If your looking for a local favorite spot to eat in Boston for good seafood ,No Name restuarant is your spot. We sat near the back of the restaurant and had a cool view of fishing boats with huge nets and also saw a spectacular moon rise over the water while boats were passing by. The sauteed seafood special was top notch. Jimmy was super nice and took time to explain all our questions about the city. You get your bang for your buck here too. Nothing fancy just a no name place on the docks with fresh seafood at a fair price.

Bryan Harmes

Not much to look at inside but don't judge a book by its cover. The service was great and the food OUTSTANDING. Prices were reasonable. Definitely try the seafood chowder. I know where I'm going when I'm back in town.

Marrea Rodriguez

Nice family environment. The older gentleman I believe was the owner kept bringing food for the children so they were happy! I got the sauteed lobster came with scallops and shrimp very good meal. Its right on a pier so before dinner we were able to walk it and take In some sights. Definitely going again when we are In town!

Hessam Dehqani

A friendly place with friendly staff. Very delicious meal. There was plenty of food on their fish platter and not expensive at all. I will come again with more friends soon.

Carol Moyer

Broiled scrod was tasty. The vegetable side turned out to be canned green beans and tasteless cole slaw. Service was gruff but efficient. The cashier was very friendly!

Chad Butts

Very fast service and hot food! Good local draft beer selection. Dated decor adds to vibe.

Vladislav Stakev

One of the best seafood restaurant in Boston. Always fresh and delicious food. Highly recommend. If you're in Boston just try the food here

Thom Schlegel

The food was excellent. My swordfish was amazing. Our waiter Nicholas was a delight and made the dining such a wonderful experience.

Rene Melero

Went a month ago and won't be back. While I know lots of folks like this place, I didn't. We went for early dinner. Got the calamari plate, it looked great but it had no flavor. Also had the haddock, again no flavor. And then the server was not attentive, like we were bothering her. I don't recommend it.

Stephanie Davis

This place is a classic, a definite bridge between the old and new Boston! The food is good too

Kyle M

The No Name Restaurant was amazing. It was extremely hard to find and is on a pier in an industrial area. We almost turned around due to the limited signage. I am so glad we didn’t. The chowder was great as well as the shrimp cocktail. It was priced well too

Carla Redondo

Delicious food. Fresh sea food with that New England savour that can get the less or more knowledge person to love it!

Odysseas Paschos

Found the No Name restaurant by accident and resulted in one of the greatest experiences for my colleagues and myself! Excellent service from attentive and super friendly staff! Food was fresh and tasty. Highly recommended for those who want a great dinner at a great friendly atmosphere!

Joe T

Excellent food at good prices for downtown Boston. Took three work colleagues there and all of them loved it. This is not a place for business dinners, since the decor is a little shabby. It’s a place to take friends & family for good seafood without breaking the bank.

No name restaurant puts as much effort it it's name as it does it's food. I came with a large party and the general consensus was no flavor could be found in any of our dishes. At an average of $30 a plate you'd think there would be a little more to the dishes. My plate was fried calamari which is by no means a challenging dish, but there was without any exaggeration, no seasonings in the batter. Not even salt. Just flour. To be fair, the texture was adequate. The staff was courteous and helpful, though I couldn't help but notice their unenthused, and seemingly stressed demeanor. Though I wish everyone here the best, my experience however will prevent me from ever returning.

This is a charming no frills seafood restaurant. The portions are large and the famous seafood chowder is not something you want to pass up. The place is quaint and homey. The night I was there the waitstaff was mostly older gentlemen and one of the cooks came out to work the room, talking to tables, and making sure everyone was happy with their food. I will return the next time in Boston

Best lunch I have had in a long time! Simply enormous lobster roll! And to top it off-. Amazing staff! My waitress was a doll and we swapped recipes for mint and garlic in olive oil. Made my day!!!

Steph Solis

I have no words, but I’m going to try. Lobster mac and cheese was amazing. Swordfish a decent portion, but it tasted light and flavorful. But the best part was our waiter. Nicholas is a gem. He alone made this worth five stars.

Dena Barmas

Possibly the most authentic seafood in Boston. Food was fresh and tasty. Nicholas and Hanna impressed us with their friendliness and service. Definitely try the seafood chowder, fish and chips, and seafood plates!

Tammy Werthem

Lobster mac and cheese loaded with lobster. Free fries and cole slaw. Get the Boston Creme Pie. Ask for Nicholas

Steve Holly

No nonsense seafood on the waterfront with good service. Broiled seafood platter was alright, a bit overdone and light on any seasoning. Friend had the boiled platter, it was better.

