This Restaurant belongs to the category of New American restaurant.
Corned beef hash was an absolute disappointment!! Do not get this. We were a party of 8 and 6 of us got the corned beef hash. There was no sign of corned beef! It was shredded potatoes with a cut up hard sausage. Never mind the eggs. Just horrible - if you go here...do not get this dish!
Great shrimp beignets. Superb in-house ginger beer and broad beer selection. Comfortable environment - interesting music playing but not so loud that you can't hear the conversation at your table. And, reasonable prices and friendly, attentive service. I like Local 149!
Service is good, but not the food... It's edible, obviously, but not good. Beer selections seem to be decent though. Won't be going again.
My favorite summer restaurant when walking around Castle Island and along Carson beach. Ideal for Sunday brunch or early dinner. Skip Sullivan's and eat at Local 149 to reward yourself after long beach walks with special someone. Lamb burger or fish tacos for dinner with friends or choose one of the mains if on a date. Eggs Benedict or tuna burger for brunch. If you are tourist get the deep fried Fluffernutter for a decadent dessert.
Great menu, drinks, and service!
The food, drinks, and service were all amazing. I can't wait to go back.
Fried food and local beers. Great.
Unimpressed food, beverage options, and insulting behavior. Attempting to have craft beer selection however the options seem to be more interested in sounding foreign and upcharging than actually having quality. I also heard the bartender making a off color remark about how they keep the beer pretentious to keep the locals out. Not really sure if I'll return, I don't want to be asscioated with an establishment that thinks that cool kid vibe matters over quality food and hospitality. Having your head stuck up your ass is a horrible business practice, it's only costing you money.
Wow, my wife had the cod special and it was incredible. Understand that I am a freshness freak when it.comes to fish. Marine biologist and I usually don't eat fish unless I catch it, or I buy it off the dock. This fish was very fresh, perfect really. Service was polite and fast, my shepard's pie was lively and good.. Great beer selection.
Really loved their neighborhood atmosphere .. Food and service was outstanding
Great local spot, awesome beers on tap!
This place is awful. Overpriced beers, overpriced food, and understaffed restaurant. I was there last weekend. I was placed at a table that may have been an appropriate size for the Barbie Dream house...but for a 6 foot 2 guy, it was a tad on the miniscule size. The place was overcrowded with hipsters and loudmouths. The waitress that we had, who didn’t show up for a solid 10 minutes, decided that the girl I was with didn't want her Cider on the table, that apparently a more befitting place for said Cider was my right shoulder and leg. As the boozy apple flavored concoction cascaded all over me, I decided this wasn't the place for me. I drank my $4 dollar can (!) of Bud Light, and left. She made no apology, and even charged for the drink. Unreal terrible. I cannot recommend this place to anyone, and my scorn for this establishment shall be heard throughout the interwebs.
Great food and beer selection. I can always find something I want to eat on their menu (if I’m not getting the mac n cheese bites again), and a beer to match it. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff to go with it, no complaints. Except the chili nachos. I miss those REAL bad.
Get the hog wings...you can't go wrong.
Always a good time
Solid drinks and atmosphere.
Food, service and atmosphere all awesome!!
I love their deviled eggs bar snacks. It's a great atmosphere with a neighborhood feel. They have a variety of menu options and fun drink options as well.
Maps is going different place, first enter is correct
Had beer, the grilled squid for an appetizer, and their chicken and waffles. All were very delicious, but the squid was particularly good. Service was above average.
Nice place.
The dishes and glasses on our table were all dirty, though the waitress didn't seem to think so when she finally offered us water 20 minutes after we were seated. The beer I first got was flat and due to the waitress taking for ever I eventually had to go to the bar for a replacement, that was the case for our second round of drinks as well. They were out of the lamb burger I wanted, so I settled for a hamburger which was good but over cooked. My girlfriend got the parmesan crusted cod and that was very good. The place had a good vibe, a cool decor, and we were really excited for our experience but it fell very short of our expectations, the service was awful. I'd like to give the place another chance but it probably won't be all that soon.
Delicious restaurant. I recommend going for lunch and dinner, as the breakfast menu isn't my personal favorite. I love the chalk tables that you can write on or play games with while you wait. Beer selection is pretty good.
Excellent Service, Food was awesome and delicious, worth its price! 5*
The Thai Asian noodles and steak salad was delicious. It had avocado, tomatoes and mango all mixed in. Very unique pub. Friendly staff. Loved it.
Went for brunch on a Sunday during a visit to Boston. Food was good and full of flavor. Wasn't thrilled with my cocktail which had champagne and was served over ice. When I asked the bartender to strain it, I ended up with a quarter glass of the beverage. The problem was the ladies room which is in the basement. Halfway downstairs, there was an overpowering smell of garbage. Overall, I did enjoy the food and would go back.
