This is the first place in my life I could not finish my breakfast. It wasn't because it was bad or I wasn't hungry. It was just that filling and delicious. It was truly a remarkable experience all the same. Part of the B.O.B. initiative (Black Owned Business), this truly sets the stage for what the up and coming Livernois/7 mile shopping district is all about. I had the mac and cheese, red velvet waffle, the hot fried chicken, and this amazing rainbow of Kool Aid. Needless to say I was really hungry. It was definitely worth the visit, great staff and service! Perfect for bringing your family! (And sharing) :p

Brought my niece for a late lunch. The server did not come for several minutes. Then 2 servers came within seconds of each other. We were extremely disappointed in the meal. The chicken wings were warm and dry. They were out of greens and the server apparently didn't know that when she took our order. The mac and cheese was bland and lacked moisture. I have eaten at Kuzzos several times before. My previous dining experiences were great. However, they missed the mark this time. Even though the restaurant wasn't crowded, the server did not come back timely to check on us. Very disappointing dining experience.

No Parking! Beware! The ticket agents are busy... The food was okay but service is super slow so plan on along wait and put plenty of time on the parking meter.... Waffles awesome the chicken was crispy and the sides only okay. To heavy on starch & carbs categories for my taste you will nap after this meal.

Serve was nonexistent..everyone around us was complaining that their chicken was raw on the inside..for 15 minutes I heard this mind you with no wait staff even giving us waters...it was on a Monday. I have heard such great things about this place and I really wanted to try it. Oh well

The wait time is usually 2 hours, 20+ minutes to have your order taken and a half hour or more to get your food. The food is good but it wouldn't take so long to be seated or get your food if the service wasn't so slow. The wait staff is very friendly and professional

The food is delicious and I love it. The service is horrendous. I have ordered twice delivery. Twice I didn't get what I ordered and this last time I got charged an extra $5.12 for their mistake. The first time I never got my peach cobbler and both times the wait times went from 40-60 minutes (average for delivery) to 90 minutes this last time. The delivery person suffers with this as well because it isn't there fault but they often get blamed and they can't deliver to other people. I love the food but everything else needs to be better organized.

I don't know what all the hoopla is about but it can't be the under cooked chicken and waffles. Maybe it's for the food I didn't try. I had to fry the chicken longer at home. I was so disappointed that I just tossed the waffles. I tried them because of all the good things I have heard about them. The chicken is delicious once it's fully cooked. I'll give credit where it's due. If that's their intent for the customer to finish cooking pink chicken then they should charge accordingly. I'm just saying.

This was my first time at Kuzzo's, the chicken was seasoned really good, but the waffle was cold. I may try them again during the week when they are less busy. The waitress was #1, but we were asked to move our seats 3 times

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday morning and had a great meal. The chicken is delicious and cooked really well. The waffles though were very good and definitely worth getting. A few people I went with got the hot chocolate and were raving about it as well. This is definitely a good place.to check out to get some great food, especially if you're a big fan of chicken and waffles.

1st impression..... Absolutely amazing!!!! The wait was a little long for the food, but it assures me that everything is made fresh to order, and was definitely worth the wait. The chicken wings were a satisfying size, and had ZERO feathers left on it. That tells me that they clean the chicken very well before cooking. And the waffles.... had to be made from Heavenly Manna. By far some of the best waffles, if not the best waffles, I've ever tasted. And topping them with the Natural Maple Syrup put it over the top. Definitely making another trip to this wonderful Jewel of the city.

3 stars because the food is good. The service and wait are terrible. All these problems could go away if they allowed call in orders. I waited 2 and a half hours for my food That’s why I only come here like 3 times out the year. The wait is ridiculous. There are other places that are just as busy but the wait is not nearly as long... they have so much potential but it is causing a bad reputation just cause the service and wait.

The food is great, but the service is god-awful. It's bad enough for me to knock off two stars from what is otherwise a 5-star review. Wait for food takes forever, and that's if you get seated within a reasonable time. Second visit here, we were told it would be a 25 minute wait. An hour and a half later, we left when it looked like the wait to eat wasn't going to get any better. If they fix their service, this place would be perfect. Hope they do, because the food is excellent.