Tiffany Frey

Clam chowder was delicious. Cute environment. Ocean view in the back seating area

Helene McMurray

The good, the bad and the ugly - Good: seafood was actually just as good as the newer, pricier places in the Seaport area. Lobster was quite fresh and well prepared. The view onto the water was also lovely. Bad: our cocktails were not prepared as described in the menu. The sides could've come from any diner in the country. Ugly: The restaurant interior was very dark and dingy, didn't look fresh.

Went in with a reservation.. and people who came in after us were seated first. The man seating us was very impatient as was the person manning the front desk. Seemed more interested in getting people in and out than having any positive interactions with staff p Or customers. Lobster had a good flavor but overcooked and chewy. The seafood chowder was bland. Also the menus dont tell you much.Like that part of your order will be half in pickle relish they put on it (I hate pickles). Not worth the wait or the price.

Jennifer Kellett

As far as the lobster goes - 5 stars! And really - this is what I was after. No Name is a quaint, cozy, no frills restaurant and priced accordingly. The staff were very friendly from the reception hostess to our very delightful server. The sides and other dishes we ordered were very ordinary and the drinks menu limited. So - go for the lobster! And who wants to eat a whole lobster in a five star environment anyway.

Joselito Cruz Jr

Great food for a great price! I got the Fried Scrod Sandwich and couldn't complain about a thing. the restaurant is on OpenTable, which is great, and there is free parking in the east lot so long as you get your ticket validated.

Fazal Jamal

Overrated, I have been to this place twice....everytime was a disappointment. First time I ordered for fish fillets, came out very tasteless. Second time I ordered for NY Sirloin steak, same thing no taste whatsoever. I will give credit where is due, servers are nice

Dennis Pishik

I'd been wanting to check this place out for the longest time, my fiance kept giving me race reviews. Finally had the chance, wasn't disappointed. We had the fish chowder, fried clams, and fried scallops. The scallops and fish chowder were great, but I wish the clams were either fried a little longer or breaded a little less. Definitely hit this place up if you happen to be nearby!

Adam Bakker

The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and portions were generous. Jimmy, the owner, sent us a free platter of calamari when our reservation was delayed by about 10 minutes. Unfortunately, there was some kind of issue with the …

WOW! Spectacular place for a get together. We had a BLAST! 20 or so family members from 2 to 90 and everyone loved it. Casual, comfortable, and easy. Free parking but make sure to get your stub validated or.... Take the water taxi! …

Monica Meurer

Such a cool little spot! Service was great and the food even better! The owner Jim was wonderful. Had the seafood chowder and crab cakes... AMAZING!

Danago

Looks can be deceiving...from the outside it doesn't look much. Just a name of the store in what seems to be a warehouse. Except there seem to be long line of people waiting to get seated. But stepping inside its a different story. The place is packed. I had the best lobster meal of my life. The seafood chowder soup and shrimp scallop appetizer was also excellent. Superb meal all the way. Let me get this straight... if you don't like to eat Lobster then there's no point in going here at all. But if you do.. this will an interesting highlight of your meal in Boston.

Niloufar Ebrahimi

Good food. Great customer service. Great price for restaurant by water, has its own parking.

Erich Meier

If people that are known by a single name are icons, then a place with No Name must be great! It is right in the warf and offers awesome views. The food is pretty good. I hope you enjoy the smell of fish because you will smell it. Unfortunately, I do not like the smell of seafood - so that is my problem.

Bob cooke

Eat here at your own risk. So dirty. Entrance literally smelled like death. Reference scary movie 2 thanksgiving scene. Will update this post if I am not sick tomorrowl. If I can save just one person this review will have been worth it.

Nancy Pierce Murano

Great seafood, and a table by the window!! Our server, Sofia, was wonderful and had such a cheerful way about her. We love this place. Just come and eat here - you won't be disappointed!!

Jason Kidney

Great food, great staff. Lobster Mac and cheese was

Sergey

Like my broiled sole, broiled scallops and broiled smelts. All was very fresh and very tasty. Thumbs up!

Wasn't busy.. had to interrupt the 2 male hostesses to ask for a seat after a minute of standing 2 feet from them waiting. The server was short on manners and not necessarily rude but not pleasant either.... the food was good, serving size was appropriate. They don't offer refills on anything but water... The menu was purely seafood, which I expected. Definitely wouldn't go out of my way for this place however it was highly recommended.. I'm not sure why though. Wouldn't return.

