Ate here with co-worker for lunch while in town. Really enjoyed the lunch and the atmosphere, weather was nice so we sat outside on second level. Good service as well. I had a half Mr Big Salad that was fresh and tasty, liked the homemade champaign vinaigrette dressing! My co-worker liked the peanut butter and bacon hamburger. Would definitely go back based on my first visit.

Stopped in for late lunch and the burgers were ok. Not over the top except for the prices. Our server was the only one with tables I guess because it was hard to get refills, extra napkins, etc. We were lucky to be sitting behind the hostess booth that had at least 3 employees standing around chit chatting. Sometimes there was 4, one even sat on the bench reading a book. Very unprofessional and irritating sitting & having to listen to them all. Glad I won't be back!

Great stop off the highway for an excellent selection of craft beers, and great food. Staff is friendly, albeit a bit slow, but the food and beers are worth the wait. The sweet potato fries with cinnamon cream cheese dip are to die for, and just the basic "Buck" house burger is absolutely delicious.

Had an awesome experience here at bucks burgers. Loved my burger, full of flavor. I left the establishment and walked down a few blocks. One of the employees ran out with my hat, an Air Force hat, letting me know hat I had left without it. I was so thankful after having a great experience.

Salads are small portion served in a big bowl; not worth the price. Update: The restaurant sent me a response to this comment saying they do not believe their salads are small, instead of taking constructive criticism. You can see in my photo of the Mr Big salad that there was maybe a cup of lettuce and it was $13. Lettuce is cheap, there’s no need to skimp.

We went in on Sunday evening and had great appetizers, great burgers, and great beer! Dakota was our server and he was AMAZING! If we ever go back we will be requesting him, he was on point and went above and beyond! He found out my husband was retired Navy, thanked him for his service and bought him a beer with his own money! What a great experience!

Went there Saturday August 4 for dinner. Six of us were in the group. This restaurant/bar was chosen by my son who was celebrating this 24th birthday. We got there around 6:30pm and were immediately seated outside on upper deck, which is what we wanted. It was a warm evening,, so we were wanting water and adult beverages to get started. Our waitress was less than friendly and took awhile to get us drinks. She had to navigate the steps to get to upper deck, so probably led to her her low enthusiasm We eventually got appetizers ordered. All six of ordered different burgers and chips which were excellent. A side order of onion rings was also good. We would have easily ordered another round of drinks with quicker service.

Great atmosphere and awesome food. My wife and I, with our 2 year old, had a great experience here. We ate on the deck in a nice sunny day. The Buck Burger is surprising unique for being a standard burger and it tasted full and delicious. My wife had the fish and chips and their tartar sauce is phenomenal as well as their special barbecue sauce for their Buck Burger. They are busy when we went and service was a little slow but we had a friendly server to compensate.

After trying two drinks and 1,&1/2 onion rings, my pallet was completely turned off of this place. Drinks were awful and the onion rings got rid of my appetite for anything else that they would serve. Yuck.

The Buck is burger heaven in downtown St. Joe. Up until this point I always got their beef burgers (cooked well unless told to do otherwise) and they have been consistently great. Today I decided to try the black bean burger, which I was pleasantly surprised to see was cheaper than the beef burger. My best friend ordered onion rings with her meal which she let me try. The burger was DELICIOUS, even better than Red Robin. The white cheddar tasted amazing with it and so did the honey mustard. The beer battered onion ring was buttery and surprisingly mot greasy. I will definitely order again. The waitress was very attentive. She never let my water run out and was quick with anything we needed. I will definitely continue to come here.

Never been one to complain, but food here is awful! My wife ordered a burger well done and it was blood rare. I ordered seared cod it was so dry it was like paste. There also was a werid spic on potatoes.Not a brussel sprouts fan but that was the best thing on the plate. When question the waitress about the burger she said thats the way their burgers are. We never send our food back in restaurants, just because...... We're local and just won't come back. Nor would we recommend.