Went here for brunch/early lunch. Pretty solid food.
You may have to wait to get a table but its worth the wait. Pretty solid place all around.
Good food, good beer, good service. Excellent local place.
Nice comfort food and beer. Good for a cosy night.
Wonderful neighborhood spot - even though this isn't my neighborhood! We make the trek out to Southie regularly to nosh on their delicious bar bites, indulge in one of their tasty cocktails, and peruse the seasonal menu. The decor is a bit off-beat and funky, but still very tasteful and fun, and the staff is really friendly and accommodating. For the most important stuff: the drinks are solid (though the cocktail list doesn't change as much as I would like), the beer list passes the test of my beer-geek BF, and the food is comforting and delicious. Can't go wrong here.
Chicken fingers weren't very good.
Great beer list and bar bites
Interesting food that's seriously delicious. I want to go back here all the time. Great cocktails, too. Brunch is fantastic.
(Translated by Google) Very rich everything. Mexican with an American touch or maybe the other way around. (Original) Muy rico todo. Mexicano con un toque americano o quizá al revés.
Good food and atmosphere
Nice pub in southie the food is very good
The bloodys and white sangria are amazing. The menu has so many choices from delicious snacks to yummy entrees. Love the staff too!
Dined here alone and experienced really great service even with the place fully packed. Their tacos weren't anything amazing, but their fried fluffernutter (fried sandwich with peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, and Nutella) in itself is worth a second visit. Definitely would recommend visiting Local 149, even if it's just for the dessert!
yum
Great bar snacks and huge sandwiches, burgers. They need to get more local craft lines and rotate then more often
Great beer list. As far as food goes, definitely get the mac and cheese fritters. Good variety of options on the menu, and it rotates seasonally. Fun and funky decor.
Great food and great staff but can be loud at times
Great selection of beers. Great atmosphere. Food was pretty good. We got the burger and tacos. The portion seemed a bit small for the tacos. Would definitely return regularly if I'm in the area and I needed a place to eat or grab drinks, but wouldn't go out of my way to come.
Loved it
Chicken and Waffles, followed by the Fried FlufferNutter is perfect for a fat kid Saturday
Great service
Very loud music. Food good but limited after lunch menu. Would not go out of my way to return. Staff was very nice. Ladies room was definitely not nice. Dirty, toilet paper missing from one stall, no lock on another
Had the absolute worst experience at this restaurant. Came in around 3pm with a group of 4, not very busy but seemed lively. Get seated, no one greets us or even brings us menus for 20 minutes. At this point a busser comes over saying our waitress is held up, we ask for a menu and she gives us one and walks off. Comes back 15 minutes later and asks if we want to order drinks (still the busser, still saying our waitress is busy), we order 3 beers (Does not card us). We put in our food and drink orders. Two of the 4 dishes we order are delivered 30 minutes later but no drinks for another 10 minutes (Been there an hour and 15 mins at this point). NOW our elusive waitress FINALLY shows up and says "Hi, i'm your waitress, can i get you anything" with us responding "No.. we kinda already ordered", she rolls her eyes and walks off. The rest of the food NEVER comes and she's nowhere to be found! One of us literally has to track her down to bring the bill because most of us are done and just want to leave. Specifically ask for separate checks, she comes back with 1 check and tells us to circle who's is who's and gives us no pen to do so! Luckily there's chalk at the tables (For God knows what reason!) so we did it that way. She comes back around and we've FINALLY have had enough and ask to speak to the manager because this is literally the worst service we've ever had (As politely as possible). And I'm going to note here I've never felt the need to do that before. I even usually still leave a tip if the service or food wasn't great (Not this time). And the manager comes over, and instead of apologizing makes the excuse that they were switching from the brunch to the dinner menu "so it was just a bad time". What does that even mean?!? The stuff we ordered was the same stuff on the dinner menu anyway, just basic apps! He said they would comp some of our stuff as a result but when the bill came again they didn't take anything off. We just wanted to get out of there so we paid for the overpriced food and left. Will never be back.
If you are looking for creative and hard to find ingredients with an authentic old distillary feel, Local 149 is a gem. They change their menu seasonally and the courses can be simple oysters and corn on the cod, to hog wings and duck burgers. They never let you down with the rare menu, extraordinary selection of beers, and atmosphere. Often busy Thur-Sun, this is a nice date night spot during the week. Close to Day drive, there is plenty of free parking and don't forget to have a Delirium Tremens for me.
Awesome Shepherd pie. A few of the menu items listed are no longer available... Check the websote before you embarrass yourself pronouncing porchetta for naught
Taco Tuesday here is great! The papas and chicken are legit
His wife

Great local bar, game is always on ,great place
A cool hang out for food and drinks in the City Point area. For brunch, the breakfast tacos are great and for dinner go with the Steak Tips!
