This Restaurant is classified in the category of Chinese restaurant.
This restaurant has everything. Outstanding authentic Szechuan food, and American comfort dishes. The standout cocktail menu is thoughtfully sourced and really well put together. Not a loser in the bunch. Attentive extremely professional staff. Just enough flair to make it a very fun evening out.
Very intimate, really good food and drinks, and thru also threw in complimentary dessert drinks to help celebrate my birthday. That made my night.
One of the best restaurants I've been to in years. Drinks were amazing and food was incredible. Well definitely be back.
If you like cheap lunch specials, but care less on food quality, probably it is the place to go. I mean a meal for $10, what else can you expect to have? They told me that’s American food, and pre-made ! If you do care about dinner quality and taste, then order something different from things on the lunch menu, it will make a difference but will still be expensive though. Try veggies or seafood, avoid meat! Price is too high for average the food quality. Service is good and staff are nice. Deco is better than normal Chinese restaurants Parking is fine. Tables are nice but floors are not cleaned.
Very rash staff. Sweet food. Don't go here. Trust me on this one
Some of the best Sichuan food, around, in a strange living room setting. This restaurant is also a top notch tiki bar, surprise!
Got attitude right when we walked in, host (some old guy who didnt even bother to put his phone down) mimicked me when I was describing the guest I was meeting. After that terrible experience, no waiti g shows up for about 20 mins. We walk out, amd the same hostess, with an attitude says "why are you guys leaving." Test your luck in this horrible place...
Nice atmosphere in a historic home, awesome food
Tasty, good portions and fast service
The food was excellent! Service inacceptable. At 10pm they indicated a hard stop by turning on lound and annoying dance floor music. Our table was too high and the chairs far too low to sit comfortably at the table. You could almost shuffle the food from the plate directly into you mouth. It was only after asking a second time that they provided some pillows to lift us up at least a bit. At the end, when turning on the music to drive the herd out, noboday there to greet their guests. Even the guy at the entrance desk was turning his back and concentrated on his smartphone or whatever.
The food is excellent! I love that they call the Americanized Chinese food "American Comfort Food". The cocktails are really fun.
Okay, maybe we made a mistake ordering the lunch specials, but this was the worst Chinese food I've ever had. I ordered the chicken with cashew nuts, which came in a sauce that was reminiscent of ketchup. And there was a lot of it. It was kind of a soup. My wife's lunch was similarly unappetizing. I don't love leaving negative reviews, but if we're using review systems for their intended purpose we occasionally have to be truthful when we have a bad experience. I should say there were other people in the restaurant who seemed to be having a great time.
Remarkably delicious, authentic Sichuan food. A refreshing change from the typically bad Chinese food around Boston. Good service. The location, a historic residence, is a bit strange, but it's cozy.
Best Chinese food I've had
Low grade food. Same quality as the mall food
Got Double Pork, fresh veggies and spicy water beef. Very good Chinese food in non-chinese neighborhood. Lost a star because rice is not free.
Authentic Chinese-Sichuan cuisine
Great food and cocktails
The lounge upstairs is well worth the wait to get in. Creative cocktails, fresh Asian food and a cool back-in-time vibe. I especially love the seating. Highly recommended.
The Chinese food here is the best around the area. I come here regularly and I have never been disappointed.
Amazing atmosphere, fantastic cocktails, and oh yeah, the food is great as well. Make a reservation for the bar, it's well worth it!
Always excellent service and great menu !!
I met a friend for dinner here last night. I have never heard of needing a reservation to sit at the bar. We were there at 445 and were told that the bar didn't open until 5. They would not let us sit until the Bartender said it was ok. Talk about snobby....I think they forgot that they are in Woburn and not downtown Boston. Will NEVER go back.....
Excellent food and drinks
Play sucks people are rude
Best Sichuan around. Superb cocktails.
It was awful ! Worst food I ever had service awful. Asked waiter for opinion on favorites . Could not understand us at all , even to order drinks . Boneless spareribs all hard grizzle . Sesame chicken dark meat at best and all fat and grizzle.. The bill was $ 200 for four of us with tip and only 7 drinks. Would never go back !!
I ate lunch at this restaurant for the first and last time. The soup was warm, and chicken wings were cold as if they were sitting from the rush hour luncheon. The kid that waited on me did not even say his name, and never came back to check on my food and service. No stars for this restaurant. I gave it a one only because the post would not allow me to submit my review unless I hit a star.
