Great place for breakfast and lunch, you just can not go by it. The outside looks very small, but as you walk into the front room, you see 2 dinning rooms to the right. A very friendly atmosphere, very relaxed and the wait staff is even more attentive then your mother. The meatloaf comes with mashed potatoes and a vegetable (3 choices), my husband loved this dish. I had a tuna melt on Italian bread, this was accompanied by fries. The tuna was a perfect consistency and without onions!!! That is a huge plus, since onions are not my thing. Breakfast is served all through lunch, and the platters going by me, to other tables, smelled and looked fantastic. We are recommending McKays because it is clean, has a great menu, the waitstaff is attentive ( like at your best friend's home), and is not a hole in a wall. An important item to consider when you want to feel as you are not just $$$ walking in the door.
Great food, great service, gets busy but they keep up with it. I eat here 6 times a week
EXCELLENT, prompt, and friendly service. I went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. The food came quickly and the wait staff was attentive. There seemed to be a lot of regulars. Homemade home fries that are crisped on the griddle. Family-friendly and reasonable prices. My main negative is you have to find parking on the street, which was rough with the snow. My omelette would benefit from a little more salt, too. Otherwise, I recommend this place! I'd go again if I was in the area!
Great lunch. LARGE portions. Meatloaf was Outstanding. If parking was better, easy 5 stars
Best pancakes, best Irish soda bread, best staff, best everything! Once we found McKay's we haven't gone anywhere else! I bring all my family here when they visit, there's always plenty of seating and everyone is always happy with the experience. Homemade corned beef hash brought us in, everything else has kept us coming back!
Great breakfast, never been disappointed in anything at McKays. Wait staff is prompt and food comes out tasty and hot!
Great food and portions it was a neighborhood spot you can tell. It was a little intimidating felt like a party i wasnt invited too. If i go again i will take it to go.
LOVE YOU GUYS...THANK YOU
Excellent food, friendly staff, very clean!!
Early Morning Special can't be beat.
Mediocre food with friendly staff. On the same level as IHOP but it can be convenient if you live nearby.
Very friendly staff, good menu options, city prices. Great view of historical Adams houses
Great for brunch and breakfast. Large portions and very tasty food.
Great food and friendly staff
Always great food and fantastic service!
Mckays Breakfast & Lunch is a nice, spacious breakfast place located in Quincy. I went on a Saturday afternoon with a group of five and to my surprise, there was no wait! The waiters and staff were very friendly and the food was inexpensive and good. I would definitely recommend this place to go with a group of friends or for a solo lunch. If I'm ever in the area again and craving breakfast, Mckays would be my first choice!
Absolutely love this place. Great food, staff and atmosphere. Parking can be difficult at times. Food is fantastic and always fresh. Portions are amazing and prices are decent. Only downside is the parking and the lack of cleanliness in this place. Still better than all of the breakfast places in Quincy!
Great food, friendly staff. Great atmosphere and wonderful coffee!
Awesome breakfast and service!
Excellent food, great job chef!
Very nice Irish breakfast
Great service and amazing people. I've been going for years and still find myself amazed at how great my food is every time.
Delicious food..good size portions. Cool beans.
After working out with Jessica of Motivated by Muffin at the LIFE Health and Fitness Center in Quincy, I decided to grab breakfast around the corner and found this place on Google. McKay's is large and comfortable and they offer your standard breakfast food (egg specials, pancakes, waffles, etc.). They also have lunch options that seemed tasty. I was with a group so I tried a little bit of everything (pancakes, scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, and hashbrowns). The portions were generous, everything was good, and the staff was really friendly. I'll definitely go back when I'm in the area.
Plenty of food fast service and delicious
Great staff great food
My husband and I come here for breakfast at least twice a month on the weekends and it's always good food and service. Wait time can be long sometimes but we've never waited more than 15 minutes (for 2 people). We usually get omelletes and pancakes and they're always delicious.
Can't beat the place for price quality and soze
Food is very good and the service is always friendly never a bad experience with this restaurant
Love them!
Great food and excellent staff and service. All the girls who work there are so nice.
Old fashioned diner. Friendly people and large portioned comfort food. I had American Chop Suey just like or better than grandma's!
Friendly staff and good coffee. There home fries below average....
Yummy Hash and eggs and friendly fun environment
Decent food, great service.
My husband and I took our grandsons out to breakfast this morning there choice was Mckay's . The waitress's were the greatest they were not only friendly but they always had a big smile on their face. The food was excellent and our waitress Loreen was the best and so accommodating ,thank you Loreen !!
