and the chili was subpar. The staff was nice and the place was not dirty. However I go to restaurants for the food.

Jason Boechler

Very very very small place... bathroom is an iconic thing you have to go down and see atleast once... good food give it a try if your walking around downtown

Nicholas Stenton

Fantastic Coney dogs after a few tasty beverages.

Jason Castleberry

Some of the best coney's in town!

Maxine And Cheese

Only has coney dogs and chilli fries, wasnt expecting that. Decent food, but just decent. The old man who catered to us led us into the back dungeon where we could watch all the magic happen.

Ernest Rodgers

This is the most iconic coney island spot in Detroit!

Colleen Laginess

It's the bomb. Great food

Patricia Malasgrover

Miss the help and my hot dogs, best ice and coke

Margarita Vasquez

Every time I come back to Detroit to visit....I always make it a point to stop here. One of the many places I miss! Love it!!!

Samir Puraj

Hannah Ro

Holy Heck, I did not know a chili dog could be this good. We went to American Coney first by mistake, and we had some damn good chili dogs there. As we left, a gentleman from the window of Layfettes waved at us through the window so we decided to stop in and split a dog. It was absolutely amazing. They even split the dog on to two plates for us. We ordered a few to go because they were so good. I’ve had many good chili dogs. I love Skyline, and Rudy’s and Jan’s in Toledo, but Layfette’s was truly other-worldly. It lived up to the hype and more. I will be there multiple times every time I’m in Detroit. Try it!!! You will not be disappointed.

Eric Faris

The best cones in Detroit. No frills. Tasty food. Quick service.

Jeremy eaton

Another great Detroit foodie institution!

Dan Hertz

My cousin and I wanted to try the battling Coneys so we went to both American and Lafayette. We got the same thing at both: a coney and chili cheese fries and lafayette is far superior in every way. The bun was moister, the dog tasted better: both the filling and skin. The mustard, onions, meat sauce. The fries were of better quality and cut. The cheese was better too. Even the atmosphere was better. It just made you feel comfortable.

Parenting 101

Best Coney I grew up to eating here with my mom!

Daniel Kanarek

A Detroit institution. The best coney island in Detroit hands down! Chili fries are some of the best around also.

John Landis

The one and only! Accept no substitutes. Always the first choice, especially if deciding between them and their neighbor. Why can’t all coney dogs taste like theirs...seriously, that’s a real question. Oh and don’t forget the secret hidden Batman basement bathroom.

Renthos

Great service, delicious food and amazing prices!

Michael Cuevas

Great place for that midnight snack. Service outstanding and the food hits the spot. Local staple in the city that everyone goes to. In and out quick.

lauren fischer

Me and my family went there before going to the tigers game and it's just HORRIBLE. Let's start with the bathrooms, the stairs are narrow and once you get down there it smells like someone just took a dump also the bathroom is the size of a closest. Next the service, we had to repeat are self's like 10 times and they still got it wrong it was very confusing. And last it looks HORRIBLE in condition.

When you walk in this iconic Detroit landmark and smell the aroma of fresh cut onions and Coney dogs on the grill, you'll know you're in for distinctly Detroit treat. Mustard, onions and link sausages called hot dogs, all topped with a special chili make it. Standing the test of time at Michigan and Griswold in the D. No ketchup please. This ain't Chicago...

One of the best Coney Islands in Detroit! Good service, lively atmosphere for the Detroit Jazz Festival!

They didn't have much on the menu so i only ordered fries. The waiter stood over my boyfriend and i the entire time we were there. It was really uncomfortable. But the fries were good

Great food, but when it’s busy it’s hard to tell who is in line so it gets a tad bit hectic!

Porsha's New Life Journey

Me and my son was out in the town and he had never been there and it was exciting to tell him the history of the brothers But over all great food

The best dogs! I have been away for years and had to have some Coney's when I got to Detroit. Didn't disappoint!

I don't really get the hype. It wasn't a bad coney, but wasn't great either. Just your average coney dog. I've had better.

Just as good as 20 plus years ago

I have been here countless times, hands down one of my favorite places to visit in the city. Best chili ever, the staff are so speedy and friendly. Love it here.
