The food was just okay but the service was amazing. I say this about the food but I lived in Texas so my taste in Tex-Mex is extremely particular. The salsa was tasty and just spicy enough that my grandchildren could enjoy and so could I.

After reading some of the reviews, we were worried, but given how close it was to our hotel we gave it a shot. We were from out of town. Was greeted and seated within minutes of walking through the door. Our server was prompt, drink order was only about the expected time. Food was slightly longer, but came out hot. Chips and salsa were awesome! We'd go again. Not sure if changes were made but nothing like what some of the reviews were...hope they keep it up!

The food was very good. I had the 8oz steak, vegetable medley and Mexican rice. The waitress started out very good and being attentive and taking care of us, but then in the middle of the meal she went down hill. She asked the standard "can I take this out of your way?" and we said sure. There were probably at least eight plates and bowls etc. to remove. She took what she could hold in one hand and left. No problem, she'll be right back to take the rest right? Nope! Happened again. Then time for dessert. Clearly we were done with everything and we had pushed everything aside ourselves. Same thing, she would make one trip and not take everything! Just made eating the meal annoying...

Our experience was really four stars, good server, food was fine but when we walked in there were tons of empty tables but we were told it would be a 15 min wait. Clearly they were down servers and trying to figure things out while we waited. People who were there were very nice and helpful if a little stressed.

I've eaten here several times with friends and family as it's a good central location with easy access to 93 and 95/128. The menu features plenty of options, but my favorite is the create-your-own combo meal, which allows you to mix and match several options, including empanadas, enchiladas, and tacos, as well as soups and salad for a reasonable price. Of course, they also feature margaritas and other cocktails to whet your whistle. The staff is friendly and courteous and the restaurant is clean and well-maintained. There is plenty of parking but I often find myself parking in the rear of the restaurant as there is limited space directly in front. Overall, this is a great place for an delicious meal at a reasonable cost.

On The Border is rather nostalgic for me, so this review might be a bit biased. I hadn't eaten at one in years, and had the occasion recently. I had the chicken enchiladas, which were always to die for, and they were exactly the same. Yum.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. The booths are beat up with sunken spots so deep, you almost need a booster to reach the table. The enchiladas I ordered were terrible. If it wasn't for the chips and salsa, which had a nice spice it, I would have given 1 star. Taking this off one off my list.

Well i got it say this. But this place is a total scam they said they sell mexican food but when is not mexican food, Is just food that they call mexican with white style dishes it has nothing to do with mexican. Spend $60.00 dollars worth of so called mexican but when i open the bag of food believe me. When i say this these food had anything to do with mexican style food. One example i can give is. I asked for carne asada which is a mexican plate and you know what i had instead. Medium done steak. And uncooked in the middle. People please if you are in boston in wuborn massachusset and you want to eat mexican mexican food dont go to this place you would be very disapointed and now only that you wont be able to get your money back. It is a terrible place to eat if you are looking to eat genuine mexican food.

I just had one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Rude server & disappointing food. Our Order was put in wrong for my companions meal, then no follow up for almost 10 minutes. When the Server did come back, she gave major attitude. The order was remade, no follow up again. My companion had to go to the front of the restaurant to get Silverware to eat the remade food. We Spoke with the manager. She didn’t even apologize or anything. Lots of better restaurants around here and we will be eating there.

Just went here in hopes of finding decent Mexican.. super disappointed. We were seated and had to ASK for our menus. Second, we ordered a watermelon margarita... it was not good at all. Big mix ups on a couple of peoples foods. Best part was my blue lagoon frozen drink. Would def come here for a drink again.

I have gone here for many years now and it's fine. I wouldn't say amazing or to die for, but fine. The recipes seem to be tasting cheaper through the years and the service has declined. My server was very nice and when he did come to check on us, once every century, was very pleasant and amiable. With confused cooks and head-in-the-clouds servers, I wouldn't say they are close to perfection. If you go in with average standards, they will probably deliver. Oh, and their salsa is really amazing. Love it.

It was ok. Service was slow even though it was later in the evening and the place was clearing out. Had some screaming babies that the parents did not deal with. I can't hold that against the restaurant. No complaints about the food, just nothing specil about the place. But, the churros are delicious!!!

Very busy on Saturdays and can be a wait. Interesting mix of food. Mexican and Cajun strange mix of cuisines? I had the crawfish etouffe, it was spicy not really like the authenic dish which cream based rue you get in New Orleans, Louisiana. They served cornbread which was good but should be French bread. Nacho chips little thick. It's all right but again doesnt taste authentic like real Cajun and Tex Mex should. Average cost for meal around $11-12

On the border is always my go-to resturant when craving mexican fare. Usually, they never disappoint. Tonight, however, it was less than impressive. The take-out took over 30 minutes and my order was incomplete. I ordered the steak fajitas (not a cheap dish) and was unpleasantly surprised when I sat down to eat and it was missing 1/2 the ingredients! No guac, no tomotoes,no lettuce....just steak. The 2 customers before and after me also were missing things. I usually check before i leave but didnt tonight. My bad....

The food was great but one thing I didn’t like was they didn’t have security cameras my fiancé left her wallet behind on the table in didn’t took long for a thief to take money of her wallet possible someone inside this restaurant or who knows it’s hard to report something like this with no security cameras. I’m very disappointed with this place not happy at all she lost a good amount of money of her wallet. So sad that we have 7 month old daughter in that money was for her clothes.