Top notch food. Never a disappointment.
This place was straight up beyond. There food was AMAZING and the service was awesome. The drinks?
Lot of authentic Chinese dishes. American Chinese dishes are marked separately
Great atmosphere for sure. Great service and food quality and flavor are excellent. I really liked that they chose my drinks and my meal for me. Great experience.
Some of the best Chinese food in Boston
Did not know this was even a restaurant until I walked in. Even with the sign on top, it looked just like a normal house. Has that mansion turned restaurant feel to it. The food wasn't bad, but the portions were a bit small. You won't smell like food when you leave the restaurant.
good
Authentic Sichuan Restaurant. We ordered two dishes that can test fundamental skill of chief. Both dishes are suprisely good. It is a little pricey comparing to other same level of Sichuan Restaurant. We came in Thursday evening at 6:30, parking lot was full already. They have enough tables, no wait.
The cocktails are a lot of fun. I really enjoy the good but I'm not sure it's my favorite Asian restaurant. Excellent appetizer selection though. Love the Chengdu wings!
Delicious Sichuan cusine. I used to call this "the best Chinese restaurant I've ever found. Unfortunately they've recently shrunk their menu and eliminated a number of our favorites. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.
Average food with twice than average price
This is absolutely the best Chinese food and cocktails in New England. Reserve in advance because everyone tries to get a table here.
Amazing food
I went to the buffet with my family on a Sunday . Limited items. Per person was $15 so kinda expensive.
Great food, atmosphere and staff! Make sure you make reservations at the bar!
First time here and just loved it....the service and the food outstanding, yes we will be coming back!!!
Great Chinese food with extremely high quality ingredients!
Fantastic! The cocktails are creative and delicious. Food is perfectly executed and authentic. Probably the best Chinese food I've had in the US. I am definitely bringing everyone I know to this hidden gem
This is a most excellent restaurant. I have e tried the fried shrimp =good, Sichuan shredded chicken = good, the spicy pork dumplings = good, the chengdu hot dry chicken =SUPER AMAZING, The spicy beef noodle soup was mediocre. The pork pan fried dumplings where delicious. I would absolutely recommend this place. They have good wait staff and a fast kitchen.
Delicious Sichuan food and an awesome staff at the bar who do a great job mixing cocktails to suit.
Good food.
Love this place! From their great drinks, to awesome atmosphere to the superb food
I was heartbroken when Sichuan Garden didn't live up to these amazing reviews. The house itself is exceptional and I love how the owners set up the inside. Each room has this ability to transport you into the past which I loved because it gives the place so much character. However, the location I was seated at was deeply unfortunate. There was hair, dust, and what looked like fruit juice completely covering the window seal directly to the left of me. If someone doesn't take the time to keep things like the interior of the window seal clean it really makes me wonder about other things. Despite this I continued with my meal which wasn't bad, but lacked a really enriching flavor.
Decent foods with unique flavor.
What a disappointment this restaurant is. We went for lunch because we were in the area. A restaurant should be clean. This one isn’t. The meal was disappointing too. The website is all about flavor. I ordered cellophane noodles with minced pork. There was no pork. Let me amend that, there was one tiny piece as big as a grain of rice. One wonders if the kitchen thought we wouldn’t know how the dish was supposed to be prepared. This dish is known as “ants on a stick.” The noodles are the stick and the pork are the ants. The dish had no flavor, just some heat.
Got a table upstairs, amazing food and amazing drinks.
kind of a strange atmosphere and a strange building for a Chinese food restaurant. Food was ok
Amazing Food and drinks. The bartenders are super friendly and will be willing to work with you on any cocktail choice
Tasty. Almost forgot that I was north of the city and not in Chinatown
Superb Sichuan food in an unusual setting -- a historic house. Try the fish dishes.
My favorite bar outside of the city. The bartenders mix amazing craft cocktails made to order. The food is also great too, the twice cooked fish is to die for.
I personally don’t understand why this place is so popular. Maybe there is no good Sichuan restaurant near that area? The restaurant is a modified old house, which was very nice. The service was excellent compared to all other Chinese restaurants in town. The food was decent, but not very impressive. I don’t think I will come back unless I am in that area and there is no other options.