Great food, service, beverages, staff, and location. I didn’t have to pay for parking or walk too far from my car to the restaurant. The wait was a bit lengthy, about 45 minutes. It was so worth it for the chicken and waffles. This is my go to place for chicken and waffles. And the Kool-Aid is really good.

Service was so very slow. Very similar to other one star ratings for Kuzzo’s. We expected to wait for a table so a 15 minute wait wasn’t a problem. But after being seated we waited 30 minutes before a server came to our table. Most of our food took 45 minutes to arrive. One of our party took 50 minutes for her food to appear. Food was not very warm when it arrived. We still didn’t have silverware. Asked 3 different servers before it arrived. Then we ate our cold food. We were never asked for drink refills. We are sad that our experience was not good.

We went during happy hour and were seated quickly. Place was clean and had a bar on one side and seating on the other side. Service was quick and attentive although our waitress didn't seem to be the most knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the Bam Bam (2 drumsticks and 2 waffles) and my wife ordered the Big Red (chicken, red velvet waffle, and a side). Also ordered the kool aid, the catfish bites, and a side of grits. Our appetizer and our sides came after our meals were served. As for the food, the waffles were better than I thought they would be. Chicken was delicious. Skin was crisp and the meat was juicy. The sides were good, but a little bland. I really liked the catfish bites. They were tender and the batter was tasty. I didn't get to taste anything on the breakfast menu, but it looks delicious. I definitely plan on coming back, but the pricing will prevent me from going more often.

My 1st time coming to kuzzo's I was seated quickly, then from that point no one never came back to offer water take our order or acknowledge us sitting there. As others was seated very close next to us whom received water, coffee and food order was taken even though they came in after us. I didn't know if it was a skin thing who knows, but they were taken care of. As we got up to leave the lady ask why were we leaving I explained she said someone else may have been over our table, I said like who? The 5 or 6 ppl standing back there playing and talking. We try to support our own. Now come to this day a few weeks ago after years of me walking out. We were seated, waitress had a bad attitude, didn't want us asking her anything and the chicken was bland she never came to get our money, we went to pay the check up front, which they told us we had to wait on that Chile to take the check. 15 minutes of waiting to pay, the guy came over cleaning the table as we're sitting that as if we wanted cumbs in our lap. The manager went to get the waitress to tell her to take out check upfront. I still tipped her well, As a business manager the whole team needs training and or replaced. I will never return. This made me mad because I never would leave a not so good review I just let it go. This situation needs to be rectified!! It's your business don't allow these employees drag it down. I heard good things about this place and hope that one day the service can be as good as I use to hear it was when they mentioned it on the news.

Chicken was amazing. It was crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. It had a nice seasoning that paired well with the sweet pancakes and syrup. The lemonade was thirst quenching and abundant. Service was slow but server was nice and kind.

If possible I’d give it no rating. I’ve had a handful of bad restaurant experiences, but this was absolutely the worst and I was just trying to celebrate my birthday. We walk in and eventually we were greeted by the host, who then tells us to hold on and proceeded to clean tables, weird flex but ok. She sat us at none of the tables she just cleaned. Cool. We wait and wait for a server to come over. A lady comes and drops off straws and says “be right back” and never came back. My final let’s gtfo and go somewhere else is when im thirsty as hell waiting for a server to come and these hogs are arguing about whose going to serve us. We got up and left. If you hate your job, find a new one. We just wanted great food (which we found, thanks OPEN PIT BABYBACKS). Don’t waste your time or energy here, when there’s amazing places just as close!!!

To be fair, we came during the lunch rush. But it took about half an hour to take our orders, then about an hour for our food to come out. It looked like they had one waiter for both the bar and floor. But despite the slow service, the food was excellent. I tried boneless chicken, a waffle, and hot chocolate and all were fantastic. So if you have time to wait around, I recommend it. If you're in a hurry, get takeout (call ahead) instead.