Horrible service. I am from Texas and have even dined at the original On The Border. Im here near Boston on a woek assignment. I decided to eat dinner here. I walked in the door and the two employees at the front had their back to me carryying on a conversation. They walked right by me and walked to a different area of the restaurant. When one of the employees came back I let her know I was disappointed in the way I was treated. The other gentleman came up and stated I had a bad attitude. Last time ever at On The Border. Thats not the eay to treat your guests. Come to Texas and learn how.I am in the restaurant industry and I know first hand.

Used to be our go to place for Mexican food, but this last visit left a bit to be desired. Overall, ok to visit in a pinch when the "chain" Mexican food restaurants don't cut it. Asked for Ranchero sauce on our chimi and enchiladas, it wasn't good or fresh but tasted very vinegary as if poured out of a bottle. Cheese in the enchiladas was chunky and didn't seemed cooked/melted.

Very disappointed. Staff was unorganized. No communication between hostess and wait staff. Waitress didn't know if she was coming or going. Got our appetizer after we started eating our entree. Asked for extra jalapenos for my burrito, yeah they forgot had to ask AGAIN. Manager was no where to be seen. It's sad, On The Border used to be one of the better mexican restaurants on the area.

This is the 4th time we have been there. First time was good. Second time was horrible (food was cold) and contacted the main office. They sent us an apology letter and coupons to try again. We came back for a third time and it was the same. Even the staff said the kitchen was horrible and people complain that the food is cold. We showed the Manager the letter and he said that there was nothing he could do. Year later we try for the fourth time. It is still bad and my wife and I will definitely not be back. I hope that the corporate management reads this. I am sure they have me on record letting them know that this place is a mess.

I went for the Taco Tuesday Specials. The cold chips are paper thin and very nice. The salsa was surprisingly good and very tasty. It even had a hint of heat. I started with one SOUTHWEST CHICKEN TACO ($4). The chicken was very tender, and the fried onion strings were excellent. The red chile sauce failed to appear. The second taco was the BRISKET TACO ($4). The brisket was very soft and lacked texture, but this was a delicious taco. I also ordered rice and beans on the side ($1.49). None of the available sides are listed on the menu. Both the beans and the rice was tasty, and the beans had a bit of texture left.

Nice, affordable sit down place to have a good Tex Mex meal and a drink. The service was a little slow. There were long stretches of time where we didn't see our server at all to ask for another drink or napkins. My friend has a dairy allergy, which she specified when ordering, and her food came covered in cheese and sour cream. They were quick to get her a new meal.

I'd give OTB zero stars if I could. We were seated right away when we arrived. We ordered and my family and I waited 40 minutes for food. After a half hour, I asked to speak with the manager. The food arrived at our table before he did. When we received our food, my food was burned and stuck to the cast iron plate. The manager got a new one for me. I only got half of my meal, but I was so hungry and annoyed I didn't even notice until I saw that the woman behind us got the same thing as I did and had another plate with all the toppings. My husband's steak was undercooked. He could not eat it, but he didn't send it back because we just wanted to leave. The manager said he'd take half off the bill and managed to overcharge us on half. We paid and left. I wrote a similar review on Facebook and received a reply asking me to email OTB with details. I had explained everything and felt no need to go out of my way to provide details that were already there. We frequented OTB about once a month before this incident, but will never go back! Horrible experience!

We don't usually go to Mexican chains but it was a snowstorm, we were travelling, and we were really in the mood for Tex-Mex. Both the skinny and the Border Margarita were delicious. Service was fabulous and food was well prepared. We really appreciated the staff who had gone to work during a snow storm. Would definately go again.

My fiance and I were seated and then promptly forgotten about. We had to flag down someone to get our order of waters after 10 mins of waiting, and then waited another 10 mins before again flaging someone down because we still hadn't recieved a drink or any chips and salsa. We were then brought two watermelon drinks and no water. All we wanted was water, so they took away the drinks and brought back two waters. After a few minutes the watermelon drink were brought back out to us and it was explained that no one had actually ordered the drinks, if we wanted we could have them for free. We accepted but were glad be had not actually purchased the drinks as they were not very good, seeming to be watermelon puree and seltzer water with no sweetener. But hey, it was free! We then waited some more to put in our orders of a chicken chimichanga and tortilla soup and some guacamole. The chimichanga was mostly liquid cheese and with some canned chicken and the guacamole had a strange smell and taste. We ate a few bites from each before waiting some more to get someones attention so we could pay. The following day we both realized it was a bad choice to have eaten any at all, as we were both very sick, the only thing different we had eaten being this place. We were not satisfied at all but I want to make it clear, the waitstaff were very friendly. All the people who helped us were very apologetic and nice, but the service was severely lacking.

Then even longer for the food to get there. May have just caught them on an off night but it was not that great, might try it again during a lunch hour.

It's a hit or miss it's either really good service or really shity service I went there the other night with my family and the waitress didn't seem happy to service even though there was only 10 people in the whole entire building maybe cuz it was late who knows no excuse though

So I've been here twice, with three weeks in between visits. Maybe it was because I had the same server both times, but she was actually the worst waitress I've ever had. The first time I wrote it off as just an off day and I offered her kindness in return. But the second time was just blatant rudeness. She hardly came to our table, took my margarita before I was even done, said my card was declined (which is false cause I used it directly afterwards at market basket) and dropped the bill back on the table and walked away and rolled her eyes before I could even get a word out. Also, why do you guys put carrots on your nachos? The food is clearly microwaved and very bland. I hate to write bad reviews, I really do. But this restaurant is terrible and I will not be returning.

Honestly if I could rate this place with no stars, I would. This Place is just awful. I’ve gone there way to many times and am disappointed every time. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Their food is no where near authentic Mexican food and their menu is very selective to what a Mexican place to should. The food doesn’t taste very good either. The only thing I would recommend from this place is the chip and dip. Just awful.
