To this day this business receives a rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 and the rating has been based on 717 reviews.
As you can read, the average of ratings is virtually the top, and it is founded on a very high number of opinions, so we can conclude that the assessment is quite faithful. If many people have bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually stop to place tatings when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...
This Restaurant corresponds to the category of Fast food restaurant.
Awesome! But no fake meat options
One of my favorite foods in Boston. Healthy, simple, quick and delicious. The prices are great and it's a nice ambiance. Their cucumber salad is one of the best I've ever had!
Affordable prices. Healthy selection for everyone and great idea of robot implementation. Will visit more often
I love eating here. Its cheap, fast and tasty. They got some new stuff now so go check it out.
The robot cooking my food in the back didn’t cook the asparagus all the way through in my Cavatappi Pesto bowl. The tomatoes were also way too cold for a hot pasta bowl it is uncomfortable and unnatural. Don’t eat here
Great price for warm bowls. I love the hibiscus ginger tea! No straws, so bring your own (metal preferred).
Food was ok. Some of it wasn't hot enough.. and though it was cooked by robots, a person finishes off the bowl for you. The hibiscus tea was super bitter though. Staff were friendly enough but for somewhere that you order off a kiosk and robot chefs exist.. more smiles and a friendly interaction would have given more stars.
Healthy, fresh, and packed with so much flavor! It is also pretty cool to see the potential future of grab and go food. Definitely worth a try.
Make sure you ask for the sauces on the side, if not they smother your food with it making it almost a soup. I got the green goddess bowl and all the components sounded delicious but covered in literally about 1 full cup of sauce it was pretty gross. Great ingredients and concept, somewhat sloppy execution.
Really holds up to the lunch rush and reasonably priced
The food is really good, and definitely a unique experience!
Every bowl is delicious. Can't go wrong. And great value for the price too!
Fun to see robots in action and good choice of pre selected bowls to choose from
Food was very good, prices were reasonable, but don't come here for a "robot restaurant" experience, it's really just a gimmick that any of the technology does much apart from warming and mixing your rice bowl base. Humans still prep the ingredients, and put the remainder of the ingredients on at the end, it amounts to: humans -> cement mixer - > humans to actually create your lunch.
Amazing to say the least. The food was great with lots of ethnic dishes plus vegan options as well. Everything in the restaurant is streamlined as well. You pick, customize, and order you meal on one of many displays which is very fast and convenient. The food comes out very fast as well. We we're in a rush but the food came out within 5-8 minutes, which apparently took much longer than it was supposed to. The owners actually gave us coupons because of this. Overall the experience was great and if you go there definitely get the Indian dish.
Fresh ingredients, reasonable prices, and a friendly staff combined to turn this robo-restaurant from a novelty to a lunch staple. I haven't tried a bowl I haven't enjoyed, but the Korean bowl is by far my personal favorite. My only gripe would be the lack of drink options - the tea/lemonade/juice offerings are easily the weakest link in the restaurant.
Fresh tasty food, reasonable price!
SO GOOD!
Good food, good prices for the city. Tasty and multiple options to combine based on your needs/taste. One of the best places to get decent lunch in the city
Good tasty selection. Kinda cool how they mix it. Lot of flavor. Good price. Big serving. Basically 2 meals for $8
Great taste, healthy, cozy place and good service.
An original experience with amazing food.
This place has been great from the start. Good food, friendly people. Especially Shawna, Omar, Sai, and Marcos (those are the names I remember anyways). The best dish is the Indian with a soft boiled egg. Cut up the egg and stir everything together for the best experience.
Everything I’ve had here is amazing!
A novel innovative idea where your food is prepared by robot. The food was also delicious.
I've only worked on this block for a week, but I've eaten at Spyce thrice. The food is not only reasonably priced, but it is absolutely delicious. Try the Korean Bowl (add an egg), and watch in amazement as the robot cooks in front of your eyes before you are presented your meal with a personalized label. Upbeat music and a friendly staff further enhance the experience. I wish I could eat 3 meals per day here.
Great concept! Food and flavors are really interesting and healthful. It is also a very good price- $10 for a beverage+meal. Their order taking system and food delivery are one of the most error-proof so far. Can't wait to see it become a franchise!