Emily Jaggernauth

We went and did not realize if you do not make a reservation you have to wait but they do not take your name. Being from out of town I wanted to experience something new with the Boston Culture. Boy was it bad. We waited in line and were told a few minutes over and over again. Then an older couple walked in and stood in the front of the line....they did not have reservation nor were they waiting there long. Then the owner comes back and asks for 2. My husband and I went to go as we were next and the older couple cut us and started walking with the guy. I tried telling the hostess that we were there first but he just apologized. Nope, no place is worth the aggravation. We later went to Strega Waterfront. This food was delicious and just the right proportion. Service was excellent as well.

This place is a must visit. The food is ‘simple’ and absolutely delicious. The broiled salmon and broiled mussels were delectable, the scallops, sumptuous and even the burgers were wonderful. The cole slaw that was served as a appetiser was …

Monica Le

Great seafood join. Very generous seafood portions, most I ever seen. I have mix feelings about the lobster Mac and cheese though. While I get loaded lobsters on the plate, it tasted like the lobsters were added on top of the Mac, not cooked together

Caleb Amy

Great serving of fresh tasty seafood. Prices similar to places which have names, but atmosphere is classic, low key, and good serving size.

Michael Nemeth

By far one of the worst meals I have ever paid for. The seafood chowder was gloves of fish in white water. Absolutely no taste. Place was a dump that smelled outside like rotten fish. The crab cake "special" was 3 frozen burned crab cakes on iceberg lettuce. Only decent thing was the draft beer. I mean literally terrible all around.

Sean Henrikson

I haven't been here in at least 30 years, when I was a kid with my parents and don't really remember what I had. This time, I was disappointed. I had the broiled scallops. They were fresh and the portion was above average for the price, probably 12-15 rather than 4-5 you get at most places but, when they say broiled scallops, that's what they mean. They were broiled scallops, and that's all. Not a dash of salt & pepper, no bread crumbs, garlic, herb or spice of any kind, just broiled scallops with a little oil or butter and a wedge of lemon. The "rice pilaf" served with it was definitely not any pilaf I've ever had. It looked and tasted like nothing more than a scoop of Uncle Ben's, flavorless white rice. It also came with some cole slaw, nothing special. My colleague had the fried scallops. They were definitely imported, probably from Asia, processed and frozen someplace else. The same unremarkable frozen scallops you would get at any local pizza shop. The ambiance was like a grungy old diner where the fishermen would go for lunch, except probably too expensive for fisherman. The service could have been a little more expedient and attentive as well. I would have liked another wedge of lemon but the server never came back after delivering the food. We also had to flag her down after a long wait after finishing to get the check. Overall, it was just okay. I wouldn't make it a point to go back. But, who knows, maybe in another 30 years?

Kevin Webb

Delicious seafood. I had the brioled scallops. My wife had the crab cakes. The friendly and attentive staff provided fast service.

Leann Eddingsaas

What a fun place! Be prepared to share your table with strangers because it's a small place and they are trying to seat everyone. The vibe is a blue collar community favorite. The amount of sides that come with your meal is crazy. Our waitress just kept bringing more food. Speaking of food - my best meal in Boston so far.

Robert Hollstein

Food was good, service not bad but don't expect this to be a high end restaurant. This is good food to enjoy in a relaxed but busy atmosphere. Good to try.

Emily Murtoff

Get their famous seafood chowder, and then get one of everything else on the menu too. I religiously come here every time I visit Boston because it is just so so good. Fresh seafood served right from the wharf with a view of seagulls and fisherman's boats. Last time we had the broiled swordfish, a Boston classic, and it was tender, meaty and delicious. Casual and noisy environment, with the occassional bus tour of lobster-eaters popping in.

I ate here on a whim on a 1-day business trip on October 17, 2004 -the very day the Red Sox started beating the Yankees in game 4 of the ALCS on their way to breaking the curse and winning the World Series. Epic day for that reason alone, …

I will never go back. The waitress was decent, but didn't know what draft beer was. The food was horrible. I ordered the fried shrimp. They were not breaded and not golden brown. I'm a Louisiana girl.. I know what shrimp is supposed to look like and that wasn't it. It was bland and had no flavor. My husband had the seafood platter and again, fried fish is not supposed to be white. The tartar sauce was disgusting.. 90% relish and no mayo. It was green. I knew going there was a mistake when I our food came out two minutes after ordering.

Padraic Ryan

My colleague was in town and wanted some 'authentic' Boston seafood. This place doesn't disappoint. If you are looking for a high-end Legal Seafood type experience, this isn't for you. This is kind of an old-school, no-nonsense family place. Most of the people eating there look like they have been coming here for 50 years which is always a good sign! Even met the parents of the Flogging Molly accordion player sitting next to us (he was VERY proud!). Anyway, the food is excellent, service is quick. Again, no frills, just good food, a nice view and fair prices. Clam Chowder and broiled platter are excellent.