Great vibes and good local brew variety
Great food and beer selection, the service was friendly and prompt.
Went for brunch. Lots of good options, though not your traditional brunch fare. Would go again.
Pretty good, not as amazing of a beer selection as I was expecting. I can't attest to the food since when I arrived the kitchen was closed.
Really good food and beer selection. Definitely worth stopping in.
Very cool vibe, very good food, lots of local beer selections. There's a decent amount of veggie options on the menu and the crew was very friendly and accommodating with making certain dishes vegan.
Service does take too long, but he atmosphere is really nice. Wait staff is friendly.
Good menu and attentive staff. Sunday game days for Patriot fans.
My roommate and I came here for dinner after walking around Castle Island. Nothing but great things to say about this place - The food menu was one of the best I've ever seen. We even ordered food to take home with us because there were so many great menu items we couldn't decide! The cocktails were excellent and the beer menu was impressive. Also big shout out to our server Marlina, she was so friendly, helpful and attentive. All of the staff seemed great and the manager walked around to greet all the tables. This also seems like a great bar to hang out at at night.
Not bad! We enjoyed the pimento cheese macfritters and the breakfast tacos were very good!
Great food. Great space. Went for brunch. Was quiet as it was Christmas Eve. Sat by the fire. Started off with a Manhattan. The bartender sure knows how to make a good one. The Mac & Cheese fritters were an excellent appetizer. Had the Brunch Burger, which was very good and not tiny by any means. The home fries were nicely spiced and there was plenty. You definitely get your money's worth. First time there and would definitely go back.
Awesome! Loved it!
The food was amazing and the recommended wine parings were spot on.
So cozy! The fireplace was excellent and the drinks as well.
They fast and food is good.
Nice change of pace from the Broadway scene. Also a nice space. Nothing like the Farragut House. Perfect size for location.
Did brunch and it was pretty solid. Tasty bloody marys, mimosas. Had a crazy dish with shaved steak, eggs, and cheese that honestly made me wish I was hungover.
Great Harpoon IPA selection
Just perfect
Local 149 was a great local find, and recommended by the bartender at the L Street Tavern. I got the burger, but... It was great. Get the waffle fries and enjoy the Wale Tale on tap. Great place.
Excellent food and great beer selection. Anyone that calls the beers overpriced aren't from Boston!
Nice place to have brunch. Fantastic service, very kind and nice. Good beers.
Just ordered mussels in cream sauce and tempura asparagus! Outrageous! The grilled baguette to dip, was over the top! Grade A addition to Southie!!!
Excellent food, great location, decent draft list
Great Sunday brunch! Try the French toast or short ribs and poached eggs
Did take out here. Got chicken and waffle. They did not give me any napkins, syrup or utensils. Chicken was extremely dry and salty as well.
Awesome local hangout for great food and drinks!
Excellent lamb burger
Fun little bar with a creative food menu and interesting beers on tap.
What a great place. Popped in to watch the US team win the world cup. Amazing bloody mary and awesome beer selection. Food looked amazing and looking forward to stopping in for Taco Tuesday
Great food and atmosphere. Enjoyed our dinner.
This use to be a great place in southie to get good food without being packed like many other places in southie. They have recently changed their menu and it leaves much to be desired. It feels like this once great and classic eatery is now trying to be something it’s not. All of the reasons that I would send friends and family here are now gone. Such a shame! Stop trying to be so fancy and stick to what you know!
Simple but not bad
Apple cider was amazing.... M
Food is amazing and the menu is changing. They seem to keep the favorites so don't worry about your favorite meal not being there next time. Chicken and waffles are amazing and so is the lamb shank. I highly suggest the mac n cheese balls. Atmosphere is great. Laid back, chalk so you can draw on the table tops. Great choices of beverages at the bar. Mixed drinks and craft beer. Tends to be busy on the weekends and for brunch. I suggest reservations for those times but most other days you can walk in and be seated within a few minutes. This is a go to for date night in southie.
Small but really great staff. A really great local bar experience.
Food is legit
Loved the fireplace near the tables Amazing happy hour options and prices Great portions Delicious food especially the tacos Yummy desserts and cocktails Definitely a treat on a cold night
Remember the first time you had a barbecue chicken pizza and you were like "Woah! BBQ sauce instead of regular sauce, WHAT!?" Local 149 has its Rancho Chicken pizza. One morning someone woke up and said, "Screw the marinara, let's go with Ranch instead... and throw some bacon on there too. And a ton of cheese. Also chicken." God bless them.
Great food got the skirt steak that was fantastic and decently priced. service was fast and had a friendly bartender. Would recommend to everyone.