Very nice place, good prices and good flavor.
It's decent. The food is decent, it's a relatively small restaurant. I wouldn't recommend the Thanksgiving dish to anyone. The other dishes are good though
Tasty and healthy food at an affordable price!
Great salads, very tasty and healthy. Here you will not be asked for 20% tip for tossing a salad from the fridge. If I had one close to my place i would go there every day.
Good prices, good food, feels healthy, had a first date here many many months ago and still has a special place in my heart.
My wife and I went twice in our two day stay in Boston it was so good and affordable! Great flavors and we liked that there were gluten free options. We had the Indian, Lebanese, and Roma bowls over the two days and they were all great. Super quick too.
The place offers a variety of options to eat healthy. The thing that I found unique is that food is custom made by machines. You order on a touchscreen tablet and the ingredients are all dispensed into a recyclable food bowl. One funny thing, however is that you can only use the restroom if you enter a code that would be printed on your bill.
The food is good but there aren't many drink options.
I had the Roma bowl and can't say there was much chicken in it, plenty of noodles. People I was with did like the meal.
What a fantastic restaurant. I went back 3 times while there for a 3 day conference. Awesome robotic kitchen, amazing customer service and the bowls were super tasty. I'm in love with this place.
The bar is not to bad but also nothing special
This place is very neat and they do offer different types of bowl to eat with different base and sauces. I have attached the menu with the post if you want to check what are the items available here. The only issue I had with the food is even though it was tasty it was very less in quantity. And I had to eat something else as I was still hungry after the whole bowl.
Great food at a reasonable price! This place is the future of fast food.
The place serves large dishes and for reasonable pricing. super friendly staff. Keep up the good work.
Good food at a good price. Interested concept with the automated food prep & limited staff. I got the pasta bowl and enjoyed it.
Amazing food and unbeatable amount/price ratio. They now offer salad-grain bases - make sure to try.
Delicious food made quickly.... By a robot. A show and a meal. The folks over at Spyce really know what they are doing!
Excellent food, chipper than others restaurants
Seriously awesome food! Limited options, there are less than 10 items available on the menu. All the food is prepared by robots and served by a human. And worth every penny too! I had the regular Indian dish with chicken and it only cost me $8. And super delicious too! Definitely coming back!
Great option offering a great value in Boston.
Amazing place! Nice and clean inside, plenty of tasty & healthy food in your bowl, that gets ready in a few minutes! Good luck guys!
The experience is amazing, it’s incredible to see the process all automated. The food was pretty good too, I got the Korean bowl and I found it on the salty side. I’d say it’s best to have less sauce or sauce on the side to adjust to your taste.
when we arrived on a Monday at noon the line was OUT THE DOOR. clearly its a very popular place. It took us about 15min of standing in line to reach a kiosk where we could place our order and our five meals came out about ten minutes later. There was no seating available, which was a disappointment, but considering the crazy popularity I don't know how they could have reasonable planned for it. The food was outstanding! Delicious! loved it! I will happily come back to get some more of the Thai bowl. The iced tea was good too, but I was pretty impressed with the thai bowl. the service was ... mostly absent. there are people milling around but there is virtually no interaction with anyone. I loved the "robots" that prepared the food. they did a great job!
This is the go to place for fresh bowls of goodness in the area. They have machines which makes these bowls, quite satisfying watching them work. Priced reasonable and a big helping as well. I've tried the Lebanese and Korean bowld and they were both just great! Do not miss the Korean bowl, it's definitely among the best bowls I've had. The delicious seasoned sauce that comes is just too good.
Average food in a bowl that can be found at many fast casual places but made by "machines" (there are still plenty of human employees). The novelty of the machines wears off after the first visit and the food is nothing spectacular. Overall, it might be worth visiting once because the operation is interesting, but there's nothing convincing me to come back regularly.
On a tour of Boston and looking for gluten free options - this place was amazing!
The staff was nice and helpful. It was hard to see what made the 'Korean' Bowl Korean and even harder to taste. The Thai was neither up my alley taste-wise. Price was reasonable and it was cool to watch the process. Could use more seating, but seeing where it's located, it makes sense, and the food is packaged so you can take it with you.