Jo Hernandez

We went based on the reviews and was disappointed. The service was great, I wish I could say the same for the meal that I paid for. Very average at best. We returned the soup it taste water down. For dessert the rhubarb pie was store-bought quality. That was returned. The positive thing is we weren’t charged. The bread pudding I would not recommend, see the photo. Unfortunately we will not be going back.

Bridget M

The fried shrimp platter was very good. The portion was quite large. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. Only go if you are looking for somewhere to eat seafood.

Chuck Jackson

Wonderful service! Loved our server/waitress! The food is very good - not the best I've ever had but solid. The lobster roll provided a LOT of lobster - more than I've gotten other places and it was tasty. Not the best but good and a huge portion!

Cliff Burnham

Absolutely fantastic! While the dining room is small, the portions are enormous! The Lobster roll and the lobster Mac were each half the size of the table.

Charles Furman

The last time I was here was more than 25 years ago. Not much has changed. Service was excellent. Our server was polite. Food came out very quickly. Our server was Lambros. Seafood chowder was not hot. It was just barely warm enough to …

Ants NoNonsAnts

Cramped place, sewerage-like smell by the entrance (not the whole restaurant), chowder was basically just smashed fish in a soup plus a shrimp or two and was lacking salt (I don’t remember the last time I used a salt shaker at a restaurant), my waiter was rushing me (however the waitress at the neighbouring table was very nice), the Bluefish was over cooked and in desperate need of a sauce.. the tartare sauce came to the rescue but it was as sweet as I’ll have my tea so that was a strange flavour. The only food item I can rave about is the fries - they were perfect. All in all, it may be an iconic restaurant but the quality must have definitely been better once upon a time, now it doesn’t look like they care.

Steven Colantonio

Excellent seafood! My family took my fiance here to celebrate her graduation. My parents have been going here since the beginning and highly recommended it. The outside look can be decieving. It looks like a little hole in the wall stuck in a loading dock, but man does the food and service reflect only high quality. The staff enjoy their job, are very friendly, and show that they really care about what they do. All the food was delicious.

Michael Bach

One of the best kept secrets in Boston, Mass. Excellent broiled seafood. Good prices, you will not be disappointed. Come as you are attire. Draft beer.

Brandy Sprague

I was a little disappointed with my experience. I went with a friend from out of town who wanted a great lobstah roll. It was $28, and while it did include a ton of lobster, it was bland and not worth the money. I had seafood soup that was not very good and only included what I could assume was whatever fish parts they decided not to throw away. I know many people have had better experiences, so I may have gone on an off time, but I was not impressed for the prices charged. The waiter was great, so service was not an issue.

bare cove

Not what it used to be... Fish and chips, fish was thin and dry. Wife got fried clams after waitress said they were expensive but worth every penny. Had a flavor in the batter that my wife found unpleasant. Might be fine for tourist looking for something, not sure what it is but I didn't find what I was looking for.

Zara Ahmed

You know the lobster was caught literally two miles away when there's more lobster than bread, lettuce, and coleslaw combined in your roll. Fresh, delicious food, but the restaurant in packed and the waiters impatient - but get used to it, it's Boston!

Jakub Piech

Really good food! Worth visiting, and making reservation in advance. Excellent service and fresh seafood. Must visit restaurant with seafood in Boston! Nothing to complain about 5/5!

Taylor Mitchell

I've been going to the no name restaurant for many decades always for the same thing - seafood chowder. It is delicious and bursting full of great stuff to give you energy to burn and keep you going. Delicious

sandra wideman

I ate at this place and I will never go again. Coleslaw was disgusting they serve your meal with their fingers in your plate the server is sweating and dripping sweat in your food. They have you waiting for about an hour before you can be waiting on. It was not worth the wait. Very unsanitary

Lisa Dennis

Only giving the extra star because our waiter was exceptional, but the food was terrible. I knew it was going to have a bit of your standard"quick seafood" vibe similar to other shore locations in New England, but at least those have passable fare. My scallops were flavorless pucks and my husband's lobster mac had sizable lobster pieces but the meat was hard from the broiler or a heat lamp, and nothing was seasoned (including bland coleslaw and burnt "garlic" bread.) Wouldn't ever go back.

Brian Pedersen

Very average food. Barely any taste. Decent service but probably won't ever go again.