I ordered one of the features, the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and bread. The bread was horrible, it was soggy due to the mashed potatoes on it. The potatoes where good but the proportion was so small. The meatloaf was good, but once again the proportion was so small. This feature was OK but definitely not worth $14

My girlfriend and I ate here last night. We were seated upstairs and it was so muggy. They need ceiling fans up there. We felt unsteady going up the stairs without an additional hand rail. My turkey wrap was very delicious but did not come with fries. I ordered fries (delicious). My problem with this is the fact my wrap cost me $10 and change and then on top of it I was charged $1.50 for the fries. The cost of the wrap was enough to where the fries should have been free on the plate. They are 'nickel and diming' the customers. It's ridiculous. Make note when placing your order for additional charges.

The beer was good and the service was friendly. However the food was unfortunately overpriced and quite poor. My wife had a $12 burger with a handful of over spiced fries that had been cooked maybe earlier in the day and served cold. Her burger also was pre cooked, sort of warmed up, complete with an unheated white bun that was like a marshmallow. I had a cob like salad, bits of hard bacon and not much to choose from in texture and taste between the chicken and the croutons. Drink the beer and go elsewhere for food.

Being a road warrior I eat at a lot of different restaurants and saw this place and decided to give a try. First of all had a great server named Ali not only friendly but willing to answer any questions. I ordered a burger and fries. BURGER— was amazing it was full of flavor cooked perfectly. I didn’t want to put ketchup on it because I didn’t want to cover up the flavor. FRIES—ok I have had ever combo of fries imagined but these were by far top 3 of my life. They were crispy full of flavor with a hint of sweet. Again I did not want to cover the flavor so no ketchup was needed. Over all 10 star going to make a trip back for round two!!!

My wife is gluten and dairy free so she ordered a burger with no cheese on a gluten free bun. When the food came the burger had cheese melted on it, which is understandable. She asked for a new one and they took it back to the kitchen. When it came back they had cooked a new burger and reused the bun, it still had melted cheese on it. We liked this place the first couple of times we went, but will likely never eat there again now. At least they took it off the check.

My family and I used to enjoy coming to this place for dinner, as they offer gluten free (GF) buns to allow those with medical conditions such as myself to enjoy a good burger. We went to this restaurant on August 23rd, and even though we emphasized to our waiter several times when ordering that I needed a GF bun, he still brought me a burger on a regular bun. It was not until a couple bites into the burger that I realized this could not be a GF bun. After this happened, our waiter informed us that they had in fact, given me a regular bun, and offered a half-hearted apology with a lame excuse about being tired after working so many hours. Within hours after eating those two bites, I became extremely ill, as I always do when eating a gluten item and I have still not recovered fully. To make matters worse, my husband, who is a very tireless advocate for me at every restaurant we eat at, has called the owner twice, leaving messages both times, to speak to him about the need to better educate his staff and stress to them the importance of taking food-related illnesses more seriously. To date, the owner has not returned his call. It is one thing if the Buck did not offer GF alternatives, because then I am just taking my chances, and I accept that. However, they offer a GF alternative for a reason, and they failed to execute a simple request, which has made me extremely sick. In short, we will NEVER eat there again, and I strongly suggest anyone that has a food-related issue to seriously consider whether they will trust this place to get your food order right. I just want this place to take food-related issues/allergies more seriously. I just won't give them the chance to make me sick again. I wish I could give them no stars for this rating/review, but Google apparently requires at least one star before you can post this. The effort on August 23rd by the Buck deserves no stars at all. I stand behind everything I posted here, as it is the honest truth. Potential customers beware.

For a wonderful, small town burger joint, The Buck is an excellent choice. If you love a good burger, then look no further. Between their lovely selection and awesome custom burgers, there is something for everyone. I highly recommend getting the bacon jam on any burger, it's amazing. The menu also features a hefty selection of brews from all over Michigan. If you can decision, take a spin on the wheel of indecision to take the choice away from you. Includes awesome discounts and wonderful drinks.

Great place to eat with a good atmosphere, the reason for the 3* review is that they won't substitute a regular burger for a vegitarian patty without changing the whole order to a build your own burger which ends up being several dollars more expensive. This doesn't make sense. Asked manager for clarification - answer was "That's just the way the owner wants it." Question for the owner - would it hurt to have a small upcharge instead or having to pay 3 or 4 more dollars for the same burger with a vegetarian patty? This current approach seems nonsensical for those who want to enjoy a minor change to their order that is easily implemented.