Good authentic Chinese food at decent prices. Not huge serving sizes, and majority of the dishes are spicy. There is also a bar, don’t let the outside fool you, it looks like a very expensive restaurant, but it is not to expensive.
For being in the middle of nowhere, this is some pretty authentic Szechuan cuisine. Strangely juxtaposed with a lively Boston bar. Reasonably priced, and they don't dumb down the numbing peppers.
One of the finest chinese place in Boston. Food is excellent and service is good!
Disappointed in the portion size of General Tso considering high price otherwise good. Ordered general tso chicken for pick up. It looked like I had received a stingy amount. The trays used for take out are pretty standard amongst Chinese restaurants so it's pretty easy to say I had received 25-50% less than I typically see. It cost a rather high amount, $13, which came out to $1 per piece of chicken. So I went back and talked to the matradee who confirmed that I had received the correct portion. No reparations were made. Needless to say, I am disappointed with the high price and wanted warn my fellow consumers that the portions are small and the price was high.
I just Called to pick up my food, but the old guy that take my order was so rude I called on 11/06/2015 friday night. you will need a polite person to take calls. if you want good food go to China Sky in Winchester, Is so much Better than this place.
Usually this place is hit or miss (~3 stars) , but I ordered take out tonight (extra spicy garlic scallops and shrimp fried rice) and it was marginally disgusting. The "fishy" scallops were cooked with wilted broccoli and the dish did not have a hint of garlic. This was the second time I ordered the dish; the time before that I dined in and it was pretty good! The "shrimp" fried rice, which was almost room temp and prepared with the teeniest baby shrimp, also lacked any distinct flavoring. This was my first time ordering the shrimp fried rice so I have nothing to compare. I have only eaten the vegetable fried rice, which is not prepared with soy sauce and is rather decent if the cook does not use much oil. I have eaten here about 7 or 8 times and I have to say that each time it gets more difficult to return. It looks like I am going to have to find another Chinese food restaurant. :( P.S. The cocktails are worth the dining in (at the bar), and if I was rating solely on that experience it would be 4 stars, but sometimes you just want to do take-out.
Very lovely, authentic Taiwanese food
Hot sour soup was thin mostly broth. Lo mein was all noodles, little protein.
Very unique historic place. Excellent food
Its got character and has a good vibe and feel to the bar (nice job on the upstairs bar). The food off the house menu is awesome and the drinks 1st class... having to make a reservation to sit at the bar is bush league (minus 1 star).
Don't call it a Chinese food restaurant. It's far more than that. The food and drinks are amazing!
Upstairs review only. Downstairs is oddly shadowed by the grandeur of the overall ambience and slendid craftsmanship experience upstairs. They say food and drinks are the same but upstairs has been better Everytime. Only will get reservations for upstairs from now on.
Cocktails at the bar are amazing. Good wasn't bad either.
Food is great, if you get what you've ordered. That part can be a little dicey. Staff is gracious but not well informed (when I asked what the fish in a dish was, the answer was "white fish". Not terribly helpful). Cocktail program is solid, although the only way to take advantage of that is to sit at the bar, which apparently you need a reservation for. Overall, if you have access to Chinatown in Boston, you're better off going there. But for the suburbs it's better than most of the take out places, especially for traditional dishes.
Great, unique drinks with phenomenal staff and tasty, reasonably priced food. Each room has its own atmosphere for families, dates, and friends so be sure to explore.
This is an authentic restaurant with great food and even better bars (one on the main floor and one on the second floor). Excellent place for cocktails after work. The food is amazing, authentic, and fair priced.
Two very colorful bars! The restaurant is an old mansion, and very picturesque. The food is a bit uneven . Try the Shengdong chicken appetizer . It is excellent.
Such a great spot for authentic Sichuan cuisine. We've been coming to this restaurant and their other location in Brookline for years and they never disappoint. Lately the fei Tang fish and the Chengdu chicken seem to have less spice in them, so the you don't get that metallic taste, but they are still quite good. The fish soup and string beans are our favourites. Can't go wrong with anything on this menu.
Amazing food and drinks. Everything was delicious, and they have plenty of vegan friendly options. Will come back whenever I visit the area!