As of April 2019, Tues-Thursday they are NOT open til 9pm. They close at 8pm. We suggested they update their hours on their website and on google, because we showed up at 8pm on a Wednesday and they were closed :( Amazing chicken and waffles. Where to start first arrival 35 minute wait no problem I don’t mind waiting. Got seat party of two was told someone came in claiming to be me and my party of two smh so we were seated at a different table. Then our order was taking no silverware ever arrived and I noticed as others were seated they were given there menus and silverware. Ok fine then our water came out one had speck of grain the other had a small hair on the rim. I haven’t even got to the food that hasn’t come out before making this review so right now I’m at a 2 star and ready to walk out.

I read the reviews after my experience, I should have read them first. The food was amazing. I had the catfish and it was southern fried hmmm hmmm. That said, one reviewer said it was a 30 minute wait from the time they were seated till the time they were served. We were able to beat that time by 30 min. It was well over an hour from the time we were seated till the time we received the last meal. We asked to see the manager and it took another 15 min for the manager to show.

Came here on late Friday morning. I have passed this place up before because of the lines during the weekends so today was my lucky day to try it out. Let me just say parking was a challenge but I was able to find street parking close by and download the Park Detroit app. The staff was friendless and greeted us and the food was tasty. The pancakes were spongy and sweet that complemented the savory flavor of the chicken. I also had eggs and grits which were also delicious. I asked for my eggs over easy and they came like how I wanted them. Everyone was pretty much relaxed and friendly, and the price point not too bad. Will come back again.

The waffle flavor and chicken tenders were great! Waffle flavor was sweet with nutmeg and not too much cinnamon. But they were spongey like pancakes. Eggs tasted like the liquid kind from an extended stay hotel breakfast. Just thin and runny. I asked the waitress if they served real eggs and she said they were. Maybe they are adding water or something. But they were terrible. Who makes bad eggs and serves cold food? The room temp butter wouldn't even melt on the waffle because they were so cold.

Waited almost 2hrs to be seated, then an additional 2hrs for average food & incomplete orders after being seated. Wait staff & manager offered poor excuses & our food was barely warm when we received it. We were not checked nor offered more beverages on throughout the excessive wait. Will NEVER return! Horrific experience! To top it off they took $20 off of our bill as if that adequate. A completely horrific experience!

Got here at 10:30am. Told us 30 minutes wait. 11am o clock we finally get a table. Diddnt get waters until 11:25am. Waited for our server until 11:30am. Diddnt bring our coffee out till 12. Are you guys serious? The food was awesome the first time. The second time it tasted like they cooked everything without seasoning. We attempted to give it one more try today. However even though their Google listing shows them as being open. They were closed, likely due to construction in the area. Even still the manager or owner should have updated the Google listing to reflect being closed and better yet should have had a voicemail informing their valued customers of the same thing. Customer service doesn't just apply when your location is open it's an ongoing thing folks. Smh.

Presentation of most of our meals: Wonderful! Chicken and waffles, how could one go wrong? First, never try to pass a piece of breast meat off as a thigh! Second, serve food hot: temp wise! The five of us, three generations, really wanted the meal to go nicely. My daughter ate at Kuzzos about three years ago and was so excited to bring us there. Management, Kitchen, Step up your game! The hostess and waitress were very accommodating and were tipped accordingly. Funky, family atmosphere, sporty, full bar - FYI.

I understand that it was Sunday but we waited 1hour and thirty minutes to be seated then an additional thirty minutes to see a server. After we ordered we didn’t see our server again until she was coming out with our food and drinks. I ordered the shrimp and grits and it was cold, others in my party had cold food as well. The bill was wrong by 7 dollars. This meal was a disaster. maybe takeout next time

The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because we arrived at 11am was told there was a 25 minute wait. We got a table in 47 minutes but that was not a big deal. It was the 1 and 20 minutes it took to get our food and another hour on top of that to get our bill and cash out.. Also our server only filled our drinks once and that was only after being asked repeatedly during the 3-4hrs we were there. She didn't check to see if we needed anything the entire time nor could we see her on the floor. For this reason I won't be returning. If I lived nearby instead of over 2hrs away it would be a different story.

