I enjoy a handful of the craft beers but the price of food is a little high. I typically have no issue coming here but is not my recommended/go to bar. Great for your first experience and brew tour of GR.

While there are microbrewery here in Grand Rapids, this microbrewery is pretty awesome. They have a few unfiltered IPAs. What sets the beer apart are its hop and malt usage. Where you might find a resinous hop profile in a west coast IPA or citrusy hops in the east coast version, the Northeast IPA employs hops in a way to develop a tangy complex juice flavor that is low on the bitterness scale. The cloudy is courtesy of an an awesome combination While the solids are strained, the beer is unfiltered, creating a beverage that better resembles orange juice than beer. We had the infinity Flux which fits the previous description. The ambiance was super relax and invited. Most visit when you are in Grand Rapids.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and sat up at the bar. The bartender was very helpful guiding us through the beer menu and made some awesome recommendations with the Bon Bon Fire (Milk Stout) and Charles Bradley (Coffee Stout). Food list was extensive with a shareable appetizers, sandwiches, burgers and larger entrees. Went with their award winning 1-800-Hotline-Beef and it did not disappoint! Would highly recommend! Great spot to come out with friends to watch sports or just relax and throw back a couple pints.

The interior here was really trendy and open. We were here pretty early so it was mainly a brunch crowd, with what looked like an awesome build your own Bloody Mary bar. We didn't partake in brunch or the bloody marys and instead tried the Daryl (Strawberry) Oat Pale Ale & Jim's Travels Black IPA, which were great. Will definitely be back to try some more beer and the food!

This place is unique and delicious!! Our family came in for appetizers and beer. They sat us very quickly and we're very helpful. They were great at helping us try beers and picking the one we wanted. They have a large variety of beers ranging from ales to sours. I had the Princess Unicorn's Bloody Red Wedding sour beer and it was incredible. We ordered a variety of appetizers (the brewer board, buffalo cauliflower, pretzel and beer cheese, fried pickles, and a bunch of others) each of them were amazingly delicious. THEY MADE THE BEST WINGS ANY OF US HAD EVER HAD. I truely suggest to anyone to order some. Our waiter was amazing and helpful. We decided to buy a pint for the kitchen because we enjoyed everything so much. We suggest this place to anyone who enjoys beer and good food.

Beautiful brewery in a beautiful city. I had a flight of beer that was very fairly priced. The beer was delicious. I got the boar burger which was really good and my wife got the meatloaf which actually wasn't very good at all. It was dry and pretty burnt on the edges. Still the server was nice and it had a nice atmosphere!

Good food. Great beer. Excellent variety of styles with many which are as good or better than the best known in that category. Fishladder is a great IPA, very similar to Bells Two Hearted but a little sweeter finish. Awesome ambiance with a good menu. Lots of items that look good to eat. Don't fear the pepper jack cheese sauce. It is wonderfully balanced with a little spice but not too much and not overpowering. Try it on a bunch of their items.

I booked a private party here the night before my wedding and it was amazing! We were properly staffed for the night and everyone there had an amazing time. We had around 100 people coming in and out through the night and they always had prompt drink service and the food from the kitchen was absolutely amazing. Most of my groomsmen actually enjoyed that party better than my actual wedding. The game room was also set aside for us and the staff did well to keep crashers out of the party. I can keep going about how perfect it was, me and my wife are super grateful to the staff there for such excellent service. To wrap it up, the food and drink are top notch, the space itself creates a really fun and intimate atmosphere while keeping it open and the staff will do everything in their power for a great night.

This was the worst place/brewery of all the breweries I visited while in Grand Rapids recently. The place felt haunted. I was there to try some of the their beer, and I ordered the flight. All of them were absolutely disgusting. I could stomach the stout, but I couldn't even finish the Dashing Adjective. It was the worst beer experience of my life. Definitely a strange crowd of people, not a place I would ever recommend or even consider going back to.

I went for my first time during a Grand Rapids Public Library event which was held in the back room. I had a great time the service was wonderful even though there was only two waitresses they did a superb job. I've got the Dank fries which were spicy but I would recommend them, and my beer choice was Crepuscular Rays, very nice. I would say for downtown Grand Rapids the prices for very affordable.

No. Just no. The beer is fine, however if you need a bite go some place else. We have been there with groups 3 times. Not once have the orders been timely, accurate or remotely warm. Soggy and way to salty fries. In addition the sandwiches are very bare of substance. If it says 'piled high' on the menu....it's not. Final insult to injury....2 of the 3 times there they have not done the billing correctly. Watch your bill!