Best Chinese food in the area in a cool building. Great spicy and salty Sichuan flavors that I wasn't expecting from a place in the suburbs. Top notch beer and cocktail selection. Service has been spotty every once in a while but is generally pretty good.
Hands down, most amazing cocktail bar! We asked the server to make a whisky based cocktail with emphasis on presentation, and the result was outstanding! All cocktails are very balanced. Chengdu chicken wings go really well as appetizer.
Food and drinks are delicious! Atmosphere in dining room leaves a lot to be desired.
Great local sichuan Chinese good outside of Boston.
Really great Asian food including some more authentic options. Additionally they have a top caliber bar with some modern and incentive drinks.
Food was awesome and authentic just wish the bar drinks were available for the restaurant
Great food excellent service!
The best food I ever had. Wings are amazing!!
Great Chinese food in a historic building. Everything we've tried has been quite good. Don't expect to just sit down and have a mai tai while waiting for your take-away order though. Apparently the bar is a separate entity requiring reservations to sit at the bar (you know, the place where you normally sit while waiting for a table). Ask for a mai tai without mint in it and just soak in all the hipster derision you can handle. But yeh, Sichuan garden is our go-to Chinese restaurant.
The food is exquisite... The cocktails are even better! Make your reservations in advance as their Mixologist Ran is World renowned.
Went for dinner here last night and it was the most humiliating experience I’ve had in my entire life. When I arrived and waited for my girlfriend I ordered for a drink at the bar. I was rudely outright refused service. I didn’t mind and proceeded to my table. Guess what, the three wait staff in the dining area were equally rude and harassing. They did take our order but it became clear they didn’t want us there. We noticed that the same wait staff was treating other groups much politely and with etiquette. By the time we realized we cannot eat here we had already ordered. Paid for it and went to eat in downtown Woburn. This is 2019 and this restaurant clearly doesn’t accept minorities. Our date was ruined. If you want to have a nice meal and you’re a minority please do not go here.
Love this place every time I've gone. 4 times now, once with gf and daughter and one take-out. Every time I have been wicked happy. Very friendly staff, delicious food. Never seen jellyfish anywhere else and it's become a special, rare treat.
Awesome chillout with good food and drinks
What a surprise this place was. Awesome food and very unique selection of cocktails.
Great food! Lots of house specials. Lots of house Creations, including some very, very spicy dishes! Decor is interesting.
Great quality and fresh lunch specials. Really nice beer selection.
Cost is too high....taste of food
Best cocktails in Woburn! Great authentic food
Great food and service. Nice environment for a business lunch.
Was good
This place is amazing. Very good food and the bartenders are awesome! You have to try the dumplings. Best around!
Didn't care for this place. Food was eeh. Place was old and not so clean.
I highly recommend the bar. Three of us got different drinks and they were all very good. A little bit proxy but worth it. Food is okay if you are looking for American Chinese food.
Some of the best cocktails around, especially if you have an event at the beautifully decorated upstairs bar. They've won numerous awards for their drinks, and it shows both in the deliciousness and the price. The food is also top notch with a great mix of american-style chinese food and semi-authentic classics. Staff is also top notch and very friendly.
Good service but a little on the pricey side
Amazing authentic cuisine.
Wonderful service! Very good food which hard to find. Nice interior
I have been to this family-run restaurant chain several times, but the chance I got unpleasant dinning experience is high. A couple of years ago, I went Sichuan Garden I in Brookline, which is managed by the wife, and got a rusty pin in the dish. So I never go back to there. I thought Sichuan Garden II, which is managed by the husband, might not be so bad, so I went there a few weeks ago to order take-out. I was promised the waiting time was 45 minutes, but I could not get what I ordered until two hours later. I complained politely. The boss came out, “We are very busy today. What I can only say is sorry”. The tune did not sound he was sorry even for tiny bit. I guess what he really meant was “I can only SPEAK sorry to you (but I am not sorry at all)”.
This is fantastic. Great food Cheng du wings are excellent. Also if you like drinks their drink menu and bar is world class.
The beer selection is pretty amazing for a Chinese place, but the real draw are the excellent cocktails. All the base ingredients are made fresh daily, and they have a great selection of liquors, liqueurs and bitters. The food selection ranges from better than your usual American-Chinese food to authentic cuisine. Highly recommended!