Great place to watch the Patriots game
Awesome place! Great beer great people!
Good food, good atmosphere!
Great brunch menu and beer selection. Staff is friendly and welcoming.
Sour beer was quite good, service for food order a bit slow
Small place, good local joint with good bartenders and good waitresses. Alive during Pats games, little slow otherwise
Nice dining experience. Great food!
Good Sunday brunch.
Fantastic menu, service and ambiance. I recommend the oysters and fish tacos. There's a great local neighborhood vibe here and the quality of the food will impress. It can get a little loud at prime times.
Loved the waffle fries!
Great menu and drink selections. Can write on the chalkboard tables!
Good food, for decent prices. And the waitress was super awesome. I will recommend it to my friends when they come yo Boston.
Visiting our daughter we decided to visit Local 149 for some apps and a drink. What a great place, with a warm and welcoming neighborhood feel, plus great classic artwork. The apps were great and we were amazed at the draft beer selection. The service was top notch and very knowledgeable. We'll definitely stop by again when we're in town to this neighborhood gem.
Excellent food. Great waiter. Nice atmosphere.
Good beer selection, big portions
My buddy and I came in and were immediately greeted by a smiling host. Then we were sat with our server Alexandra, she was very knowledgeable and helped us make our choices. We chose chix tacos and a cheeseburger. Both were astounding and tasted delicious. Highly recommend both the food and Alexandra.
If you are looking for a restaurant that is constantly changing their menu and beer selection, this is the place to go. The food is always amazing and I'm always surprised by the beer list, especially if you are an IPA fan. The atmosphere is outstanding and full of energy, even on a weeknight. The staff is also super friendly. The only downside is that it is a little overpriced and off the beaten path in South Boston. Definitely a gem worth visiting though. If they are available, try the macaroni balls and bacon wrapped scallops. You can wash it down with a Bear Republic IPA.
Great vibe, great service and great food. Definition of a local watering hole.
I absolutely love the brunch here. The drinks are cheap and soooo good! Service is excellent as well.
The food is Overpriced. I paid $16 for 2 fish tacos dinner. My sangria did not had to much flavor. My friend got a special meal for $20 and it was a tiny. A dinner for 2x $65 and we were hungry. Overall nice place, good music, great waitress. Tip : Maybe you can offer some chips and salsas.
Great little neighborhood restaurant and pub
Great brunch!
Limited menu but all very good. Service was very slow the night we went. I ordered a drink during the meal and it didn't show up until we had finished and needed the check. Food was good and the house-made ginger beer is awesome. Can get loud inside though
Awesome experience the first time we ate breakfast here, but the 2nd time was horrible. We were ready to order within 2 minutes of being seated, but the waitress didn’t take our order until about 15 minutes later. There were only two other tables on that half of the restaurant who arrived after us and got their orders taken and delivered before ours. I had to remind the staff for my cup of coffee when they brought the food out. There was also NO warning that they RAN OUT OF HOME FRIES by 11:30am on a Saturday...and they gave me undercooked fries instead. If we ever come back, it’ll be right at opening to actually get service and the food we order
Good food. Wings in particular. Good bar
Best lamb burger iver had
Great food and atmosphere.
Great Beer Selection. Food was good bar food.
Thanks for everything Lauren
Good atmosphere. Food bland and and overpriced.
If you want to be able to have a location that is both enjoyable peaceful and exciting at the same time, look no further. This is it
Great beer selection, tasty apps
Great service, unique and delicious meals
Food is always solid and on point. Staff is on the ball. Atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Clientele is unpretentious. Came in at 9:30 pm on a mid- May Saturday night and there were plenty of bar seats and not much of a wait for a table compared to other nights. Price is in line for the quality of food, location, level of service, and ambiance. You always know you're going to eat and drink well when you go to Local 149.
decently priced food. fun atmosphere
Great Southside (semi)hidden gem
The atmosphere is fun and energetic
Fun local spot. Tuesday trivia popular and a good time!
Outstanding staff and management.
Great neighborhood pub, just better! High-quality pub menu includes interesting & pleasantly surprising combinations. Tasteful decoration, huge (and very good) bar at the centre, inviting you to mingle with the crowd...
They charged us for executive brunch drinks even though that's not what we ordered...the food was good though
Great vibe, great beer selection, fun ever-changing menu. I highly recommend the hog wings or anything on the bar menu.
Great selections of beers !
Great food and drinks
Food was good, host (who might be owner/manager) was fun and friendly. Great vibe and decor.
Service was rather slow but the food was good. Pretty loud but not impossible to talk.
Great local hangout. If you don't have rez be prepared to wait. Very good craft beer list and good food.
Great beer taps and awesome food. Must have the hog wings!
Bueno para brunchs. Platos contundentes.