In the self-proclaimed Beer City, how could one ~not~ visit a bunch of beer-centric spots while in town? My siblings and I visited this fun spot a few weeks ago while visiting my sister who lives in the area. We ventured in on a Friday evening around 6pm, and the girls at the hostess stand let us know that there was a long waitlist for a table and that the back room was closed for a private event. Luckily, there were a few spaces open at the bar along the front window, so we snagged a few bar stools there. My brother's almost 21, but not quite, so he sat and was given seat-watching duty as my sister and I ordered beers from the counter (don't worry, we didn't get him a beer -- plus, the bartender required an ID for every alcoholic beverage ordered). I picked a flight, which was $6 for 6 different beers, meaning each taster was only $1. I don't think I've ever seen prices so low for a flight, and that made me so happy! I was told to write down each beer I wanted on a piece of paper given to me by the bartender, and then she placed the tasters in the wooden holder in the order I wrote them in. I gladly carried my wooden plank all the way back to our spot. The wooden plank was kind of sticky, so I assume they just don't wash them in-between uses. The counter we were seated at was pretty sticky, too. Don't get me wrong, this does *not* bother me. I always say, for the most part, if a place is sticky, it probably is pretty authentic. Weird opinion? Maybe. That's just me, though, and I know a lot of people are sticklers about cleanliness, so if that's you, this place is probably not for you. Just being honest. We didn't try any of the food here, but we would've had there been a table open. No sweat, though, we'll definitely try when we come back next time we're in town!

The vegan wrap/sandwich is the best I've had in a long long time (including from vegan restaurants)!! My partner, an avid meat/cheese eater, also thought his food was great. He was particularly thrilled about the scotch egg on the menu.

Sub par service, seemed unhelpful in finding a space for a party of 7. Have been here previously and got a similar vibe but this solidified that despite good food and beer, I won’t be back. Plenty of other restaurants and breweries to discover.

The food is good enough, but be warned if you're coming here on a lunch break or some other situation where you might have limited time. We waited about 45 minutes just for salads (before the lunch rush even hit, there was only one other table seated) and our server was particularly absent, so we couldn't even get an update on our order. We eventually ended up asking the bartender to check on it, which he graciously did. The food itself was okay, but it's really hard to enjoy when you've got to ask for a box right away when your order finally arrives.

Went to the Grand Rapids Brewing Company with a large group of +20 people and we had our own private room. Our server did a excellent job making sure we all received our food and drink orders throughout the night. I ordered the 1-800 Hotline Beef burger and it was great , if you prefer a roast beef hamburger with a slightly sweet taste ( thanks to its cowboy candied jalapenos) you will like this burger The Darryl strawberry pale and the vandermill cherry cider I ordered both were great but I would give the slight nod to the Brewerys own creations. One dessert I would hesitate on recommending is the root beer float I felt that the root beer float had too much foam and not enough root beer or ice cream Otherwise I had a great time and would come back

I work in food service and my boss would never allow this to go on someone’s dish. Also our server was not as good as past servers. She never offered us water, never gave her name, and didn’t check to see how our food was.

Grand Rapids Brewing Co features a rustic yet boisterous atmosphere that features two full bars and an entire room dedicated to games. While we only stopped by to enjoy their famous Silver Foam lager, I was thoroughly impressed with the service, quality of beer along with the overall vibe. This is an ideal spot to grab a pint with friends or family.

Grand Rapids is beer city USA. This means Grand Rapids is all about the breweries and all about the beer. Being someone with a historian background it means something to me that GRBC was the first and oldest brewery in Grand Rapids brewing silverfoam all the way back in the late 19th century here in GR. The establishment you see there is not them technically speaking, but they hark back to that legacy and you can see they take great pride in it. While there I ordered the petite chouette, which was a light crisp sour ale that was more tart than sour (which was pleasant) and I couldn't say I had a full GRBC experience without ordering their silverfoam, which is an American lager, and quite frankly it was one of the best lagers I ever had. For food I ordered the PBJ burger, which though sounds weird was absolutely amazing. Their dank fries are to die for too. I cant recommend this place if you really want what I call the "full GR experience" when visiting from another city, state or country. Keep in mind that the beers and food changes from time to time, but there will always be good food and the silverfoam will always be there too.

Tried a flight of their darker brews. Beers were good, service was excellent, food was decent. My wife didn't care for the sweetness of the sauce on the roast beef sandwich that had been featured on Man vs Food and felt the roast beef could have been more tender. The seasoned fries that accompanied it were good. The deep fried artichokes were prepared just fine, but the subtleties of a flavor like artichoke are lost in the process. The sauce that came with them was not bad. Lighting was just about right, not too dark or too bright; decor was a plain but not displeasing rustic-modern.