This place is horrible now this is the second time we have received horrible chicken. The chicken was dry and burnt with no seasoning. It also appeared that it was fried in dirty grease. It’s really sad that this place has gone down like this. Oh and you better not call and complain they will get very nasty. Has potential to be a great place. Food is good, servers are courteous, restaurant is clean. BUT service is soooo slow. Took me an hour to get food after I was seated, and my order was not correct. My chicken breast was HUGE (good thing) but a little undercooked towards center (bad). I was told they're short of workers which is common for restaurants these days. I understand, but poor service, inconsistent food makes for a terrible dining experience. Will go back for second chance.

I do understand that it was a Sunday however a 40 minute turned into an hour and 20 minute wait. Once we were seated it took 10 minutes for our server to come to our table and another ten for drinks. It literally took 55 minutes for us to get our entree's (chicken and waffles) which by that time I barely wanted it and it was average at best. Something has happen...not sure if management is different or if it's just who they are hiring. My experience was Horrible and I use to love this place!! I haven't been here in about a year but boy has things changed... from the smell of dirty rags in the air when you walk in the door to the stank attitudes of the waitresses I don't know which was worse. My meal was sub par, drinks weren't what we ordered. The whole experience was blah. I live 40 minutes away and didn't mind the drive but TRUST I won't be back...

I have been here for an hour and a half exactly. Still no food! It doesn’t appear to be anyone running the place. The waitresses constantly say “I don’t know” to anything you ask them. I have not been offered a refill at all,. They definitely need a component and experienced manager on board and some training for everyone involved as a team member here! They are slow!!! Where is the system in place to make things flow smoothly?? Smh. Will update with the quality of the food. I really hope it is worth the wait seeing that they must be making everything completely from scratch!

What an amazing find. From the moment I walked in the staff was nice and welcoming. The host was a delight, the service was great, our drinks and food came out quite quickly. The chicken was near perfection. Just enough batter, you still can see and taste the skin which added to the texture. On top of that, meat was very juicy not oily or greasy at all. Then there are the waffles, wow. They have a wonderfully unique taste that is meant to be eaten with chicken. Whipped sweet butter that spreads like whipped cream. I also tried the red koolaid and I was immediately transported to my grandma's house. The interior is so cool, I could write a whole review on that alone. My only issue is, I don't think I'll be enjoying chicken and waffles outside of Kuzzo's, you are not going to find this anywhere else. I came all the way from East Lansing, and I will be doing it again.

After googling where to go eat in Detroit. I stumbled upon Kuzzo’s chicken and waffles. Excited about trying something different. We were told that we couldn’t be seated but instead order to go. Left a stale taste being that dining in was more of what I wanted to do. Once getting the food I realized that some items from our order was missing. And we didn’t have eating utensils to devour the food. Chicken wasn’t fried thoroughly.

I have been here before and food was great. I went tonight and it was horrible.I ordered the big red with chicken wings, and Mac & cheese and she brought me tenders they were really dry like they reheated them also the Mac & cheese was not good very dry like it was reheated. I told her that I wanted wings and she told me that they are not serving wings anymore at 7:30pm ; when other people was coming in and order chicken wings she never told them they were out of wings. Ridiculous wait times good food but not worth our time. 2 hours including 30 minute wait time for seat for 4 people on a Saturday at 3 and it wasn't ridiculously busy. One of our meals came out 30 minutes after other 3.

So I’m eating my food at home because it was cold by the time I got everything. I brought my girl friend here to celebrate our birthdays, it was her first time. KUZZO what happened? I was totally embarrassed! (A lot of excuses, I feel bad for the wait staff, it must be really challenging working under these conditions). Reading the reviews this appears to be normal. Want to support but not worth my time. I pray things get better.

My food was awful. My Mac and cheese was mushy and crunchy all at once. My sons chicken leg had pink in it. Then the waitress was like if you want a Kool aid refill it costs. Needless to say I’m pretty done with Kuzzo’s oh and now my husband feels sick.

Waffles and chicken were great... waffles tasty, chicken nice, flavorful & crispy. Eggs and grits were sub-par. Food was brought room temperature. Waitress was inattentive. Interior door was propped open in the winter... c'mon!