Pretty cool experience but very limited sitting space
A delicious, Chipotle-sized, internationally-inspired lunch for less than $10? Prepared by a robot and plated by the friendliest service in Downtown Boston? Yes and yes. Spyce is the brain-child of some MIT graduates and a chef: First, order on a tablet. Next, watch a hopper-fed robot dump ingredients into a hot, rotating bowl that mixes them together, and then has toppings added by employees who call you by name. Mike, the manager, and (I think) one of the MIT graduates, wears a ponytail, a jacket and jeans, and is easy to spot working alongside his employees or talking to patrons. Ask him about the robot, the business, or anything. He's a good sport. The big draws are the prices (bowls with no extras are about $8 including tax), the service (the staff have good memories and recognize repeat customers), and (of course) the food.
Love it! This is what we need. Young people who are interested in taking matters to the next level. MIT students developed this unique concept where not only food is delicious, not at all expensive, and everything is recyclable, either for compose, or recycling only. No trash!!! Come to Washington St in Boston guys. Let's do something for our planet!
Food is fresh and taste so good. Next gen restaurant! Everything is automatic!
Great idea, great food. Keep at it!
Pretty cool spot. The food was really good but it was hard to make alterations to some of the dishes, which was a bummer. There are about six basic dishes to start with from which you can change the base (grain or salad), protein, and dressings. I might go back. Staff was very friendly and it was neat to watch the robots prepare my food.
Great atmosphere, the staff was friendly and engaged. Asked how the meal was before the customers left, the food was very good, in both presentation, flavor, and amount. The robot angle is very cool.
This was different and new.. you type in your order and the machine cooks it up for you...
A true welcome to the future experience. I had no clue something like this excited. I loved the options, something for everyone. The place was packed but the service was quick. Great place for a quick meal, well seasoned food and decently priced for lunch!
Quick, great variety and awesome prices. Would definitely return.
Delicious food. Can't beat the price. Wished I lived closer so I could have Spyce more often!
fast and healthy I didn't order the tastiest but I hear the Indian one is good.
This is the future y'all. Varied selection to customize and prices that are more than fair (start at $7.50 a bowl). The Korean and Roma bowls were hits. The Thai one lacked a little flavor (expected more of a sauce from a curry dish, this was too dry). Overall, good lunch option and so much fun to see the bots at work.
Pretty good bowl. Reasonable price. Meal comes quick and you can see it being made.
Great experience looking at your food being cooked without any person.
Good, healthy food. Fast and easy ordering using the computer system. Really cool to see the food cooked by robots.
Affordable, quick, environmentally-conscious service with several customizable options
This was a great place to stop in for a quick bite. It was entertaining to watch the food being made and prepared. One of my friends that I was traveling with has allergies to many common ingredients and here she was able to select meals that were tailored to her and her needs. This process ensured that everyone enjoyed their meal! The restaurant itself has a lovely causal atmosphere and it is a wonderful place to stop in for a quick meal. The meals are quite large and very filling, definitely value for your money. Also there are not many place were you can say you watched your food being prepared by a robot!
Very cool fully automated ordering system. Variety of healthy bowl based meals to choose from.
went to Spyce and good quality food for the money and you get to see some of the robotic prep of the food. 4 stars only because it's a little bit on the loud side with all the commotion.
You get a decent portions of good grain bowls, for a good price. The robotic cooking system is awesome to watch as you wait, though you wont be waiting long, even during the lunch rush. They move people through very efficiently.
My experience was that the food came out hot and delicious. The flavor of the bowls are amazing and while they are made by robots, it tastes just as if it were prepared by a chef. The ordering process was streamlined and efficient. Despite going at a busy time, the food came out very quickly and still hot. I am excited to go back and try out the rest of the bowls they have to offer.
This is life changing
Spyce was one of my favourite restaurants in Boston. The food was clean and delicious, and the staff there was friendly and chatty. But mainly, the technology there was way too cool. There was a cooking section, and the ordering section. In the cooking section, there was 7 "pots" for the automated robot to cook, and there was a sauce dispenser cart, and the bowls part. The pots were also automatically washed after each meal cooked, so it was very clean. On top, there were displays so you would see your name and know which pot was cooking it. The prices were also quite low, (I think because they don't need a lot of cooks) and the food was healthy. You would order at these kiosks, and you can use Apple Pay, Google Pay, and any other type of mobile payments/debit/credit card. I would suggest Spyce to put some more juices into the menu, as there was only three. It was a excellent experience overall, and I would like to go eat at Spyce again.
