Nice decor and good service. The food is a little pricey but pretty good. I had the scallops which I thought was cooked to great bounce and texture. My wife had the escargot starter and she mentioned it was ok. We had a good time there.

Quite disappointing. Onion soup ok. We both ordered duck confit and the duck legs were NOT confit at all...rather just roasted. The foie gras was excellent however. Good service. Decor very sad and drab. Oh well!

A delicious little treat in Washington Square. Beautifully prepared French cuisine in perfectly sized portions. Strong wine pairings too. It can get pricy, but we noticed there were some great values on the menu too. We brought another couple out with us when we both had babysitting for 3 hrs on a Friday night...a great and nautically (nod to the classic nautical decor) enjoyable parent's night out.

First class food and service in a brasserie, meaning a little bit noisy and informal atmosphere--just as it should be. My wife and I shared a roast cod dish and a classic steak-frites, both excellent. She also had the escargot (I can vouch only for the garlic butter as I don't particularly care for the snail itself. Only a small sample of the basics, but they get that right. We don't live in the area so we haven't tried anything else, yet.

The restaurant was lovely and the wait staff very attentive. The beef was flavorful and tender and the salmon was cooked perfectly. The onion soup was the best I've had in a while and the bread was warm and crusty. The entire experience was quite lovely and quite French.

This restaurant has almost no options for vegetarians (certainly no entree options). I went here for a work function. Everyone else loved their food, but as a vegetarian, I was left wanting. The restaurant is lovely though.

Bite size. Happy hour? Come already fed or you'll be hungry. $4 dollar happy hour menu is a bite size. Nice cheese options. Wifi is non existent here and also my cellphone internet connection was interrupted.

La Voile is a small and tasty French restaurant in Brookline's Washington Square area. Service was friendly and efficient. My seared scallops over risotto was excellent. And, they apparently play French movies upstairs some week night! Recommended!

Unfortunately the experience was unsatisfactory. Food took over two hours to be served. Several dishes were cold, frites soggy, etc. Compensation following several apologies was a ten dollar discount on a $560 bill.

Second time at this restaurant (Brookline location)...Overall experience was'n bad...but what was shocking the most was the fact that our waitress who was very kind and sweet looked like she just got out of bed, put on some shaggy clothes and came to work to wait tables. She stood out because other waiters were dressed in black attire except for her. For a restaurant of that caliber with white cloth and and an expensive cuisine she should've been dressed up for her role.

I’ve eating here a few times and wow the quality of the food has significantly gone done. My meal was undercooked and I had too send it back twice ! I asked for refund and was refused. The owner alexerandra only cares about the money in her pocket rather than the experience and quality of food. Quite comical.

Went to try the Foie Gras, but when we ordered it, they served the appetizer portion not the main course. It was not very good. Service was good but pricey for the food.

We had a great lunch with us ordering the cod and the chicken for our main dishes. The food melted in our mouths and the various flavors were a treat for the palate. Our only issue which was minor was that the desert trio had two delicious mini deserts, but the mini canoli was overdone and had a bitter taste. The creme brulee was suburb and the raspberry sorbet was refreshing.

Food wasn't horrible but wouldn't go back again. The place have a weird musky smell, reminds me of an old mop. The duck confit was just dry and overcooked and burnt on the sides. The escargot was very bland. The creme brulee custard was granulated.

If you find yourself in Brookline a trip to La Voile will be one way to spend a meal. The prices won't break your bank but the flavors may cause some disruption, in a good way. If you try to onion soup be sure to ask for it to be extra hot, ours was served a bit cold.

We had an excellent meal here. The staff and service are prompt and attentive. We came here with a Groupon for two prix fixe meals. Dish by dish breakdown: Foie gras terrine: served with a sort of raisin toast, an apple sauce, and a simple salad, the former 3 we ate together. I'm not a huge foie gras fan but the dish was very nice. The apple sauce in particular is excellent and the restaurant uses it for a variety of dishes. Cod: every aspect of this dish was outstanding. The cod is super fresh and cooked to flaky, melt-in-your-mouth perfection. The accompanying garnishes work together with perfect synergy. Probably the best fish dish I've had for at least a year. Beef bourguignon: the better of two Boston implementations of this classic that I've had. The sauce is very savory and I think serving the dish with basmati rice is an excellent touch, with the aromatic rice melding with the flavor of the sauce. Definitely better than potatoes! Some parts of the beef were a little dry, but the sauce kind of took care of that. Tartine au chocolat: I've had better chocolate lava cakes in my time, but this one was still pretty good; would still try a different dessert next time. I feel like they could use more/better chocolate. Altogether, 4.5 stars. Rounded up to 5 because the cod entree was so memorable.

The food was really just mediocre. The swordfish was chewy and all the sauces bland. Our server was rude, rushed the meal and ignored our request to find out if an item on the menu had pork in it. Truly disappointing