Their food is okay , nothing to be crazy about. but they were very rude even though i called in first and asked one question "how long will it take?" And the owner told me his answer and asked me "do you want to order?" And I said "yes" and started saying my order. Instead of taking my order he switched to 2nd caller who called in after me and took his long order for over 5 minutes before switching back to me. Since he wouldn't listen to my complaint i just have to post it online. If you cant do business fair you will lose customers.
Authentic food and a great setting in a historical colonial building. Drinks are the best from an award winning in-house bar. If you like good cocktails you will be pleased even if they seem pricey. Funky and different, it does not feel like a standard commercial restaurant at all. Highly recommend.
Service was good, despite being busy. The food and drinks are amazing
Tasty well-balanced Szechuan food. If you go at night, you can enjoy one of the world's great cocktail bars...
Great lunch menu.
F-ing Fantastic. Ran (bartender) recommended the spicy chicken wings that were super spicy and crispy. I quickly reached for the incredible cocktail that Ran had mixed up just to go with the wings. If you ask them what to get and what to drink with it, they will advise you on the best food pairing possible. I recommend the duck, hot buttered rum, hot buttered mezcal, and anything that Ran puts in front of you.
Always enjoy visiting this restaurant when I'm visiting Boston area. Highly recommended - love the spicy stuff.
Great good. Try the dry chicken.
The food was very tasty. Highly recommend the Chengdu Chicken. Pro tip: you need reservations at the bar.
Pickled veggies are awesome
Amazing Sichuan food and the drinks were absolutely bomb. The servers were so polite and accommodating. Definitely recommend!
The food is great if you stay with the Sichuan, and their bar program is excellent. Bartenders are doing more interesting things than any place you'll find in the suburbs. You can get Americanized Chinese anywhere. Stay with the Sichuan parts of the menu. Wings, twice cooked pork belly and cocktails are the way to go!
This place has some of the best cocktails I've had. Shocking- I know. The food is great too but cocktails are the star.
I have eaten here a number of times. The food is excellent however, if you are expecting American Chinese food look elsewhere. If you are looking for authentic Chinese food this is the place. Many reviews comment on the bar drinks but I cannot comment on that, never had a drink there.
Very delicious. I like the chicken asparagus soup and the fish in the chilli oil. Fine atmosphere and friendly staff.
Solid Chinese food, but the star of the show is the Tiki Bar. Great drink menu, ambiance and bartenders.
Great tasty food. Don't forget to try the beef brisket.
Foods good. The bar is the winner here. There's an upstairs that has to be experienced to fully appreciate. The price reflects the effort they put in to their drinks. A great place to have a few drinks.
This restaurant is not even worth a single star. Hands down the worst restaurant I have dined at. The place smells like an oil distillery. Food is pathetic and service is horrible. We did not eat a dish after taking a spoon and complained that it is bad. They promptly shook their head and billed me the full amount even after complaining. I seriously doubt how this place passed health and sanitary inspection. Horrible experience.
Food is fantastic...bar drinks are fantastic...bar tenders could be more personable
Decor really needs an update. Feels like dining in an old and run down colonial house (which it kind of is). I was there with my brother to check out bar, but the bartender was off. We ended up settling for a normal diner. We had dumplings, pepper beef, and spicy fish bowl. Both the beef and fish were good, but the dumplings were terrible (sadiest triangle looking dumplings made with square wrapper skins fold over).
Great food every time
Great Cocktails - The bartender asked what I liked to drink and I said gin. My friend likes rum. He created two delicious cocktails. There are two floors to the restaurant. The downstairs serves traditional Chinese food. The upstairs is where the mixologist creates custom cocktails. The selection of food on the upstairs menu was created to compliment the custom cocktails. Reservations are best. Very busy. Small parking lot.
Great cocktail program from award winning bartender.
Possibly the best spicy Chinese food in the Boston area, certainly in the burbs.
I mean, you k is this place is good.... Just go already
Best dining experience in Boston. Make the trip, but whatever you do, don't go upstairs. It's a secret.
Fantastic food and amazing cocktails, this restaurant is a must
Love the idea of this place as it's in an old mansion. But it's a bit of an awkward experience. Servers were quick and attentive. Food came out fast, but the sauce for my friend's General Gaus and my Sesame Chicken was extremely syrupy and sweet. I've never had such a thick red sauce for either of those options. This place is...ok, but definitely not my go to.