Such a neat idea. Super easy to order and was fun watching the robot make our food. Very affordable and delish! Highly recommended.
Really nice food, reasonable prices and amazing service
Great tasting and affordable food cooked by robots
Really cool place! Choose from many types of bowls. Inexpensive and really good. You order on an iPad and then watch the robot cook your food. Pretty fast too
Good value for money. Great for takeout, since there's a brief waiting time. You need to order at the kiosk, self service only.
Great food and exceptional service!
Very cool concept and good food. It was fast and a great price for a downtown Boston place. I felt though it did not have the same touch as humans cooking the food though.
For $7.50 I can guarentee as of this writing you are not going to get a more unique food experience. The entire ordering and cooking process up to the topping and getting your order is completely automated. As a side note this company is using my companies control systems, how cool! But as I was saying, its like being in the future with robots making your meal, and the best part is that the food is amazing! Flavors are bold, but not over bearing and they have healthy clean options for every menu item! If you are in Boston, you got to try Spyce!
Had a hard time believing how good it was! It's mostly automated with a little bit of human interaction, but the food had a way effected
Great experience. Clean environment. They just need more seating!
Good food. Wish they had better drink options. Not a place that is one wants to sit in to enjoy their meal.
Loved the food here!! It was so flavorful and tasty. There are plenty of options here if you're vegetarian, vegan, or gluten free. I loved the different cuisine options. I had the Korean bowl which was 'in testing' I hope they keep it on the menu. My friend had the pad thai bowl and also really liked theirs. There is some limited seating in the store itself so be sure to grab a seat as soon as you see one open! The staff was also super friendly and helpful.
I'm really glad my fiance and I got to come here on our trip to Boston, as the concept and execution of it is really, really cool. "Robots" making your food? Count me in. That being said, I wasn't hugely impressed by the food itself. Don't get me wrong, it was good, but I don't know if I'd get it too often if I lived in the area. One good thing about Spyce is the prices - they're very fair and very affordable. This time, I went with the Thai bowl. It had good flavor, but I feel like it could have been spiced up a bit more than it was. They have such a variety of cuisines and bowls, that I completely acknowledge this review could change with more visits and as I try more bowls. They're all so different from each other!
This little place is great!!! Robotic machinery makes each dish so it's consistently proportioned and amazing. There are multiple kiosks to place your order and also human cashiers. There are about 9 different dishes and they're available in regular (with meat) and vegetarian/vegan. I tried the Korean dish vegetarian. It was amazing, so flavorful. I also tried it with chicken. Both great. You have options of rice, lettuce, etc in your bowl. They're also cheap or reasonably priced at about $7.50 if I remember correctly.
This place is so cool. Great prices. Loved my Lebanese bowl. Will come back to try the others. I would just recommend you add an option for 'no receipt' as to reduce waste there as well.
Fun interesting experience - the restaurant uses mechanical cylinder woks that turn constantly, using induction heating to rapidly cook your food. They have a robotic system that adds the food to the wok and pours the food out into your bowl after its done, and then humans who dress the food with toppings and hand it to you.
Very cool concept, the quality of meat is very low. Weird chewy chicken with a very off taste. Have tried it twice now about 3 weeks apart and it tasted exactly the same.
The Korean bowl is delicious!
Great concept, good price!
Good food, the robotic meal preparation was delish, fast and easy!
Excellent food. Great location!
Affordable bowls that are easy to order and taste good too!
Food was delicious, insanely fast, and really affordable (especially for downtown Boston)! Great experience watching the robotic kitchen cook the food too. 10/10 would recommend. Go Tech!
A modern fast food pace! Order at a Kiosk, food is prepared by robots/automated and flipped into a bowl, then a person adds other toppings. Surprisingly tastes good.