My friend and I visited from out of town. After we left out of Plank's Tavern due to not being waited on or even acknowledged for the better part of 15 minutes...our night was made so much better by the food, atmosphere, and most importantly the wonderful service from the staff at The Buck...they truly work as a team to ensure customers receive amazing servive and a delightful experience. We enjoyed meeting the charismatic owner and our server Samantha was a sweet angel who delivered top-notch service. When you bring a friend from out of town and want to give them a nice experience of the real St. Joe Vibes...head to the Buck. 5 stars!!

Ugh, I just can't stand this place. In the past, I've been here a few times and service and food was always mediocre. But LAST NIGHT... ugh. So I am really sick with pneumonia, and my husband thought a nice date night to get my mood lifted and me out of the house would help, so our goal was to just take a drive around St. Joe, maybe park at the beach or the bluff and people watch, and order some food to-go to eat in the car. He chose The Buck for their Salmon BLT... we first tried to call to place the to-go order, and nobody ever picked up, and their voicemail is full. So we just showed up -- but when my husband went in, the bartender (i dont know why he went to the bar, i stayed in the car) did NOT greet him and was just cold. My husband brushed it off, placed his order, and came outside to sit with me for the 10 minute wait time. When he went back inside, the bartender slammed the to-go box on the counter, and turned around and walked away without a word. Where is the customer service at ALL? I'm a local. I love my town. But this restaurant is an EMBARASSMENT for me because if we got treated like this, how are our tourists being treated? As I said, I actually haven't really had a positive experience before, but that was a couple years ago, I would have hoped this place improved. Thank you for your unkind service. I hope you all look at this review and consider how you treat customers.

If I could give this place no stars I would. I have been suffering, I mean really suffering, for two days with food poisening from this place. Make no mistake-i hadn't eaten anything else that day, so it absolutely was from The Buck- I'm thinking the Scottish egg that I had because it was the only thing I had that nobody else did. I will give it to them, the atmosphere was nice, and so was our server. But the food want even that good; atleast it could have been tasty going down, because it sure hasn't been pleasant coming up.

DO NOT EAT HERE if you have any special dietary needs or need to modify anything on the menu. Awful experience. I specifically asked the waitress if they could replace the chicken that came on my salad since I don’t eat poultry. She said “sure, no problem”, then when my salad came out with the chicken I don’t eat, she didn’t know it was chicken. “Oh, does that come with chicken?” I should have sent it back then, but quietly proceeded to pick all the chicken out of my salad not wanting to be rude. To my disgust, she not only charged me an up-charge for my replacement, along with the regular charge, she also proceeded to argue with me about what I ordered and how I should order next time. One of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Not always easy being a vegetarian and I don’t like to modify orders and be difficult, but once in a while I like to eat something other than the standard off the menu vegetarian dish. Never again would eat here. She not only didn’t get my order right, she didn’t show any empathy and was outright rude. Don’t know how she can survive as a waitress.

First time visiting the Buck. We are local and was given a gift card to go to the buck. Food was good, service was good. Our server, Joe was nice and helpful. Staff was dressed very casual. All with their Buck t shirts, and most had on some type of sweatshirt, and jeans, some with holes in them. Asked out of curiosity, who was the manager and honestly, he looked like a server. He didnt check on us at all like most managers do. Noticed he was more concerned about the "regulars" who were there. Also noticed the kitchen staff wasn't wearing hair nets or beard guards not sure on gloves. But over all a 2.5 out 5.

Drove 25 miles to try this place. Their posted hours said they were going to be open until 9pm yet when we showed up at 8pm the door was locked. The worst part was there was customers inside eating and drinking. I called letting them know we wanted to try the place. They said they were closed. What a let down. We decided to go to Silver Beach pizza instead which was open and happily took our business.

Stopped in for a late lunch, so we missed the crowd and were seated right away. I ordered the Brussels sprouts as an appetizer; they were really greasy. I had the Harvest burger as my entree; it was cooked perfectly, and was really good. The kids' burger was also good. I would go back, but only if there is no line.