The food was good in general. Some dishes really good like the wok seared filet and the pork dumpling others like moo shu not so great. The service was bad, staff was not friendly at all. I had to stand up twice to get a waitress.
Good food. Pricey
The Baldwin Bar at Sichuan Garden is a little piece of Shanghai in Woburn! The libations are unreal, the atmosphere is so cool. Be sure and make reservations and sit at the bar to be entertained by their talented mixologists!
I had such a great experience! The food was great, the drinks are absolutely phenomenal! My waiter was awesome and on point ! I would recommend this place to anyone especially if you want an awesome drink! The bartenders are pros and put on a little show in mixing their drinks! Pretty awesome will definitely be back!
The American Chinese food menu is good, but if you ask for the authentic menu there are some gems. The spicy crab from the authentic menu is made with whatever crab is available. I usually like soft shell crab but I prefer the "normal" crab in this dish. It can be quite spicy but is delicious! Without going into much detail, a few favorite dishes: Dan Dan noodles, crispy hat fish, and wok charred beef The best part about this restaurant is the bar. The drink menu varies and the bartenders there are excellent. The head bartender is amazing but all of them are better and more knowledgeable than most bartenders I've met. If you don't know what you want to drink then I suggest the "bartenders choice." They will ask you questions in order to make you the perfect drink. I've never been disappointed
Very odd place, waiter did not speak English. Difficult ordering drinks and food. Speak easy bar upstairs, we just wanted one drink and was escorted upstairs and there were four people and we could not get a drink because we did not have a reservation.
Some of the best Chinese Food ever AND amazing drinks! Win, win, check it out for yourself!
Chicken wings fantastic, shrimp Marnier was wonderful!
My wife took my daughters and I here for a birthday dinner. The menu is quite a bit more diverse than most American chinese restaurants. The food was wonderful. The restaurant itself is organised into a series of rooms just like a home and the place was quite busy. As a result the service was not quite as attentive as you might expect. None of this would stop me coming here again.
The food was good and the location is historic.
I visited this neat little place for dinner while on a trip to Boston recently. The place is inside an old house. Quite a neat venue for sure. The atmosphere was nice for a quaint little place. I was well attended to by the wait staff and was even able to get a Tsing Tao even though it wasn't on the menu. It is not the best Chinese place I've been to here in the US, but it is a pretty good one. I was a tad disappointed the Kung Pao chicken wasn't as spicy as it should be for Sichuan but the taste was very good.
An awesome Asian restaurant that prepares more than just your typical American Chinese dishes. All sorts from spicy Sechuan to Cantonese and always fresh!! Definitely worth the visit.
The food is absolutely delicious, the service is great, the ambiance is lovely, and the prices are totally reasonable. Highly recommended.
We ordered the lobster with ginger and scallions, which was listed as $16.95 and were charged $24.95. We would not have ordered the dish at that price and when we called back about the discrepancy, we were essentially told tough luck. Although the food was quite good, we will not return. This was particularly upsetting given the issues they have had in the past with misrepresentation of prices ( that was about a dollar or two, not eight dollars for a single dish) such that legal action was taken and it was written about in the Boston Globe. If you eat there, make sure you ask about every price on the menu and triple check your bill. There are too many other great restaurants in the area to have to go to that trouble.
Great lunch specials $9.95 If you go into menu and like authentic Sichuan fare, this place is great!
This is my current favorite Chinese restaurant in the north suburbs. Their hot and sour soup is excellent and I'm quite fond of the chicken with spicy capsicum.
Sometimes dirty but great food and drink
I was extremely disappointed. We have visited the upstairs bar before and the drinks and food was amazing. So today we had reservations on the first floor , not thinking that it be completely different. Our food was cold ,average for Asian food ,our waitress was too busy to notice that our drinks were empty. Absolutely not worth the effort for me.Sorry
Having recently moved from a place with great Sichuan Chinese food, I had been looking for some place to match it. When I tried Sichuan Garden today, I was delighted to find a very good match to the tastes and flavors I had been used to. The lunches are very well portioned, the price is right and the food itself is delicious - if not a bit heavy on the sauce side. The fried rice is flavorful, but not over seasoned with either soy, butter, or oil. The hot and soup is warming and savory without being pungent or strong. I will be frequenting here again!