This rating is based solely on the service. HORRIBLE. Waited an hour to be seated and over an hour to get the food. Sad part is our waitress didn't acknowledge the long wait time until it was brought to her attention. I'm sorry weekend or not. No excuse. You should not have a place of business that is supposed to SERVICE customers and you can't handle weekend crowds. This type of "SERVICE" is bad for business. The food is good. But definitely will not be returning. Especially when you're telling your customers if they don't want to wait the weekend is not for you because the kitchen is too small to accommodate.

I’m only giving 3 stars because the food is so good if it wasn’t I would give 1. The service is terrible, there is always a wait of 45 minutes or more and they don’t do call in orders. I could understand not excepting call in orders if the wait wasn’t always extremely long. The servers always look annoyed and barely speak to you unless you behave rudely. If you are quiet they skip right over you. Maybe the service staff is frustrated because there is always so many people who are irritated because they have been waiting on their food for nearly a hour... That can be fixed if management allowed call in orders. That way you can get in and out. The food is really good though. But it’s not worth all the frustration.

Had chicken and re Velvet waffle, the Greens we're delicious. The Long Island ice tea is an awesome drink Party of three for lunch and we all enjoyed kuzzo's. Really a nice job on the building and decorating. Great service and great food. What's not to Love!

Omg the best Chicken & Waffle place Ever! Love the food, I always get the Tweety Bird -2 wings with cinnamon waffles- Delicious. The hostess is energetic, waitress friendly, the music is good and the prices are reasonable ( most meals under $15)

Today I wanna talk about Chicken & Waffles, never had em before, together that is with eggs and syrup! I'm blown away! Absolutely delicious! Thank goodness there's not a place close by I know about that serves this delectable treat! . I stopped by Kuzzo's while visiting Detroit recently. It was a great choice for my first taste of this combination. Everyone here was so friendly and helpful, mind you they chuckled a bit when they found out it was going to be a first for me. The waffles were out of this world! The chicken was super crispy on the outside & oh so tender & juicy on the inside! Covered in syrup, it was incredible! Oh, and did I mention the sweet tea & lemonade? I've been missing out, seriously! Anyway, the food was delicious, I can't wait to come back, . Thanks Kuzzo's!

This will be the last time i come to this restaurant. I came hear about 2 years ago and did not remember why i had said i would not be back. Coming here this time has reminder me. I waited 30 mintues for a table. Thats fine...however... when my party of 3 sat down we waited 10 mintues before even getting water (which I had to ask for) then another 5 mintues for our waiter to even come to the table and this after asking who was seeing to our table (total of 15 mintues). E When Lex came there was no apology for the lack of service. I asked for 3 half pint drinks and was told that size was only for children and i would have to order the pint size. I am confused... I am the paying customer correct? If i don't want a jar full of suger i should be able to not order it. Correct? The Manager Ms. Veronica tried to help however was not able to beacuse im over 12 and can only order the pint size. Realy? I will do without it thank you! And to top it all off we had to wait another 40-45 mintues for the order to arrive at the table. Thoses who came in after us got serviced before us. Yup this was the reason the last time I said I would not be a customer here again.

Waited over ten minutes to even get someone to greet our table. She proceeded to tell us she’ll be right with us and didn’t even come back... Finally another waitress took our order and it still took an additional 10-15 minutes to get our beverages, followed by soggy waffles and soggy chicken with a side of rubber eggs! This place is straight trash and needs new management with servers that aren’t HOODRATS!

Worse service I have ever experienced in my life. My eggs were cold with no cheese and the grits had no cheese. The chicken and waffles were still good. This was my second time I went there. This experience is far worse than the first time. The server had an attitude and the food took an hour to come out. Very disappointing visit. I won't go back for a very long time. If I could give it less than one star I would.

Very busy restaurant around the clock, the waitress was nice came fast with my beverage and took my order quick, but then 30-40 minutes later came back saying that she forgot what our order was and never put in our until she found it under the little notebook pad & she then put it in. People who came and sat down in way after me got there food then another 25-30 minutes our food still wasn't ready then another waitress came and said it was gonna be 5 minutes for it. Eventually our food came It was semi hot tasted a little mediocre but it was still okay for my taste. Then after i boxed my food I asked to speak to the manager because half of my food was cold and that took an extra 15 minutes the manager took 18% off our bill which probably was the only good thing about my first experience here. Next time I'll just get my food to go instead