Delicious food and fast, friendly service. I was impressed by how much food you get for the price. I got the Greek omlette and liked that there was a ton of spinach, but it also didn't skimp on the feta cheese. The home fries are delicious. The cinnamon raisin toast was also fantastic. My kids loved the food too.
Our favorite breakfast joint!
Love this place. The food is amazing and the staff are very friendly.
Our waitress and food was good
very pleasant experience, good food, friendly staff
Decent food. Hot coffee. Friendly staff.
The food is delicious and very fresh the servers are professional and the atmosphere is warm and positive
The perfect place for breakfast and lunch. The waitresses are wonderful. Irish to the corps. Glè mhath!
Awesomeness corn beef hash
Foods great to good made me hatemyself after we all know that feeling
Hey, first timer. So I was excited to find another local place for a great breakfast. Service was amazingly quick, felt like we had our food in 3 minutes, and it was packed. Great waitress. I wasn't thrilled with my hash, but the eggs were cooked perfectly over easy. The home fries were a little underdone for me as well. But I'm being super picky. Coffee was great however. . Cozy local place. I might go back for lunch sometime.
I lived around Quincy for 6 to in 7 yrs and I tried it for the 1st time last month me and my son go every week and he is only 5 and now i just took my 9yr old daughter today and she couldn't believe the size of the plates they give u with breakfast.... great place for all ages and very very friendly staff... 5 stars from me..
They deserve a 6,,, Called from school st. It was sitting on the table when I walked in!
They were very busy this morning, but the food and service was very good as usual.
Nice local spot for good food. It was hands down the best meat loaf I've ever had in my entire life.
This place is a role model for which all local diners should be. 1. Always friendly staff. If my current server Nicole gets any nicer or sweeter i’m going to lapse into a diabetic coma. One of the more accommodating people ever. 2. Food was fresh - quick - massive portions. I noticed a LOT of special orders - place was busy. I was expecting chaos. None. Nicole and the very friendly Irish lady (who looks like a Russian secret agent!!) were on top of their game! Kitchen guys were fast friendly and banging out the food like pros. I love this place and will continue to patronize here. Only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars? The veggies used in here aren’t fresh but frozen. No big deal - it’s small business economics and efficient.
Had a great Irish half breakfast. Just enough. Everything was delicious. Service was efficient. Short wait on Saturday morning 10, to be expected. So good. Going back...
Awesome place to get traditional Irish breakfast
Good food!!! Definitely worth of visit. But because of rushed environment around you, I’ll take a star off. Solid 4 stars breakfast place!
superior service, good food and average prices...very little on street parking
great breakfasts
Breakfast was great fresh eggs and sausages, potatoes atmosphere very homey and warm, delicious
Love McKay's. Food is always delicious, hot and great portions. The staff is awesome, always so pleasant. Never disappointed.
Very fast service. Nice & friendly service. Excellent home made food. Five star quality.
Excellent food and wonderful service....
It was good but sorry for your delivery truck broke down
Ever since I went as a kid, I have loved McKays. Great service, friendly staff, and amazing food.
Corned beef and cabbage dinner excellent
Not a fan. Food was ok. Waitress was good. place had some sort of smell to it. Most likely will not be returning
Nice, good food, decent price, homey basic comfort food. Go early, this place is a busy local favorite, the line piles up fast! Can be quite a wait!
Basic breakfast spot but good food and fast service.
Service was great and they definitely make the best Belgian waffle in town
Great breakfast and lunch food.
Lovely little spot for breakfast, nothing fancy just simple food and good portions. Lovely servers too. You can be a tourist across the road, John Adams homeplace is right across the road!
Quincy,s hidden jewel. Friendly staff. Outstanding food.
Breakfast was delicious. The home fries made with real red potatoes was such a treat. So many places going with those mini version of French fries it was just nice to see there are still places putting in the kind of effort that truly makes the difference. The staff was top notch too. You will not regret a visit here.
Big plate breakfast that puts me into a coma, top 5 home fries in Quincy
The waitress was good but the food was pretty awful. The potatoes were cut too big and were too soft. It was like a plate of boiled potatoes instead of home fries. No crunch, no seasoning (other than salt... Lots and lots of salt ) the cheese omelette was also unbelievably salty and not very good. There was too much cheese. (never thought I'd complain about that)
Fast friendly service, very generous portions, great veggie omlet!
Great spot in quincy
First time at this diner. The staff was very welcoming and the guest were great - even though I came in wearing a Philadelphia Eagles shirt! The food was cooked exactly as I asked and was very delicious. I think this may become a regular spot for me.