Really incredible place and concept. Must comment that I thought the staff may not be too comfy in those shoes. (Always had my friend who worked in food service about it and now keep an eye out to see if they allow the staff to wear what is comfortable to them. ) Please let them wear comfortable shoes. Otherwise the place is epic
Rise of the machines. Good food at a reasonable price all made by robots. What more could you ask for?
I liked it and the long line at lunch suggests others like it too. Got the Lebanese bowl. Much of the food prep was done by a robotic cooking/mixing device. Finishing done by humans. Very tasty and inexpensive. May be the future of food service.
Great concept of food preparation
A futuristic restaurant that shows how you can still employ people in a mechanized robotic restaurant. I love the menu options and the freedom for the customer to tailor the order. Vegan friendly menu. The food also tastes very good. Highly recommended.
Really cool experience to see robots cook your food, but the food was just mediocre. Good place if you're looking for a quick filling lunch. It's all self service, from ordering to getting your own drink. But they do have employees plating toppings, so not 100% robotic.
Flawless. That's the word that comes to mind. From ordering to getting your food to leaving it is all perfect. The price is very reasonable, the staff is friendly, the food is delicious, the atmosphere is nice and very clean. And I didn't even get to the ROBOT part. Amazing experience from start to finish - you can watch the robot make your food in front of you. This place is a hit.
Love the concept...first time eating from robotic machines. Food was fresh, delicious, good portion and we thoroughly enjoyed watching ther cooking process. Superb customer service too..the manager was super helpful and explained the history to us. Great going MIT guys!!
Fantastic, filling (620-800+ good calories), and healthy food AND the cheapest in the area ($7.50 for any bowl you choose)?! I'll take it! Thank you!! I just wish beef was an option here, but oh well.
Awesome concept! Various and delicious recipes
Loved the atmosphere and the fun new no chef system looks very facilitating with cute little messages for each order. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area.
Finally, robots will cook for you! A good, consistent, and tasty meal at a perfectly reasonable price.
Great, filling food! The interior is very chic, the staff is friendly, oh and ROBOTS! I would highly recommend this place.
Interesting approach. Food is tasty. Fast and very reasonably priced. Real commitment to composting
Amazing experience and great food for a reasonable price! I wish they had more branches in Quincy and other suburban cities.
Great concept, quick service, but it got our orders slightly wrong
The food was amazing and the staff was friendly and helpful. All of the bowls are only $7.50 so very reasonably priced. The concept is really unique. The robot cooks the main part of the meal and then the employees finish the dish with fresh toppings. I ordered the Lebanese bowl with no meat and it was out of this world. I can't wait to go back.
Delicious salad options. I'd say better than Sweet Green and Whole Heart Provisions (although it has a different concept). The automated machines making the salad bowls make the experience even cooler to watch.
This place was a pleasant surprise! You need to select your ingredients on the computers installed and then it goes automatically to the robots
Interesting place, love the idea of automation. Food is good if you're hungry.
Pretty good food. If you want robots making your food it is interesting. However, when I go out to eat I want to actually interact with people and have people who care make me some delicious food.
Robots are the fuuuuuture also this food is so good
Omg. It's not a personal review. I adore this idea. Please please please,,,, go BIG Come to Tucson AZ. I'd go all the time.
Nice experience. Pretty awesome to see robotic cuisines. Food is relatively cheap; 7.50 for any rice bowl. Quality is quite good, for what it's worth.
Quick self-help service. Order on screen. Everything was customizable for my bowl, so it is somewhat friendly to food intolerances and I was mostly satisfied, but I would not have many options if I were to go there often. The sauces and spices don't leave much options if you are sensitive to those things. Interesting to watch the automatic cooking mechanism. Odd thing is that not all toppings are available to select in all the bowls. Some of us couldn't get the topping that was available to another person - that part is not transparent. Good price though.
If you are up for some chicken over rice. This is the best place in town for some automated cooking. It has some really healthy options. But it is not that informative if you are a first timer. It would have helped if there was a how to posted some where in the place.
Novel idea, but the various dishes fell short of expectations. Pasta was good, but the Asian dishes were not.
I like their Indian bowl . This place really feels like run by robots and machines.
I never even knew Italian food was a real thing until I went here! I have been researching Italy ever since. Excellent place to learn geography!
