Being generous with 4 stars since it was my first time going there and got food to go, which is never quite as good as in the restaurant since things can get steamed in to go containers... Spinach and cheese quesadilla and guacamole were both very fresh and good - quesadilla just a tad soggy from container.

My bf and I came here with a deep craving for Mexican food. The best thing about this place is the atmosphere (it's very cozy) and the fast service. That being said, the food comes out SO fast that it makes me think everything is pre-prepared and microwaved. I got the Fiesta Grande and he got the Bistec a la Mexicana (or something like that). Everything was heavy and a bit bland. My food all tasted the same despite being three separate items and his steak was missing some salt. Overall, I feel like the food was missing a freshness that I really love about other Mexican food I've had.

Not bad for East Coast Mexican. Overpriced, like everything else in Cambridge. Having lived in Texas and experiencing Mexican food in SoCal and Mexico, I'll take a pass next time. But if you have a craving for a margarita and some reasonably authentic Mexican, just go for it.

This was the worst food ive had in a long flippin time the only perk was the waitress was super nice. The food we ordered was microved I watched the cook cook it he even microwaved my Wal-Mart bought ortega hard shells as if that would make them feel more authentic. The slapped everything with cheese and undercooked my meat. Now normally after one bad experience I dont bash a place but you can look at this hole in the wall and just tell this is not the good hole in the wall its the worst kind. If you go here bring vomit bags along with you cause if you dont at first later you wiiiiiiiiiill.

Fabulous urinating experience. A small but unique spot with a lot of privacy. With only one restroom per gender available and margaritas flowing with the intensity of the Nile one would expect a crowded lavatory. Have no fear, optimized to the location's smaller size, you'll have no issues completing your business in private.

I walked in and sat at the bar around 3pm. Nobody came out or was around anywhere. I stayed for about 10 minutes and just left because nobody ever acknowledged that I was even there. After reviewing the menu, I saw they didn't have what I wanted to eat anyway.

Nice place. Very colorful. A house divided up into multiple small spaces,.so you feel kind of "in your own space" while still surrounded by people. Nice food, nice drinks and friendly service. I'd recommend booking ahead.

Love this spot. The decor and neighborhood are great. Unfortunately, the food was horrible. Rice was like paper. Tacos were utterly flavorless, margaritas watered down. Worst meal I’ve had in a while. Servers were quick to rush us out too. I’ll give it one more shot based solely on the ambiance. $75 for two (flavorless) entrees and 2 (watered down) margaritas.

I have had a very rough week and yet she was able to put a smile on my face and show me how great people can be. I don't love anywhere close to here and happened to be driving by on my way to a meeting but I will be back in the near future.

Great Margaritas and good local place. Service is flakey and frankly uninterested. We were pretty much ignored the whole visit. We would have spent more money but I don’t think the establishment was interested. Same experience before 3 months ago. Did not ask for more drinks, did not refill water, did not ask for desserts, unreasonably wait times for everything including clearing the table and getting the check. So good product but delivery sucks so will not be returning. I used to come here all the time and service was great. Last 6 months has gone downhill.

Oh goodness, as god as my witness I don't know where to start....I ordered for delivery from.this place a couple weeks ago and the food was really good. It was so good I went tonight. The building is on a side street close to Alewife. The building and atmosphere is colorful, intimate and has great wall hangings. The food was wonderful, even better in restaurant then as takeaway. Guacamole, had great flavor with a cilantro forward taste. I got tamales (beef, good choice) and pork which was the hands down winner with cinnamon or nutmeg. The mole sauce was the best I have ever had. It had some backend heat that you only got after the mouthful was finished. The absolute best part of the experience was our server Nancy! She got just as excited as we did about trying flavors, and it was fantastic that she shared what her favorites were. She was a joy. After a long week, this was rejuvenating. Thank you Nancy!

My favorite family-style Mexican restaurant. I've been visiting for over ten years. The prices have gone up a decent amount over time, but the food has remained consistent and delicious. Great margaritas and guacamole. I love the tamales and chile relleno. The refried beans are some of the best you'll find. The service is excellent.

I’m a regular and enthusiastic customer, that is to say I’m here for lunch at least once a month with a Groupon or the equivalent to make it more than reasonable in price. The food is always wholesome and good. The service as friendly as it is relaxed—that is to say very. The setup and decor attractive and simple. And it’s quiet enough for easy conversation and at least at lunchtime you can stay as long as you want.

I really should give zero. Because I never got to try the food. To order take out, from THEIR site, I was directed to order take out through Grubhub. So I did and paid for it, got a confirmation email, waited the 30 minutes estimated time, and went to the restaurant to pick up my lunch. They had no record of the order blaming their fax machine. They did offer to take my order again. But I explained that I had already paid for it through the app that their site directed me to use. All I got was a false smile on the waitress' face. If you're going to use a food delivery service you should be set up so it works. So no lunch for me, boo boo. BUT talking to Grubhub to get my money back was like pulling teeth. They didn't have the order, they claimed. I sent them the confirmation number that THEY sent me in the email that they confirmed that Jose's received my order (to add insult to injury). So, no more Grubhub and I don't know about Jose's They didn't do a single other thing to help. Eventually it got uncomfortable and I left the restaurant to figure out the refund from Grubhub. Get it together folks.

Came here for the Groupon deal for a date night. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the Mexican food and the family atmosphere. Having spent twenty years in southern California I definitely vouch for the authenticity of the flavor, however the price is definitely a mark up compared to what I'm used to in California but premium Mexican food is definitely in short supply in New England. Strongly recommend the fajitas and the guacamole and I'll definitely be back again.