I don't give out a ton of 5 star reviews, but GRBC earned it. The beer is good, the food is good, and the game room is awesome. It really makes all the difference to be able to play some games at the bar. It also makes it easier to take the family. There was an entire youth hockey team there when I went and there were still enough games for everyone.

We had the best time on the busy first Saturday of spring break around 5 PM. It was packed, and the wait was the expected 45min, but the game section wasn't too crowded. The hostesses were so sweet, and our server, Sidney, and was amazing. Seriously, I usually have to beg to get my teenager's refills, but I actually had to cut him off with her. She just kept appearing out of nowhere with a new drink. I never saw her write anything down, but everything was perfect. I love GRBC, and make everyone I know come here when they come to town, but I had to leave a review for this experience.

Rock solid beer gets 4.5 stars the kitchen gets 2. If you serve a stale burger bun, you must toast it. Frankly, you should always toast the bun. Ordered medium - burger was well done. Cold fries.

this is a staple for visiting grand rapids. they have a good beer selection, food is really good, and overall the atmosphere is inviting and busy. However, for people in the area I think it's overdone. I don't find myself coming here outside of having people visit. the reason for this could be how obscenely busy it gets on the weekends, especially in the summer/fall when the weather is nice. I came here on a sunday afternoon when the back room was open, and it was a good time!

Fantastic food! Fantastic service. We walked in with a very large group and the staff never missed a beat. They quickly opened up a closed section just for us. Taryn our waitress was master of her domain. She was able to manage our large group leaving us wanting for nothing. Tried several beers all being excellent however I settled into an amazing IPA. Our food came quickly and the burgers were amazing. Every burger cooked exactly as ordered and exceeding my expectations. When in Grand Rapids this Brewing company is a must have during your stay. We will probably have to go back for more because I forgot to take a picture of my burger.

But every other time we have gone in there almost every other bartender sits on their phone and or does everything to avoid the new people at the bar... when it’s not even busy... Three times in a row we have just had to get up and go somewhere else. Sad, we love the food and the beers but the servers need to step it up a notch.

Great place for burgers and fun Michigan cruisine. The beer is excellent and you are able to get a growler to go at a decent price. It can be pretty loud and busy, but it's a great sign that something fun is going on here. It's a good Michigan experience.

What a disappointment! We were exited for this place for the scotch egg appetizer, but the scotch egg was over cooked! The yolk was dry and crumbly, the breading was dark and had that bitter burnt taste, but you could still taste the sage because it was way over-seasoned! We didn't think much of it, just chalked it up to a busy cook. However, when our food arrived, the over-priced sandwich that was on the menu as the Fried Green Tomato BLT had this tiny fried green tomato. The description on the menu makes you think that it was a fried green tomato sandwich, but as you can see from the photo, there was one tiny, little piece of a fried green tomato on it. Also, one of the members of our party ordered the Bat Out of Hell Meatloaf because of the clever name, but was laughing the whole time because we could have gotten it in the freezer section of the grocery store in a red box labeled BANQUET. The kicker, is that when the manager visited our table, he seemed fully aware that the Fried Green Tomato BLT was a subpar sandwich and told us that they had the complaint that the fried green tomato was missing all the time!!!! Don't go here. Ick.

Grand Rapids Brewing Company experience includes a warm historical atmosphere, excellent service, multiple choices of craft brews to your taste, and an amazing selection of foodie quality down to earth menu choices. We enjoyed Mac and Cheese topped with candied jalupenos, and the top notch meatloaf presentation with grilled asparagus garnish. We could not believe there were even grill marks on the slice. Location in the middle of the action with a view of street activity and you will like the moderate prices.

One of the best places we went to while visiting 10 different breweries in Michigan. The staff was fantastic and we took a non-scheduled brewery tour. We enjoyed many flights of beer, so we could sample everything that was currently available. There were about 15 different brews available and they were all very well crafted. Came down with food poisoning about 6 hours after having brunch here Sunday August 26th. Stabbing stomach pains along with other terrible side effect I won't list here. Had to take time off work. Waitress forgot most of the things we asked for. Witnessed her and the bar tender both take a shot while we were there.

I watched some college football here with friends over the weekend. The food was pretty good. I thought the menu was great as it had a good selection. The beer was excellent. I enjoyed multiple of the “silver foam” very good. I would def come back here. The service was great. They had a giant projector with the game on. Very nice.

