This Restaurant is included in the category of Indian restaurant.
Great spot in the ever-growing Seaport District. They changed their approach to their menu after they had a facilities issue that caused a redo of the entire store. I much prefer the current format! Good portions, great food, and the owner/manager is always extremely friendly and helpful. Give it a shot, you'll be glad you did.
Neat little build-as-you-go type Indian food place in seaport!
Loved it. Much like Indian Chipotle. Also, they have freshly made tea (milk based) and coffee.
Excellent Indian food modernized. The location is perfect for a grab and go. It does have seating but is limited. The people working there are very friendly and patient. When it comes to the food they have expanded the options recently to add more street food. One can customize the spice levels and a ton of options for vegetarians! Pics below is the new menu. I think it's get reasonably priced but only thing is a couple of items might be too small in serving size to be considered lunch.
Delicious, fresh, and fast! I'll definitely be back
Food taste is very good ...
Awesome and authentic Indian food.
I loved the place, food, and the super friendly staff! Best place ever. Will be revisiting several times :)
Food was edible but not particularly tasty. Chai was not good either. But for a quick bite, it's decent.
Quick service, good selection, very big portion (especially for lunch), but left me wanting stronger flavors. Most of the dish tasted the same. Drink options were pricey and limited.
I won't go here again..I had asked for a Vegetarian Rice Bowl with Chickpea and Potatoes..while eating, I got a chicken piece in it...It might look just normal to some..but to a Vegetarian this is not acceptable..you should have proper segregation..
Fast casual Indian with fresh, flavorful ingredients. Brightly lit interior, colorful and cheerful decor, extremely clean, environmentally conscious (compostable containers, and they encourage recycling). Seating is a little limited. We stopped by for a quick dinner and ordered a classic rice bowl minus onions, a roti wrap with chicken and aloo (potato), and a salad bowl with chicken and chana (chickpeas). The masala sauce for the classic rice bowl was very mildly spicy but tolerable for our two children (3 and 6 years of age), and they ate most of the the base ingredients, also a little rice. We loaded up most of the available choices for the wrap and salad bowl (vindaloo sauce, no red onions), which were both delicious. The green chili peppers were quite spicy (more than the vindaloo sauce), which we appreciated. Mango lassi was delicious, not overly sweet. Mint chutney was flavorful and thinner than some other places, mango chutney was actually a little similar to tamarind sauce. Portions were extremely generous, likely could make two lunch meals out of one order unless you have the opportunity to take a little nap afterwards. Staff and owner were friendly and extremely gracious, even after a mishap on the part of our son (the younger one). Don't forget to squeeze the horn by the door ("horn please")!
Awesome authentic indian food
Great customer service. I lost an item and they went our of their way to actually mail it to me with no charge. The food is also great!!
Fast and friendly Indian lunch spot.
Delicious food and great customer service
The closest you can get, when it comes to Indian food, loved it thoroughly
Great people - ran out of some good food
The chipotle of Indian food. Great service, bland flavor profile. May improve overtime.
Very crowded but very authentic and really reasonable price wise!
Surprisingly good fast Indian. Flavours are on point.
Excellent food
Clever name! Nice vibe with friendly staff. Unfortunately the food did not taste Indian and was not filling. I'll be eating at Chipotle that's next door.
Good food. Quick service. Very small; not much room to eat.
Good for a quick bite.
Food is not close to Indian flavor. It is kind of blend in taste. One item I did like qas Samosa chat. But regular lunch options are not much. They have same option all the time. It would be much better if they can introduce rotating menu items, or week special items kind of things. And of course first need to bring back the real Indian flavor in the food.
Excellent concept... About time for Indian style make your own instant food chains to come up. Really enjoyed the tasty food.
The Best Indian food in Boston. Guys, haven't tried this? You are missing something great!! Loved it :D
Really delicious food with amazing vegan options and very courteous staff!!! I would really try other vegan meals too!! And yes samosas here is vegan
Great spot for a quick and flavorful lunch.
The ginger cardamom chai is so so good. But the real winner is the iced Madras coffee!! I haven't seen any other establishment serve it. The flavor is spot on and has the perfect blend of coffee, milk and sugar.