Great food and service
Great breakfast!
I literally just walked out of Mckays and absolutely loved it! Our Server Kathy was aaaaaaaaamazing! She made what i was craving happen! I asked for a i dont know the correct name but i call it a French toast stuffed with fruit. Its sliced french toast with powdered sugar, a fruit of your choice right on top and whip cream If they have like that strawberry syrup not sure exactly which one but i have had it before and it made it even better but this worked perfect! Here is a picture.
We had a great breakfast there. Thanks a lot.
Pretty good little hole in the wall to get breakfast. Reasonable prices and good coffee.
Service is awsome food is awsome
Food was good (sausage omelette). It was pricer than I use to but I would go again to check out the country man platter next. It was busy when I went so be prepared to wait.
Very home ,like feel servers were out standing and happy ,very fast service, even with a crowd .
Great breakfast, huge portions and friendly staff.
This place is great the food and service is amazing. The coffee is on point and the pancakes are light and fluffy. My son gets them in the shape of Micky Mouse he loves it. I really enjoy the atmosphere
All their food is very good but the fish and chips really good prices are very reasonable they give great portions well worth the money
Good service, great pancakes!
Mom and I needed some serious nourishment. Looked up food spots in Quincy, MA for breakfast and found McKays. HAPPY that I did, coffee was good, Mom loved her banana pancake (they are big friends, so look before you leap), I had the Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. Plenty of bacon when ordering a side of them, and Eilis our waitress was Great. Will definitely return when in the area.
Excellent service, good breakfast and great environment!
Got hash n eggs w side o bacon. Generous portion of red skin potato home fries, Scali toast, bacon perfectly crisp. Will come back w friends for sure!
Really good food and service. The home fries were undercooked, but it's common in busy breakfast places
WOW, a great place for Breakfast, great food and great staff!!
We went for brunch on a Sunday morning. We got there early so there was no wait, but when we were leaving it was very busy, plenty of people waiting for a seat. The food was delicious! I had some amazing french toast and sampled my partner's country breakfast that was also good. They could use a better syrup though.
Great place good special s slot for your money try it you'll like it
From others experiences I've heard, I expected to enjoy this place, but have to say I was quite disappointed. Came in on a Sunday before noon and the place was packed. Long wait to be seated, and longer wait to be served. I get it, it's a large place with a small kitchen. The problem was the food. Home fries were undercooked and uncomfortably greasy, grilled English muffins tasted like they had been drenched in butter. Their omelettes were a good portion size, but mediocre in taste. Left feeling just off, like the food didn't settle well.
Floaty things in my water were pretty gross. But otherwise the waitress did great handling our large group!
Good food, good value
The servers helped each other and it was so nice and the food was delicious I'll definitely be back
Great food. Large portions. Great wait staff
A local favorite that's mobbed on the weekends during brunch hours. The hostess was extremely accommodating for my group of 7 that I called in ahead of time. Food took nearly 40 min because it was so busy, but it was worth the wait! Portions were huge and nothing was overly greasy. Bacon and homefries were perfectly crispy and everyone loved the grilled Irish soda bread. Kudos to our college-aged waitress who provided amazing service!
Good food. Very busy place so be ready for a wait.
Food was good
I absolutely love this place. I always get the eggs Benedict and it’s always amazing!
I stopped here for breakfast and it's a really friendly place that feels like something that could have been featured in the The Andy Griffith show. Great food and old rural America hospitality.
Twice a week usually ;-) Great Service and Good Home Cookin Breakfast.
Just off a plane from san francisco.. coming home for the holiday.. was our first visit to MCKAYS but not our last. Food was great. Portions generous, prices easy on our family of five and the only thing better was the service. I own three restaurants in San Francisco bay area. If I could I'd bring the staff back so they could show our folks what genuine hospitality is. LOVED IT
Great New England Breakfast. Great service. Although the locals sure know the out of Towners and are less than cordial it would seem. Hope to have a chance to get back to McKays
Undercooked hash browns!!!
Always a good breakfast and friendly service.
Great good, great prices, big portions, friendly wait staff and surprisingly no wait!
Best fresh seafood platter I've had in a long time!
Good solid meals! Love the Irish breakfast! Love the country baked ham & eggs! Very accommodating, they substituted a banana instead of home fries for my breakfast. They have great fish & chips too! Great service, very friendly and attentive! Jamie & Linda will have you in tears from laughter with their witty banter!! Definitely a good place to try!