Go after 7:30 to avoid the crowd. Food is slow with a large group, order ahead. My favorite is the Ahi Tuna appetizer. Beer is king, the bartenders know the product and will make good reccomendations. Lots of "co ktails" on tap, worth a try. My favorite place in town.

Worst service ever. It took 10 minutes at least before a server came to our table. Manager walked by many times and never asked if we had been waited on yet. When we got our drinks my husband's drink had a dead fruit fly in it. When she brought back a "new" drink there was no foam on it like the last drink and I think they just scraped off the foam and sent it back. Our server never asked how our food or drinks were. She chatted up other tables around but never asked us anything. So sad we had heard good things about this place but will not return.

Buck's is a downtown St. Joseph restaurant that is a local favorite. With over 70 beers available you will be sure to find something that you'll like. Buck's is known for their good selection of burgers but I would also recommend some of their salads and sandwiches. There is a very nice two-story patio outside that is perfect for a group of friends on a warm summer evening. Trivia nights are Monday evenings.

This place is a great Burger bar. They offer unique burgers along with build your own burgers. The service was good the atmosphere was nice. Sports bar, with many tvs playing games. Would recommend this place to anyone.

Service was great. Salad was good but everything else was over cooked. Salmon BLT the fish was dry and the bacon was burnt. Went back today for a beer & a app the chicken bites we're so over done & dry. Too bad this is a nice place but need some kitchen help.

I took my dad there for fathers day. At first the service was slow, we waited almost a half hour before someone waited on us. My dad ordered a hamburger and requested it well done. It came blood rare in the center and the fries were greasy. He sent it back three times. The sandwich returned still blood rare, only now it was cold. We were getting tired of waiting so my father went ahead and ate the burger. BIG MISTAKE. After several hours dad started to feeling ill. Late in the evening dad finally became nauseous enough that he threw up the burger. I will never eat or take anybody else there unless I want to make them sick. My meal was not much better. There is something I noticed about the other reviews on this site. The strong approvals are only one to two sentences. However, the reports of the POOR food quality are several paragraphs long. I would postulate that when people have to say something good, they don't have much to say. The positive reviews appear to be staged. Who would have the time to write details about the food they eat? They always use the same type of words, such as "Amazing." The owner Ken Kozminski pats himself on the back in one of the reviews by saying "WOW. Great seafood."

Good burgers and brew. Very reasonably priced, and expect a wait on nice days. Kid friendly. Even had some live music upstairs the day we were there. Cool inside and clean bathrooms. A great place for a burger and beer.

I've been here twice. Both times I was very impressed with the burgers. My first visit I ordered the Peanut Butter & Bacon Jam Burger. Utterly amazing. I enjoy a messy and unique burger so this one was perfect. Not to mention ist amazing assortment of flavors. Second trip I ordered the Thornburger, added the fried egg on top. Equally great tasting burger. Service was decent. The fries are great, they have a cinnamin seasoning I think.

Been here twice, first time the service was incredibly slow. The second time we arrived at 8:18 and were told we couldn't be seated or served because their kitchen closed at 9:00???

The Buck is AMAZING! My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time and from start to finish our experiences were great! From the friendly hostesses to our awesome server, AJ, we had a blast! I have to say that I even met a number of friendly customers that added to making our experience PERFECT!

Good food. However.... The staff need to watch the locker room talk. We were seated right by the kitchen and we could hear employees swearing back and forth, having what should be private conversations in front of us customers in ear shot. Other than that our waitress was on point.

Im going to give them 5 stars because Ive been there many times and I often go back. The problem this time was the pork nachos. It was a greasy mess. BUT simply don't get them. Instead, get my regular salmon sandwich and a fine IPA from their EXTENSIVE list of crafty brews on draft.

I’m from the Detroit area and I drive to St. Joes to photograph the lighthouse. I found myself at Bucks Burgers for dinner and had a wonderful time. The food and service were both great. The next day after 6 hours of photographing, I again went to Buck burgers for lunch and once again the service and food were great. Thank you Adrienne for everything.