Amazing tasty food that caters to your taste!!...Friendly welcoming staff!!..Highly recommended to anyone and well worth a visit as well as reasonably priced!!
Great Indian food, quick and reasonably priced. The owner Gopi talked to us a bit and seems SUPER passionate about making food he's proud of. The mango lassi was easily the thickest (and most mango-y) I've ever had and the chai tea was great (and UNSWEETENED - so, you know, actually tastes like tea). Best of luck to you, Gopi!
Tasty food, good sauces, and my order has always been ready when I get there. Be advised, their vindaloo sauce is really spicy - - it creeps back up on you later.
The only reason I'm giving a 4 is because I think it's a bit pricey for Indian food but i understand that it is due to location. The food is great. Basmati and chicken masala with potatoes and chickpeas is always a go to.
Rice was overcooked. Lamb was tasteless without any sauce. Ok food.
They have awesome samosa. Also its baked and healthy
Great eating experience.. the roll was delicious and loved the quick service.. definately will be back for more..
Very busy at lunchtime and queued for 15mins but worth the wait. Food was good and samosa though expensive for the relatively small size was yummy. Excellent veggie options though was concerned of cross contamination with meat dishes (dirty gloves) hence -1 star.
Awesome food !!! Great Indian taste...Lucky came across an Indian restaurant near my house in Boston..You will love it for sure
Soup is awesome and food is ok
I ate here on 7-15-2017. The location is small but the flavors are not. Seating for about 12 people, but most that came in while I sat and ate were to go orders. I had the lamb and potato rice bowl, masala sauce, onion, carrot with the diced chili, and 2 samosa. I highly recommend this establishment, great people, great service and no long "waterfront" wait.
Refreshing than chipotle
Fresh
Awesome Indianized lunch with perfect blend of tangy/sweet/sour tastes Definitely you should try Madras Cold Coffee
Good concept but rice was very chewy.
Loved the food. It's Chipotle of India. Serve great amount. You will surely be full in amount and taste, if you take the right ingredients.
Food was bland
Great food ...please come to SFO ...
Nice Indian fusion cuisine! I like the samosa chat! It doesn’t exactly taste like the one I had back home in india but it is tasty! And their chai is amazing!
Rarely have I given such a poor rating for an Indian food joint. I’ve just been here once after reading some great reviews but was a pretty underwhelming experience. I ordered the rice bowl with paneer and the tikkaway sauce. The paneer had literally no flavor, it seemed like thawed paneer cubes were added to the bowl with the tikkaway sauce which was also lacking in flavor. All I could taste in the bowl were red onions, the food was that flavorless. The samosa chaat was decent though but they just gave one samosa and you need to pay extra to get another one. For the price at other similar places you usually get 2 samosas.
Great service and fresh healthy food!
Decent (and only) indian joint in sea port
Love the falafel here.. best I ever had..
Amazing place. The food is so delicious and the experience was super nice. The owner actually walked us through the entire menu and selection process. Highly recommend checking this place out. Also ask to try their sauces before you pick one, the owner actually recommended that to us.
Great food, especially samosas
Good to get Indian Masala flavor. Provides To Go as well as dine in Service. It serves Rice Bowl with Brown and Basmati Rice and Wrap. Veg/ Non Veg Options are Dum Potatoes, Chick Peas Curry, Chicken, Lamb. It serves different Sauces like Vindaloo, Tikkaway, Madras etc., Stuffed Potato Samosas with Mint & Tamrind chutneys are special. And the Masala Tea to refresh minds. Staff are friendly.
Fast food with Indian food made for American taste
Best indian food
I loved the food and really enjoyed the owner. Her sauces are heavenly.
Amazing!!!
Great location, great service, Terrible Food
Pretty bad. I got food poisoning, made me and my brother extremely sick the next day. In there, I got a very strange vibe from the lady serving, it just seemed off and sketchy, and yes I did end up getting food poisoning.
In a word..."AMAZING!"
Chipotle type concept is refreshing to see with Indian food. Always busy with the Seaport work crowd buy moves quickly. Staff is very nice. Only 4 stars instead of 5 because its a small space where it's tough to sit and enjoy your food. Best to grab and go sit outside. It's chaotic when busy. Food taste is dependent on your mix of items and sauces but overall it's good. Samosas taste great but pricey for just 1.