One of the best brewing companies I've been to. Their ambience is top notch. I really liked playing games while drinking beer. Amazing and wide selection of beers. I also tried their bacon and avacado cheese grilled sandwich and I must say I have never had such a delicious sandwich and fries.

Really great brewery/pub. Lots of good beers on tap and a really large bar and eating area with a cool atmoshpere. We grabbed drinks but didn't eat. The place seemed busy but not too bad. I would go back.

Quick and efficient service. Had a group of 5 this evening. Waitress was friendly and the food was a delightful experience. The Artichoke and Tropical Encrusted Tuna Features this month was a big success, thank you! Only thing I will mention, is that we ordered a Sangria and got a Jack n' Coke instead, but our conversation might have confused the waitress when we inquired about about Tennessee Honey Jack. But, forgivable. We didn't complain nor say anything. The drink was made strong, so, good things. ;) Thanks again, Taren (with a T)! :D We will definitely be coming back. Please keep up the good work! ^_^

This is a tough one. Service was good our server was prompt, courteous, and laughed at our jokes. The 1-800 hotline burger was really good but the preparation was slightly off. The sauce and spread that were to accompany it was done more like fast food in that it was all, and not much of it, clumped in a tiny spot instead or spread about the sandwich. Here is where the bad comes in, their pulled pork nachos. Baring in mind I only had the 2 items, this thing was horrendous. It smelled like a petting zoo and tasted like a soggy sheep was placed in your mouth. I really can't do it justice as to how bad this was. No spice's, no sauce no nothing on this pork. It was simply wet, cooked in stale stagnate water pork. Do not and I say this as strenuously as possible, do not get the nachos!!!! I promise you will regret it.

This place has always been a last resort because it's rarely ever busy. We stop in due to Hopcat being busy and grab some "Dank Fries"... Let me tell you guys, it's more like "The Worlds Okayest Steak Fries". Do not recommend. The adult lemonade was lit though, I'd get that if you have to come here.

My son wanted to come here for an early birthday dinner. Without even knowing we were there for a special reason, they accommodated our large group 13. In addition, our waiter Ryan was on his game and realized my son's bday was Monday so he took his drinks off the tab as well as a beer my dad had accidentally spilled. Between the great food and awesome service, we all had a great evening! We'll be back soon!

We always love visiting this brewery. The servers are extremely efficient and friendly, the beer is great, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the food is very good as well. They play good music, too. The beer list usually has an array of options for the avid craft beer enthusiast. This brewery is a little gem amongst the other very popular breweries here in Grand Rapids and should be on your short list. Bravo!

Tried the beef sandwich that was voted best in Grand Rapids. It was good, but I expected more taste. I previously dined here and had the Wild boar burger, It was a lot better. The homemade fried pickles are amazing and the beers are top notch. The service is also excellent.

Sat down for 15 minutes. Bar had 4 patrons sitting at it. Bartender (pink shirt, adidas hat) seemed more interested in trying to flirt with every waitress and ignored me the entire time. Left without being able to even order a single drink. This is exactly what I envisioned for Grand Rapids Michigan.

Service here is outstanding! Luise was our knowledgeable bartender, and did not disappoint. He showed us the extensive beer menu and let us sample it until we found one we liked. All beer is made in house and not distributed. If you like a good ipa check out the fish ladder.

My wife and I tried out Grand Rapids Brewing Company and really enjoyed it. We are looking forward to returning on a night out or two. We visited on a Wed night and just missed happy hour which ended at 6pm. We sat at the bar and had a couple drinks, an app, an a couple entrees. The bill was $58 for the two of us, so they are not cheap... But the quality was worth the price. I had the Charles Bradley Coffee Stout. It was a smooth, dark, rich sipping beer. Perfect for a slow meal and some conversation. We had the nachos that came with thick and crunchy fresh chips, smoky shredded chicken, and a flavorful cheese sauce. I had the mac n cheese. It was good, but I was missing the zing of a sharp cheddar... The bar atmosphere was chill on a Wed night. They have a hostess and a large area of table seating, two large bars.. One up front and one in back, and a gaming room with a free video arcade, pool, shuffle board, etc. They say the room can be rented for events, which it was on this night. Service was great. Our bartender Roxy was friendly and attentive. I really cant find any negatives.... It was a great experience and we plan to return.

Food is amazing. Beer is amazing. They constantly have different beers on tap. It's the best mug club benefits. Service is hit or miss, sometimes it can take a very long time, but everyone is always extremely kind. They are definitely understaffed at times. Holly is the best! Just ask for her!