Corned beef and hash was decent
This is a great little place to eat. They fill the plate and it taste great. Waitresses are very nice and polite. It is just all around t terrific place to spend your morning and enjoy your food and your neighbors company
Counter service from Linny was great. Food, conversation, and laughing completed the morning. Clearly a Quincy winner!
Family friendly and fast service
Always great
I kept hearing about how great this place is so I was excited to go here. The service was great but the food wasn't anywhere near as good as I had heard. The eggs weren't cooked how I asked the bacon wasnt crispy, the pancakes we're extremely doughy and lacked flavor. I can't really recommend McKay's to anyone unless you just want good service.
Great...breakfast was delicious
The breakfast doesn't stand out to me, but it's not bad either. It's spacious but also gets very crowded so don't go if you want a relaxing breakfast. They have a couple menu items that most breakfast joints don't have that are good but other than that they don't offer a lot of variety. It's good for the typical breakfast but not if you're in the mood for trying out something unique. I would still go again but I think Craig's and Quincy Cafe are better Quincy breakfast places. A plus is that parking is easy to find on nearby streets by McKay's as opposed to a place like Craig's
Fantastic food and service. Love this place!
Good food
Delicious food! Welcoming staff. Best pancakes around!
I've never had a better fish and chips. There was easily 1.5 pounds of fish. It was very tasty.
Excellent service
Great food. One of my favorite breakfast diner's locally. Open for dinner Thurs and Fri. Best fish and chips and prime rib. ❤
The service and food was awesome. I will definitely go back.
Really good. Seated and served quickly and the food was fantastic.
So disappointed today - arrived at McKays at 2:30pm (says their open till 3pm) - it was horrible - nothing worse than cold coffee - then asked for a refill - no more coffeee ... station shut down (2:40pm) runny eggs, barely cooked asked for OE- asked for well done bacon (practically raw - grill was already shut down
This place is always great!!! Excellent food, wonderful staff. Just overall a great experience!!!
Love coming here for breakfast. Can accommodate for large parties. Team is friendly, breakfast is great.
Our meal here could not have been more pleasant. We had flown all night and had hoped to make it to Quincy for breakfast. Unfortunately, because of our delayed flight (thanks United... not!) we made it to town for an early lunch. The people here were very friendly. The waitress explained a few items to us California folks who don't eat fried clams all that often. Each of us enjoyed our meal. I was a bit disappointed in the clams, however, as they lacked any kind of spice in the batter. As it turns out, we came back by here to visit John Adams' early home across the street.
Great food and service. A great variety of dishes.
Today was our first time at McKay's. Food and service we're awesome! We will be going back!
This place was ridiculously good and has massive portions, I got the chocolate chip pancakes and homemade corned beef hash which I would highly recommend the friend I went with got the traditional Irish breakfast and I was extremely and highly jealous of his food.... The service is awesome super quick
With quick service and a friendly staff, McKay's offers a delicious selection of food that makes you feel right at home.
Very good food and plenty of it. Very nice and friendly waitress'.
The food was amazing, the quality and plate sizes were perfect!...and the cook Carlos was unbelievable!... thanks to Mr. McKay for the food and great customer service as well. We totally love this place and is definitely worth the drive from New Jersey to Boston!... we'll be back soon!
Food taste so delicious and staff is friendly.
Food’s great, but Sundays are absolutely slammed. Only a four star because of extended waits both times I’ve eaten here.
Always have a great meal at McKay's.
Excellent food. The fish cakes are hand made and delicious. I had the fish cakes and beans. It is perfect food for a cold wintery day. Try the grilled soda bread too. You will love it.
Fab food at great prices and marvelous friendly staff.
Fast food great service what you want in a good breakfast place
Never disappointed. The grilled soda bread is a great side.
Lots of food great specials
Best breakfast around. Be patient, though. Lots of seating, little tiny kitchen so it can take a while for your food to come when the place is busy. Well worth the wait. Big hearty meals, friendly staff, highly recommended
Best breakfast sandwiches and best take out service.
I enjoyed meeting a friend in the old neighborhood. Food was good; service was fast and friendly and they have updated the decor. Very nice!
Great food & people
I would definitely call this a hidden Jewel of Quincy they have the best of the best when it comes to breakfast hiding in there many times definitely give it a try the prices and good and the service is quick but don't go Sunday morning because it is jammed with people go on a weekday and you'll get in easier
Great variety, excellent service.
Great place. Home cooking by a great cook! U won't be disappointed!!
omg cant say enough about my favorite place and the people WOW...….! (CHEERS) the famous place in Boston well...……..just lets say the story continues. Smiles P.S Jean and daughter Nicole are extra AWSOME.
Good place for a quick bite