Come here when you hate everyone on this planet and order on a machine. Then this place even says when it is making your food through some round digital displays. There is a variety of options in terms of cuisine and quote delicious.
Fast/good/cheap lunch. Not sure if the novelty of the automation will wear off, but I would go back again.
Spyce is such a cool idea and very reasonably priced, plus the stuff is super friendly and helpful. It's also very fun to watch your food get made. I will say, I wasn't the biggest fan of the bowl I tried (Indian) but I'd definitely be willing to go back and try something else. It's also a fairly new restaurant, so I'd assume they're still tweaking the recipes as well
Enjoyable food in a bowl with a variety of ethnic spins and the novelty of robot chefs.
Good food, robot aspect not that exciting
Food made to order with new cooking ingenuity. Food is fresh and delish.
This is a really interesting place, the fact that almost everything is automated. It's a really cool process to watch, and you can specify everything you want in your meal on a computer screen, they have a good amount of vegan options, but it does feel like it loses that personal touch.
What's the point to have those machines when their employees have to stir every single one of the pots every time. Menu is small and food taste ok, interesting enough to try once.
I am impressed. Good food. Generous portions.
So I have to admit I visited Spyce more out of curiosity of robots cooking my food than the food itself. Boy was I surprised to receive a delicious bowl with a large serving and healthy ingredients. This is definitely a spot in Boston I’ll be visiting more.
Love my robot cooked food! It's always consistently good and their menu rotates every couple of months
I'm leaving this review after finishing my bowl about ten minutes ago. I'll definitely be back to Spyce. The bowls are delicious and they're priced fairly for the amount of food you get and for being in downtown Boston. I also found the experience of ordering at the kiosk to be efficient, once getting through the line.
Wonderful place : good and not expensive at all
Amazing quick bowls on the go for a great price. Always neat to see the automation as well!
This place has got fantastic food at an unbeatable price for the middle of Boston. I had the Korean bowl, which had a great variety of vegetables and flavors. Also, very friendly staff! (Well, at least the human staff)
I don't know why it's called Spyce and not ROBOT LUNCH, but it's great. Had the chicken and rice, and I think it was better than the human made version down the street. A little bit too generous with the chicken maybe, but the taste was great. Try to get there a couple minutes before noon, but the line moves quickly.
Good unique experience
Excellent - I am vegetarian and also India, so I choose Vegetarian Indian Tikka Masala flavor bowl and it was 10/10. Quantity is perfect for price. Totally worth visiting I will def. Go back and yes technology makes things faster, you will get your order within 5 to 7 minutes no matter how much the line is, because its FAST.
The robotic preparation is a bit of a gimmick but the food is tasty!
Nice alternative to other fast foods. Ordering experience is slick and service is fast.
Very cool concept (a robotic kitchen) and most importantly great food. The bowls are tasty, filling and reasonably priced.
Clean, bright space with very fast and affordable food. Fun experience with a very helpful employee to guide people to the kiosks where you order. It's so fun to watch your bowl being prepped right in front of you, and the food was amazing.
Spyce is a modern fast restaurant where you can get any type of cuisine you like Thai Indian Lebanese Roma They have bowl for everyone, plus you can add multiple add-ons. The way they make it is also really cool to see You can see your name being displayed with the bowls being prepared There are 7 kiosks to place order and it takes 2 min to place the order and 5-6 minutes after that to get the food Ingredients are fresh and healthy Its right next to b good and is much more affordable than it Bowl is for 7.50 if after tax it's under 8$ Enjoy your meal
I was a little skeptical about the idea of robot-cooking restaurant. And the food actually tastes great!
Really good food, all of which is cooked by the kitchen robot. Usually enough for 2 (or at least 1.5) meals. Pretty simple menu offers mostly multiple variations on chicken and rice from various cuisine types (Korean, Latin, Thai, and others). I believe they have a couple of pasta dishes as well including a pesto dish that I have yet to try.
Price is good. Food is average but the presentation and style is different. Try it once. I tried Indian food and it definitely does not taste like Indian food. One negative is quantity is not enough i think for price. Good thing is fast make it yourself food.
Decent food. Relatively dull ambience.
