Have been going here for many years, including when they were at their original location. Their Kraut is still one of the best around, and I still enjoy their soups, but many other dishes have gone down hill. The staff are also not even close to being as friendly, and customer oriented, as they used to be.

We were excited to try this place. There was no cook. The waitress had to cook our food. Then they were out of corned beef hash and the waitress told us that's ok because it will be too much food anyway.

This is a great little hidden gem. The food is pretty good, portions are huge, prices are fantastic. You can tell their patrons visit often as many are on a First name basis. This was my first time eating here, and I still want more pierogies.

we walked in at 2 oclock on a sunday my boyfriend went in to ask if they were still open and they said yes until 3. so we walked in with our 2 young children and began sitting down then we were told sorry were actually closed by the guy in the kitchen. tell me why the elderly couple that was in there was just beginong to order but they refused to take our buisness. this place is very rude and from what i can tell not kid friendly. if you have small children stay away.

Decent place to go for a cheap eat in a dive diner with Good food. Service is always decent and the food is always good when you start ordering more of the Polish side of the menu. Some things I would like to mention that need to be addressed... 1: the menus, please update them.. just do it. 2: update the specials menu to properly reflect the days the specials. 3: the booths don't fit fat people, and there are plenty of them

Quaint basement kitchen feel with friendly waitress. But not worth the drive to south Lyon. Food took more than 20 min to arrive after prompting and then was obviously cooked too quickly as was doughy and burnt.

Best place for polish food. Pierogies are made from scratch aged so are the potato pancakes and stuffed cabbage . I also love, love the homemade soups, especially the dill pickle soup and mushroom soups. Broasted chicken is also awesome. Terry and Lila have a gen of a restaurant here hidden in South Lyon. I highly recommend going there and tasting the homemade food for yourself. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu!. Staff is also excellent and tpu are treated like family.

I give them credit for having great prices but you also get what you pay for food wise. I tried Alexander's a few months ago and got food poisoning. I gave Alexander's another shot last night and my food was cold and the green beans were very noticeably canned as well as the mashed potatoes being very chunky.. very disappointed but again you get what you pay for..

If you read the other reviews you’ll notice that the only things people seem to like about this restaurant are the dill pickle soup, the Polish cuisine, and the cheap breakfasts. And that’s about all my family like about it as well. They often close early because they just don’t have the customers. But they seem to do fine for breakfast and lunch. I think the owners should limit it to a breakfast/lunch establishment and simply feature their Polish dishes on a lunch menu that offers smaller portions.

I always like trying to find good Polish food. Decided to give this place a try based on the reviews. And I always judge a Polish restaurant first by its pierogies. Unfortunately, they were cooked perfectly on the outside and looked awesome, but the dough was very pasty and pretty flavorless. I won't be back. Extra star for the service.

I ordered pierogies, a side of kraut, and a sample of the dill pickle soup because I've heard so many great things about it. My husband ordered the patty melt and fries. We enjoyed Everything! It all seemed hand-made from scratch. The dining room is very small and needs a little TLC (rips in the seat cushions, areas on the wall that need paint touch-up), but it was clean.

This place is tiny, and frankly the dining area is showing a lot of wear and tear. But the food was very good. We ordered the Polish combo plates, and it was a huge amount of food. The kielbasa was just OK, but the stuffed cabbage was just like my grandmother's. The mashed potatoes were obviously made from scratch. The perogi were huge and delicious. If you want authentic Polish food, this is the right place to go.

I really wish i could give this place negative five. weve gone here a few times andeach time the service has been terrible. The first time the waitress was good at first ..but wjen i asked her for a drink or for more food, she groaned and sighed like i was burdoning her. The second time we had the same waitress and its almost as if she got more rude and more tired of her job ..being disrespectful between her body language and her tone of voice. This last time, i had asked for something well done and the lady looks at me and sais "yeah we get it" because i had explained to her that the last time the eggs were mushy and not done all the way . and this has happened two out of the three recent times i have been there . even after her saying that she gets it in her disrespectful tone, the eggs came back not cooked and i had to ask her for new ones. Not to mention i ordered something and she gave me something completely opposite and more expensive and MADE me pay for it . i would never reccomend this place to anyone and it is probably a good chance i wont return there until there is better staff and more respectful and diligent people working there.

The food was fine but the service started out horribly. This was our 3rd Sunday here and our waitress, if you can call her that, brought us our coffee and then never returned to the table to take our order. I got her attention and told her that we were ready to order; she told us to, "Hang on a sec" She still never returned to take our order. Luckily one of the other waitresses noticed this and took our order. We've had this problem before with this particular waitress and it's obvious that other customers have too -- it's shocking that she's still there. If you want good service on Sunday, ask for Suzy or Annie.

The best thing about the place is the coffee. The wait staff had one table. Us which was 2 people. My wifes order was wrong. An egg ordered over medium was cooked so well that it looked like it stayed on the grill for 10 minutes. The cornedbeef hash that she ordered wasn' t there. It was hashbrowns. The waitress brought out the cornedbeef hash when my wife had finished eating her egg. (She are it because she was hungry) The toast had about 4 good sized fruit flies crawling in it. Needless to say they were not touched. The kielbasa and sourkraut was the worst i have had. The waitress took forever getting our bill to us. She would rather socialize than work. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place !!!! PS My rating is negitive 0.

I really enjoyed our first trip to Alexander's! I had the Polish sampler plate and it was good overall. Golumpki was very good. Sauerkraut wasn't sour enough for me. Kielbasa was mundane but decent. The cheese and the potato pierogi's were phenomenal, the sauerkraut pierogi lacked (see sauerkraut portion of review). The mashed potatoes and gravy were really good! Overall I was very happy with the food and wonderful service!