The worst gentrified Indian food ever but the chai was delicious and I would definitely go back for more of the chai
To my taste it needs salt and have to ask for extra sauce all the time. With those, it's good.
Great flavorful food, friendly staff .. quick service and clean interiors ..
This is probably my first Google review ever but I had to for Tikkaway. This is my second visit at this place and I am in love! The staff is friendly amd very attentive to your need. For someone who has managed restaurant for years, I can tell the owner (Gobi) is up to something extraordinary with his philosophy about food and the way it should make you feel after you eat. It's a small little place and the food tastes like you were eating from a fancier/ pricier Indian restaurant. Their mango smoothie is a MUST try.
First time here and the food was great, friendly staff and everything is nice and clean. Skip Chipotle next time and try some delish Indian food :)
Friendly staff, like their rice bowl option. Will be more excited if they offer sautéed paneer and tofu options.
Nice place
Great fast food. Want to go back to get the iced coffee.
The food menu is unique and it's catered similar to Chipotle style. Pick your veggies or meat with Roti or bowl. The flavor of the food is good.
A great Indian fast casual cafe! Great selection and helpful service. The food was great and so were the portion sizes, especially for the price. I got the classic bowl with Vindaloo sauce and it was delicious and the veggies they include made it a healthier version of restaurant Indian food. Would recommend to anyone, especially if you are looking for something new!
Great food, but not a good value at all.
I was pleasantly surprised to run into this place. They have such an innovative concept with Indian food you can customize, the taste of the sauces, Naan, and sides was better than at most Indian places I've been to in Boston and Cambridge. Highly recommend to do take out and eat at the waterside in summer. I definitely will return!
Food was very tasty and authentic. Friendly service. Nice environment
I come here at least once a week and I always leave full. The flavor profile ranges from mild to strong. If you do not know anything about their menu, fear not! They have someone who can help you with what you need to know! I do recommend the rice bowl with lamb and masala sauce. :)
Can't express how much I love this place. Favorite fast casual spot in the Seaport district. Very reasonably priced, incredibly healthy with all the vegetable options while still being incredibly flavorful with all the curries and protein options. A wide array of options to make it your way, spicy or mild, whatever you like! And beyond the standard rice bowl there are plenty of other main dish options as well as appetizers/sides. The Mango Lassi is amazing! Seriously if you are looking for a filling healthy meal that won't break the budget, look no further. Not to mention the staff and owner are always a delight!! EDIT: For context, I have consistently gone to this Tikkaway location since their opening when I buy lunches at work.
Good indian food
Love the fresh food and fast service. The drinks here are also really good, like the iced chai. Make sure you sample all the sauces, they're delicious.
Taste is OK OK, nice staff
Very nice and fun!
Food is really good. A must try place.
Nice place to have Desi flavours on seaport boston..
Love the selection ! Helpful people , food tastes fresh and nice ! Would highly recommend
Not the best Indian food I've had but it's convenient
Good food, it's more of a fast food take out. So "Tikkaway" is so humorously appropriate :) I enjoyed the lamb vindaloo with an Australian ginger beer. Generous portions, went away satisfied.
I love the food here and the staff is very friendly. Best Korma I've had in Boston. Big portions for the price. It's quick-serve style, so it's a great place to grab a bite on the run or to take home.
Indian version of chipotle. Yummy !
Delicious, real food with "lots of colours" and very friendly staff. Went as many times as I could while at BCEC.
Similar to another local chain called Chutneys. Tikkaway manages to be completely flavorless. The owner tasted like a sponge and the chicken was overcooked. The only redeeming quality is the reasonable price. Probably won't go back. Don't waste your time. Just go to Chutneys instead.
It's like Chipotle for Indian food. Delicious, fast and fresh.
We call this place one of the “Chipotles” - along with the Mediterranean place next door and the Chipotle on the other side, it’s a choose-your-base-and-then-protein-and-then-toppings counter serve restaurant. This one is very tasty with high quality, healthy ingredients.
Good place to have lunch if you work in seaport district. Fast service and flexible options. Try masala curry unless you know how spicy all other curries are.
The owner is very friendly! Very good food at a very good price. I highly recommend this restaurant! You will walk away very satisfied every time.
